  • It’s so goddamn dangerous to cycle on the roads in Glasgow. Driver expect you to stick to the side of the road (even though you’re not legally required) but the side of the road happens to be home to all the potholes! If I’m cycling along the side of the lane and a massive pothole is coming up in my path (which it always is) I have to move out to centre lane, where usually an impatient driver is ready to either pass me by so close it gives me a shave OR knock me over and kill me. Yes Glasgow roads a disgrace for potholes, you’d expect more from our country let’s be honest. by GodFearingCylist (Tue 22nd Feb 2022 2:59pm)
  • Yes. I feel the same, don’t know if I want to vomit or cry. It’s really messed me up. by GodFearingCylist (Mon 28th Feb 2022 1:34pm)
  • Your right you’re not being funny. You don’t think that’s part of it? I’ve lived with Ukrainians in Scotland and I’ve visited Ukraine for about 3 weeks in 2019. A brewery I visited in Lviv came up on my timeline yesterday because they’ve now switched from making beer to Molotov cocktails. Knowing all the males I’ve met and the family of my Ukrainian friends aren’t allowed out, it’s heart wrenching, absolutely gut busting. by GodFearingCylist (Mon 28th Feb 2022 4:02pm)

  • Graffiti is a lot about what you can put up quickly before someone comes along and catches you, thats what this is and it’s called a “throw up,”. It’s also common for graffiti artists to come up with a sort of trade mark illustration or cartoon character either by itself or involving the letter of their graffiti name. These illustrations/cartoons are called the graffiti artists “character,” so you’re looking at this particular artists “throw up character,” You can see more similar examples [here.](https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=graffiti+throw+up+character&client=safari&hl=en-gb&prmd=isvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjlkcrXmKf2AhUSesAKHSQXBkwQ_AUoAXoECAIQAQ&biw=414&bih=715&dpr=2) “DBA,” likely references either the graffiti artists tag name, or, more likely I think, the particular “crew,” they tag for. by GodFearingCylist (Wed 2nd Mar 2022 10:16am)
  • The standard of pizza in Glasgow is outstanding tbh and that’s coming from someone who regularly visits extended Italian family in Italy. Maybe in the last 8 years or so I’ve only seen things improve. Way back you had to know where to go to find legit Italian pizza that was actually COOKED correctly. Now everyone’s catching on. Di Maggios are still terrible, undercooked garbage, but most other actual Italian places you’re in for a winner. Avoid Turkish/Iranian/Syrian/indian/Pakistani for pizza if you can, that’s the junk stuff. by GodFearingCylist (Sat 26th Mar 2022 6:39am)
  • I always imagine what happened when Immigrants first came to Scotland. Offered the locals all the heavenly delights of their cuisine and the Scots turned their noses up to it and demanded deep fried sausage and chips instead. 😂 by GodFearingCylist (Sat 26th Mar 2022 11:33am)

  • That’s exactly what to do and what I do to, just go in for the swoop and give a bit of awkward eye contact if you need to. They’ll move it, if not, that’s when you say “sorry do you mind if I?” which will seal the deal. • I know this area well, when cycling around Glasgow, Google maps is ADAMANT on cutting you through this wee section of houses and footpaths for some reason. Thanks for the heads up on the desire paths, I always follow Google’s route round the pavement but I’ll definitely be cutting through the grass next time. by GodFearingCylist (Wed 27th Apr 2022 11:51am)
  • I moved from a scummy wee town on the deep west coast to Edinburgh for a job in a big bank when I was like 20 and immediately encountered this problem, not only speaking to edinburgers but to English customers on the phone. It was rough but basically after like a year I became very adept at pronouncing stuff properly, knowing what consonants and vowels to pronounce so that people could understand me. Wish it wasn’t that way, although people call the way we speak “slang,” you can actually call it Scot’s (as most of it is Scot’s words) which is considered by linguists a language, but it’s just the way it is unfortunately. by GodFearingCylist (Wed 27th Apr 2022 2:10pm)

