  • Me too please! by darkened_sol (Wed 20th Feb 2019 5:32pm)
  • If you like walks get yourself to the fairy pools or the quiraing. Absolutely beautiful. Stayed at an air bnb in Uig and drove north and was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the northern lights too! Shameful plug: I have some photos of some places on the island on my IG story but never got round to uploading. @darkened_sol by darkened_sol (Mon 11th Mar 2019 9:32pm)
  • Have you tried contacting them directly? If you're interested in working for the street team, I could perhaps help you get in touch with someone? by darkened_sol (Tue 27th Aug 2019 7:40pm)
  • Saw a Toyota CHR recently with the plate PI5 AFF near Pacific Quay. by darkened_sol (Thu 19th Dec 2019 5:29pm)
  • Nice, how did you get up there? by darkened_sol (Mon 30th Dec 2019 2:07pm)
  • Unrelated, but do you know if my resident permit would be invalidated now because I have moved address? Does it get updated automatically on the system? I had a visitor permit too for the odd visit from family. by darkened_sol (Fri 21st Feb 2020 11:59pm)
  • I have moved to a different address but not in the same permit area, and yes I have updated my new address with the DVLA. I assume the permits are not transferable then, is that correct? by darkened_sol (Sat 22nd Feb 2020 8:35pm)
  • Thank you! Couldn't find the number on Google maps. by darkened_sol (Thu 12th Nov 2020 5:40pm)
  • How come your rent stayed the same throughout the years? I was with Fineholm and they increased the rent pcm each year by a certain percentage and I was told this was normal for Scotland! by darkened_sol (Sun 17th Jan 2021 11:06pm)
  • Similar here to you that I don't really have a social circle since moving to Glasgow! I need to get myself out on hikes again too, so if y'all doing a hike I'm down! What games are you playing these days and /u/aroomn? Any chance either of you are into (relatively old) Japanese cars? Cause I'm a big fan of that too. Feel free to DM me both. Can you even have group DMs here? by darkened_sol (Sat 20th Nov 2021 1:17pm)
  • Sounds good to me! Grab a tea/coffee beforehand so we can confirm we're not all serial killers before venturing into the wilderness 😂 by darkened_sol (Sat 20th Nov 2021 1:32pm)
  • May I ask what did you do to make new friends? I haven't really made much effort in finding new friends after moving here as I think I feel somewhat content already how I am. However I suppose sometimes it's just nice to talk or chill out with someone that isn't your other half. by darkened_sol (Sat 20th Nov 2021 3:19pm)
  • What sort of cars are you into? by darkened_sol (Sat 20th Nov 2021 3:15pm)
  • Thanks, I'll try! Sometimes I wonder if I really am just anti social or too shy to reach out to get to know people. Then again, I've found that pushing past my comfort zone generally results in good outcomes and experiences. I'm not sure how to explain it, but something is making it slightly more difficult to do. For example, I remember when I came back after travelling in a different country, my attitude was slightly different, then it wears off. It's almost like being away has made a positive impact on my confidence and willingness to engage in social interactions with strangers. Does that even make sense? by darkened_sol (Sun 21st Nov 2021 11:20am)
  • Nice! I am mostly into Japanese cars, but I do appreciate other cars too! German-wise, it would be a dream to own a 190E Evo II, I'm not really sure what attracted me to this particular car, but DAMN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6wYM1DmlHg by darkened_sol (Sun 21st Nov 2021 11:26am)
  • This game looks pretty fun actually, how similar is it to Diablo 3, /u/tylikestoast? Shout me if this becomes a thing guys! by darkened_sol (Sun 21st Nov 2021 11:42am)
  • I'll be down for a bit of hiking! I don't have a bike so I won't be able to join in on the cycling though. Maybe something to consider in future. What are your favourite cycle routes? by darkened_sol (Sun 21st Nov 2021 11:50am)
  • I'll send you a chat / DM thing. by darkened_sol (Sun 21st Nov 2021 11:58am)

  • Oh nice! Mostly into Japanese cars myself. Not so much taking part in motorsports, although I have thought about putting the teg on a track maybe. I'm very much a track noob though. by darkened_sol (Sat 27th Nov 2021 8:43pm)
