Interests:

  • House Martin Barbers, Bath Street. Little expensive (>£40-£50) but fantastic. All great barbers. Plus they have an in house barista and bar (both free if you're getting a haircut) also a cigar selection (not free), sometimes a little live music. by rossdrew (Mon 25th Mar 2019 1:11pm)
  • It's not a carry out but Alla Turca Grill on Pitt Street is fantastic by rossdrew (Mon 25th Mar 2019 1:16pm)
  • Been going to Best Kebab for 15 years, the rumours are nonsense. Chips, cheese kebab sauce or chicken sarbeni, fantastic. Not the best place in Glasgow I'll give you and a little expensive but these rumours about it being manky are nonsense. by rossdrew (Mon 25th Mar 2019 1:15pm)
  • Few reasons really, no queues, relaxing atmosphere and a personal service. Have a whiskey, relax, appointments are timeboxed at 45 minutes so they can take their time, make suggestions, nobodies in a rush. by rossdrew (Mon 25th Mar 2019 3:54pm)
  • Longish hair, beard and a love of whiskey. ;) by rossdrew (Mon 25th Mar 2019 5:11pm)
  • The average spend in Glasgow is equivalent to three rounds and a taxi home in Edinburgh? I call bullshit. by rossdrew (Thu 4th Apr 2019 12:36pm)
  • ScotRail new scheduling system? by rossdrew (Wed 10th Apr 2019 11:29pm)
  • Walk around to the other side, Sydney/Melbourne street, can slide past the fence. Nothing there. Just a shelter by rossdrew (Mon 22nd Apr 2019 8:38pm)
  • Gallowgate is fine near the city centre, further away you go the worse it gets. I'd suggest moving a little further north to Duke Street. 10 years ago it was just like the Gallowgate, these days it's becoming a bit of a hipster studenty area. Gallowgate will follow in the next 10 years. by rossdrew (Tue 23rd Jul 2019 10:14pm)
  • The Gallowgate isn't Calton. It's Calton, Bridgeton, Camlachie, Parkead and Merchant City. by rossdrew (Tue 23rd Jul 2019 10:11pm)
  • The grimmest pub in Glasgow is the Bay Horse on Bath Street. It's been Huggy Bears, Flares, The Tall Ship and a million others but it's always been an utter dive. It should be a tourist attraction, it's so bad. Imagine if you got a 17 year old to decorate a bathroom, then allowed her, any pals younger than her or older than her mother to go there and drink watered down cheap booze decanted into the bottles of medium quality booze. Then you might be close to how grim this place is. To add an extra level of class, I once witnessed the DJ snorting coke from the wee stand on the tiny dancefloor where his decks were. The fact that **anyone** thinks places like Waxys or Firewater even come close is mental. You people need to get out more :P by rossdrew (Wed 24th Jul 2019 4:03pm)
  • I've heard that karaoke. I feel for you. by rossdrew (Wed 24th Jul 2019 7:34pm)
  • It would be "cringe as fuck" to someone who thinks the Bay Horse is "an institution". Just because it's punters belong in one, doesn't make it one. by rossdrew (Wed 24th Jul 2019 7:32pm)
  • The Grant Arms. I used to run the pub across the road (then called The Argyl), I also popped in there a few times before the Catty. Wee bit of a shitehole but not a standout one. Iron Horse is the same, wee bit shite, pretty standard level of shite though. by rossdrew (Thu 25th Jul 2019 12:36pm)
  • Really? They do Uncle Dukes and Buffalo Trace for the bourbon side. Neither are considered anything but standard whiskey. Think the barmaid was just a tadger. That said, whiskey on the rocks is a surefire way to make sure you don't taste the whiskey anyway. by rossdrew (Thu 25th Jul 2019 2:05pm)
  • I’d tend to agree that ice with an upmarket whiskey is a waste. You’d be as well buying cheap crap, ice kills all subtlety but Brewdog don’t do nice whiskey so my verdict, she was a tadger who had no idea what good whiskey is. by rossdrew (Thu 25th Jul 2019 5:12pm)
  • Chips, cheese, kebab sauce! by rossdrew (Fri 2nd Aug 2019 7:55am)
  • Sarbenis haven't changed in over a decade. Kebab sauce has gotten a little watery though, used to be like vegetable soup. by rossdrew (Fri 2nd Aug 2019 2:28pm)
  • Been going there for about 14 years. The prices are pretty rough for what you get and it's filled with ned club rejects later on in the night that means it's turned into a fight club a few times. Skint, agree KB'd neds angry at the prices. There's all sorts of made up nasty stories about the place but that's the truth. No food poisoning (never heard of one and most of my mates have eaten there for over a decade) and nobody behind the counter starts fights. by rossdrew (Fri 2nd Aug 2019 2:27pm)
  • 2 in the morning at the start of the east end (probably pished) and your suggestion is get a taxi to the south side for a kebab? by rossdrew (Fri 2nd Aug 2019 2:30pm)