  • The highest point in Glasgow is “queen Mary’s seat,” in the Cathrin braes. They say it’s where Mary queen of Scot’s watched the battle of langside from. Great views. There’s a few places north of the city you get a great view looking south, like st Joseph’s view, but it’s kindof nestled in amongst housing estates with nowhere good to have a picnic for example. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 11:32am)
  • I cycle everyday and it happens MULTIPLE times every single day mate. Quite delicious when the light ahead turns red and you get to pull up beside them and give them jip, but ultimately the only thing we can do would be buy an expensive camera to record our commutes, get their regi plate and report every close pass to the police. They’re supposed to give a metre and a half when passing I believe, as per the Highway Code. Rarely happens tbh. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 3:16pm)
  • You should definitely get a camera then if you can afford it. I haven’t got one yet only cause it seems pointless as most of the battery life’s on them are way less than the time I’m out on the road. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 3:31pm)
  • Hahaha check all the carbrains mass downvoting the comments telling you to get a camera to protect yourself. Selfless plug for /r/fuckcars btw by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 3:43pm)

  • Go to the front as in the massive green painted section on the road made for cyclists with the giant fucking cycle symbol painted on it? Yeah, I go there mate 😂😂😂 by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 3:53pm)
  • Truth hurts pal? 😂 by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:09pm)
  • Not go to the legally designated part for cyclists and sit behind you because you’re too entitled to wait another 10 seconds to safely overtake? Get yer head right, mate. Why would we ignore physical infrastructure just for your convenience? by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:07pm)
  • It’s literally only for your convenience mate. The MASSIVE PAINTED GREEN SECTION CYCLING SYMBOLS in the road are there for our safety. Sitting behind you at traffic junctions so you can get to your McDonald’s drive thru 20 seconds earlier is not for our safety. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:14pm)
  • Nothing wrong with Glasgow or the cycling infrastructure mate. I’m guessing you don’t cycle a lot. Only thing that makes it unsafe is these bastard entitled drivers being discussed in this thread. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:10pm)
  • Yeah you just cycle around potholes mate. Why do you cycle a lot if you reckon the odd pothole is so impossible to deal with? by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:15pm)
  • Well they could use a bike you know… for probably 90% of their commutes, that’s the whole argument for cycling atm tbh. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:24pm)
  • It’s literally only for your convenience mate. The MASSIVE PAINTED GREEN SECTION CYCLING SYMBOLS in the road are there for our safety. You wanting to get away from cyclists quicker is not regarding safety mate. You are in a 2ton steel vehicle. I’m on a couple of lightweight aluminium sticks welded together. That’s why cycling infrastructure exists. Have fun getting that education bro. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:22pm)
  • I cycle 100-200 miles every single week including in the deepest darkest winters. I’m a cycling hobbyist as well as a bicycle courier. You don’t need to be going 5mph to avoid a pothole 😂😂😂😂😂 once again, I don’t think you cycle a lot, and once again, I think you’re talking out your arse. P.S it’s still spring, numpty. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:20pm)
  • Maybe because they NEVER CYCLE? 🫢 by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:30pm)
  • Old people cycle all the fuckin time. Cycling is great for joint issues, cycling combined with stretching can stop you getting surgery, there are cyclists out there with 0 ACL left but because cyclings so good at strengthening the joints they don’t need it. I’m sure pregnant people cycle all the time too. You’re talking about minority exceptions and disabled people right? Not 90% of cars commuting on the road right now when they could be cycling? by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 4:39pm)
  • Sorry truth hurts pal. Fact is probably 90% of cars in the road in Glasgow right now could be cycling. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 5:02pm)
  • What about e-assist cargo bikes having the capacity needed for probably the vast majority of tradesmen and delivery drivers needs? by GodFearingCylist (Fri 29th Apr 2022 6:09pm)