  • Alright people, what's the deal with the daily steamie? Is this a daily roundup and a place to chat about the events happening today? Just wanted to chime in and say that I'm looking to round up some more like minded people, who are in a similar situation to myself, looking to expand my social circle. I am looking to get back into hiking, but I am also open to other activities, be it casual gaming, or food or general chit chat. Am I allowed to post the link to the Discord here? There are more details in my post too :) cheers and have a good weekend all! by darkened_sol (Sat 4th Dec 2021 8:00pm)
  • I always get obsessed with traffic flow, and I can't quite get transport right. So I hear you're supposed to get buses to collect people in smaller areas to transit on higher capacity transport modes like the metro. There's always one spot where ~500 people want to get on a bus! I'm slowly improving though, hopefully. by darkened_sol (Sat 4th Dec 2021 9:34pm)
  • That's one thing I never tinkered with, I will have to check it out! by darkened_sol (Sat 4th Dec 2021 10:15pm)
  • Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out! by darkened_sol (Sun 5th Dec 2021 1:58pm)
  • I've got a Civic mk8 for a daily beater and an Integra DC5 in white. The salt has hit the roads already and I try not to drive it in winter, so it's tucked away for a little while :) by darkened_sol (Sun 5th Dec 2021 1:57pm)
  • Haha, do you have a picture for reference? by darkened_sol (Mon 6th Dec 2021 4:23pm)
  • What are you into? If you're up for a bit of hiking or walking when the sunshine is back I'd be up for it, probably a few others too in a group I'm in, we haven't met in real life yet. Would love to explore more of Scotland. Moved up from Manchester a few years ago (not a proper Manc btw so don't worry), never bothered trying to get to know people up here, been lazy / nervous about it too. Just about surviving putting up with other half through lockdown! Feel free to DM I'll invite you to the group I'm in? by darkened_sol (Sun 1st May 2022 10:12pm)
  • I don't have a bike but would be up for hiking! When I first moved here I did a few hikes on my own, then started going with the gf, but these days not that much hiking at all. I sent you a DM 👍 by darkened_sol (Tue 3rd May 2022 5:38pm)
  • Give Jay's grill bar a try if you like Korean BBQ. You get both the hotpot and the grill, cook your own food, ~£25 pp excluding drinks, all you can eat for 2 hours. by darkened_sol (Fri 6th May 2022 9:59pm)
  • When you think you've finished and then they bring out those ice cream rolls for you! The winter melon is great too, maybe next time I'll see if they can give me a whole one if I paid them haha by darkened_sol (Sat 7th May 2022 12:23am)
  • Haha! We usually get the medium spiciness, and sometimes ask for less peppercorns. You can use the chinese leafs and fried tofu to soak up all the oils :) by darkened_sol (Sun 8th May 2022 12:27pm)
  • Hold up! Edit: I will send in DM by darkened_sol (Wed 11th May 2022 2:02pm)
  • OP check this article out. You can get a year's meerkat movies and meals if you follow the guide. If you *accidentally* forget to buy the travel insurance, it will still work. The website will know you followed the affiliate link and assume you went through to payment. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/2for1-meerkat-movies-cinema-and-meerkat-meals-restaurant-trick/ by darkened_sol (Wed 11th May 2022 2:08pm)
  • Lidl do a fruit box for £1.50. It's the "ugly looking ones" but are perfectly fine. Worth checking out, but has some veg too. by darkened_sol (Mon 16th May 2022 10:31pm)
  • What laptop is it? What OS is on it? Do you have files you need to back up on it? Usually it's a fairly straightforward process to do yourself if you feel you can do it? I'd recommend getting an SSD as an upgrade too. by darkened_sol (Sat 28th May 2022 2:30pm)
  • Sorry I just got your reply. I just saw that someone else has offered to do it for you free of charge. I would have offered the same if you had any difficulties. All the best with it. by darkened_sol (Sat 28th May 2022 7:56pm)
  • I used to be a resident in the permit zone, I still have my parking permit somewhere. Not sure if it's still valid though. by darkened_sol (Tue 31st May 2022 10:57pm)
