  • I moved here for uni and attempted to use the bus on two occasions, they never showed up. I cycle everywhere, it's amazing. by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 4th Oct 2021 11:30pm)
  • Where I'm at theres only one green bin (the large type) for the whole building of 4 floors x 12 flats... it's been full since last wednesday. by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 22nd Nov 2021 4:28pm)
  • I and another lady were nearly run over the other day by a guy who got tired of waiting at a red light so went into incoming traffic and floored it right in front of us. There was a police vehicle in the middle of the intersection, I pointed it out, she (the cop) didn't do shit, didn't even radio it in (I remained watching her for a minute) she just kept looking forward. What in trying to say is police are useless. by throwawayyy55576 (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 11:27pm)
  • I moved to Glasgow in 2019 and tried to use the buses on two occasions. First time from a random station and the bus never showed, had to walk. Second time from Buchanan bus station and while it did leave the station I was watching people in the sidewalk going faster than me. Since then I've only cycled in Glasgow. On really rainy days I drive to just outside town center and walk. It's ridiculous that this is allowed to carry on. What about people with disabilities and elderly who can't afford Uber or can't cycle? by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 6th Dec 2021 5:41pm)
  • DELETED Thanks. I didn't see that much detail about the stores on the mobile version of the site. In fact I just searched Glasgow again and they all just say "Click & Collect | Pay online collect in store". In the end the second one I went to was real (also made sure to check the street view) by throwawayyy55576 (Sun 24th Apr 2022 6:34pm)
  • DELETED Are you into board games at all? I'm in the same spot as you (age and moved here etc etc) and found this friendly group of people around my age meeting for board games every week. We try to socialize although sometimes we realize we focused too much on the game. search "Glasgow Board Games" on facebook or PM me if you dont have facebook. by throwawayyy55576 (Thu 2nd Jun 2022 9:54pm)
  • Omg I'd love to play around with photography without the huge price. I might do that today. by throwawayyy55576 (Sat 4th Jun 2022 7:05am)
  • I usually live in East Kent but have been in Glasgow for uni. In January I was stuck on crutches and had to go several times to hospital. I took Uber at first because I could barely move but then I started taking the bus... only for the bus to not show up, second time it broke. If you miss one appointment because the buses are shit you have to make another that can take another month or more - it's unacceptable. Even if everything was alright the buses from my place to the hospital didn't connect and I had to walk two streets on crutches, uphill on the way back, to change lines. That was horrible, took me half an hour just to get to the right station, then wait standing up for a bunch longer. Add to that this thing where you have several companies that don't accept each other's day ticket, I got kicked off one bus because of this. Needless to say I hope to never have to use Glasgow buses ever again. Before and after injury I just cycled everywhere, because 3 years ago when looking for a place here, I waited for a bus once that never showed, and then just walked everywhere ( I didn't have my bike then). by throwawayyy55576 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 10:21pm)
  • >God help anyone that's no a local. Sorry but have you heard of Google Maps? Heck even the First bus app was decent at planning trips (if busses actually show) by throwawayyy55576 (Sat 25th Jun 2022 7:09pm)
  • Wait, this is a thing? There have the same number for different lines because it's a different company? Hilarious. I'm a student in Glasgow and had to use buses in January (accident - couldn't cycle) and thought that Google Maps worked ok for my needs. But I never realized this. by throwawayyy55576 (Sat 25th Jun 2022 7:49pm)
  • I've been in uni for 3 years now in Glasgow. Nobody in my class is anywhere near any of that stuff. by throwawayyy55576 (Thu 7th Jul 2022 5:49am)
  • Same here. Maybe because I'm in engineering uni with lots of overseas students? Then again I only hang out with the good ones who are passing with flying colours and I'm always left wondering what the others are doing so wrong that they're failing all the time. Now I'm thinking some of them must be taking coke. by throwawayyy55576 (Thu 7th Jul 2022 6:32am)
  • I grew up in a warm climate growing our own stuff at home. In 2019i went to Italy with my sister and both of us were say down eating fruits and crying because they were so good/nostalgia. It must have been quite a sight. by throwawayyy55576 (Wed 20th Jul 2022 12:19pm)
