  • Even calling ahead to pre-order at koko house is near impossible, their lines are always busy! by imanimiteiro (Sun 11th Apr 2021 10:30pm)
  • Apparently a lot of the services that got cancelled due to covid will be coming back on May 16th! by imanimiteiro (Sat 24th Apr 2021 3:07pm)
  • Is Via Italia closed for good? Used to love going there but walked by the other day and it was shut, inside looked a mess too by imanimiteiro (Sat 10th Jul 2021 8:00pm)
  • Starry Starry Night off of Byers Road and Retro Vintage on Otago Street are great for older vintage by imanimiteiro (Sun 11th Jul 2021 6:25pm)
  • Seconding Cossachok! I'm a vegetarian and to be completely honest the veggie menu isn't super expansive (as you'd expect from a Russian restaurant) but all the veggie dishes are absolutely delicious, and the drinks menu is amazing! by imanimiteiro (Mon 2nd Aug 2021 7:25pm)
  • Cafe Cossachok! Absolutely amazing Russian food and a fabulous (and affordable) drinks menu by imanimiteiro (Wed 18th Aug 2021 9:55am)
  • I'm gay, regularly take women here, they're always really nice to me...think this says more about you than cossachok bud by imanimiteiro (Wed 18th Aug 2021 6:05pm)
  • Thanks, I'll have a look! by imanimiteiro (Thu 26th Aug 2021 8:28pm)
  • Definitely worth a try, thanks! (I have been told some not so complimentary things about victoria bitters though...) by imanimiteiro (Thu 26th Aug 2021 8:28pm)
  • Unpopular opinion here but I actually love the stuff! Not sure if I love it enough to justify paying massive import fees, but would recommend trying it by imanimiteiro (Tue 19th Oct 2021 12:55am)
  • Seconding this, he did an absolutely great job on mine! He's at Lowkey Tattoo on Bath Street. by imanimiteiro (Thu 13th Jan 2022 6:03pm)
  • This is absolutely terrible, this restaurant is amazing! If there's anything we can do other than support them until the end of the month, I'd be happy to do it. by imanimiteiro (Tue 1st Mar 2022 6:43pm)
  • Several clubs in Glasgow will turn you away for no other reason than having a foreign driver's license, even if it's a completely valid photo ID. by imanimiteiro (Tue 15th Mar 2022 2:29pm)
  • It's really not that odd. Yes, you might get knocked back for it, but bouncers will knock you back for anything. by imanimiteiro (Wed 30th Mar 2022 6:39pm)
  • I got one sent all the way from Cornwall, with a lovely handwritten message saying that the world is ruined and war will never end until the second coming of Jesus. Straight in the bin. by imanimiteiro (Thu 14th Apr 2022 2:50pm)
  • Some hotels ask for ID on check in. by imanimiteiro (Mon 18th Apr 2022 9:00am)
  • From my own personal experience with budget hotels, the easyhotel does ask for ID but the motel one by central and the premier inn by glasgow airport don't. (I'm over 18 but pretty young-looking, so if I don't get asked for ID, you probably won't either.) by imanimiteiro (Mon 18th Apr 2022 12:09pm)
  • I once met the loveliest homeless woman on Sauchiehall street, I went into the shop and bought her requests and then she tried to give me a bottle of vodka in exchange, I couldn't take it but I stayed with her and had a nice wee chat (and before people come in saying "oh she was just going to spend it on drink and drugs!" i'm a student, that's exactly what I would've spent it on lol) by imanimiteiro (Wed 20th Apr 2022 10:49am)
  • Yeah definitely agree, but I didn't have any cash on me and there wasn't an ATM so I just offered to buy her whatever she wanted. by imanimiteiro (Wed 20th Apr 2022 6:40pm)
  • I've gotten into birdwatching! There's a free app called BirdID- Nord University that you can use to identify birds and quiz yourself on species, and there's another app called BirdTrack you can use to track them and put your records into a UK-wide database. Every little helps, and even if you're in an urban area you'd be surprised as to how many species there are! by imanimiteiro (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 8:30pm)
  • It's definitely tex-mex rather than authentic mexican, but the food is pretty good and the restaurant loona cool. by imanimiteiro (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 9:36pm)
  • Apocom Kitchen for Nigerian, Calabash for East African, Julie's Kopitiam for Malaysian, Byblos Cafe for Lebanese, Boteco do Brasil for Brazilian. RIP Cossachok, gone but never forgotten. by imanimiteiro (Thu 28th Apr 2022 10:36pm)
  • Ooh, thanks for letting me know! by imanimiteiro (Fri 29th Apr 2022 10:26am)
  • The RSPB reserve at Lochwinnoch! You can see great crested grebes. by imanimiteiro (Mon 23rd May 2022 6:07pm)
  • The house at Pollock Country Park. Then I'd ban visitors from entry and live out my perfect Victorian life. by imanimiteiro (Tue 31st May 2022 12:53am)
  • Yeah, no chance, maybe you might manage to get into one with it but you'll be incredibly lucky. I've not had a problem with it at pubs, though. by imanimiteiro (Tue 31st May 2022 11:35pm)
  • RIP Cafe Cossachok, gone but not forgotten. by imanimiteiro (Wed 8th Jun 2022 3:04pm)
