  • >We've already got folk having to grit pavements and playgrounds because of council cutbacks, next up they'll be chucking us the keys to the bin lorries. And what's wrong with taking responsibility for and contributing to your own community, rather than having the mentality of only getting, never giving? by blazito (Fri 1st Feb 2019 1:30pm)

  • I only ever got one for parking on an (unserviced) bus stop and appealed it by citing some intricate road requirements that the existing signage didn’t follow.... (Brace yourselves.) “The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 requires that the road marking of a restricted bus stop/stand must be used in conjunction with an associated upright sign (Schedule 7 General Direction 3) which is prescribed by Schedule 4 and, according to Part 2 Para 2 and 3 of the same, must: - have a yellow background and black border as shown in blank diagram 1 in Part 1, and - include a symbol of the size, colour and type shown in column 3 of the Part 3 sign table for the description in question. There is no sign that matches these legal requirements at the location where my vehicle was parked. “ Took them a while to get back to me but they did cancel it. One of the proudest moments of my life. Did they change the sign? Like fuck they did. by blazito (Fri 21st Feb 2020 9:53am)

  • I never said it was pal. Also not saying that they need to be catered to or mollified. But generally, kind words and empathy will get you further and is healthier for you than being angry and vengeful. Peace by blazito (Fri 10th Jul 2020 12:52pm)

  • Ruchill Park is very underrated (although Ruchill does have a bit of a reputation). IME it’s usually very quiet, especially compared to Kelvingrove, and the views are stunning. It’s a 3 minute walk from the canal, well worth the detour if you’re around. Can also give disc golf course a try if that’s your sort of thing. by blazito (Tue 14th Jul 2020 12:54pm)

  • Yeah mate I’m not not raging just wondering what it’s like elsewhere around the town. by blazito (Tue 29th Dec 2020 9:51pm)
  • I did my best to not be greeting with this post, it was more so the utter disconnect from my daily reality (i.e. masks being the norm rather than the exception) that prompted me to post and ask about other people’s experiences. by blazito (Tue 29th Dec 2020 9:58pm)
  • More worried about the 70+ y.o. man in that post office queue than about myself to be honest. Plus I was genuinely shocked to see such low levels of compliance given how much effort it takes to wear a piece cloth around your face. Plus the complacency from the staff. It felt unreal, like when I’m watching a scene in a movie and catch myself thinking “wow nobody is wearing a mask”, except happening in real life and in the middle of the pandemic. by blazito (Tue 29th Dec 2020 9:56pm)
  • Oh right. It all makes sense now! by blazito (Tue 29th Dec 2020 10:50pm)
  • I avoided mentioning the place on purpose. Was a convenience shop in south west Glasgow. by blazito (Wed 30th Dec 2020 8:47am)
  • Don’t fancy naming and shaming the place, wasn’t why I posted. South west Glasgow. by blazito (Wed 30th Dec 2020 8:45am)
  • A good phrase to use would be “clearly I care more about keeping you safe than you care about my safety”. Given that the masks are much more effective at preventing spreading rather than stopping you catching it. Not really the kind of a shop owner you want to be supporting if they can’t be fucked protecting their customers’ health. by blazito (Wed 30th Dec 2020 8:51am)

  • To hear other people’s experiences, find out if this is prevalent elsewhere. by blazito (Wed 30th Dec 2020 2:29pm)
  • That’s only fair mate. Sorry to hear about your difficulties to do with wearing a mask, must be tough to deal with the looks and the social anxiety that would bring on. Stay safe buddy. by blazito (Wed 30th Dec 2020 2:31pm)
  • Cause I’m a curious cunt that’s why by blazito (Wed 30th Dec 2020 4:45pm)
  • I was once told to “eat my banana and walk away”. But nothing to do with masks. I couldn’t have been wearing one as I was eating a banana at the time. by blazito (Wed 30th Dec 2020 8:44pm)

  • Thanks for sharing. It’s been very busy today in parks what with the NYD and good weather. Keep in mind there is far smaller chance (~20x smaller from what I read) of contracting covid outdoors compared to the same setting indoors. The cloud of vapour/cigarette smoke / smell is a good comparison but not a perfect one. In general, the lingering smell especially a strong one like cigarettes will need far fewer particles to be discernible compared to the viral load required for a viable infection. The volume of air is paramount. Hope you stay safe either way mate by blazito (Fri 1st Jan 2021 9:05pm)

  • If I’m paying for it myself I’ll take the bus and get myself to the Buchanan bus station with public transport or a taxi, depending on how early it is. If I’m expensing it to the company, I’ll take a pre-paid private transfer to pick me up from home and drive me direct for the £70 it’s gonna cost and get extra sleep that morning. Whatever anyone says, travelling for business is a fucking hassle and you should not make it any more difficult for yourself. If you genuinely can’t afford to pay for it upfront and they’ve not given you a company credit card, ask your boss to pay for it. (But then how are you going to sustain yourself, pay for restaurants etc. while away?) by blazito (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 12:11pm)
  • Re cameras, the officers I spoke to said to not bother, the burglars just put on caps/hoods and a property with a camera usually means there’s something inside worth nicking. by blazito (Fri 20th Jan 2023 7:31pm)

  • Average speed cameras, as much as I despise them, would take care of that in a jiffy. by blazito (Tue 4th Apr 2023 9:03pm)
  • While bemoaning a “loss of freedom” around speed cameras, we may wish to ask ourselves “What [freedom] do we lose if we don’t rigorously enforce a 30mph, or whatever it is, speed limit?” Such as: the freedom to walk around town without a constant tiring hum of loud tyre noise from the motorway. I remember seeing speed limits on Austrian motorways to do with lowering the noise levels for the towns and villages along the road. Again, as a keen driver I hate average speed cameras. As a keen pedestrian, I would be 100% for them being introduced on the M8. by blazito (Wed 5th Apr 2023 10:53pm)