  • The Louden used to be split down the middle between Wombles and Vegetable farmers, they used to throw bottles at Celtic buses. That was less than 20 years ago. I’ve not been in since we ran the next pub along (Quarter Gill at the time) then but there was no zero tolerance. So if that is the case now, it’s not always been. by rossdrew (Sat 31st Aug 2019 10:29pm)
  • My bad. by rossdrew (Sat 31st Aug 2019 10:33pm)
  • Van Winkles Gallowgate. Fantastic cocktails, fantastic selection of bourbons, great food, awesome beer garden. Cheep. As. Fuck. by rossdrew (Thu 12th Sep 2019 1:24pm)
  • Stealing from one of Glasgow’s true legends. You will go down in history in the same boat as the fuckers who stole booze from The Clutha. by rossdrew (Thu 21st Nov 2019 9:39am)
  • Because people want Indy at all costs despite knowing the party that can get it is completely incompetent. What they don’t realise is that there aren’t enough competent MSPs to run the country. Indy is a bad idea right now. by rossdrew (Tue 10th Dec 2019 9:21pm)
  • But she is an absolute twit. Put in place by SNP as an emotional vote winner. Tells wee sad stories and does nothing. Her opinion on anything is worth less than zero, she’s just a puppet. by rossdrew (Tue 10th Dec 2019 9:26pm)
  • Scotland is fucked as long as people are blinded by an irrational view of Indy. The UK is fucked because of the grievance politics created by new labour and forged in iron by the SNP. Until they are gone, Scotland will go nowhere. The SNP cannot achieve Indy and they are incompetent fools whose policies are created to win votes and sell Indy. I’ve always voted independent because party politics is a bad vote, always. This time I’ll vote whatever lowers the SNP power, sadly. It’s just a waiting game till they prove their incompetence to their followers. Shite situation. Indy isn’t a bad idea. We don’t have anyone who can execute it. by rossdrew (Tue 10th Dec 2019 9:33pm)

  • Less votes for labour means labour? Lmao by rossdrew (Wed 11th Dec 2019 9:01am)
  • I know that's what you've been led to believe yes. But If rUK Tory marginally beat out Labour and Scotland all votes SNP...you get Tory. In no scenario does voting SNP help labour. by rossdrew (Wed 11th Dec 2019 2:29pm)

  • We love foreigners, especially those that speak English :PWe love to party. Our music scene is fantasticOur museums are free and great but don't expect too many Da Vincis or Rembrant, as Barenaked Ladies once said "This is a great place to see Can Goughs B sides" Don't talk about religion or Glasgow football teams and you'll upset no one. Laugh about our accent with us, it'll take you a while to understand and we're used to it. Don't stress, you'll love everything but the weather. by rossdrew (Tue 3rd Mar 2020 8:15am)