  • Half the reason the police don’t want to touch it is the racism issue, pretty sure there’s been many cases gone unreported due to that exact reason. Like wasn’t that in the news a while ago?n by GodFearingCylist (Fri 13th May 2022 12:28pm)
  • Aye the gaff itself seems a bit cramped, I’ve never actually been in only ever picked up from the wee window to take home or got it delivered. They’re on Uber eats. Aye they are actually heavy good, am a panini fiend and their paninis are top gear. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 13th May 2022 12:37pm)
  • Mate why do you think adultwork and viva street can operate a booming in business in Glasgow without any repercussions? God forbid you ever visit Edinburgh. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 13th May 2022 12:43pm)
  • You’ll probably find most of the women on viva street, adult work, and the other brothels, are infact trafficked, property of gangsters, and often underage, there is no need for proper age verification to work in these industry’s. Sorry to pop your happy wee bubble mate, welcome to the big bad world, police Scotland is corrupt as fuck and works in harmony with organised crime by the way, while we’re at it. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 13th May 2022 12:55pm)
  • Well the town I grew up in you still to this day can’t open a business on the high street without it going past a very big gangster in the town, it’s been that way since I was young, every one knows these gangsters, they have friends in the police, banks, shares in the local football club, they’ve murdered many people, petrol bombed rival business, opened up multiple money laundering fronts all without lawful justice, that’s not to mention their involvement in the drug flow into the town. I don’t imagine it’s just my town that has this issue, I hear of the similar families in Glasgow and Edinburgh and instantly know what’s up since it was the same in my small town. You can Google “police Scotland corruption,” and literally be there all day. I mean really, do it, have a fun day. “The Digger,” newspaper might be a bit of an eye opener for you aswell. by GodFearingCylist (Fri 13th May 2022 1:05pm)
  • You realise if it was the vast majority of viva street and 40% of adultwork then that would be most of the woman? by GodFearingCylist (Sat 14th May 2022 10:29am)
  • How is it they scam exactly? Do they take a card payment then give you fake address or do you turn up for a girl and it’s a couple of gnarly Romanian men with Rambo knives askin politely for yer cash or what ? by GodFearingCylist (Sat 14th May 2022 10:33am)
  • Fuck that man, ad be headin straight to Edinburgh if a needed to scratch that itch. Seems straight forward in Edinburgh, the brothels are pretty much out in the open and seem to operate like any other business, it just usually says “sauna,” or “massage,” on it. by GodFearingCylist (Sat 14th May 2022 10:44am)
  • Strip clubs is one thing, the “sauna,” industry is another. They are not incognito, they are all over Edinburgh with shop fronts and you see punters going in and out all day. They do have genuine saunas inside them but they are also functioning brothels. You’d think it was legal in Edinburgh, it’s mad. by GodFearingCylist (Sat 14th May 2022 10:52am)
  • Couldn’t tell you mate genuinely never been past the reception, went in with a pal to one of them one night we were wrecked, not enough money, tried to haggle something cheap and basically got told to fuck off 😅. A just lived and worked in Edinburgh for a couple years so local friends clued me up on the sauna situation, started noticing they were everywhere, even in the fancy new town, even slap bang on hunter square in the middle of the royal mile. The “saunas,” are the ones that everyone knows, but you see other sus stuff like shop front which say “massage,” but the logo for the business is like silhouette of a sexy burd on a pole, yer like “how is that a massage,”? 😂 by GodFearingCylist (Sat 14th May 2022 11:43am)

