  • Love the light captured on the dome! Some stunning buildings in town that many people don't take notice of. by GingaWinga (Thu 26th Sep 2019 1:53pm)
  • I don't get the bus often, but this leaves from right next to my house, a good option for getting into town when heading to the pub. Hope the continue the current service. by GingaWinga (Fri 27th Sep 2019 12:09pm)
  • I'd be happy if they could get the basics right first - clean the bloody streets, clamp down on littering and fix the roads and pavements, they are in a shocking state. by GingaWinga (Tue 1st Oct 2019 2:07pm)
  • Few decent places in Merchant Square plus its enclosed so good for escaping this horrendous weather. by GingaWinga (Wed 9th Oct 2019 12:51pm)
  • Cut backs at Tesco, they are closing a lot of their counters or limiting the hours which they are operating. by GingaWinga (Thu 10th Oct 2019 12:47pm)
  • Awesome pic! I really should get round to doing the tour, shamefully I've never actually been. by GingaWinga (Thu 10th Oct 2019 12:45pm)
  • I was a member for a while last year, only sacked it due to moving house. Great gym to be honest, loads of space, all new equipment, staff seem decent. I only ever went to the yoga class which was busy but I don't recall having to pre-book. Obvious answer, yes it will be busy at peak times but its massive and loads of equipment. I'm sure they're opening another on the southside not far from Shawlands. by GingaWinga (Tue 15th Oct 2019 12:44pm)
  • Check the local Facebook community pages - you can search for recommendations posted by others, this type of thing gets asked frequently. by GingaWinga (Tue 15th Oct 2019 12:46pm)
  • Can't you ask your optician for a spare set? Boots have allowed me to do this quite a few times. by GingaWinga (Mon 28th Oct 2019 12:56pm)
  • I didn't start clubbing till the early 2000's, still go occasionally but getting too old for it. Back in the day I was certain I'd still be clubbing regularly well into my 30's/40's. How naive!! by GingaWinga (Thu 14th Nov 2019 1:12pm)
  • Agree with the places already mentioned. E-sushi on Byres Road is also amazingly good. by GingaWinga (Tue 3rd Dec 2019 12:57pm)
  • Not been to a Slam gig in a while - quite fancy going to Maximum Pressure on NYD though! by GingaWinga (Tue 3rd Dec 2019 3:05pm)
  • I noticed this morning that a new place named Ramen Ramen has opened on Bath Street where Rumours was based previously. Only 4 reviews on Google so far but all 5 stars........ judge for yourself. by GingaWinga (Tue 7th Jan 2020 1:11pm)
  • Great venue, it deserves to be back in business. From what I remember they were totally left in the lurch buy the supposed buyer and had no option but to close. by GingaWinga (Wed 5th Feb 2020 1:14pm)
  • Great view you have from the top floor there! by GingaWinga (Thu 27th Feb 2020 12:32pm)
  • The state of the roads are an absolute scandal, I feel there needs to be an inquiry into the whole situation. Pretty much every single road in the city has a pothole of some sort with some being much worse than others. The surfaces are uneven, every stank or drain has either sunk or has holes around it. Even if they resurface a whole stretch of road rather than plug the holes, it doesn't last. Really think they need to come up with different methods or use of materials. The councils are never going to be able to fix all of the roads, it's just not going to happen - really pisses me right off! Nothing ever gets done right! by GingaWinga (Mon 2nd Mar 2020 1:00pm)
  • There are some nice parts of Cumbernauld but yes Abronhill is pretty rough. You don’t mention which school you’ll be attending? Ideally you don’t want too much of a commute and Cumbernauld is a good distance from glasgow albeit with good bus and train links. by GingaWinga (Sat 7th Mar 2020 9:50pm)
  • They filmed the first part of the ad next to my office on Blythswood Street, it was on TV within a few weeks after that. Getting pretty annoying now as its on just about every single ad break. by GingaWinga (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 12:58pm)
  • Ah ok I went there one day must’ve been after 4, cheers. by GingaWinga (Tue 28th Apr 2020 3:30pm)