  • I did it for years, just used the megabus. Half the price, even less if you book in advance. Takes a bit longer but £400 to commute is nuts. I moved to Edinburgh then found out it’s so much more expensive to live in Edinburgh I was worse off so moved across the bridge to Fife, best of both worlds. by rossdrew (Tue 24th Aug 2021 8:24am)

  • I’m a data scientist. “Woke media” isn’t the source here, all data is. Also stop using the word “woke”, you sounds like a fool. by rossdrew (Sat 6th Nov 2021 1:46pm)
  • Maybe we’re not needing guns because there’s very little serious violent crime. Maybe that’s because there are no guns? Maybe that’s been proven correct in America if you’d open your eyes by rossdrew (Sat 6th Nov 2021 1:45pm)
  • And of course committing a crime in America automatically allows you to be killed. Healthy by rossdrew (Sat 6th Nov 2021 4:14pm)
  • I think you’ll find there’s a difference between something existing and something else being a massive issue. FYI: U.S. STILL beats U.K. in stabbing sand acid attacks per capita. by rossdrew (Sat 6th Nov 2021 5:13pm)
  • East ender here. Grew up deep in the east end. Had many an occasion to defend myself, was a victim of crime a few times even saw a couple guns. Not once would a gun have made the situation better. Not even close. by rossdrew (Sat 6th Nov 2021 6:56pm)
  • I mean that’s just as blatantly false as it is small minded. by rossdrew (Sat 6th Nov 2021 7:14pm)
  • You have no idea what it costs to get a gun. by rossdrew (Sun 7th Nov 2021 12:23am)
  • That’s what gun culture does. by rossdrew (Sun 7th Nov 2021 9:03am)
  • Fantastic counter argument there, kid. by rossdrew (Sun 7th Nov 2021 9:07am)
  • You think more guns in the country for protection would stop rapes? Actually America once again proves you wrong. FAR more rapes per capita. Because legal guns don’t disappear, they get lost, stolen, sold and end up in the hands of criminals. More legal guns means more illegal guns and legal guns don’t overpower illegal guns or give victims a chance. They just mean as many dead victims as criminals. These dumb emotional grasps for victory in gun culture are pathetic. Just because you’re too stupid to grasp that doesn’t mean people are cowards. by rossdrew (Sun 7th Nov 2021 9:16am)

  • Look up the definition of “force” please by rossdrew (Wed 10th Nov 2021 6:35pm)
  • Then you should also probably Google the definition of “force”. It’s not hard, looking it up would have been quicker than writing a response in defence of the incorrect definition of a word. by rossdrew (Wed 10th Nov 2021 9:22pm)
  • No threat or violence, still free to exercise free will. No force. Imagine that. Sounds like it to you? Did you copy paste without reading? Lol by rossdrew (Wed 10th Nov 2021 9:26pm)
  • You’re confusing force with restricting luxuries. It’s not the same. by rossdrew (Wed 10th Nov 2021 9:56pm)
  • It’s utterly mental to me that despite this conversation you still think “force” means you can’t put people and businesses at risk just because you feel like it. That you cannot distinguish luxuries from human needs or freedom from freedom to restrict others freedom. That people would need to put their health at risk rather than you putting your pub visit at risk and that you think that’s acceptable because it’s what you prefer. by rossdrew (Wed 10th Nov 2021 10:20pm)

  • Lived in Glasgow 30 years and never felt inconvenienced by the m8. Managed 4 in Edinburgh being inconvenienced by their transport system which means it’s easier to get to its city centre from most places outside it than it is from anywhere in the city before moving somewhere else easier to get to Edinburgh city centre. by rossdrew (Fri 10th Dec 2021 9:56pm)

But you can’t get to Glasgow cos you managed to end up 5 minutes outside the city centre and it’s a 40 minute bus back, somehow. Aye it’s gorgeous. About as practical as a concrete condom. by rossdrew (Wed 9th Feb 2022 9:31pm)

