  • Heya , I'm a Master of Science student presently studying at UofG, and I'm from Kolkata,India too. I personally love living in Glasgow more than anything. Most people are extremely warm and nice and always ready to help. Sure the weather can be a bit nasty at times, but you'll grow used to it eventually ! Glasgow is a lot more affordable than London. And I personally prefer Scotland much much more than England. Scotland's beautiful. And the university, their facilities and staff , everything combined is pretty good, quite an experience on the whole. Unlike how we've been studying in India so dar though, you'll find the education system to be very different, and Masters courses typically focus more on independent learning, and coming up with your own thoughts and ideas , but the lecturers are always available for help, they get back to all your queries in class and by email, and are happy to be able to answer questions. The job situation compeletely depends on whatt kind of jobs youre talking about, especially what field you belong from. Sure , I'm aware of the oost study limited visa to find a job. It's difficult, but not impossible. And England does have more jobs than Scotland in general, so after your study you might want to move into England for jobs. But overall, I'd still encourage you to come study in Glasgow , because I was in the same situation as you last year, and now I'm so so glad I'm here. I've not only learnt thing as in academically, but also grown as a person, made great friends and had an absolutely unforgettable time here. So good luck. Hope this helps :) by csreej27 (Mon 15th Apr 2019 10:30am)
  • Why thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it. And Yesssss looking for it everywhere when I'm away, so relatable. The longing is unbelievable. I'll never forget the first time I stepped into Uni and I was like no wonder people call this Hogwarts. by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 9:28pm)
  • Thanks so much, I really hope so too. That's why I love the country so much, because of how welcoming most people are ! I've literally not felt such warmth and love in my own country as much as I have while living in Scotland ! by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 9:39pm)
  • Will do x by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 9:43pm)
  • Thanks so so much again âĪ Loving the term "adopted Scot" haha, #LifeGoal ! by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 9:45pm)
  • I'm from India. Yessssss cannot wait for a chance to go back ! âĪ thank YOU and the people of Scotland for making me feel at home ! It's had such a positive impact on me. I've grown so much living there by myself. by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 9:53pm)

  • But hey thanks for saying that, means a lot ! by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:08pm)
  • I would literally just run back there right now if I could , Trust me 😊 Unfortunately it's a little more complicated than that by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:07pm)
  • Yaay always so delighted to read about more people who've experienced and loved the city 😍 I totally get what you mean about your family. My family is back in India too. But interestingly they visited me twice while I was living in Glasgow and they're massive fans of the city as well ! They keep joking with me about finding a job in Glasgow so that they can visit again haha. Don't mean to sound biased but Scottish people ARE the best aren't they ? 😄😄😁😃 by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:19pm)
  • It's such a wonderful feeling to hear your story and to learn that so many of us share the same emotions about Glasgow. I was actually worried if I was the only one going overboard with my Scotland obsession and whether it was unreasonable. As much as I'm sorry to hear that you are your SO didn't get a chance to stay on in Glasgow back then, I'm really fucking happy to read that last sentence of yours, life isssss too short for us to be staying away from doing these we really want to. I genuinely hope you both are able to go back to Scotland ASAP ! It's not worth staying away from Glesgaaaa âĪ by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:15pm)
  • So happy for you that you made it back again 🙂🙂🙂 Emjoy the sun while it lasts x by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:27pm)

  • Hey, your city IS THE BEST ! It's given me the best memories amd experiences I could've asked for. Always dreaming about Glasgow 😭 so so glad you understand my emotional connection with the city ! That's nice to know you're back home 😃 ( wee bit jealous of you but hope that's allowed 😆 ) Even earlier while I was applying to jobs in and around London I was always wondering how different it would be from Glasgow and how often I'd be able to travel to Scotland. What noooo I haven't watched this. Omg I'll see if I can get me hands on them. Wonder if I can find it on an online platform like Netflix etc.. Thanks so much for the recommendation! I honestly had no clue about this until you mentioned, really looking forward to being able to watch this ! x Aah canny wait ðŸĪŠðŸĪ— by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:38pm)