  • I’m a deliveroo bike courier; please trust me; there’s cunts out there makin delivery’s on a Tesco basket wae four 2p coins sellotaped to it. Deliveroo don’t check out ur bike, there’s hunks of shite and there’s also stolen bikes on the road makin deliveries. Also folks in cars sayin to deliveroo their on a bicycle so they get shorter jobs, more money and don’t have to pay insurance. Deliveroo, Uber earts and just eat really need to get their shit together with this stuff. Sorry to hear about your experience, makes me ragin tbh, dno what to suggest just wish I was near to get wide wae the cunt, so many scumbags out there. by GodFearingCylist (Tue 17th May 2022 9:29pm)
  • Aye that’s another one, they get someone legal to work here to make the account then have their not legal to work here pal do it. For the sake of genuine honest works on these platforms, which do exist in droves, you need to thumbs down/feed back/report every instance of this happening. If on Uber eats it shows you a bike but they turn up in a car, thumbs down and it’ll show you an option to click “wrong vehicle,” aswell as “didn’t match photo,” if that’s the case. Please report every one of these instances. It really fucks over the people honestly putting in the graft. by GodFearingCylist (Tue 17th May 2022 9:39pm)
  • Nah that’s not true, there’s a reason why it brings you up an automatic option for “doesn’t match picture,” everytime you thumbs down, also, Uber randomly makes us takes selfies of ourselves to get back onto the Uber driver app. by GodFearingCylist (Tue 17th May 2022 9:48pm)
  • Yes, still report, you could get away with splitting the work for independent takeaways but for Uber, just eat and deliveroo this is very seriously not allowed, and is usually involved with something more sinister, or scummy, and usually creating unfair circumstances for those already fairly in a job or those fairly waiting for a job. by GodFearingCylist (Wed 18th May 2022 6:50am)
  • Just report it everytime! I don’t know about rules for DPD but on Uber eats and the likes please report it and anything else suspicious. by GodFearingCylist (Wed 18th May 2022 11:25am)
  • When it’s food delivery companies, you report to them, as it’s not allowed, they have no policy’s for letting people work under someone else’s account. If you thumbs down it automatically brings up an option “does not match picture,” and also Uber specifically makes us take random selfies get back onto our account. If someone doesn’t match the picture on food delivery apps, or the vehicle for that matter, report immediately. by GodFearingCylist (Wed 18th May 2022 12:15pm)
  • Ok that’s news to me, weird because Uber ask you to report if the picture doesn’t match, https://help.uber.com/kn-IN/ubereats/article/delivery-person-didnt-match-the-picture?nodeId=562c52ab-f2b4-40b3-b86b-dca5828fe529 And also the regular random selfies we’re made to take. And the automatic option “didn’t match photo,” when you thumbs down. The main thing that pisses me off is people in cars saying they’re on a bike. by GodFearingCylist (Wed 18th May 2022 12:37pm)
  • Yeah they’re scamming it, in a car account you have to have certain insurance verified through Uber, so they just make bike accounts to avoid paying it, and there’s the added bonus for them of getting shorter journeys in a shorter space so they can get more money faster. Very not fair when they’re taking the jobs from people actually on a bike, and not fair on the people actually paying their insurance. by GodFearingCylist (Wed 18th May 2022 1:36pm)

  • Really? There’s loads of bike lanes now, and even without them the roads are pretty much fine to cycle on. Can get from Queen’s Park all the way to the city centre entirely on a bike lane now; pretty cool. They just keep on adding to it and building more aswell. Cycling is as safe as any other transport if you keep your wits about you. There are cycling proficiency courses all around the city you can take if you need a boost of confidence, some of them free. by GodFearingCylist (Wed 10th Aug 2022 11:45am)

  • Basically the wall is installed with a large opening and then 2 metal hinges are attached from the wall, onto each of 2 large wooden panels which fill the space of the opening. Handles are added to these hinged wooden panels attached to the wall opening, and they can then be “swung open,” either in a push or a pull action, depending on what side of door the hinge is, in relation to the individual. Once the “door;” is opened you should be able to make your way in and out of the opening of the wall, via the use of your “legs,” safely, and will be able to exit the building via the same “door,” in which you entered. I know it’s daunting first time, been there before too, but it’s good you’re just out there giving it a try, and I wish you the best of luck with it. 🙏 by GodFearingCylist (Sun 14th Aug 2022 9:07am)
