  • Definitely the Big Ben (it’s the Leicester Sq store in London). It spans across both first and second floor. Pretty epic! by _Discokid_ (Mon 30th May 2022 7:37pm)

  • Aye we’d average 20,000 people passing through the store on a Saturday then same Sunday. It actually fucked my mental health a bit as I’d never experienced that volume of people so frequently. This was a few years ago though. Much better for not being in London any more haha by _Discokid_ (Tue 31st May 2022 1:28am)
  • Feel free to send a pm! Are you a producer yourself? by _Discokid_ (Tue 31st May 2022 1:32am)

  • Hello! I realise that as far as collaboration goes.. I’m actually far too occupied with work music. Don’t even have enough time for my own music! by _Discokid_ (Tue 31st May 2022 10:37am)

  • Ahh don’t say that! We all gotta start somewhere. I actually never studied audio production, just been enrolled at the school of YouTube for 10yrs haha. I’m sure I’ve got some glaring fundamental gaps in my knowledge. by _Discokid_ (Tue 31st May 2022 9:51pm)
  • Pm me, maybe I can help (: by _Discokid_ (Tue 31st May 2022 11:48pm)

  • That’s a great idea, cheers! by _Discokid_ (Sun 5th Jun 2022 10:40pm)
  • It was you!! I saw your post and signed up for those lessons too, went on Friday and had a great time. Gave me the confidence to get back on it again. Lmk when you get that board. by _Discokid_ (Sun 5th Jun 2022 10:40pm)
  • Nice one, thanks! by _Discokid_ (Mon 6th Jun 2022 2:18am)
  • I reallly wanted to get something from Clan Skates to support local but there weren’t any complete decks in my price range. Opted for route one instead. I got an 8.25 board which came with their own undercarriage kit half off, actually worked out less than going for one of their complete decks. by _Discokid_ (Mon 6th Jun 2022 8:19am)
  • Not hip hop so much but… check out the Glitch41 night happening tomorrow at the rum Shack in southside. It’s improvised groove based music, check their insta it looks sick. Think along the lines of BadBadNotGood, Flying Lotus etc. Wish I could go but got covid. £4 a ticket!! by _Discokid_ (Wed 15th Jun 2022 9:53am)
  • Let me know how it goes, really gutted I can’t go. The level of musicianship is so high, should be really really good. by _Discokid_ (Wed 15th Jun 2022 9:57am)
  • Can’t add much about work in the restaurant industry here but… I moved to Glasgow from London a year ago and it’s the best thing I ever did. I’m originally from another part of Scotland though so it definitely felt like ‘coming home’ in a way. Still… I’m really enjoying not having to have my head on a swivel 24/7 like I did in London. I made some great pals there but what a filthy city it is in every sense. Even heading out to the local shops on the weekend and having each shop keeper stop you to chat for 5 mins is so refreshing and welcoming. You won’t regret the move! Plus your money will go way further obviously. by _Discokid_ (Thu 16th Jun 2022 11:00am)
  • Acc so jealous. Glad you had fun tho. Imma make the next one for sure. by _Discokid_ (Fri 17th Jun 2022 11:07am)
  • Could give Frettronics in the west end a call? They’re based in CC Music shop. They mostly fix music gear but they were great. I had an old sampler cleaned up and brought back to life by them. Worth giving a call. by _Discokid_ (Sat 18th Jun 2022 5:23pm)
  • Whatsssup ? by _Discokid_ (Sun 19th Jun 2022 1:31am)
  • Very very much so. Always quite quiet as it’s tucked away but nice vibe in there to relax, work or read. by _Discokid_ (Sun 19th Jun 2022 11:05am)
  • Sent you a pm ✌ by _Discokid_ (Sun 19th Jun 2022 2:26pm)
  • Literally obsessed with the episode 1 podrace and played the N64 Racer game lots as a kid. Would love to try the arcade version but haven’t come across it in Glasgow yet. Thanks ! by _Discokid_ (Wed 22nd Jun 2022 1:13pm)
  • The Rock in Hyndland perhaps…? by _Discokid_ (Thu 30th Jun 2022 12:29am)
  • Can believe it. A bunch of lads on the train to Glasgow from Edin were drinking and taking keys in the back of the carriage away from the cameras yesterday evening. On a Sunday đŸ„Č can’t have been much older than 18. by _Discokid_ (Mon 4th Jul 2022 12:46pm)
  • Wait a minute.. I moved too! You’re not the guy that also got off at Hyndland? 😂 by _Discokid_ (Mon 4th Jul 2022 8:56pm)
  • Electronic producer here, I put a thread up a month ago asking a similar thing which you can see in my old posts (: Would love to hear what you’ve been making 🎧 by _Discokid_ (Wed 6th Jul 2022 2:10pm)