  • Thanks, I emailed them. I'll see what they can do. by throwawayyy55576 (Tue 30th Aug 2022 5:49pm)
  • I am now mentioning this in the opening messages, thanks. Last year I offered 6 months in advance for a flat and still didn't get it X( by throwawayyy55576 (Tue 30th Aug 2022 5:50pm)
  • Hahahaha you fool. I had the same thought but would never say it out loud. Also ban alcohol while we're at it. by throwawayyy55576 (Sun 6th Nov 2022 6:39am)
  • It's moments like these I'm happy my old dog passed away last year. He used to be so scared. by throwawayyy55576 (Sun 6th Nov 2022 6:44am)
  • Yea last night I was thinking (been doing too much of that) how there's parents doing fireworks for kids, which is ok. Then there's young teens who still like fireworks, which is still ok I guess. But then there's single men 20+ who still enjoy them and I personally don't understand. by throwawayyy55576 (Sun 6th Nov 2022 6:42am)
  • You guys sit out in this weather? A depressed outsider by throwawayyy55576 (Sun 6th Nov 2022 7:14pm)
  • I have noticed that people who grew up here don't mind it so much. I grew up in a dry and sunny place so the weather here is really depressing. Oh well. by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 7th Nov 2022 8:49am)
  • By the time I get there it rains again. by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 7th Nov 2022 8:45am)
  • True. I've started several indoor hobbies since moving here for uni. I used to just be outdoors before running, cycling. Now it's mostly bouldering, gym and board games. I just really hate the wet. I'm programmed growing up if rain then indoors. by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 7th Nov 2022 12:49pm)
  • It really is the one and only reason I will not settle here. I love the people and lots of opportunities for work and fun in Glasgow but oh the rain. I've been in South East England for a decade before and it was manageable. This is too much. by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 7th Nov 2022 12:51pm)
  • >I find that you can go faster as there is less rolling resistance. LOL, that sounds true. I cycled in year 1 through the winter and ended up hating it. I don't really have good winter cycling shoes so I'd come home with wet and frozen feet. In England I could get by without winter gear, just about. by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 7th Nov 2022 1:34pm)
  • >It's good to get yourself into an uncomfortable situation and overcome it. This perfectly describes my life since quitting work to go to uni full time, lol. Cycling was a way to relax not add more stress. But I know what you mean. In any case, I froze my uni to go work in Switzerland for a year so I won't be complaining any more. I specifically went there for the cycling opportunities, lol. by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 7th Nov 2022 1:47pm)
  • After I started cycling again after a knee injury, I re-injured it due to a pothole and ended up back in hospital. Doctor said I should avoid potholes, I asked him to which city to move... we both had a laugh but it's ridiculous. by throwawayyy55576 (Thu 29th Dec 2022 10:04pm)
  • > Integrated transport (bus, train, subway). One ticket/card, multiple trips, any distance, max charge...oh...£5. It works well in other areas (e.g. Nottingham), so why not Glasgow? OMG this. I never used buses until early this year (been here since 2019 for uni). I only started using them because I was on crutches due to an injury. The public transport is horrible! I come from Kent where it's all one company and you can buy day passes, but then later in the year I went to my home country: romania, where I don't go very often, and my home town has public transport 10 times better than Glasgow (but only about 300k population) one company, GPS, real-time time of arrival using GPS, buy one ticket to last 45 minutes (for £0.50). It still had issues like broken ticket machines. Still, good buses are not enough to keep me there. What's with the bus stops that only certain buses stop in? I had to walk on crutches uphill (really hard to do - had to take a break every 2 minutes and I'm quite fit) in town centre to change buses going to the hospital for treatment. I spent over £100 on Uber in January after trying the buses in Glasgow. (I had also never used Uber before - only cycling) by throwawayyy55576 (Thu 29th Dec 2022 10:00pm)
  • Might not find in West end but a friend just found a 2 bedroom unfurnished for under£600 near sighthill cemetery. So they're out there. He offered to pay 3 months in advance to lock it down by throwawayyy55576 (Sat 31st Dec 2022 2:36pm)
  • If it's not reinforced people don't follow rules. Police force is under staffed and also doesn't really care (probably overworked?). by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 1st May 2023 7:31am)
  • We need a new law that damaging cars parked like this cannot be considered property damage in court by throwawayyy55576 (Mon 1st May 2023 7:30am)