  • Hahahahha , tbf that is such an apt descriptionof my feelings..I have heard if before aye And thanks! Can't wait to be back âĪðŸĪ— by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:48pm)

  • "Scottish if you want to be" - I don't wanna tear up but I think I might 😭 Scotland has my heart and I can't tell you how much this means to me, the spirit, the acceptance. by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:51pm)
  • Aww thanks. Means a lot âĪðŸĪ— by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:56pm)
  • I always think it must be so nice to have been born/grown up in Scotland (just because I relate to the place and the people so much ) Well, I guess we'll have to hold on to the memories till we can be back ! ðŸĪ— Hope you can visit as soon aa you'd like x by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 10:56pm)
  • Fair enough aye. Nice to know that my experience in your city reminded me of your time in a place that is close to your heart as well ! Thanks SO much, it means a lot honestly, all of the kindness ! I hope you get to be in Spain when you want too :) by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 11:00pm)
  • That's okay, to each his own I guess ! A lot of people I know would simply move away because of the weather.. It's a lovely place regardless :) Glad to know you've had a nice time visiting Glasgow ðŸĪ—âĪ Do you have any place/spot that you're particularly fond of in Glasgow/Scotland? by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 11:04pm)
  • Of course I'd love more suggestions , that would be great 😃 aah okay, yeah it might be a bit of a struggle to ehm find a platform to view/stream/download it in here but I'm sure I can try and figure something out :) by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 11:18pm)
  • Oh that's nice to know ! Well lucky you then for being able to find a job in there ! Omg you're too kind ! Thanks so much for wanting to help. x by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 11:15pm)
  • Such a lovely description right there 😍 I so agree with all of it. I miss being able to go to Kelvingrove park at the drop of a hat. Thanks so much for that, it means a lot ! âĪðŸī󠁧ó Ēó ģó Ģó īó ŋ Shall rush back soonest by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 11:26pm)
  • Have to admit, I'm not entirely aware of this deal. However, I do wish it gets a wee bit easier to find a job in there. Finding a visa sponsor can often be a nightmare. Thanks for your concern though, I appreciate it x by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 11:39pm)
  • What have you done 😭😭😭😭 I appreciate the effort , cannot wait to go back to dear green place again 😊😊 by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 11:37pm)
  • I graduated December 2019, but decided to stay during the post study period as well up until March 2020 hoping to find something there, but unfortunate couldn't get a job so returned home. I can understand why a lot of us who've studied there would want to go back. I'm sorry to hear that things got in the way of you staying back. Many Europeans I was friends with went back to EU for similar reasons. It's quite unfortunate tbh. But we're all somehow united by an undying love for Glasgow/ Scotland which is amazing really ! Really hope you are able to go back to staying /visiting very soon x by csreej27 (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 11:53pm)
  • Thank you for sharing this bittersweet story with me ! Well what can I say, There's no place like Scotland ðŸī󠁧ó Ēó ģó Ģó īó ŋâĪ Distance only makes the heart grow fonder :) I do hope your daughter can return to / visit Glasgow as soon as she likes 🙂 by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:04am)
  • Ah, fair enough. Not gonna lie, The weather does affect me during winter though, the reduced daylight mostly. But also I can totally understand, moving is such a pain, I wouldn't blame ya ! Glad you've had a nice time around town.. I would ever so often walk into town from the West end , through the walk beside the Clyde. Necropolis is lovely though ! Despite hearing so much about it, I never got a chance to visit cat cafe haha. Maybe next time ! by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:00am)
  • Thanks so much ! I've been dying to go back, just waiting for the opportunity âĪ It's not very hard to adjust to honestly. As surprising as it might sound ! Most students like me move to the country around September when it's mostly rainy and that's ok. Like honestly the rain we have here is more downpour and floods-y. So the Glasgow rain initially seems like a drizzle. And then I guess the body just adapts as and when winter sets in. I bought myself a nice warm winter coat from Mountain Warehouse which definitely helped ! And I really enjoyed the cold, because I've never experienced it before abs eventually just got used to it. Honestly, I much prefer the cold to the warm and humid climate here. So sorry if that was too elaborate but didn't quite answer your question well ! But my oh my, Scotland in Summer is what dreams are made of âĪ😍ðŸī󠁧ó Ēó ģó Ģó īó ŋ by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:11am)