  • Really like WahWah. Some nice sounds in all these! Will dm my site by _Discokid_ (Wed 6th Jul 2022 2:28pm)

  • My pals neighbours still have their tree up in the window, lights on every evening, fully decorated 😂 Tree is completely brown and collapsing. by _Discokid_ (Sun 10th Jul 2022 9:59pm)
  • Pieute already celebrating that fact! Local Edinburgh clothing brand. Check this [tee](https://pieute.scot/products/scottish-tap-water-1) by _Discokid_ (Wed 13th Jul 2022 12:50am)
  • Second Subsine Academy (Soma School). I did the artist course last September and it was great. by _Discokid_ (Wed 13th Jul 2022 9:54am)
  • I’m not a vinyl collector but heavy into music. “Some Great Reward” on Victoria road (southside) has a varied selection of good stuff. Depends what you’re after I suppose. by _Discokid_ (Thu 14th Jul 2022 1:11pm)
  • Gumtree, it can be a gamble but meet the landlord, sit have a cup of tea with them if you can (this happened with our last two viewings). You’ll get a gauge of who they are and hopefully they like you enough to let to you. Best of luck! We found our last two apartments after a week of searching. This was not too long ago either. Just be savvy and try spend as much time as possible with the landlord before hand. by _Discokid_ (Thu 14th Jul 2022 11:04pm)
  • Maybe something from here? https://weegie.store by _Discokid_ (Sat 23rd Jul 2022 9:55am)

  • Yaaas! 1841 is class. Also Space Coffee House down in Partick by _Discokid_ (Sat 20th Aug 2022 9:29pm)
  • 1841 off Byres Road and Space Coffeehouse down in Partick. Both are class! Space maybe has the edge on cakes but … coffee is consistently fantastic at both. by _Discokid_ (Sat 20th Aug 2022 9:31pm)
  • Aye there is but was soaking wet when I was out. Often quite busy later into the afternoon. by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:18pm)
  • Ahh yes that’s it! Case closed by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:27pm)
  • Are ye that upset over a grubby planter though? That fresh paved bit is dead at nearly all hours. I don’t get the issue, I’ve not been rude to anyone about it. by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:26pm)
  • Honestly I’ve skated it in front of the security plenty times and they haven’t said a word. I reckon they were just showing face in front of this person who was complaining. It’s long been skated before I started there and would need replaced if they really wanted to do something about it. by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:38pm)
  • Ok but you’re not allowed to skate it by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:40pm)
  • Aye fair one. I wasn’t winging to them, just engaged in polite conversation. They’ve literally never bothered me before. Can’t see them moving on the wee kids with their scooters either. by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:49pm)
  • And I’m well aware of both those things. What is it that’s upsetting you about this though? by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:47pm)
  • I’d say your first sentence is mostly fair. Can’t do anything about the noise but I do my best to steer clear of others. You’re second sentence is complete speculation as to who I am. I don’t do or own any of those things. Just trying to have a good time and get some exercise in. by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:54pm)
  • Appreciate the comprehensive answer. Totally fair. I moved on to riverside shortly after instead. Will be more cautious with the uni bit! by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:52pm)
  • Thank you by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:50pm)
  • Wrong again but thanks 💋 by _Discokid_ (Sun 21st Aug 2022 3:57pm)

  • Might not be what you’re looking for as it’s more freelancing work but… writing music for commercials can be pretty lucrative if you’ve got a good level of music production on the go. Demos for pitches are paid, then of course major fee if you win a pitch + royalties. I started pursuing it a year ago and landed my first ad a month ago. That’s with a fair few pitches I didn’t win but again.. all demos are paid too. Now this isn’t all clients of course but for some major projects I had a chance to pitch for, the fee has been £18k for 15s of music. Wish I’d won that one of course but again, a couple hundred pounds for your demo is better than a slap in the face, plus you can recycle those demos for future pitches. Feel free to drop me a dm if you’re interested to know a bit more. It’s not for everyone but you’re only ever hired for YOUR sound. As a result I’m usually pretty into the music I’m making for different brands, it doesn’t feel soulless. by _Discokid_ (Tue 30th Aug 2022 11:23pm)