  • Our active nukes are in the sea. Those are backups, months from cycling in. No tactical value in a war that will last days. by rossdrew (Thu 24th Feb 2022 7:23pm)
  • I know Faslane. I know it well. So we’ll in fact I know that there are no live nukes there. They’re on Trident at sea. While it may be a target it way down the list and nowhere near the first to be hit. Blowing something up which is weeks to months away from contribution to a nuclear war is a waste of a nuke when you could be taking out ground based launch systems. I’m a little worried you think there are people in Scotland who don’t know what it is. by rossdrew (Thu 24th Feb 2022 7:26pm)
  • Nuclear weapons have had near misses?! When. by rossdrew (Sun 27th Feb 2022 5:44pm)
  • I’d hit Greenock with a nuke by rossdrew (Sun 27th Feb 2022 5:46pm)
  • Faslane is not a high priority target. Our nukes are live and fired from sea. Hitting Faslane affects only refilling and if the Russians are worried about the 20th nuke to be fired and not the first 20, they won’t exist long enough to hit the 20th. Calm down. by rossdrew (Sun 27th Feb 2022 5:41pm)
  • Nuclear bombs don’t go off when you drop them. They don’t even go off if they’ve been in explosions. They need primed. by rossdrew (Sun 27th Feb 2022 6:14pm)
  • That’s not a near miss. That’s a trained individual in charge of nukes and not a hot headed moron. Calling something a close call when given every opportunity, didn’t happen is nuts. by rossdrew (Sun 27th Feb 2022 6:17pm)
  • Triggering mechanisms firing also doesn’t indicate detonation. You can tell that because three of them fired and didn’t detonate. The one that “came close” wasn’t actually close at all. by rossdrew (Sun 27th Feb 2022 6:16pm)
  • Why Japanese? by rossdrew (Mon 28th Feb 2022 12:12pm)
  • As a whetstone sharpener myself I was confused why you called it Japanese. Whetstoning is not a Japanese technique and the only thing different about Japans method is the type of stone they use, which is difficult to translate to the grit measurement the rest of the world use. So nobody but Japanese really use it except for traditionalism on traditional Japanese blades, whose metal is generally inferior. by rossdrew (Mon 28th Feb 2022 12:35pm)

  • I love a drink but also love non-drinking activities. Cooking classes are great for meeting people, in fact night classes of any sort. Local clubs like rugby or bowling. There’s a fair amount of drinking that goes down but not everyone and doesn’t usually get heavy till after the games, met lots of friends through rugby. You can scoop up the light drinkers and do something later. If you’re a reader book clubs are awesome for finding like minded people. If you’re healthy there are lots of walking groups. If you’re even slightly fit I’d recommend rowing classes; great fun, great low-impact fitness and lots of interesting people. Not a lot of heavy drinkers in my experience. by rossdrew (Sun 27th Mar 2022 9:37am)