  • Awwww thanks so much ! Means a lot ! If I could I would be back just now ðŸĪ—😭 by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:26am)
  • Hahah that's an interesting question ! I have to admit when I was eating out in Glasgow it was mostly nice wee cafes and Paesano and Bucks bar and Bimbimbap etc. So less curries and more everything else haha. But ehm, I've tried Tuk Tuk, Mother India, Curry Pot, Green chilli, Akbar's , Ashoka , Rishi's and a couple of other Indian/Pakistani places in Glasgow. I've always found the butter chicken to be too sweet for my liking in most places. Other than that, I think, obviously there's less variety of curries in Glasgow than Indian restaurants. In fact a lot of curries like Chasni, Patia were things I was eating for the first time in there, because they're not very common in India. The curries are quite impressive at most places in Glasgow, but ehm sort of need more complexity in terms of flavour because so many times I've felt like more than one curry tasting similar. Also one thing that is true for Indian cuisine outside India in general is that they only serve a specific type on Indian ( north indian / punjabi ) curries. Each state in India has so many different curries that are not represented globally. For example I'm a Bengali and The only time I could find Bengali food in the UK was when I was down in London. So yeah, guess you get my point ! My go to places were almost always Soba / Paesano / Cafe Strange Brew etc ,and rarely ever a curry house tbh, because I wanted to try new food and also because I cook just cook my own curry at home. Sorry for the immensely long reply, I'm very passionate about food if you couldn't tell ðŸĪŠ I want to be back like NOW 😭😭😭ðŸĪ—âĪ Thanks so much ! by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:25am)
  • Love a clear blue sky ! Thanks so so much for the photo though. Made my already nostalgic self all the more nostalgic, if that's possible haha. It's a lovely wee snap. Enjoy the outdoors while the sun lasts ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ— Just out of curiosity, and if it's okay for me to ask, given you're a delivery driver, how has covid affected you- I mean, has it been very hectic for you during the pandemic/lockdown? Completely ok if you don't wanna answer, no pressure x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:31am)
  • I mean probably yeah I'd guess that could be a reason but given that there are so many South Asian grocery stores all across the UK, I don't see why ingredients could be missing. Might have something to do with technique, Idk. by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:44am)
  • It is isn't it ! Fills my heart with joy to witness so much kindness in here ! I'm grateful for all the kind words and love that I'm receiving and sharing with all true Scots in here Thank you so much for your words. They mean a lot to me âĪ I am so so glad I decided to post what I have been feeling for months. Had no idea I would be able to share my emotions with so many people. by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:59am)
  • I'm sorry to hear you had to leave too son because of Covid. It's really unfortunate how much the pandemic has affected all our lives in different ways. I can absolutely relate to looking back at the pictures. I do that everyday. I'm someone who clicks a LOT of photos of everything , and naturally everyday my Google photos will send me a notification of the memories from a year ago in Glasgow. I constantly keep seeing pictures of Glasgow on instagram as well. I know the uncertainty sucks, THE MOST, of not knowing when we'd be able to make it back there. But I feel so relieved that I posted what I was feeling because otherwise this uncertainty was killing me deep down, not being able to express it. And now that I have, and so many people like you have responded and shared similar emotions about the place, I feel slightly better reading all of your stories and sharing the emotions with yous. Fun fact, my original decision to pursue a PhD was influenced a lot by how much I want to stay in Scotland and continue being with my then boyfriend. I've been applying to PhDs all across UK and Europe ever since 🙈 I now realize that I might not have the chance to pursue doctoral studies in Scotland because of funding issues but I'm still hoping to find a PhD somewhere in the UK/Europe by next year So when you talk about the masters, I feel you. by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 6:28am)