  • Any recommendations of tutors/ schools in Glasgow? Have looked at online lessons but I think in person lessons would be more fun and engaging. Fiancée is Polish and I want to be able to communicate with her family beyond “hello, goodbye, thank you”. Thanks! by _Discokid_ (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:23pm)
  • That’s absolutely horrendous, glad to hear you’re moving and sounds like the new neighbours will be good company. Hope that wee old lady will be ok 😔 by _Discokid_ (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:27pm)
  • It’s one thing speaking a language and another thing teaching it. Her understanding of grammar rules is much better than my equivalent in English. When we first met, she’d often ask me why sentences were constructed a certain way and I just couldn’t explain, you just know these things being a native speaker (plus I forgot all that stuff from higher English). Also it would be a lot of work on her part! Definitely a complicated language so a trained teacher would be a better option to learn quickly. I can certainly practice it by speaking with her though!! I need a good base though. by _Discokid_ (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:34pm)
  • How so a made up country? by _Discokid_ (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:36pm)
  • Perfect! Thank you. It hadn’t crossed my mind to search the sub đŸ€Š‍♂ by _Discokid_ (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:35pm)
  • Well that’s some peace of mind for her I’m sure. Best of luck in your new place! by _Discokid_ (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:48pm)
  • Yes, it’s changed significantly over the centuries in size and who has pillaged it but christ… I have huge respect for Poland and it’s people. They really have been through it and haven’t relied on devouring other countries to build themselves *cough cough UK*. I’m not sure your wife would be happy to know you consider it a made up country with a made up language. Check yourself. by _Discokid_ (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:47pm)
  • Polish radio is a good shout! I do actually listen to quite a bit of Polish rap. We were actually in Warsaw recently to see Mata. I’ve learnt a bit from his songs but between that and sweet things to tell my partner… neither is exactly appropriate to say to her family 😂😂 by _Discokid_ (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:57pm)
  • Aye I have an “on and off” relationship with that owl. French, Polish, Gaelic… it’s ok but I can never stick with it 🙃 He is intense though that’s for sure, gotta get those streak gems. by _Discokid_ (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:55pm)
  • This is great, thanks. Will def reach out to some of these folk. Unfortunately the lessons at the Polish Club near Kelvingrove don’t fit my schedule. by _Discokid_ (Mon 19th Sep 2022 10:44pm)
  • For sure, I tried teaching her to play bass guitar for a period. That dynamic didn’t work so well 😅 by _Discokid_ (Mon 19th Sep 2022 10:43pm)
  • Yessss!!! by _Discokid_ (Fri 23rd Sep 2022 9:31pm)
  • I totally get you. I’m in there fairly often as it’s close to work and man…. they are an odd lot. I heard it was owned by Mormons. Not to say that’s the reason for the odd behaviour… just adds another layer to the mystery of Perch & Rest by _Discokid_ (Fri 23rd Sep 2022 9:37pm)
  • This the yellow VW in Hyndland? Looks like it could be a beaut travelling camper but isn’t being looked after at all sadly. by _Discokid_ (Thu 29th Sep 2022 7:47am)
  • I don’t have kids so don’t have advice on right or wrong here but… “she’s like Randy from trailer park boys” got me 😂😂 by _Discokid_ (Wed 12th Oct 2022 7:32pm)
  • Those scalloped potatoes gettin boxed đŸ„Š by _Discokid_ (Wed 12th Oct 2022 7:38pm)
  • Hats off to ya 😂 by _Discokid_ (Wed 12th Oct 2022 7:44pm)
  • That’s a great idea, thank you. I would assume the insurance is something the courier would offer but maybe I’m wrong about that? The piano is kindly being gifted but it’s of sentimental value to the current owner so definitely want it looked after. by _Discokid_ (Thu 20th Oct 2022 9:01pm)
  • That totally hadn’t occurred to me. This is precisely why I thought asking reddit would be beneficial, thank you! by _Discokid_ (Thu 20th Oct 2022 11:53pm)
