  • Sorry forgot you said you were knew to Glasgow! Being arsed means being bothered...Sunday’s are for coffee, joints and TV marathon. Enjoy the trek, it is suppose to be beautiful! by McKintilloch (Sat 17th Oct 2020 1:08pm)
  • Fell bad for all the students who have been put in this position! I’ve spoken to a few clients who have said the same thing, the isolation is becoming truly depressing and difficult to manage. If you need a chat, ye can book a hair cut and I’ll gladly chat away ✂️ by McKintilloch (Wed 4th Nov 2020 8:34am)
  • Mojama... I haven’t thought about that place for years! I only went a few times and each time the place was either dead of filled with neds fighting! by McKintilloch (Mon 16th Nov 2020 9:13am)
  • The whole thing is fucked, the owners probably don’t have the money to pay them before claiming it back from government (that’s my understanding of how it works) the workers are left with nothing, the business will most likely fail and everyone looses! It’s happening all over the country. by McKintilloch (Thu 24th Dec 2020 7:17pm)

  • Yeah fuck the businesses that are allowed to stay open. Fuck them and the owners that rely on the minimal business they’re allowed to do. by McKintilloch (Sat 6th Feb 2021 9:49pm)
  • But they are allowed to, Everyone is allowed to freely travel within Glasgow City Council area. Or whichever local authority area they live. I don’t live near a decent coffee shop, funnily enough gentrification hasn’t quite reached the scheme yet. So yeah like OP, I will get in the car to get a nice coffee and go a walk. I am supporting a local business, I am sticking to the rules and folk really need to mind their own business. OP is genuinely just looking for somewhere to get a decent coffee FFS. by McKintilloch (Sat 6th Feb 2021 10:03pm)
  • Hey! There are tons of nice coffee shops still open. Here are a list of some of my favourites. West end - Primal Roast, Cellinos, Piece, The Steamie. East End - Cola’s, and honestly that’s about it for me. Southside - Strangebrew, grain & Grind, Kilmurray. If you make it into city centre, I do love Spitfire on Ingram Steeet. by McKintilloch (Sat 6th Feb 2021 10:08pm)
  • Yeah that would be a great idea, but I don’t have a decent enough coffee machine and getting a coffee and going a walk whilst out the house if one of my favourite things to do. by McKintilloch (Sat 6th Feb 2021 10:36pm)
  • Dude you have no clue what sacrifices I’ve made. Chastising someone for getting a coffee is the most wank thing I’ve heard of in recent memory. I am going to get out the house (allowed) to go get a coffee (allowed) and go a walk (allowed). Whilst I am at it, I am also supporting my friends businesses and keeping myself from going fucking insane. Mind your own business and stay locked in the house with your shit coffee if that what you want to do. by McKintilloch (Sat 6th Feb 2021 10:51pm)
  • The rules I have read allow me to leave the house for exercise and to buy food and drink. If it was a true national lockdown everything would be shut, they aren’t. Businesses need people to spend money or they will be wiped off the high street for good. If you wanna stay in the house with your shit coffee then do that, but I am still going to go a support a local business. by McKintilloch (Sat 6th Feb 2021 10:54pm)
  • How do you know you haven’t killed someone? It’s funny that that is your response, you can’t argue with the points I’ve made so just accuse me of murder. by McKintilloch (Sat 6th Feb 2021 11:10pm)

  • Can almost guarantee you Police Scotland will do nothing about it. Such a horrible thing to happen to anyone, but the build a case for that would take man hours and resources that just are not available unfortunately. by McKintilloch (Wed 10th Feb 2021 10:57pm)
  • Firstly, I pure love your username! Secondly, that guy just sounds like a right massive cunt. He’s wanted to frighten you because you dented his ego in front of people (I read you were sticking up for shop staff). Go pour yourself a large glass of yer favourite tipple and put your feet up. Thirdly, Just to set an expectation, the police will go and speak to him but it is highly unlikely that it will come to anything. Keep yer chin up, and get a cricket bat stashed under the passenger seat side incase of any other bastards in the future xx by McKintilloch (Wed 10th Feb 2021 11:03pm)