  • They are clearly at the wind up. 😒 by GingaWinga (Sun 21st Mar 2021 8:27pm)
  • There are a couple of Facebook groups that offer up various bits of advice and there is a Reddit group too. Think you just need to try out different things to see what works for you. I’ve found shampoo with tea tree oil helps me a bit. I tend to get it worse when I’m stressed out, which is a a lot lately. I also have a messed up gut (IBS) which is apparently the root cause and I’m trying to fix that but it’s not easy. by GingaWinga (Thu 29th Apr 2021 10:41pm)
  • Yeah it can be really tough to deal with. NHS dermatology haven’t been much use, they gave me topical steroids to use but I read many horror stories about withdrawals from them I decided to stop using them. They also tell you it’s not diet related which is questionable. Try focusing on a clean diet and techniques to manage stress. I need to do the same but it’s easier said than done. by GingaWinga (Fri 30th Apr 2021 8:23am)
  • Your employer may offer a season ticket loan so that you can purchase an annual ticket for the train. The cost is deducted from your monthly wage and is tax efficient. by GingaWinga (Wed 26th May 2021 8:18am)
  • Crowhill area is decent enough, Kenmure and surrounding is pretty nice and safe, don’t see why you’d have anything to worry about. The area has its usual bike thefts etc but nothing mental. I disagree that new estates in Robroyston are ‘soul less’, they are practical for many people. Good links to the motorway and amenities such as Strathkelvin and Robroyston retail parks very close by. by GingaWinga (Sat 12th Jun 2021 7:06pm)
  • I dont know much about the difference in pricing or the accommodation themselves but Blackfriars, Collegelands and Hannah House are all very close to one another. Blackfriars in right next to the High Street which is busy and has shops such as Aldi nearby and a short walk into the centre. Collegelands is close by but a bit further east and may be slightly more modern than Blackfriars. Havannah House is further down the street and is on a quiet street behind Duke Street and is the most recently built. There is a Spar shop on Havannah Street and there is a Morrisons supermarket a bit further east. Many of the students also order online and get groceries delivered to them. by GingaWinga (Mon 14th Jun 2021 4:04pm)
  • I'd say the end of October is a magical time as the leaves turn amazing colours before they fall. Head to Kelvingrove park for a nice walk around the west end area to explore and witness the autumnal shades. After that the daylight hours will get much shorter and will be dark from around 5pm which can affect come peoples mood etc. by GingaWinga (Tue 15th Jun 2021 10:43am)
  • That’s sad news, hopefully it reopens under new management or other means. by GingaWinga (Tue 20th Jul 2021 4:30pm)

  • Nice one thanks for that. by GingaWinga (Sat 31st Jul 2021 11:15pm)
  • I was all set to go ahead with Optical Express then they cancelled on me last minute saying surgeon wasn’t available. It totally put me off. Also even if they correct your vision, as you get older reading glasses will still likely be required. I don’t think I’m going to bother getting it done. by GingaWinga (Mon 2nd Aug 2021 10:20pm)
  • Maryhill is pretty big, has its good bits and bad bits. I really like the area around Maryhill Park, some nice bits round there. by GingaWinga (Fri 27th Aug 2021 8:11pm)

  • Do you have home emergency cover with your home insurance provider? Defo worth checking as they can usually get an engineer out quickly. by GingaWinga (Tue 7th Dec 2021 8:34pm)
  • I am using the Road Traffic Lawyer on the High Street for my case which hasn't been heard yet. My home insurance policy is paying the legal fees so if you have insurance, it is worth checking if they cover legal fees and save you a fortune. by GingaWinga (Thu 9th Dec 2021 4:55pm)
  • Dr Tyre came to my house and replaced the tyre pretty quickly. by GingaWinga (Sat 11th Dec 2021 10:17pm)

  • 24hr gyms, drive thru’s and supermarkets. by GingaWinga (Sun 9th Jan 2022 10:16pm)
  • Lenzie Way I would personally avoid it. Find another flat in a nicer area would be my advice. by GingaWinga (Mon 10th Jan 2022 10:13pm)
  • Too many wind up merchants jumping into peoples posts nowadays. It used to be a very helpful and community spirited page, well it still is for the most part. People use it to donate items that are no longer of use to them, which is one of the nice things about BCP. by GingaWinga (Fri 14th Jan 2022 10:00pm)
  • I use Cat in a Flat, twice now and they’ve been brill. by GingaWinga (Sat 29th Jan 2022 9:44am)