  • It’s not the social issue the government have issue with. It’s the SNP trying to blindly copy Portugal thinking it’s the same thing. Let’s be like Denmark, no Iceland, no Portugal. Let’s fucking think for ourselves Nicola! by rossdrew (Tue 3rd May 2022 8:07am)
  • And THAT is the reason it’s fucking stupid. As long as I do it positively it can’t possibly go wrong. by rossdrew (Tue 3rd May 2022 11:38am)
  • And what solution do you think you’re describing? by rossdrew (Tue 3rd May 2022 11:38am)
  • Because simplifying complex political moves in different cultures, political climates and economies to single policies is utterly stupid. U.K. made guns illegal so gun laws work. Except that’s not why there’s low gun deaths in the U.K. as the simplest example. by rossdrew (Tue 3rd May 2022 11:35am)
  • Ok, I'll explain it a third time for you. Try and keep up this time. It's ok to take what other countries are doing and learn from it. THAT is what countries do all the time. It's not ok to take a ***single*** ***policy*** that another country implemented as part of a swathe of policies making up a very complex program and implement it. Ignoring said program, the differences in economy, culture and politics. Then call it by the name of program and not the policy. Portugal implemented shooting dens as part of of a much wider program of social healthifying drug use including decriminalising and geographical planning. Leading to a much more open society as a whole, across the entire geography towards drugs supported by safe use programs. The SNP want to implement shooting dens and CALL it alone public healthifying drug use. No wider program, no study feasibility. They want to do it in in one place, Glasgow. Decriminalising isn't even properly on the bill and if it ever is it will be a long time away. So what you get in that scenario is ensuring that most addicts move to Glasgow and do something the entirely of Scotland and it's laws consider a criminal activity under the watchful eye of the law, who can do nothing about it. Then you have multiples of the number of drug addicts in Glasgow and the only thing different is that they're not dying as often. I have news for you, drug addicts don't stop being addicts because we sit them next to a councillor while they inject heroin. Ah free prescriptions. You can't understand the argument I'm making so you create a straw man to argue with. Bet you understand that argument just as badly. by rossdrew (Tue 3rd May 2022 1:44pm)
  • Did I correct spelling and grammer? (we don't all speed in single letter words, kid) Yes. Are you suggesting I changed my point somehow? by rossdrew (Tue 3rd May 2022 1:45pm)

  • Been out of Glasgow for 8 years. It was too shop heavy to survive covid. SNP policies have compounded its decline. Plans of making a drug capitol with free hit-up places have hastened junkie (if that word offends you, hard luck) migration. All the smaller towns around Scotland are doing great now. Glasgow will come back, it’s just waiting for the big commercial property crash to reset the bubbling costs and last of the companies who don’t need offices getting with the program. It’s been through worse…on that subject… Those of you saying Glasgow was better in the 90s are kidding yourselves. Glasgow was an utter hole in the 90s. Litter was way worse, crime was way higher, drug abuse out of control, city centre wasn’t safe, east end was the Wild West, knife crime rife, Thatcherite policies helped push people back into their local zones creating territorial and us-them mindsets of low trust. I worked youth work then, helped with the move of knife crime from criminal to health issue. Glasgow today is a cute puppy in comparison, even to an outsider like I’ve become. by rossdrew (Sun 7th Aug 2022 7:26am)

  • Scotland has done everything possible to remove the Tories? How so? by rossdrew (Fri 21st Oct 2022 4:43pm)
  • That’s everything Scotland could possibly have done is it? Just voting SNP was everything in our power? Even if there’s no way that could increase anti ScotNat sentiment in the UK resulting in a rise in conservative mentality, I’m sceptical we even made an effort. Did the government do everything it could by calling all parties just variations of Tories? No, because the Tories in power serves the SNPs goals. My point is, Scotland has done fuckall to get rid of the Tories. by rossdrew (Fri 21st Oct 2022 4:56pm)

  • Protest isn’t black and white. It’s not “if it’s peaceful, it’s fine”. If I stand with a sign saying “kill blacks” for example, I’m going to jail, quite rightly. Because it’s inciting violence. If I glue myself to a tank it’s borderline, if I glue myself across someone’s door I’m infringing their freedom…peacefully. In this case we have another example, they’re infringing on the freedom of others by making a tough, emotional decision harder and victimising & isolating vulnerable individuals. by rossdrew (Wed 28th Dec 2022 5:26pm)

It’s not immoral to end life, it’s immoral to end thinking, feeling; sentient life. No doctors think sentience begins at inception. YOU do not care about life. YOU care about winning an argument, pathetically grasping the emotional high ground you don’t understand via choosing emotional sounding words like “life”. It worries ME how much people will warp their argument so that it doesn’t even fit their beliefs, just to win it. by rossdrew (Thu 29th Dec 2022 9:10pm)
  • I’m not guessing what you’re thinking, I’m directly using your logical argument. I don’t need to defend my position. You haven’t attacked it in any logically solid way, just with this word “life”. Now unless you go around protecting viruses & bacteria, avoiding stepping on grass and being careful not to disturb flowers, you don’t have any moral objection to the termination of “life”. Can you provide a good distinction of which life you are asserting is morally sacred? Otherwise your position of “life is sacred” is indefensible unless you are stating you conform to the utterly impossible standard mentioned above. If you refine your definition to “human life”, then you might be able to self reason that’s enough. But it’s not. Are “human cells” the same as “human life”? Most people, including science and most of philosophy agree that until there is sentience, there’s no morality. In which case science is in very clear agreement of when sentience is reached. by rossdrew (Fri 30th Dec 2022 7:19am)