  • Byblos Cafe in the west end does it, so good by imanimiteiro (Wed 8th Jun 2022 7:55pm)
  • As far as I know, they were already badly struggling during the pandemic, and then the war led to them getting some negative reviews from shitebags who can't understand that the guy who pours out your vodka isn't responsible for the invasion of Ukraine. by imanimiteiro (Thu 9th Jun 2022 5:51pm)
  • Closed unfortunately, too bad because it really was one of the best restaurants in town :( by imanimiteiro (Sat 11th Jun 2022 4:24pm)
  • Have you found anywhere that sells Great Northern beer? Only place I can find it is an australian imports website that has a very hefty delivery surcharge to my area. by imanimiteiro (Sat 11th Jun 2022 4:22pm)
  • The deep fried rye bread with garlic? Those were absolutely the best, plus the drinks were amazing by imanimiteiro (Sat 11th Jun 2022 6:09pm)
  • I'd recommend getting a different taxi than uber, uber drivers can and will still cancel a trip even after accepting it which can leave you stuck by imanimiteiro (Mon 13th Jun 2022 7:41pm)
  • Markies by imanimiteiro (Tue 14th Jun 2022 7:10pm)
  • It's what everybody calls it in the highlands! by imanimiteiro (Wed 15th Jun 2022 4:44pm)

  • Curry Cottage! by imanimiteiro (Wed 22nd Jun 2022 11:04pm)
  • Other parts of Maryhill might be a bit dodgier, but the intersection at Queen Margaret Drive is basically hillhead. You'll be fine. by imanimiteiro (Wed 6th Jul 2022 2:21pm)
  • Become a trained falconer (or hire one but that's not quite as fun). Harris hawks in particular are very good at scaring off seagulls. by imanimiteiro (Thu 7th Jul 2022 10:51pm)
  • Why stop at just one? Build a hawk army. by imanimiteiro (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:08pm)
  • Can confirm that Banh Mi and Tea's vegan options are good! by imanimiteiro (Sat 16th Jul 2022 5:22pm)
  • Seconding this, you should not be taking legal advice from anyone on reddit (especially immigration advice, which is very regulated). Go to your local Citizen's Advice- they'll be able to help you with the basics, and if the case is too complicated for them they can pass it onto a specialist. by imanimiteiro (Wed 27th Jul 2022 12:23am)
  • Avoid Buckingham Terrace, unless you enjoy getting berated by receptionists and never getting an appointment. by imanimiteiro (Tue 2nd Aug 2022 4:36pm)
  • In my experience, it's just as bad here. If I go out on a weekend, I can reasonably assume that I'm going to be sexually harassed, and I wouldn't be too shocked if I was touched either. It's got nothing to do with a Glasgow vs London or Scotland vs England thing, or how dodgy a neighbourhood is, and everything to do with men being creeps. by imanimiteiro (Wed 10th Aug 2022 12:59pm)
  • Even the cheap hotels have spiked in price- they're all doing surge pricing, the only way to try and get a good deal is to book months in advance on a random weekday when there's nothing else going on. You might get lucky. by imanimiteiro (Wed 17th Aug 2022 12:19pm)
  • What are her interests? by imanimiteiro (Wed 17th Aug 2022 6:43pm)
  • Try some of the Asian, Indian, or Middle Eastern markets, they usually have some great ones. Highly recommend pu-erh and kashmiri chai! Alternatively, for a non-local suggestion, the Kent & Sussex Tea and Coffee Company has a website with a large selection. by imanimiteiro (Sat 27th Aug 2022 5:51pm)
  • If you're under the age of 22, you can get it for free, don't know if this would apply to you? by imanimiteiro (Sun 25th Sep 2022 8:55pm)
  • I'd go there for drinks, but not for food. by imanimiteiro (Wed 19th Oct 2022 8:47pm)
  • Are you planning to come on a work visa? What field are you in? by imanimiteiro (Sun 20th Nov 2022 11:55pm)
  • Speak to Citizens Advice or Shelter. You're better off getting professional, Scotland-specific advice than asking on reddit. by imanimiteiro (Mon 28th Nov 2022 6:00pm)
  • No luck getting ahold of them here either. Phone calls to various numbers, webchat, email, nothing works. I've had to make a formal complaint. by imanimiteiro (Thu 15th Dec 2022 3:34pm)
  • Had a customer spell out her address with the phonetic alphabet...using S for sugar and D for daddy. by imanimiteiro (Thu 15th Dec 2022 3:47pm)
  • How much notice have they given him? Even if one of the exceptions to the eviction ban applies, they still need to give him the legally required amount of notice. I'd advise contacting Shelter Scotland as soon as possible (or the CAB, but they may be closed over the holidays). by imanimiteiro (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 9:31pm)
  • Seconding this, very cool birds. by imanimiteiro (Tue 10th Jan 2023 1:59am)
  • The supercube karaoke rooms are pretty fun, they do a few mocktail pitchers. by imanimiteiro (Mon 23rd Jan 2023 12:28am)
  • Honestly, if you really didn't want to hang around, you could probably just get on an earlier bus once the concert finishes. The buses from Glasgow to Edinburgh are so frequent that it's not hard to get on one unbooked. by imanimiteiro (Thu 26th Jan 2023 7:34pm)