  • Okay first things first, I'm glad that I can finally say that out loud now that I find the Glaswegian accent to be really warm and charming. Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks that way 🙈 I keep watching BBC Scotland videos, and Lewis Capaldi interviews just so that I would keep heating6the accent and not miss it so much. I so wish someday I could speak that way haha ! While living there, I picked up bits and pieces of it and would use "Aye, nae bother! " a lot 😝😝 I feel like the highland trip needs so much planning as well, and it depends SO much on the weather. I once went to Skye and couldn't see a thing because of the low lying clouds. But I do hope you get to visit the Highlands as soon as things are starting to look better and safer ðŸĪ— Omgggg, Cafe tour around Glasgow sounds like the most exciting thing honestly ! I have a thing for nice wee cafes and can't begin to tell you how many of them I live and still follow on Instagram ! I'd love to do a cafe tour as well 😃 by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 6:39am)
  • Ugh that sucks, I feel you. Well at least, Lucky you, get to be back in September ! Not much long a wait now. Just out of curiosity, what village is this, somewhere in Scotland or otherwise ? by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 6:44am)
  • Aww, Thanks so much ðŸĪ— I'm from India ! by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 6:40am)
  • I'm so glad we can share our emotional connection with Scotland! I never knew I could love a country and its people so much, and feel it even more now that I'm away. I've not been able to describe to other people the sense of belonging like you said. Congratulations on the MRes though ðŸĪ— So happy for you ! Things might not be the safest at the minute but Scotland has been doing quite good these days, with almost no covid deaths and very few cases reported recently. I hope you're able to go back to Glasgow very very soon and make more new memories of Scotland ! âĪ Finding a job in Scotland to live there long term, is a dream that I have as well. I hope both we can both achieve our goals eventually, no matter what it takes ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ—. I'm sure our passion for the place combined with our efforts will help us be successful in living the dream ðŸī󠁧ó Ēó ģó Ģó īó ŋ by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 6:53am)
  • God damn COVID, ughhh, why can't it end already I swear 😔😔😔 Why must Scottish people be so nice haha , why be so nice if they can be with us long term lol ! I don't mean to sound biased but once I've met/dated the Scots , I feel like no other people would be as funny/kind/charming. Whenever I am ready to date in future, I feel like I'd have an unfair bias towards dating Scottish men only 🙈🙈 I feel so silly saying this out loud publicly but they can be so warm and adorable ! The more I read people"s experiences in Scotland , the more I realize it's never about the length of time we spent there. It's the warmth, the acceptance, the love, the experiences that count. It's like once you're on Scotland it will suddenly shower you with so much kindness and fun and positivity, that life won't feel the same the moment you step out of there ! I'm almost envious of the people born in Scotland who get to live there forever. They deserve every bit of that beautiful country though ðŸī󠁧ó Ēó ģó Ģó īó ŋ Although Glasgow will be my favourite, I do miss hopping on a train to Edinburgh every now and then. I miss the madness of Waverly and the royal mile and Cockburn and Victoria street, also watched a stand up comedy show in Edinburgh early this year which was just fab ! ðŸĪ— by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 7:05am)
  • Awww, I'm glad we share similar feelings about Glasgow. I think only people who've lived there understand what it's like to fall in love with a city, so so much and be so emotionally connected/ affected by it. Sometimes in my head I will think of Glasgow as if it is an ex partner and blame it for not letting me live there forever lol. I'd be like why accept me with such love and kindness if you can't have me living there longer, ugghhhh. The longing is bittersweet. I get what you mean when you say you're always missing Glasgow, I always feel like a part of my soul is there, I'm missing a piece. Glad to hear you were able to visit, but of course it doesn't compare to living there. I know it sounds unrealistic but if living in Glasgow is what we really want then I do hope it does happen eventually. Never giving up on my love for Glasgow âĪðŸī󠁧ó Ēó ģó Ģó īó ŋ by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 7:12am)
  • Aww , I'm glad you resonate with the post. 3 years is a long time, I'm already such a mess in 4 months time of being away. But have faith, I'd like to believe that our love for Glasgow won't go to waste. I know finding a way back is the toughest thing ever, but I do hope it happens , whenever the time is right. We belong tae Glesga ðŸī󠁧ó Ēó ģó Ģó īó ŋâĪðŸĪ— by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 7:24am)
