  • I work at GSA, a colleague from my office rides in and parks on Renfrew At, opposite the GFT. 141 Renfrew St https://maps.app.goo.gl/WgUEcBqDMD5QkGLS8 by gm85g (Sun 29th Mar 2020 11:32pm)
  • I remember that view well, doesn't feel like 8 years ago left. by gm85g (Sat 8th Aug 2020 3:02pm)
  • What street is this where they both meet? by gm85g (Fri 14th Aug 2020 7:23pm)
  • A lot of cycle clubs use the A80 between the "Dolly Parton" roundabout at Stepps and Devro at Moodiesburn. Not totally flat and does have traffic lights but a decent long loop for TT training. Dual carriageway also means there is space to pass you. Also the roads round Glasgow airport are pretty flat from what I remember and mainly roundabouts rather than traffic lights. Not sure what the traffic levels are like. by gm85g (Mon 24th Aug 2020 11:27pm)
  • I've actually been cycling along the A80 as part of my commute in and out of Glasgow for nearly 10 years, yes sometimes people do drive quickly along the road but it doesn't happen that often. For the most party the speed limit is 50 with a large chunk in the middle set to 30. I feel relatively safe on that road to be honest. There isn't a lot of traffic on it since they opened the new M80 extension in 2011, some mornings/evening's I've maybe only been passed by about 6 or 7 vehicles in that entire stretch. I'm sure that clubs like Lenzie Velo, Glasgow Green, and Arria Wheelers still use it for winter training loops in the evenings. Bunches of 6 riders, sometimes 2 groups of them, do 3 or 4 loops as training rides as the whole road is lit and there is space to be passed safely. If you have a car take a drive up and have a look for yourself. :-) by gm85g (Tue 25th Aug 2020 7:09am)
  • I remember going to TFI Fridays with DJ Phil and they done 50p pint promos! Tables absolutely covered in drinks, so many pints it was crazy! That was back in 2004/2005 ish... Good times. Used to go from around lunchtime, head up to the 3rd or 4th floor to play pool then head down to the Barony Bar for a few hours, have a few drinks in there the head to Pizza Hut on Nelson Mandela Place and other the buffet, then head back to The Barony till about midnight. by gm85g (Tue 25th Aug 2020 10:35pm)
  • Oldie but goodie. Parliamo Glasgow https://youtu.be/T_Lk7qivXbw by gm85g (Sat 5th Sep 2020 8:05pm)
  • Pretty sure it's just the 1930's version of the 3 pin plug we all know today. These sockets are still common in South Africa and Pakistan I think? South Africa for for not sure about Pakistan to be honest... by gm85g (Fri 18th Sep 2020 10:07pm)
  • Fire brigade still on site investigating, not there every day as there is still of a lot of debris being removed to allow access to the areas the fire investigators need in to. In some places the rubble is around 4 metres deep and very awkward to get machinery in to help move it, or break it up. by gm85g (Thu 25th Mar 2021 7:42am)
  • As far as I'm aware the demolition job for the ABC has been put out to tender despite the fact that Reigart are on site up the hill... Top tip, don't walk in front of the ABC if you're heading up or down Sauchiehall At, that place really isn't in great shape. I was told so by the Reigart guys on site. by gm85g (Thu 25th Mar 2021 11:34am)
  • Definitely The Reid Building at the GSA, I work there, the white building I think is the Dental Hospital. by gm85g (Thu 1st Apr 2021 10:08pm)
  • Haven't been able to order online this week, just been back on the website now and it's still says there are none available to order. by gm85g (Fri 17th Dec 2021 12:36pm)
  • I don't have any photos but I remember it being £120 for the year or £9.99 per month for the unlimited card. It was good value as you only had to go twice a month and it paid for itself. by gm85g (Mon 20th Dec 2021 11:59am)
  • On a project that will last for 10 years? Whats the carbon footprint of that! by gm85g (Fri 21st Jan 2022 1:18pm)
  • Road tax is part of the council tax, the "road fund licence"/tax thing you pay for the car is emissions based as far as I remember. Nothing to do with roads. Road tax itself disappeared in the 1930's is think. by gm85g (Wed 9th Feb 2022 3:29pm)
  • Apply for a "pay on the Day card" from the council. I used to have one for Dundasvale when I worked at the GSA. https://glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=27186 by gm85g (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 7:42pm)
  • I was paying £7 per day which was about £1.50 less than the train, also during lockdown when public transport was off or I wanted to avoid being with other people it worked out better that way. Although pay and display parking was suspended during the pandemic there wasn't anywhere closer with free spaces that was easy for to use. by gm85g (Mon 5th Sep 2022 6:46am)
  • I was in The Griffin on Tuesday and stood at the bar for 2 hours with 3 work colleagues... Lots of other people where stood at the bar too. by gm85g (Fri 30th Sep 2022 9:50pm)
  • I worked there for 4 years, any time I spoke to T Cooper I found him to be perfectly pleasant to speak to. I have an interest in photography so would talk to him about that. I would agree the working conditions are still stuck in the 1970's, one of the worst jobs I ever had, left me a mental wreck 2 years after leaving. by gm85g (Sat 10th Jun 2023 9:23pm)
