  • An ear ache can be a big deal. If you have an infection and remains untreated you will end up with meningitis or septicemia. So please don't feel bad for seeking medical advice. Call your GP as they should still provide advice through phone. Hope it all works out okay for you. by solitarywitch666 (Fri 24th Apr 2020 9:25pm)
  • There's also people who change their mind about having children. Or have them but end up giving them for adoption (best case scenario if it's to a loving family) or "raising" them in a toxic environment. I don't see anyone questioning people's choice to have children, but there's always someone questioning others about their choice not to have them. Children are even more permanent than a vasectomy. And if you do "change your mind", there's a thing called adoption you know, because the world is full of children with no family, love and opportunity. I mean that's the reason for having a child right? To offer them love, opportunities, safe environment etc.. by solitarywitch666 (Sat 4th Jul 2020 9:56pm)
  • Yes. It's the same attitude people have when they want to have a baby or adopt a newborn baby you know. You want the experience of them growing up, learning and having an amazing life in your family. by solitarywitch666 (Sun 5th Jul 2020 2:01pm)
  • I thought of that as a reason, yes. But why is that not the same for south of the Scottish Border? Surely we've been affected the same, if not they've been affected worse. Thanks for your words. I've been waiting for the right pet since my last cat died 4 years ago. by solitarywitch666 (Sun 5th Jul 2020 2:09pm)
  • Don't mind the breed. Could be anything (except the hairless ones, they creep me out). The last cat I had was from an aunt who knew a lady whos cat had kittens, but that was 18 years ago. by solitarywitch666 (Sun 5th Jul 2020 2:48pm)
  • I know. That's why it's a tad infuriating how ballsy they are to ask for so much money! They're completely taking advantage of poor animals and the silly desperate people that pay thousands for a cockalabradoodledoo. I'm constantly looking at the adoption sites, contacted them, as I said in the main post, Im not against it. It's preferred in most cases, but I really don't want an older cat. I barely got over the death of my last one, can't get a knew one knowing that I'll just lose it again a lot sooner than normal. by solitarywitch666 (Sun 5th Jul 2020 3:09pm)
  • Aww well it's good you got so much time with her. Thank you. I've not come across this one yet. I'll contact them and see what they say. by solitarywitch666 (Sun 5th Jul 2020 3:27pm)
  • And what are the they going to do once they go back to work? Fill up adoption centers? Hoping they keep the pets and manage to care for them. by solitarywitch666 (Sun 5th Jul 2020 7:45pm)
  • Solution is easy. We should all get together in schools ( since the virus doesn't enter the building) and have Christmas in there. You can also take your masks off at any time, because all that's gonna happen is that one adult will tell you to put it back on and if you refuse, there's nothing we can do about it. Also, you can sneeze and cough on other people, and completely ignore the 2 meter social distancing rule. Schools are great! Unfortunately, I'm not making this up. It's been the experience my colleagues and I had since schools went back in August. In theory, we have the rules, in practice, it's hard to get teenagers to follow the rules (and even worse, some members of staff fall in this category too). And since they are just that, teenagers there is no consequence for their actions either. by solitarywitch666 (Sat 19th Dec 2020 7:05pm)
  • Not for everyone. And what does that have to do with the lack of preparition and consistency in ensuring a safe environment for pupils and staff ? by solitarywitch666 (Sat 19th Dec 2020 7:43pm)
  • To be honest, I don't understand why teachers have to be in from the 5th. What is it that I have to do in a classroom that I can't do from the safety of my own home? Also, teachers have been working hard on creating lessons for blended learning since August (WOS). They are available for all pupils in West of Scotland online through Glow. by solitarywitch666 (Sat 19th Dec 2020 10:42pm)
  • We already get shittones of hate from some people;others consider us just some overpaid babysitters.. I think striking will do more damage than good. I don't know what the solution is to be honest, but I'd like if everyone were to be consistent and treated fairly. I love my job, I hate lockdowns like everyone else, but I also hate being coughed on by smirking 16 year olds that can't seem to see the tape I have on my floor and the signs saying to keep their distance and ssnitize their work area and hands. by solitarywitch666 (Sat 19th Dec 2020 10:53pm)
  • Most likely. Haha by solitarywitch666 (Sun 20th Dec 2020 11:12am)
  • I feel like tipping is such an American thing and makes me feel incredibly guilty when I don't have anything to tip the food driver with. But then I just have to ask myself, do I tip my mailman for bringing me mail? Do I tip my Amazon driver? Aren't people getting paid for these jobs already? Why do I have to pay extra? Even in restaurants, I don't get it. If any the people that should get a tip are the cooks as they cooked my food, the waiter just brought it over, took the plates and printed the bill for me. And at the end of the day, the waiter might make even more than the cook does. Thing is, where does it stop? Should we just start tipping everyone? Should we tip our cashier for being nice to us? Our dentist? Slip a couple to our GP? Should I get tips from all the pupils I teach for how good of a lesson I delivered every day? For making it extra fun? No...cuz that's my job. I already get paid for that. Unfortunately there are places in the world where slipping money to your nurse and surgeon and anesthesiologist before undergoing a procedure is common practice as it guarantees you waking up afterwords. Or buying your degree from your lecturer. I don't want to live in a place like that, and I'm hoping Scotland will never become a place like that. Employers should pay enough for you to be able to live and not become homeless if you don't get a tip. If that's not the case, you should look for another job. by solitarywitch666 (Thu 18th Mar 2021 9:37pm)
  • I think there's a fine line between the two. Both are gifts intended to strengthen social bonds. I've heard numerous times people saying they're going to spit in food if they don't get tipped or something similar, therefore forcing the consumer to tip as in fear of having their food tampered with in the future. Nevertheless, I think the burden of a decent wage should be down to the employer and not the consumer. by solitarywitch666 (Thu 18th Mar 2021 11:26pm)
