  • Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but which ones did you order? Everyone keeps talking about buying them themselves and fitting, but I don't have the first idea how I would fit something like that... and even if they're battery powered ones that just stick on or something, what do you do with the old ones? by HamletAndRye (Fri 28th Jan 2022 10:46am)
  • 0 IQ people? Mate, your comment history is full of talk about you taking dodgy SARMs/steroids for gym performance when you're only 20... by HamletAndRye (Sun 30th Jan 2022 9:29am)
  • Why? by HamletAndRye (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 5:52pm)
  • Fair enough. This feels like a weird place to make that argument tho... person just looking for friendly advice on where to park for a nice evening, first gig in two years. Bit of a slap in the face to lecture them about their absolutely minescule additions to the city's pollution problem. by HamletAndRye (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 5:58pm)
  • Yes, that's exactly what I said. Well done. by HamletAndRye (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 6:08pm)
  • This would be amazing. Would love to see infrastructure like that throughout the city. Feels like a pipe dream, though :( by HamletAndRye (Tue 8th Feb 2022 10:37am)
  • What are you supposed to do if you cycle to the station to get a train to work, then? by HamletAndRye (Wed 9th Feb 2022 9:00am)
  • Queen St specifically or just in general? Just wondering because I'll probably start having to cycle to Queen St. for an Edinburgh commute, and I'm anxious about where to leave the bike. by HamletAndRye (Wed 9th Feb 2022 9:40am)
  • Christ. Sorry to hear that... have you got Union Flag handlebar tassles or something?? That seems like a mad amount of bike abuse. by HamletAndRye (Wed 9th Feb 2022 1:29pm)
  • Arseholes. by HamletAndRye (Wed 9th Feb 2022 2:26pm)
  • Says the guy lashing out at everyone else that owns a car. by HamletAndRye (Fri 18th Feb 2022 5:33pm)
  • How did you manage that? That's more than half the average fixed rate price I've seen quoted in the last few weeks. by HamletAndRye (Sun 13th Mar 2022 9:41am)
  • An extra 1hr40 minutes to her day... by HamletAndRye (Wed 16th Mar 2022 2:00pm)
  • True about the extra, but that's some mental stretch to equate a massive walking commute to someone's time in the gym/personal exercise. by HamletAndRye (Wed 16th Mar 2022 3:32pm)
  • I dunno. My preferred commute is walking between rooms. by HamletAndRye (Wed 16th Mar 2022 8:57pm)
  • Yes, you're helping to pay for the folk that do need it for chronic illnesses. That's the point. by HamletAndRye (Sun 20th Mar 2022 10:11am)