  • Nice one, I’m sure a quick google will sort me out. Will call them tomorrow for a quote. by _Discokid_ (Thu 20th Oct 2022 11:52pm)
  • This is why I came to reddit! What’s a piano sleeve? Thankfully it’s just an upright piano so no save needed. Thanks the reply. by _Discokid_ (Thu 20th Oct 2022 11:51pm)
  • Are these still up for grabs? by _Discokid_ (Sat 22nd Oct 2022 5:10pm)
  • Fair enough, maybe I’m hyper aware of it as it limits my options to go skate. It’s definitely quite light some days but certainly over West end way.. this has been a solid month and a half of rain. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:26am)
  • Good to know it’s not just me. Although from reading other comments it looks like we’re the outliers here! by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:44am)
  • Imagine if this is how I found out I have seasonal depression, via reddit. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:43am)
  • Interesting! So perhaps I’ve just been lucky the past couple years. That actually makes me feel a bit better. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:43am)
  • Aye the wee peek of sunshine yesterday was nice. Could have done without the drizzle too but.. silver linings! 😂 by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:41am)
  • Tell me about it. It’s concerning when you can be in your single glaze tenement on an evening in October and not need 5+ layers and blankets. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:47am)
  • Actually comforting to know this is usual and the past couple years I’ve just been lucky. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:46am)
  • Oh I’m well aware of that. Been here all my life but only lived on the west coast the past couple years. It definitely seems unusually wet. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:58am)
  • Yup.. the weather here is pretty unforgiving! by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 9:09am)
  • This more and more seems to be the answer. There is actually some comfort in that, thanks! by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 9:08am)
  • Aye here’s hoping. Could do with a wee break! I’d do anything for 3 dry days at this point 😂 by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 9:12am)
  • As I said… I’ve never seen it rain this consistently in the past two years. From other commenters, sounds like that was a fluke. Don’t get me wrong.. I wasn’t expecting Benidorm when I moved here. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 9:11am)
  • Was waiting for this to come up 😂😂 It’s funny, my main gripe is it’s limiting options to go out and skate. I’m just being a coward in my trackie top. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 9:56am)
  • I was aware that I’d be a bit of a dour cunt for complaining about the weather (especially in Glasgow) but glad I’m not alone here! Thanks for the laugh. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 10:01am)
  • The water isn’t good for the board, if it gets into the wood it loses it’s pop. Also even a few small puddles will rust up the bearings in the wheels. So to answer your question… it’s more that the board will get messed up rather than me getting wet that’s my concern. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 10:00am)
  • Can’t agree with the WD40, that can really fuck sheit up. It dries bearings out, fine for cleaning but not as a lube. I clean mine with ISO then use bones speed cream. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 10:23am)
  • Thanks for your kind comment. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 10:35am)
  • Thanks for the reminder. Now you mention it.. I recall that period around Cop26 being rank. As I mentioned above, I think it’s the want to go out and skate has made me hyper aware of it being wet or not. Never really bothered me before until I took up skating again. The depression is def mixing in there somehow, I wouldn’t say it’s a big part of my life but it definitely gets me from time to time. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 10:35am)
  • Aye I’ve been either hitting up the indoor park at port dundas or going to Kingston Diy which is sheltered under Kingston bridge by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 12:02pm)