  • I feel you. 6 years is also such a long time and I'd imagine you'd have much more memories in there than I do. While I'm always overwhelmed by emotions when it comes to Scotland, I appreciate your rational and mature approach towards it. Sounds on point. Tbh, as far as I can think, Independence isn't easy (took India 200 years so no joke lol ), it comes with a price, and you gotta fight for it. So I do understand the Scottish Independence too, won't happen overnight, but I do hope they really continue to fight for it. Thank you for your sharing your sound opinion x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 7:20am)
  • 10 whole years ! Wow âĪ I don't think I can even imagine how much you miss Glasgow. Damn. Why must Glasgow be so nice 😭 Would you ever / have plans to be back for staying / visiting? Feel free to drop me a message if you ever want to share the Glasgow nostalgia, no pressure x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 7:36am)
  • Oh wow that's convenient haha ! Thanks, trying my best x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 7:41am)
  • Gutted ! by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 7:47am)
  • 7 years is a long time to have so many memories associated with the place I'd imagine ! Thanks, hoping we can all be back in places we love very soon ðŸĪ—âĪðŸī󠁧ó Ēó ģó Ģó īó ŋ by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 7:45am)
  • I apologize for and acknowledge my lack of awareness about Scottish History. But I'm inspired to read up and update myself about it, so thank you x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 7:50am)
  • Ah well thanks for that. But I was shattered because how it ended. I have nothing against my ex partner, and he is one the kindest souls ever but I'll never understand why he chose to dump me over a cold WhatsApp message, at the beginning of the pandemic, just when we entered lockdown. I don't think I've entirely recovered from the heartbreak yet. It makes memories of Glasgow even more difficult. by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 8:04am)
  • Awww ! The longing is so painful 😭 but I guess we just have to cling on to memories for now! by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 8:01am)
  • Ohmygod, that sounds lovely ! To be back living there with your family now. Makes me so happy to hear this 😭âĪ Thanks so so much, all of your words make me feel more inspired to try harder to find my way back x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 8:13am)
  • I'm so happy to know you about your situation and that you got to stay back. Kudos to you, it takes a lot of hard work and luck, to stand out amongst all of Europe and convince the employer to sponsor the visa. Ans also that they have been so supportive through the pandemic ! Nice to heat such positive experiences ! So the thing with me is, I studied a subject that's more closely related to academia and research so there are less jobs in the market anyway. I therefore started applying to PhDs , I still am. All across UK and Europe. I've given a ton of interviews as well, but unfortunately haven't been successful so far, but I'm still at it and hope to be back in Europe for a PhD by 2021. And thanks for the Ireland suggestion. It means a lot. I do have Ireland in mind. It's proximity to Scotland also is a very promising aspect. Honestly, thank you so much, I'm speechless to receive so much help and kindness and positivity. It means the world to me that so many of you can understand what I feel and are trying to suggest options for me to find my way back ! âĪ😭 by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 8:11am)
  • I get what you mean. Makes sense aye. I'm sorry it went that way for you. But like I mean, my last memory of Glasgow is kissing my ex goodbye at the airport and promising to see each other in summer. How will I ever forget that, ugh. by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 8:20am)
  • Thanks so.much ! All of this is SO inspiring âĪ by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 8:54am)
  • Fair enough. You win some you lose some I guess. Thanks for sharing your way of dealing with things ! Immensely grateful to you for hearing me out ðŸĪ— by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 8:53am)
  • Awww. So glad to know though that you try to visit whenever you can. Hopw you can be there soon again x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 9:23am)
  • Resonate with EVERY word you just said. As you rightly pointed out I will never know the magic that captivates everyone who"s been to the city ! It's surreal. I guess a lot of people like you might have had to move away for work, and I get what you mean when you see even though you're in Edinburgh you still feel the pain, well at least you can go back whenever you like once better times prevail ðŸĪ— I mean of course when I'm stuck in India just now and thinking of Glasgow I do want to say that you're lucky to have moved only about an hour away from Glasgow, but of course I don't mean to undermine the pain that you feel of moving away. And thanks for sharing your experience because the more I get to know about people who've been here, I do realize I'm not the only one who is just mad obsessed. Can So relate to becoming biggest