  • What's your job, out of interest? by HamletAndRye (Mon 25th Apr 2022 8:34am)
  • Isn't that, like, 9 hours staring at a cinema screen? How do you have the stamina, especially through the wee hours? by HamletAndRye (Wed 4th May 2022 2:17pm)
  • Litter. I keep seeing people say there aren't enough bins and that's why it's a problem. Maybe. I've never really felt caught out, though. I think what a lot of people mean is, as soon as the thing I have in my hand becomes rubbish and needs to go in the bin, there isn't one immediately next to me, so fuck it. Folk don't seem to get you can just hang on to it until the next bin (probably one street away, tops). by HamletAndRye (Sun 29th May 2022 7:43am)
  • Any advice? by HamletAndRye (Sun 29th May 2022 9:18pm)
  • Thanks! We've let our little guy pad around the whole flat, other than the bedroom, so I think going back to one room/closing him in will be next to impossible. He's 5 months atm, but he used to be really good with being left alone. Something seems to have changed tho, and now I can barely go for a pee without him crying at the toilet door... by HamletAndRye (Mon 30th May 2022 5:57am)
  • Where do you live atm? by HamletAndRye (Mon 30th May 2022 12:54pm)
  • I'd love to do this, but I don't have the time this week. Think this'll come back? by HamletAndRye (Tue 31st May 2022 9:06pm)
  • Cheers! by HamletAndRye (Fri 3rd Jun 2022 9:50am)
  • Isn't this the same thing as the Rover app? Is it good? I had a look at the app, and it kinda feels like just random every day folk on there... by HamletAndRye (Fri 3rd Jun 2022 9:50am)
  • Aye, you've basically articulated my thoughts exactly. by HamletAndRye (Fri 3rd Jun 2022 10:43am)
  • Mate, are you okay? Calm down. by HamletAndRye (Mon 6th Jun 2022 10:15am)
  • How often are you contacted in an emergency, Batman? by HamletAndRye (Tue 7th Jun 2022 5:48pm)
  • Ah, sorry to hear that. Hope everything worked out. My snarky comment was also meant to be light-hearted! by HamletAndRye (Tue 7th Jun 2022 5:58pm)
  • Whiiiiiiiit. Fucking gutted to read this. What happened?? by HamletAndRye (Thu 9th Jun 2022 10:58am)
  • What do you do? by HamletAndRye (Thu 9th Jun 2022 11:14am)
  • Some patter, big man. Enjoy the chip on your shoulder about folk not buying into one guy's romanticised idea of what it means to be working class. by HamletAndRye (Thu 9th Jun 2022 1:10pm)
  • The guy screaming at a fictional group of people, threatening to skull fuck folk, and boasting about earning more money than others calling people angry... right. Talk to someone. by HamletAndRye (Thu 9th Jun 2022 4:55pm)
  • All these comments saying you could hear Ed Sheeran take a breath from the other side of the city seem like a massive exaggeration. I live in Mount Florida and the noise was fine. You could hear a din, aye, but hardly crystal clear or particularly disruptive. by HamletAndRye (Fri 17th Jun 2022 7:56am)
  • How are phones replacing pubs and clubs... whit? by HamletAndRye (Wed 20th Jul 2022 9:13pm)
  • You'll be very hard pushed to find many people that find more fun/meaningful socialisation through their phones than in a pub with pals. by HamletAndRye (Wed 20th Jul 2022 9:20pm)
  • You could simply not read the post and comment on it. How can something that you don't need to do feel tedious? by HamletAndRye (Fri 22nd Jul 2022 7:09am)
  • I prefer Ashoka, tbh. Live in Cathcart, and I've had to chase up every Clay Oven order after nearly 2 hours. by HamletAndRye (Sat 23rd Jul 2022 8:36am)
  • So, what's a person's alternative? Live in relative poverty when they have the means and opportunity to improve their life by moving to elsewhere in the UK? Would you do that? I doubt it. by HamletAndRye (Sat 23rd Jul 2022 8:43am)
  • Pulling that right out your arse though, aren't you? OP specifically mentioned renting, nothing about going over HR or buying. Just admit you're prejudiced and move on. by HamletAndRye (Sat 23rd Jul 2022 8:47am)
  • That's a shiter, no doubt about it, but it just feels deeply bizarre to tar everyone with that same brush. by HamletAndRye (Sat 23rd Jul 2022 9:12am)
  • It's not exactly West End upper class snobbishness to be sick of silly wee men in ridiculously loud cars in residential areas. by HamletAndRye (Mon 25th Jul 2022 10:17pm)

  • Ah, cheers! Good on them by HamletAndRye (Fri 29th Jul 2022 8:59am)
  • I think I might be literally the only person in Glasgow that tried this place and thought it was meh. I wonder if I just ordered the wrong thing. What are folk getting from the Real Wan? I want to try again by HamletAndRye (Fri 29th Jul 2022 8:57am)

  • Christ, why did you get so aggressively downvoted for this one? by HamletAndRye (Fri 16th Sep 2022 12:12pm)
  • Well, no. I still want to vote and be a regularly functioning member of society. I don't mind being called up, just that this one crossed with a pre-planned trip. Thanks for the tip! by HamletAndRye (Fri 16th Sep 2022 12:47pm)
  • Whit? It was at the cinema for a while? by HamletAndRye (Fri 16th Sep 2022 2:22pm)
  • Aye, some patter. Thanks for wasting your time commenting. by HamletAndRye (Mon 26th Sep 2022 10:49am)
  • Are you awright, mate? You're going off the deep end here. by HamletAndRye (Mon 26th Sep 2022 11:03am)
  • Read your other comments. What exactly do you want or expect of a city centre? You seem to despise any kind of event that might make you sit in traffic for a bit or increase the chance of litter and disruption. Aye, all annoying, but relatively minor in the wider scope of Glasgow actually behaving like a vibrant, bustling city with something going for it. If you're already pissed off about it being a bit annoying to nip to the shops during a big opportunity for the city, then maybe you should consider moving to a more remote spot where it's actually supposed to be quiet. by HamletAndRye (Tue 27th Sep 2022 4:23pm)
  • But how would Eurovision negatively impact that? And why should we turn down global events in the meantime? by HamletAndRye (Tue 27th Sep 2022 4:33pm)
  • How is Eurovision happening here in any way leading to economic instability? Whit? by HamletAndRye (Tue 27th Sep 2022 4:30pm)
  • Okay, let me rephrase. Why do you think Glasgow's economic stability or instability should factor into whether Eurovision should or should not happen here? by HamletAndRye (Tue 27th Sep 2022 4:52pm)
  • Bro, why can't you? by HamletAndRye (Tue 27th Sep 2022 4:50pm)
  • To be fair COP was during one of the meaty bits of the pandemic by HamletAndRye (Wed 28th Sep 2022 7:18am)
  • I was in a similar position recently. Went around a few different phone repair places in the Southside and 70 quid was the best I got quoted. One thing to note is that they'll likely just super glue an unofficial screen on. It'll still work perfectly well, but if you ever need Samsung to do a repair on it, then they'll say no because it's been tampered with. All turned into a bit of a nightmare for me trying to get a very fucked phone back on its feet. by HamletAndRye (Wed 28th Sep 2022 9:25am)
  • Ha, sounds like it could be a goer. Thanks! by HamletAndRye (Mon 10th Oct 2022 11:30am)