  • There’s no fundamental biological difference between a clump of cells and a foetus? It’s “just growing”? I think perhaps go back and revise your knowledge of biology since literally everything is changing day by day, almost no part of it is “just growing”. You honestly think a sperm hits an egg and there’s a fully formed human in miniature? Stupidest shit I ever heard. At this point it’s clear you just like generics words and concepts like “life” and have no grasp of reality. Feel free to go stand in the line with these reprobates. by rossdrew (Sun 1st Jan 2023 10:37pm)
  • >The only difference between a fetus and a baby is time. There is no fundamental biological change occurring, it is simply growing. Not at all putting words in your mouth. These are your exact words. "*no fundamental biological change occurring*", so creating bones, heart, brain from nothing are not "*fundamental biological change\[s\]*". >You are really not offering up any credible argument Do you believe that you are? Just because you are not capable of understanding a point, doesn't mean it isn't there. You are making no argument. Just an absolutely ignorant-of-all-facts, hand-wavey statement with utterly no backing in reason, logic or science and when my response is that what you are saying is not correct by the standard of ANY medical professional or body you respond by saying my '*argument isn't credible'.* This isn't my argument, this is the modern understanding of biology which you are failing to grasp. >Do you recall when most people didn't believe in man made climate change What's this?!? You have no point so you create some random straw man to try win? It's almost as if you know you're wrong. >I think this too will eventually be seen as ***an inconvenient truth.*** As you continue to push this straw man out to try distract us from the fact you are floundering. It's almost as if you watched an [Al Gore video](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Inconvenient_Truth) and took his points on without any thought of your own because you like to pick points which aren't mainstream to make your views interesting. They're not. You sound stupid. by rossdrew (Mon 2nd Jan 2023 10:19pm)

  • In English please? by rossdrew (Wed 8th Mar 2023 7:32pm)
  • Sure. First of all Scotland doesn't "*\[make\] enough green energy for our entire country from wind alone*". Sometimes (and not frequently) wind peaks and generates more than 100%. It's by no means a reliable source of anything like 100%. We have the predicted capacity to serve up about 75% of our renewable needs, currently. Now, "*We’re just not allowed to keep it.*". I'm not sure who you think isn't letting you keep it but Scotland "*keeps*" about all it can manage, which is between 30-60% of our consumed power being generated from renewables. Depending on sun, wind and rain. That which is lost to Scotland is lost because Scotland hasn't invested in the infrastructure to use it yet, so the excess that we cannot store or use is shipped and sold elsewhere. It's worth noting that we don't switch the sun, wind or rain on and off in Scotland and that means when we under-generate, we need to compensate or draw from stores and when we over-generate, we need to store till we have a generation deficit. Now there are [figures out there](https://www.scottishrenewables.com/our-industry/statistics) which will tell you we "*generated 80, 90, 100+% of our energy usage this year*". But these are figures with an agenda. What they don't tell you is that we could barely use 30-50% of it because we don't have the capacity to store and it needs to be shipped off because you don't just bin energy, it's energy, it needs to go somewhere. So in summary, most years we don't make enough "green energy" to power the whole of Scotland and if we did, we are physically incapable of utilising it because of infrastructural concerns. Lastly, nobody is taking it from us. Put your persecution complex down for a second and try think independently. by rossdrew (Wed 8th Mar 2023 9:59pm)

