  • This area is actually currently in planning stages for redevelopment and open for public consultation until February 14th! Link to the architect's post about it [here](https://www.instagram.com/p/B52n4vLlUup/?igshid=1grxrv6640hge) by misavanderrohe (Sat 28th Dec 2019 8:39pm)
  • Dundee - cheap - cheerful - people are sound - sunniest city in Scotland - the Tay is beautiful - everything's in walking distance - the 24 hour bakery (need I say any more) Studied there for 5 years n I was glad to leave in the end bcos it is small but it'll always hold a lil place in my heart and I'm rooting for its continued improvement by misavanderrohe (Tue 28th Jan 2020 11:34pm)
  • I'm taking (japanese) classes with live language rn and they're really good! They've moved our class to zoom currently and that's where the next block of classes I've signed up for are going to be, so you never know might get them before lockdown is over! by misavanderrohe (Wed 15th Apr 2020 4:58pm)

  • One thing I'd note as well if you're looking to find a place that allows pets is, as others were saying, it's mostly just at the landlord's discretion. When I was looking last summer, one of the properties agreement just added 200 onto the deposit as a pet deposit. So that's something to also consider, that you could potentially need to add more to your deposit if you're wanting to think about what to expect! Not everywhere is like that tho as the place I needed up renting was fine with pets at no extra cost! by misavanderrohe (Wed 30th Jun 2021 11:51pm)
  • That's good to know thanks! Managed to get one but they've said not till October so looks like it might be similar then! by misavanderrohe (Wed 25th Aug 2021 2:53pm)
  • Amazing thank you! When I last contacted them they said they weren't taking on new NHS patients but just gave a call there and they said they're able to take new patients just won't get an appointment until October. Thankfully that's fine as I just wanted a check up/get registered so thanks again!! by misavanderrohe (Wed 25th Aug 2021 2:52pm)
  • A little bit further away but the IMAX at Perth playhouse is good! by misavanderrohe (Sun 10th Oct 2021 3:58pm)
  • Graduated in 2019, first salary was 22.5k - similar known underpaid field but masters essentially required for graduate (architecture). Not ideal but it's a starting point and it had other perks of the job ie having a work/life balance and it not being an unsaid rule that we all do unpaid overtime every week which is v common in my field. by misavanderrohe (Thu 27th Jan 2022 10:39pm)
  • Tell me about it! Not bad actually given the pandemic! my company were really good to the staff over covid and understanding of life issues the past few years. I got a payrise when I decided to do my part 3 and a cost of living payrise again this year (didn't get one last year cos pandemic issues but they were open and transparent about why so was understandable) I'm only on 25k now so not a huge amount more but the part 3 training I've gotten has been great (all part 3 costs covered which accounted about 2k and 10 days additional paid study leave) with loads of help from other staff and open to letting me request different types of experience I was looking for. Hopefully will be due another payrise once I hear back about my results and (fingers crossed) qualify! by misavanderrohe (Thu 27th Jan 2022 10:57pm)

  • Look for locks that are secured by design and PAS 24 certified - they're the standards used for security design from intruders etc so you know they should hold up. by misavanderrohe (Sun 27th Aug 2023 4:26pm)
  • You can check on the council website to see if there's a BW for the flat and what it entails. You can also contact them to report works being done without a warrant or a dangerous building as per the link - https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17319 Good luck getting a response however, the general phone numbers aren't manned much as most of the staff work from home so you'll probably get better response via email but I guess that's not as anonymous. by misavanderrohe (Wed 20th Sep 2023 10:27pm)
  • Potentially, they might be able to point you in the right direction but not sure if you'd get in to speak to someone without an appointment! If you are in person it's 231 George St, round the corner from the fancy city chambers bit on George Square. Worthwhile trying the phone number during the hours it says it's active and see if you can get through first. by misavanderrohe (Wed 20th Sep 2023 10:40pm)
  • Can do a loop from byres road along great western road then down crow road and along Clarence drive or vice versa - there's only one or two traffic lights you need to stop and and it's not v hilly (minus Clarence drive but I normally stop at the bottom of it) and it's main roads so well lit. Depending where you start/finish it's about 5/6K - it's nice as well to swing by Bingham's pond and do a lap or two round there and back if you don't want to go all the way. Only downside is the byres road section can be busy with pedestrians depending on what time of day you go. https://preview.redd.it/i87cp5ca4lpb1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7951d4c5e30bf2b8cf60177f1c62d9c8dbe24a7a by misavanderrohe (Thu 21st Sep 2023 11:19am)