  • No long moved from East Dunbartonshire to Glasgow City council area. My tenement in EDC never had food wastage, same with the tenement in GCC. I just don’t think people use them correctly and put all sorts of shit into them, it’s causes more problems at the receiving end than it’s worth. I believe they just stopped them for tenements and flats because there is no way to know who was causing the problem and issue some kind of action letter or sanction like they can with private homes. by McKintilloch (Mon 22nd Feb 2021 10:35am)
  • It’s kind of weird to me that people still don’t understand that this behaviour is nothing to do with socioeconomic background but is entirely to do with their toxic upbringing (orange order, Masonic lodge etc etc etc). I know people there and they come from someof the wealthiest families in Glasgow. by McKintilloch (Mon 8th Mar 2021 10:09am)
  • Just a side bar - some of the people I know who were there come from some of the wealthiest families in Glasgow. Absolutely nothing to do with class, rather their toxic upbringing 🙂 by McKintilloch (Mon 8th Mar 2021 10:06am)
  • Tbh I would say that walking anywhere at night presents it’s own challenges. Oatlands is a good development, right in the edge of the Gorbals. Have a look into the history of the Gorbals and you will see what a massive redevelopment took place there. Still wouldn’t walk home from town at night. Maryhill is nicknamed ScaryHill... take from that what you need. My mums friend moved to Maryhill in the 80’s and her whole tenement was run by a family on the ground floor... rather than paying factor fees, she had to pay the family to protect the building. Funny anecdote now, but pretty scary at the time as she recalled. by McKintilloch (Mon 8th Mar 2021 12:38pm)

I am also pretty clear in my memory that they didn’t drag their knuckles through the streets of Glasgow City centre trashing the place. • The best piece of advise I have for you is.... NEVER complete a sale on a Friday. Solicitors love to take a boozey lunch on Fridays (pre Covid obvs) and any issue you have with the completion will likely not get resolved until the following Monday. by McKintilloch (Thu 11th Mar 2021 1:47pm)
  • Snagging, snagging, snagging!!! Go with a reputable new build developer!! Honestly I would wait until the house is a few years older and it has had time to settle and the builder have fixed all their issues. Several of my close friends have bought new builds in the past few years and some have had an absolute nightmare with the builders. That’s the only advise I have about new builds! by McKintilloch (Thu 11th Mar 2021 1:45pm)
  • Congrats on the new gaff!!! For utilities definitely use a price comparison site, Uswitch is probably best. Broadband is a funny one I’ve always found... there are some shitty providers out there so make sure you know what your priorities are before making a selection. Speak to your neighbours to see who they use. For furniture I would be checking gumtree and Facebook market place. You can filter out to search for things that are currently being offered for free!! Make sure and do this first thing in the morning as the up cycle crowd get in there fast. Get yourself to B&M for homeware essentials like cutlery, kettle toaster, glasses & mugs etc. Good luck!! by McKintilloch (Mon 15th Mar 2021 11:05am)

  • My mum is a befriender. Pre Covid she would take elderly and lonely people out for the day, coffee shopping or museum etc. During covid though she has been giving them a call each week for a good couple hours. She hasn’t been told when this can restart, but she is hoping soon. by McKintilloch (Thu 1st Apr 2021 10:10am)

  • It’s definitely a tough market… it all depends on what you are looking to buy. Kirkintilloch is a good area and does have affordable flats to buy. Houses with back and front gardens on the other hand don’t stay on the market for more than a few days and are going way above HR. I have been speaking with a few people about this as my flat is currently on the market. There are a few different things going on just now. 1, the pandemic has allowed people to save a shit ton of extra cash. 2, The pandemic has also made people want to have bigger space which means they are prepared to pay a premium for it. They are skipping buying small 1 bed flats and going straight to bigger homes. 3,Folks from outside of Glasgow are also buying here. For instance, many Londoners are buying pension fund rental properties here because they can no longer afford their own homes in London. They have been priced out by foreign billionaires who have the additional £25-£100k to outbid.. this is now having a knock on effect up here. I’ve worked in mortgages for a while a long time ago and I remember a similar thing in 2008… houses selling way above their value and when the arse fell out the subprime market everything collapsed. This isn’t exactly the same but… With inflation starting to rise and rise the Bank of England will need to do something about it and the most common thing they do to counter balance high inflation is to raise interest rates. One theory is that this will cause the market to slow down and for prices to balance out because the repayments will be less affordable. This could also cause the market to crash completely again like in 2008. With peoples mortgage payments being more expensive this could result in more repossessions and a stall in the regular buyers market and increase in the buy to let market. My gut tells me that this cannot continue at its current rate and the market has to crash but this is not a guarantee. Honestly, good luck to you and your partner and hope you find your dream home. by McKintilloch (Sat 31st Jul 2021 7:37am)