  • Customer service is terrible, in my experience anyway. The helpline rings out after 2 hours on the line. Had to open a Resolver case in the end just to get them to confirm that they renewed my contract for the price they said, and that the £50 welcome bonus was applied. They responded pretty quickly after that. I just didn't want to be hit with out of contract prices. I get that they were migrating Post Office customers too, but I guess customer service wasn't a priority. by darkened_sol (Sun 19th Jun 2022 12:13pm)
  • I think if you get in there early enough you might be OK. I assume once they are fully migrated things would be a bit better. I usually contact the ISP a month or two before to see if they can renew the contract for the same price and they usually accept. Good luck! by darkened_sol (Sun 19th Jun 2022 12:52pm)
  • Matthews is pretty good for supplies! Although I haven't been to Seewoo much these days, it seemed more expensive. Do you know of any more Chinese bakeries like China Court Bakery? Is that the only one in Glasgow? by darkened_sol (Sat 16th Jul 2022 9:53am)
  • Your comment reminded me of Satay street in Singapore. So good! Imagine a satay street in Glasgow! by darkened_sol (Sat 16th Jul 2022 9:59am)
  • Hey! It's not so bad in Yorkshire I'll have you know! 🤣 by darkened_sol (Sat 16th Jul 2022 10:05am)
  • Not sure if I should make a post for this but I got a permit for camping at Loch Long, Coilessan for free, if it's any use to anyone? Can send over the details if needed as I've decided to go a different spot! by darkened_sol (Sat 30th Jul 2022 4:04pm)
  • This is exactly how I left those cunts. I ran a speed test every hour and sent them a chart of that period that I wasn't getting their advertised speeds. They still said no. So I took it to Resolver, showed them my evidence, and it was all sorted. /u/thetentop hopefully you can do something similar. by darkened_sol (Mon 15th Aug 2022 9:16pm)
  • We tried visiting the other day but there was a sign to say they were closing at 2pm. I've not been back since. Did something happen? by darkened_sol (Mon 15th Aug 2022 9:20pm)
  • I have a friend of a friend that's recently moved from India to Glasgow. I haven't met him yet, but looking to do so soon! I could put you in touch if it is of any help? Maybe he can give you some advice if you have any concerns. by darkened_sol (Mon 15th Aug 2022 9:50pm)
  • I sent you details :) by darkened_sol (Fri 19th Aug 2022 6:35pm)
  • I moved from Yorkshire too. There are many of us here! (I think) by darkened_sol (Sat 29th Oct 2022 4:42pm)
  • You should check out recap in Cumbernauld. Pretty big warehouse and decent prices. by darkened_sol (Wed 9th Nov 2022 7:20pm)
  • There used to be a caravan on the route A ski jump, what's the story with that? Anyone know? by darkened_sol (Wed 9th Nov 2022 7:29pm)
  • It could well be dust more than anything. My laptop was running hot too under minimal load. Took it apart and saw that a perfect rectangle block of dust was gathered and blocking the fins on the heatsink. Removed it and it was running much cooler according to the temperature recorded by smc fan control. by darkened_sol (Thu 29th Dec 2022 8:52pm)
  • Hello! I wish I still had mine, was an entry level Nikon D3100. I had tons of fun doing long exposures when I started out learning how to use it. Then that turned into a fascination for short field of view shots with a low f stop for some of that bokeh effect! I don't know if this is of interest, but I used software called Hugin to stitch Panoramas. Got some really good high res photos from that. Post some results when you do get some shots! by darkened_sol (Thu 13th Apr 2023 9:58pm)
  • Can you tell us about your most interesting abandoned place or places? The last visit I did was Gartcosh and got up to the roof. Fascinating! by darkened_sol (Thu 13th Apr 2023 10:19pm)
  • How was it for you when they took the one growing horizontally out? Did that take ages to heal, as I assume they'd need to cut your gums to yank it out? by darkened_sol (Thu 13th Apr 2023 10:22pm)
  • Was this for a wisdom tooth? by darkened_sol (Tue 4th Jul 2023 11:44pm)
  • What shop was it? Such a good price for delicious mangoes! by darkened_sol (Wed 5th Jul 2023 12:32am)
  • What are your recommendations please? by darkened_sol (Mon 14th Aug 2023 8:03pm)
  • Are you serious? 😂 did you not ask what they needed that for?! by darkened_sol (Mon 14th Aug 2023 8:01pm)
  • Where are the good kitchens at? by darkened_sol (Mon 14th Aug 2023 8:05pm)