  • Haha, that does sound like a singular experience I'll never have by HamletAndRye (Mon 28th Nov 2022 10:11am)
  • What the others have said: I donate to charities, instead. I also just never have actual money on me these days, so there's rarely anything on me to give. I do always feel awful when I walk past or say no to someone, but the stories you hear about a lot of this money going to sinister groups is enough to deter me. by HamletAndRye (Tue 29th Nov 2022 8:09am)
  • Okay by HamletAndRye (Fri 2nd Dec 2022 12:00pm)
  • You crabbit bastards moan about nothing happening in this city and anything happening in this city. Miserable. by HamletAndRye (Sun 4th Dec 2022 10:05am)
  • Christ, thanks for this. Yeah, we own it, but absolutely not in the position to sink money into this, so I'll try and do as much as you've suggested myself... Is it worth stripping back the paper now, myself, to see what's underneath, without the other parts ready to go? by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 4:38pm)
  • Like I said, the window is open by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 4:42pm)
  • It's a very small bathroom, so I'm wondering if I need something this big? Aside from the cost, I wouldn't really have the space to store something like that when I'm not using it. by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 4:41pm)
  • Fair play! Dehumidifier it is... by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 4:53pm)
  • Amazing. Thanks for all this! I have paint rollers and that sort of thing, and a basic toolkit. Not much beyond that... would probably not be able to take back any existing plasterboard myself. Especially around light fittings and all that. I'm southside, but there's not much to show atm as I cleaned it all up last night (using that same spray). I'll snoop around for a dehumidifier and see if I can take this on as a project after Christmas by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 4:53pm)
  • This sounds like the answer, do you have the brand or link handy? Some of the ones I'm looking at Christmas-ruiningly expensive by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 5:03pm)
  • Yes, yes, I realised my mistake after I posted it. Can always count on you to act the cunt in any post on this subreddit. Get a hobby. by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 5:01pm)
  • Amazing! Thank you :) by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 5:17pm)
  • I think this might be part of the problem! Been meaning to get the gutters cleaned for a while. Any recommendations? by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 7:11pm)
  • Did you read the post? That's exactly what they said. by HamletAndRye (Wed 7th Dec 2022 8:20pm)
  • Aye, no worries, pal. Haud on while I uproot my entire life, sell my flat, and emigrate over a bit of condensation. by HamletAndRye (Thu 8th Dec 2022 8:26am)
  • Feel good now you've got that off your chest? Thanks for letting me know it's a piece of wood. It's almost as if the content of my post would suggest that I'm aware of that, and would like to splash out to get something made with a little more care for the sake of it being a nice gift for someone. Funny that, eh? by HamletAndRye (Thu 8th Dec 2022 11:10am)
  • Ooh, that's a nice idea. Could even do that myself, in fact by HamletAndRye (Thu 8th Dec 2022 11:16am)
  • Aye, a good shout. I'm now thinking of making one myself with my lapsed woodworking skills. Just trying to find a place to buy some decent wood by HamletAndRye (Thu 8th Dec 2022 12:01pm)
  • Aye, for some reason I hadn't realised that was part of the factor services. Booked it in this morning! by HamletAndRye (Thu 8th Dec 2022 12:13pm)
  • I don't really get all the "Glasgow is dying" chat in this sub. Every time I go into the city centre, it's heaving. There are definitely a lot of empty shop fronts, but the same is true all over: the convenience of online shopping killed the high street. It's not a Glasgow-specific issue. And worse still is that any time there is something new announced, whether it be restaurants, shops, hotels, residential, entertainment, the majority of the folk in this sub will immediately shit all over it. It's hard to work out what folk want from this place, sometimes. by HamletAndRye (Fri 9th Dec 2022 11:47pm)
  • Is it, aye? by HamletAndRye (Sat 10th Dec 2022 8:42am)
  • The fuck are you on about, pal? When did I mention independence or the SNP? I'm talking about how busy the city centre is. You might be the fuckin idiot here, given that you're struggling to read what you're actually replying to. Or do you think Sturgeon is out and about stabbing folk whenever it happens? by HamletAndRye (Sat 10th Dec 2022 8:57am)
  • Honestly, I think the folk that peddle this idea of it being a wasteland are folk that spend all their time at home, reading any/all bad news about the city and think it's the status quo. I don't remember it being this bad before lockdown... my completely unscientific reading is that it's folk too scared/timid to go out much, but negative enough to just want to moan about the place. by HamletAndRye (Sat 10th Dec 2022 9:17am)
  • God forbid folk want more from life than living in a housing estate in the arse end of the Ayrshire countryside with absolutely fuck all to do. by HamletAndRye (Mon 12th Dec 2022 6:14pm)