rep for Glasgow haha, I think my folks are tired of hearing about it 😂😂 So many of my friends back here would just be like oh come on stop it already, you need to go see other places as well. They always make fun of me and ask me to just go away and end up with a Scottish man. It's interesting to learn about your friend who moved in with you, I don't know what kind of spell Glasgow casts on people lol but it definitely works. I'm sorry the pandemic affected her. I do hope she can be back when the time is right. But I absolutely relate to it being similar to a heartbreak. I mean IT IS heartbreak and so much worse. I feel like I am in ways going through Separation anxiety if that makes sense. I swear I'm not exaggerating. by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 9:22am)
  • Thanks so much for the recommendations. Being well informed about the surroundings is truly commendable! At this point of time, I could really do with some light hearted things to watch tbh. Really appreciate the support x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 9:28am)
  • Hey, I'm sorry to hear that the pandemic has had a negative impact on you. But these are trying times. Just try to hang in there and give yourself and the city some time , to bond. With Scotland slowly trying to return to normal I hope things will pick up for you too. Job hunting can be difficult. But Glasgow is a really friendly city, try getting to know people, going on walking tours, making friends, that really helped me through my tough times back there. I'm sure you could connect with people through the internet and eventually meet up. There is actually an app called Meet up I think where different groups would host events and plenty of people new to the city go to such meet ups to make new friends, socialize etc.. I do understand covid has made things difficult though. If it helps, try searching for Australian people in Glasgow, if there are some groups/ meet ups, for times you're home sick. It's always nice to bond with people from the home country. Just speaking from experience because my Indian friends just ensured I wasn't missing home too much. I'm happy to help if you ever need any suggestions! x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 9:38am)
  • Hahahha It's not even funny I TOTALLY understand what you mean about appreciating Glasgow specifically now. In my head I've always thought that even if I did work in Edinburgh, I'll try to live or eventually move to Glasgow. I know it's not the most realistic or practical of approaches maybe, but I totally feel you. And therefore I completely support your Hopes of moving back to Glasgow permanently! My family isn't entirely obsessed YET but I'm hoping I can make them, they've visited me twice and would love to go back to Glasgow whenever they can, just not in winter though haha. They didn't deal very well with the cold unfortunately. But yeah still a long way to go for making my friends travel across continents and then convincing them how great Glesga is 😂âĪðŸī󠁧ó Ēó ģó Ģó īó ŋ Some of them still joke with me about how I'm feeling being " abroad" (in India) because I apparently make them feel like Scotland is my home country ðŸĪŠ by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 9:51am)
  • Haha I almost forgot that it must be quite early there just now. Time difference can be silly. But no worries ,I'll be looking forward to more suggestions, always ðŸĪ— Feel free to send me DMs if you'd prefer , no pressure though, whatever is okay with you x Yeah, Scotland definitely will always be a part of me. And I also left a big part of myself back there. So I need to be back again to feel more complete 😅 by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 9:56am)
  • Wooaahhhhh !!! Congratulations on that. I'm sure you deserve every bit of the burden being lifted off. That's great honestly ! ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ— Makes me so happy to geat about people finding a way to stay back âĪ Haha thanks so much, I will try x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 10:08am)
  • You're too kind ! Thanks so much for your suggestion. I've been applying to funded PhD positions for a while now. Hoping something works out by the end of this year. Fills my heart with Joy to see how accepting yous are. Thanks for offering to help , and I can't wait for that celebratory drink haha, wishing it could happen sooooon 😭😭😭 by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:44pm)
  • Your words are so encouraging ! It makes me believe in myself more and try harder to find ways to go back ! âĪ Absolutely, no place like Glasgow. I've only been able to appreciate it because of the good people in there that make the city what it is , so thank YOU , for making Scotland a second home for me ! Thank you so so much for being kind to me, it means a lot 🙂😄 by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 12:48pm)
  • Hey Thanks so much ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ— It's very hard to not Love Scotland ! I'll be trying to come back as soon as I can x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 1:39pm)