  • Aye it’s not bad but that stoat from the subway to the loading bay is enough to get wet. I’ve been going Kingston more regularly as it’s not tooo far a walk from Bridge Street. by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 12:01pm)
  • Gotta respect him sticking to his word by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 12:58pm)
  • What a novel suggestion! by _Discokid_ (Mon 31st Oct 2022 12:58pm)
  • I really like the Thomson’s roasts. They own 1841 on St Vincombe street. Their “Swiss… something something” Is super easy going and fairly priced at just under £8. If I’m feeling fancy I’d go to space coffee house to buy bags from them. Bit pricier but never been disappointed. by _Discokid_ (Sat 5th Nov 2022 3:17am)
  • No smart meter or anything so unsure on costs but just feart to turn the heating on. It comes on for 15 mins every 12 hours just to stop pipes freezing if we’re not running the hot taps. Ice on all the windows, it’s literally pointless for our single glaze living room. Even with the heating on, the ice is still forming and staying. Just fed up of this English government and their shite. From reading above comments I didn’t know continuous cold like this was bad for your health đŸ«  I’m in multiple layers/ scarfs/ socks and hats everyday. Some respite when I go to work and teach but fuckkkk me. What a grim little island the UK is. I’m getting ready to leave because this isn’t sustainable. by _Discokid_ (Wed 14th Dec 2022 10:29pm)
  • As others have said.. Kingston Diy or Loading Bay (indoor). I went loading bay earlier this week thinking id get some respite from the cold but damn it was chilly! It is a big warehouse after all. Cafe was nice and toasty though. Quite a lot of leaks though in the street area which was a shame. Vvv slippy on the wooden manny pads. by _Discokid_ (Fri 16th Dec 2022 11:29pm)
  • Whoops just commented the same. We called them that in early 2000’s too when I was in HS. by _Discokid_ (Mon 19th Dec 2022 10:53am)
  • I mind them being calling “Punnie eccies”, short for “punishment exercise” by _Discokid_ (Mon 19th Dec 2022 10:52am)
  • Oh fuck I would have loved these. Goddamittt! by _Discokid_ (Mon 20th Mar 2023 12:51am)
  • Check out “still doing the music aye?” It’s interviews with musicians but good craic and mostly Scottish guests. The hosts are Glasgow based. by _Discokid_ (Mon 20th Mar 2023 1:07am)
  • Second frettronics. Had drum machines fixed up by Olly. Very skilled guy. by _Discokid_ (Sun 26th Mar 2023 4:15pm)
  • Whilst I agree with you… I mean how come we don’t pay the March rate for energy used in March? by _Discokid_ (Sun 2nd Apr 2023 4:17pm)
  • Bumble BFF is ok. Met some nice people there. Maybe best finding a hobby to do with others. I was in the same spot but all my pals I’ve made have been through skateboarding which I took up a year ago. by _Discokid_ (Sun 2nd Apr 2023 9:38pm)
  • Plus they have a new cafe opening in Finnieston next month! by _Discokid_ (Thu 6th Apr 2023 1:47am)
  • As someone who was a student in Edinburgh and since has moved to Glasgow years later.. I’m gutted I didn’t come here to study. Way more interesting night life/ gigs and things to do. Better shopping, plenty food options. Edinburgh is prettier but every time I visit it actually makes me kinda depressed because it feels the exact same as it did 10yrs ago. It’s like a wee time warp. I was always jealous of my pals who came through to Glasgow to study. I’d say it’s a no brainer, Glasgow will be waaaay more fun. by _Discokid_ (Thu 6th Apr 2023 1:45am)
  • It’s a good question! It’s a person who specialises in writing lyrics/melodies and hooks (catchy parts of a chorus for example). I think I’m a good producer but toplining isn’t my strong suit, hence looking to collaborate with others. by _Discokid_ (Tue 11th Apr 2023 12:54am)
  • Never heard of this before but I’m hooked. This looks so fun! Sounds like curlers rest might be the place to find players. by _Discokid_ (Tue 11th Apr 2023 11:03pm)
  • 😂😂 afraid not but I love that this could be a name for enthusiastic cyclists by _Discokid_ (Thu 13th Apr 2023 6:50pm)

  • They were little penguins doing various activities. Really sweet! by _Discokid_ (Sun 11th Jun 2023 3:07pm)
  • Oh sorry… you asked where. If you walk up Belmont Street, you’ll cross a bridge and there are some steps down to the Kelvin on your left. Follow this to the left and you’ll come across the wall on your right hand side. It’s only a short wander from the steps. by _Discokid_ (Sun 11th Jun 2023 3:11pm)
  • Looks like Arches Diy? Sounds fun! by _Discokid_ (Sat 29th Jul 2023 5:12pm)