  • There's a gulf between effective protesting and ineffective. Unfortunately, this one lands on the bad end of that scale. But still, fair play for getting out and making some noise about it. by HamletAndRye (Thu 15th Dec 2022 2:01pm)
  • They're literally protesting the wrong organisation, far, far too late after the horse has bolted. These protests should have happened en masse in late summer, if not earlier. by HamletAndRye (Thu 15th Dec 2022 3:19pm)
  • ? This is the same info as the post above by HamletAndRye (Thu 15th Dec 2022 4:56pm)
  • Ah, got you. Fair play. by HamletAndRye (Thu 15th Dec 2022 5:04pm)
  • Protesting the right organisation (Ofgem) would be a start, mate. by HamletAndRye (Thu 15th Dec 2022 6:44pm)
  • Absolutely by HamletAndRye (Thu 15th Dec 2022 8:09pm)
  • I'm not discouraging it. It was really just an explanation for the person I was replying to who seemed confused about people having some criticisms on a few of the protests recently. by HamletAndRye (Thu 15th Dec 2022 10:16pm)
  • Is it? We're adults, we should be able to discuss complex topics in a nuanced way. Any criticism = discouragement is how we end up with such black and white divisions on everything. by HamletAndRye (Thu 15th Dec 2022 11:09pm)
  • It can be really rewarding, but unbelievably stressful... we got a puppy early this year. He's calmed down a lot, but still a bit restless, all fine young dog stuff, and we manage perfectly well. But my partner is back down South to see family for Christmas just now, and even these last two days of being the only one watching the dog have been really time-consuming and stressful at times. It's easy to forget until it's all on you. I love the wee guy, but to be completely honest, if I could go back and rethink it, I would. I'd wait until I was a bit more settled, maybe mid-thirties. Your mileage may vary, but the biggest warning I can give is: your time is rarely completely yours anymore. Like, goodbye long lies on a Saturday morning. That might be just what you want, tho! by HamletAndRye (Wed 21st Dec 2022 6:34pm)
  • Sometimes feel like I'm the only person that doesn't mind the darker mornings/evenings during the winter here by HamletAndRye (Thu 22nd Dec 2022 10:08am)

  • Wtf. Where in the southside are you seeing this stuff? by HamletAndRye (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 10:02am)
  • Is it, aye? by HamletAndRye (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 1:35pm)
  • Only folk that don't leave the house themself, and spend all their time talking shite about the city centre out of some weird kind of fear or insecurity say these things. The town's heaving every weekend, especially this time of year. by HamletAndRye (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 11:05pm)

  • I put our building on the waiting list about 6 months back. I'd love one on my street, but I'm almost certain my partner and I are the only ones that actually cycle on the whole street, so it's never going to happen. Meanwhile the street just over from us, with some of the tightest parking in the area just got a second one put in by HamletAndRye (Thu 19th Jan 2023 12:40pm)
  • Oh! I didn't realise. I'm not even at that stage, ha by HamletAndRye (Thu 19th Jan 2023 12:53pm)
  • Honestly, mate. Why do you make it your life's work to trawl this sub every single day just to leave completely cunty responses to sincere posts? by HamletAndRye (Fri 20th Jan 2023 5:13pm)
  • I've been saying for a while that my theory is it's mostly the folk that never leave the house that complain about most stuff. They'll moan endlessly about how shite they think Glasgow and how the town is "dead" (despite being fucking heaving almost all the time). Then, as soon as some new improvements are announced, they'll crow about how it'll be a failure. by HamletAndRye (Sat 21st Jan 2023 9:51am)

  • Just went through this process myself, and got the ring made with a designer called Saint Teneu in the city centre. Can't recommend her enough - really great work and put me at ease the whole way (and very reasonable on price!) by HamletAndRye (Mon 6th Mar 2023 12:28pm)
  • I went to this one for a year or so before switching to something closer. It's a wee bit full of Instagrammy folk and gym bros, but I never noticed or experienced anybody being anything less than courteous. Tonnes of good equipment, too, though a lot of it always seemed to be knackered. by HamletAndRye (Wed 8th Mar 2023 8:04am)