  • Oh well. Probably not the best thing to happen to anyone. But I've tried really hard to get past it, and I just want to retain the happy memories and have respect for the good times. He was quite nice to me otherwise and I want to remember him for the good things we shared. There's too much negativity in the world anyway. Life's too short to be mad at someone for too long. I've tried journaling and making better use of my energy to keep myself sane through the pandemic But I do appreciate your concern x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 2:25pm)
  • Haha, pleased to hear that. Although feel like it's not just a specific set of people. It's about accepting everyone equally and trying to coexist peacefully, while respecting every human life no matter what race/ creed/ gender/ colour. I think that's what really makes a difference. That I never felt like I was an Indian / immigrant in Glasgow. I was a person / student met with a lot of kindness. And that's honestly all I ask for 🙂 A little humanity goes a long way ! Appreciate your kind words. Hope I can find my way back very soon x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 2:38pm)
  • I know exactly the place you're talking about. The doughnut shop is Tantrum Doughnuts and it's my favourite in Glasgow. It's located on Old Dumbarton Road. Funny coincidence - I'm guessing my friend once stayed at the same airbnb you did ! It's a lovely apartment 😄 Hope you can go back soon x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 4:16pm)
  • Hahah the creme brulee used to be my flat mate's favourite. I've always been a fan of their Milk and Cookies doughnut 😃 That's one of the best parts about Glasgow I think, the fact that everyone greets everyone else and can be so chatty. I can totally understand! That's such a lovely way to put it "accepting" rain. I mean yeah it's always there , whether you like it or not 😂 BUT I guess the main reason why people don't carry umbrellas is because it's really windy so we just make do with jackets with hoods, works fine tbh. So glad to hear you had such a lovely time x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 4:29pm)
  • I can understand about explaining to family. It can be quite tough , but I guess we need to acknowledge that someone who hasn't been to/experienced Scotland like we have wouldn't understand why it feels like home. I'm honestly happy to see that you're absolutely up to date about the Scotland covid situation as am I. Yeah apart from the call centre cases in Motherwell, Scotland has been doing good over the last few days in handling Covid. Thanks so much, I've been feeling quite hopeless honestly about the PhD situation. Can't seem to figure where I go wrong which can be quite frustrating. That's an interesting question. So I did a masters in Biotechnology initially, after the Bachelors in Microbiology, after which I felt like I still lacked in depth knowledge and wasn't ready to progress to a PhD. So I was exploring options of expanding my Skill set, when I realized science was shifting to a data driven direction, and Bioinformatics is slowly going to become an essential skill in order to continue pursuing Biological science research. And that's how I ultimately ended up pursuing a masters in Bioinformatics ! Even though I actually wanted to study Biostatistics, most Universities had a requirement that I had extensive Maths / Stats background for it, so I decided on Bioinformatics. Although I now realize Biostatistics knowledge is essential and a core part of Bioinformatics. But then there's no end of learning guess 😅😅 by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 5:39pm)
  • Haha, why thank you. You're too kind ! by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 6:07pm)

  • Wow thanks. That would be great. I do know though that I can only probably apply to through the Lord Kelvin Adam Smith scholarship ( because that's probably one of the only funding sources for international students as far as I'm aware ). But I would greatly appreciate your help x by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 6:55pm)
  • I mean if you never try you'll never know 😝😝😂😂 by csreej27 (Thu 23rd Jul 2020 8:14pm)
  • Awwww. Let's face it, the move won't be easy, you'll have a heavy heart and a lump in the throat , but I don't mean to scare you. I want to say acknowledging how difficult it will be would be a move in the right direction. • I feel you. I had to move back from Glasgow to India earlier this year , and it was one of the toughest things I've had to go through. It almost felt like a heartbreak. I couldn't stop crying on my way to the airport, not knowing when I'd be back. I still think of Glasgow all the time. I literally dream of all the streets I've roamed about. Still feel like I'm only physically in India just now, my mind and my heart are STILL in Glasgow. Good luck for your future, haste ye back ! You're Glaswegian if you want to be :) by csreej27 (Tue 6th Oct 2020 5:38am)
