  • People are forgetting that while we might have a vaccine against covid, no vaccine currently provides any protection against the South African variant, and has limited protection against the Brazilian variant, and likely has little to no protection against the Indian variant. We are far from free of this yet. Keep distancing, keep washing your hands, and stay safe. by Hudster2001 (Wed 12th May 2021 8:55pm)

  • I googled it and a guy runs a bus list with makes and depots. I found one of these buses on the list, working out of Glasgow. Might be worth giving first a call to see if they can give you any route information. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://ukbuses.co.uk/fleet/firstglasgow.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiOzPKNo_LxAhV9hP0HHVS2C-8QFjABegQIIRAC&usg=AOvVaw0eavS-nTzoAjJGcu8LBbv_ by Hudster2001 (Tue 20th Jul 2021 7:30pm)
  • I found a photo of that bus driving the 81 route in Clydebank, taken in April this year https://www.flickriver.com/photos/182518142@N07/51115385987/. Here's the spooky part, my wife's cousin drives that route for first. I'll ask him about that particular bus. by Hudster2001 (Tue 20th Jul 2021 7:36pm)

  • I designed that lighting scheme by Hudster2001 (Fri 29th Oct 2021 11:15pm)
  • It was done as part of a council project to light Glasgow landmarks, and was done before LEDs were mainstream, spots were easier and cheaper to highlight features, the main colour is salmon pink to highlight the sandstone and it does change but very slowly and cycles through similar colours, if you watch the water at the gates the lighting has a very slight stroboscopic effect to make the water seem smoother. When I designed it I was given the original construction drawings to copy, they were linen prints, I had my heart in my mouth putting then through a scanner in case they ripped. I was never as happy in my life as when I handed them back safely. They other building I designed was the college of commerce, I did the lighting on the rooftop, to highlight the buildings on it, as well as a line of LEDs down it's facade. by Hudster2001 (Fri 29th Oct 2021 11:49pm)

  • 99% of the council problems in the whole of the UK can be traced back to the right to buy scheme. All the UK councils lost most of their income generated from rentals, but are still expected to provide the same levels of service. As with everything wrong with the UK at this point, it can be traced back to Thatcher. Fucking old cow. by Hudster2001 (Thu 4th Nov 2021 5:56pm)
  • They didn't sell it, they transferred it to an intermediate company and then onto community owned housing companies. It was the largest transfer in the UK, and took a while due to the complexity of it. Although seen as problematic at the start, it's resulted in successful community ownership and maintenance, with many community owned companies now building new housing for the first time in decades. by Hudster2001 (Thu 4th Nov 2021 6:31pm)
  • Fucking joke. My green bin was due collected last week, and they won't schedule a new pick up. So it'll be 6 weeks between green bin collections for me. by Hudster2001 (Tue 9th Nov 2021 5:20pm)
  • This. by Hudster2001 (Fri 19th Nov 2021 2:24pm)
  • I contacted my councilor to complain about having to wait 6 weeks between green bin collections. He contacted the refuse department and one of them came out to my house to explain the policy. He also took the bin bags lying next to my bin away with him and apologised about the wait. If they don't pick it up tomorrow, your next stop should be your councillor, not the refuse department. by Hudster2001 (Wed 24th Nov 2021 11:04pm)

  • I saw a documentary once about the Glasgow gangs, it was quite sad watching a guy in his mid 20's talking about how he was a prisoner in his scheme because he was a known gang member and any time he tried to venture out his own area he was attacked. All his friends were either dead or locked up, and the girls avoided him because he was trouble, he basically was isolated from inside and outside his community. by Hudster2001 (Tue 7th Dec 2021 2:59pm)

  • From the BBC. "According to the guidance, the household of a positive case should self-isolate for the same 10-day period as the first positive case, regardless of vaccination status of anyone in the household. If someone else in the household develops symptoms while self-isolating, they should book a PCR test and if positive, extend their own self-isolation for a further 10 days from their own symptom onset. We asked the Scottish government what this would mean for the rest of the household. A spokeswoman said: "Other household members do not need to extend their self-isolation if they remain asymptomatic" by Hudster2001 (Fri 24th Dec 2021 9:09pm)

  • I used Clydebank mortgage matters. They are independent financial advisers, they don't charge you any fees and are pretty decent at getting you a good deal. We got our mortgage through them and none of the major banks/building societies could beat the price we were quoted. by Hudster2001 (Mon 21st Mar 2022 2:07pm)

  • Do you want to know why I stay local for a night out? A pint in my local costs less than half of what Bucks bar charges, add to that the much better atmosphere, cheery staff and the fact I can walk home in 10 minutes instead of waiting an hour in the cold and paying £25 for a taxi it's a no brainer. Emissions charge plays no part in my thought process of where to go. by Hudster2001 (Wed 18th Jan 2023 8:24am)
