  • And here I was, as a naive Brazilian who just about moved to Glasgow, expecting to see my first snow in decades today. by luctesthesoren (Tue 7th Dec 2021 9:52pm)
  • Thanks! 😁❄️ by luctesthesoren (Wed 8th Dec 2021 12:23pm)
  • Don't know if that suits your needs, but there are swimming lessons for children in Glasgow Uni's gym by luctesthesoren (Fri 8th Jul 2022 3:31pm)
  • Thanks for replying. That's pretty much all I needed to know. Cause if it was a legal issue I would have no choice, but knowing that it's not I can at least try to bargain for a little more time. Also thanks for the tip on Shelter Scotland! by luctesthesoren (Fri 8th Jul 2022 10:55pm)
  • This information came up during the reference checks. The manager of the University halls probably mentioned this when asked. But I totally agree, is none of their business. My wife is angrier with the fact that they're trying to control us than with the actual hassle this will potentially cause, and I can't argue with that. by luctesthesoren (Fri 8th Jul 2022 11:37pm)
  • Aye, that is in the plans for Monday morning. I did some research on the letting agency and reviews seem to be mixed, but not too different from other agencies I've looked up during the process. But I'll try to do a little bit more of research now that you've mentioned it. And the reference checks turned out weirdly. They said we had been declined, and listed three reasons for it. Two of them were money-related (which were more technicalities than anything, since we were able to prove we have sufficient income to rent), and this was the third. Regarding the other two, they said they could let it pass if we could provide a guarantor, which we did. But even after we had agreed on that they made sure to ask again for proof of notice to leave the University halls before the end of July. by luctesthesoren (Fri 8th Jul 2022 11:56pm)
  • Thanks, you were very helpful! 😁 To be fair this strikes me more as obliviousness to the nature of the University contract than anything else. If they wanted to just straight up decline us they would have already, or at least I think so. But just knowing that this has no legal base and isn't even common practice puts me in a way better position to talk to them on Monday. by luctesthesoren (Sat 9th Jul 2022 12:19am)
  • Thanks, that's all very reassuring to know. I haven't had the opportunity to properly reply to them on this subject, so hopefully I'll be in a better position to do so on Monday. by luctesthesoren (Sat 9th Jul 2022 12:22am)
  • Agree that 'getting toned' doesn't exist, but depending on your situation you can always go for a body recomposition and gain muscle while in a calorie deficit. I've been doing this for about a month now, consistently burning fat and putting on muscle at the same time. This usually works best for beginners, and considering OP's background I think it could suit them. by luctesthesoren (Sat 9th Jul 2022 11:26am)
  • I first came to the UK on holidays in 2019. Spent a week in London, then another week in York, and finally a week in Edinburgh before heading back home. Water became progressively more drinkable as we went up. by luctesthesoren (Wed 13th Jul 2022 12:23am)
  • Thanks! We've already sorted it. Emailed the agent on Monday and they got back to me simply saying that we were all clear. We're carefully reading the contract now, and should get the keys to the new flat in about 10 days. Can't wait! by luctesthesoren (Fri 15th Jul 2022 12:01am)
  • Leave the guy be. Pretty sure he's achieved a world record by now of how many times you can play the same song over and over again without ever changing it. Playing it out of tune is just his way of adding a little bit of spice to the song. 😂 by luctesthesoren (Sat 16th Jul 2022 4:53pm)
  • Ikr 😂😂😂😂. This one has been a rollercoaster ride. by luctesthesoren (Sun 17th Jul 2022 1:55pm)
  • Been in Glasgow for a year. Always there when I go by the statue. In fact, the first cones I saw here were on random statues at Kelvingrove Park, but these were removed, sadly. by luctesthesoren (Fri 22nd Jul 2022 1:32pm)
  • Was not in my plans, but now that you mention it... by luctesthesoren (Thu 28th Jul 2022 11:30pm)
  • Can't defend the violin Despacito guy without being savagely downvoted. I got 30 downvotes the other day for this exact reason 😂. by luctesthesoren (Tue 2nd Aug 2022 11:00am)
  • Not sure if it was intentional, but the overall shape funnily reminds me of a hairy coo's face, making it very Scottish as well as non-binary. Well done! Not NB myself, but would be willing to buy one with bi or overall pride colours. by luctesthesoren (Wed 10th Aug 2022 5:14pm)
  • Right? Was gonna say that it makes everything look like it's from the original Resident Evil games. by luctesthesoren (Sun 16th Apr 2023 10:16pm)
  • Really far if you're in City Center, but Mary Stewart building at UoG's Garscube Campus is a great place to study. Very peaceful and quiet (except for exam season of course), surrounded by lots of green, and I think it's open to anyone. Not the easiest to get to, but if you're in city centre a bus and a 20-minute walk up Bearsden Road should do it. by luctesthesoren (Fri 26th May 2023 10:41am)