  • It’s a good point. Compared to London tube, ours is very shallow. by GingaWinga (Tue 1st Mar 2022 2:49pm)
  • You can enter a complaint regarding the unacceptable service you have received. They normally acknowledge the complaint fairly quickly. Might be an option towards getting the issue resolved. by GingaWinga (Fri 4th Mar 2022 10:51am)
  • Buyers remorse is a real thing and due to the current difficult conditions, it can be a stressful and anxious time. It sounds as though you bought something just to get it after being disapointed with previous offers. I would say don't worry about negative equity too much especially if you plan to be there a long time and add value to the place. You havent mentioned which area it is but I guess its a good one so chances are when you come to sell the property will be worth more than you paid for it. by GingaWinga (Fri 15th Apr 2022 6:23pm)
  • I wanna know what happened to all the sewing machines. by GingaWinga (Tue 19th Apr 2022 8:05am)
  • I was thinking the exact same thing when I landed back from holiday the other day. It’s the arrivals bit that is the worst and is really embarrassing. The fucked up weird carpets are hideous. The signage and advertising on the walls, the dodgy doors and ancient luggage carousel badly need to be replaced. Then the arrivals waiting area with barely any seats never mind a comfy area to wait for family and friends getting off a flight. Also the pick up and drop off fee appears to have doubled. They must be raking it in. Place is a shambles. Really not up to par when you compare it to other airports in Europe. by GingaWinga (Thu 16th Jun 2022 8:22pm)
  • Wonder how much she’s getting paid for these ads. Billboards are everywhere too. by GingaWinga (Mon 20th Jun 2022 10:04pm)
  • Prebooked on the Network Taxi app two separate times for 4am pick up and both came no bother. by GingaWinga (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 12:02pm)
  • Years ago on the 45 bus heading home from town and 2 junkies sitting a couple of seats behind. They start having a conversation and catching up….”how you daen mate, where you stayin these days” says one of them. The reply “am staying up in Sighthill mate, you know where I mean….just past the smelly bit”. Found it highly amusing that the rotten eggs foul smell from the old chemical works was used as a junkie landmark for directions. by GingaWinga (Wed 20th Jul 2022 10:24pm)
  • Due to your masters degree, employers in the retail sector will assume you want to work with them as a stop gap until you find work in your field of study. Coupled with only having 6 months relevant experience in retail, which is unlikely to be enough. by GingaWinga (Sun 7th Aug 2022 8:32pm)
  • Loks Bar and Kitchen is nice, lovely grub. 🤓 by GingaWinga (Sun 14th Aug 2022 9:39pm)
  • Really, seems like the speed limit doesnt apply anymore as most folk are doing 70 in a 50 and 90+ in a 70 these days. by GingaWinga (Sun 21st Aug 2022 6:00pm)
  • Middle lane drivers are the worst - not once have I ever seen one being pulled over. If they are going to drive at 40 at least do it in the left lane. by GingaWinga (Sun 21st Aug 2022 6:06pm)
  • Be prepared to be hounded with letters. After about 5 they give up. by GingaWinga (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 7:53am)

  • There is a FB Group "Potholes Make Glasgow" and I am sure there is discussion on there about this pothole with several vehicles damaged. The group are arranging a protest at the end of January about the state of the roads. Worth giving support to the group - there are so many pissed off citizens and hopefully something can be done. by GingaWinga (Tue 10th Jan 2023 12:38pm)
  • Glasgow is quite a large city with leisure facilities both council run and private dotted around the city. Which area in the city would you be looking at? by GingaWinga (Sat 14th Jan 2023 11:16am)

  • Put a post on My Builder or Rated People and trades people will get back to you and provide quotes for the work. I’ve used them several times now for this type of thing. You can also search the local FB groups for recommendations. by GingaWinga (Sat 18th Mar 2023 3:54pm)
  • I’m a delivery driver and it’s just getting utterly ridiculous now. I honestly despair as I just don’t see how things are ever going to get better. Every single road is crumbling all over the city and beyond. There are temporary traffic lights all over the place sometimes 3 different sets on the same road. Why are the roads crumbling so badly? What kind of materials do they use and why are none of the politicians talking about it never mind actually doing anything about it? by GingaWinga (Sun 19th Mar 2023 8:18pm)
  • The council already takes in millions each year from bus lane fines alone. That money certainly doesn’t go towards sorting the roads so I doubt LEZ fines will tbh. by GingaWinga (Sun 19th Mar 2023 8:58pm)
  • I received an email from a company called Pogust Goodhead who contacted me about a potential legal claim in regards to the data breach from Arnold Clark. I have registered my interest with them so just waiting to hear what happens next, if anything. by GingaWinga (Wed 22nd Mar 2023 3:48pm)
  • Went in there for lunch during work one day for a 1 hours express lunch..........big mistake. Went back to the office stuffed to the gills and it took 3 days to fully digest and be able to move again. by GingaWinga (Fri 24th Mar 2023 1:26pm)
  • I recommend not to buy from Tapi, the quality of their carpets are really not good. by GingaWinga (Mon 27th Mar 2023 5:13pm)
  • I got my undergraduate degree there in Business in 2005. The Risk Management course is particularly well considered along with some of the clinical studies such as nursing and radiography. I think in general the uni is seen as modern, practical and well run with decent facilities. by GingaWinga (Fri 31st Mar 2023 7:14am)

  • Not the best area in general - Lenzie Street might not be that bad. I’d say Lenzie Terrace would be worse and to be avoided. by GingaWinga (Sun 3rd Sep 2023 10:23am)
  • Some streets are worse than others, it’s worth taking a drive around the area you’re thinking of. It’s clear which bits are the worst. The houses are cheap for a reason. by GingaWinga (Sun 3rd Sep 2023 10:20am)