  • People in the UK are experiencing harder lives, not hardship. Hardship was Glasgow in the 70s and 80s where socialism was not a driving factor and community thrived. Hardship is the WW2 bombings of London and Clydebank. Where socialism had zero to do with the strong community but hardship did. Like it always does when communities experience hardship together. • You can make many argument at where life begins but it’s certainly not birth. Otherwise premature babies would be born dead. The debate is generally whether human cells undergoing mitosis are life or if something with , human features is life, possession of a brain is life or perhaps the development of a soul (if you believe in such things) or intelligence. Not sure I’ve ever heard someone suggest that life is something which has been through a birth canal or cut from a womb. Surely there’s no argument against it being life before that or we would be able to abort up until labour starts. by rossdrew (Fri 21st Apr 2023 9:44pm)

Is it limited to people with mismatched sex and gender? For example, murders and robberies affect men at 70-80%, is that gender based or does there need to be gender discriminating intent or is it only if those men were -say- born female. • Clearly you've missed the point entirely. You've selected a viewpoint, then created point to support it. Rather than looking for a valid viewpoint based on data. Legalisation isn't supposed to solve a problem entirely in itself, it's intended to bring a problem out of the shadows so that it can be tackled in the way that a civilised society tackles problems. There's multiple problems with illegality of goods and services: **Firstly**, you cannot and will not stop people using goods and services that they wish too, and morally you have no right to decide what people do with and to their own bodies. **Next**, illegal goods and services are run and provide profits by unregulated parties, as well as encourage unregulated and often violent competition. Legalising goods or services mean that the government can regulate by setting quality standards, safety and price then add tax which can be used to fund social services and NHS which deal with the fallout of these problems. In addition, competition is public, regulated and non-violent. **Also**, people who provide and use illegal goods and services become criminals and as such, society shuns them, treats them as lesser humans and it's hard to get them support and potential rehabilitation. **Lastly**, making things illegal means you need to enforce the law. This costs money in policing, courts and prisons and provides very little, in a non deterministic way via confiscation of resources. That's policing time not being spent on actual crimes that affect others. So if goods or services are illegal, it's clear that it encourages more serious crimes, funds organised crime, takes from the social service pot without adding anything, ensures the goods and services are more dangerous and their prices are used to exploit addicts and leaves them with little public support. Takes from the justice pot and deprives other, more dangerous areas of enforcement. I'm not sure what the counter argument is. Other than blind moralistic preachy, pish. If you don't believe all of the above you should probably look to: 1. the effect of prohibition on the U.S. in terms of health, policing and crime. That's even though they had no nationally funded health service. 2. who the #1 target of violent and murder in any country where prostitution is illegal, compared with countries where prostitution is legal. Spoiler alert: it's sex workers in the former and they barely appear in the latter 3. The effect of decriminalisation of drugs in Portugal. 4. the fact that no country has ever reduced the uptake of any good or service by making it illegal by rossdrew (Mon 14th Aug 2023 10:00am)

  • Buckfast grants a random buff or debuff. Best Kebab is not what it appears. Need somewhere to launder your cash? Try sunbeds, barbers or American Candy. Fancy a challenge? Raise difficulty by bringing up football or religion. This has greater effect on the east map. Heading West? Make sure you have plenty of cash. Hold breath for length of travel through Clyde Tunnel for random buff. Having trouble making friends? Try a Limmy quote. by rossdrew (Sat 9th Sep 2023 8:50pm)

  • There’s about 3 things on there not common on a Japanese menu. Then about 10 (mainly rolls) that wouldn’t be popular but would be common. Authentic doesn’t mean exactly Japanese, no more no less. It means of Japanese quality. by rossdrew (Sun 17th Sep 2023 10:45am)

  • People do still use “hen” a lot. “Y’awright hen?”, “aww hen”, “here hen” are just daily uses. Not offensive. Just a bit dated. by rossdrew (Sat 28th Oct 2023 5:10pm)
