  • Playing devils advocate, many of the parents may be dropping their kids off before heading straight to work, walking your child to school, walking home and then going to work, may not be practical. For the record, my wife walks my daughter to school. by NonnoBobKelso (Fri 24th May 2019 6:01pm)
  • As the hospital's pesky data protection would seem to stop you. Have you also posted on Facebook, it will spread more easily there, I would think. by NonnoBobKelso (Sat 22nd Jun 2019 8:57am)
  • Google doesn't really give an explanation of the name, so it's a perfectly valid question. So either provide a link to this mythical website, or just haud yer wheesht. by NonnoBobKelso (Fri 12th Jul 2019 10:03pm)
  • Map on the website linked, but it's just outside Uddingston on the other side of the M74 from Daldowie Crematorium. Behind the Black Bear Pub. by NonnoBobKelso (Wed 23rd Oct 2019 9:03pm)
  • Probably a long shot, but perhaps it fell out the taxi, when you got out ? Go and check where the taxi dropped you off ? Ot possibly check with Tesco ? by NonnoBobKelso (Tue 17th Dec 2019 7:56am)
  • I had thought about that, but I thought that if it fell on to the road the WiFi might have got cut if the phone had been run over, but the photos might still have been recoverable had it been there. Good luck. by NonnoBobKelso (Tue 17th Dec 2019 4:47pm)
  • I don't mean to sound rude, but do you have any friends with all that moving. How did you make them when you move to a new area ? by NonnoBobKelso (Sat 11th Jan 2020 12:55am)
  • DELETED I don't think you're pun deserves the downvotes. by NonnoBobKelso (Sun 23rd Feb 2020 6:35pm)

  • Is this building supposed to look like a cigarette lighter, or is it just coincidence? by NonnoBobKelso (Sat 9th May 2020 12:41am)
  • Not sure what the downvotes are for, it's just an observation. Button on the left for the gas, flame comes out the on the right hand side. Are you telling me, I'm the only one seeing this ? by NonnoBobKelso (Sat 9th May 2020 12:04pm)
  • The river thing is an interesting one, I've never thought of before, but see exactly what you mean. Some cities have some lovely Riverside restaurants and bars and make a feature of it. We largely ignore it. by NonnoBobKelso (Wed 27th May 2020 2:23pm)
  • FFS, He's looking for suggestions for somewhere to get a good munchy box, he never asked for a critique of this one. If you've all seen better boxes just tell him where you got it. by NonnoBobKelso (Thu 28th May 2020 11:35pm)
  • It would be polite to ask the person that maintains it, but it is your garden, and you shout be free to use it, as long as you are not taking up the whole garden (especially with social distancing in force). The down side with asking, is if he says no, then you're in an awkward position of being told you can't, when you're quite entitled to. Some recognition of his efforts are due though. "It is easier to ask forgiveness than permission". On a side note, I'm led to believe that if you put black bin bags on the water, in direct sunlight, the black absorbs the heat and warms your pool. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.heart.co.uk/lifestyle/heating-paddling-pool-bin-bag/ by NonnoBobKelso (Fri 29th May 2020 11:51am)
  • Let us know how you get on with it please. by NonnoBobKelso (Fri 29th May 2020 11:55am)
  • I normally do the kettle, but my wife suggested this. I haven't tried it yet though, so no promises, article seems to suggest warm in under an hour. by NonnoBobKelso (Fri 29th May 2020 12:18pm)
  • If you're talking purely about size, which you mention. Birmingham - 1,141,816 Leeds - 793,139 GLASGOW - 633,120 Sheffield - 584853 Manchester - 552,858 Bradford - 539,776 Liverpool - 498,042 Edinburgh - 488,050 Bristol - 463,377 Newcastle - 302,820 These are from Wikipedia and are the populations for the respective Metropolitan borough. The Greater City populations will obviously be bigger, and varies a lot, depending on geography, urban sprawl of respective cities, zoning (what each authority counts as city) but it will give you an idea. by NonnoBobKelso (Thu 11th Jun 2020 9:11am)
  • Please could you provide sources to your claims as: It's not true to state that asymptomatic carries don't spread it. https://www.statnews.com/2020/06/09/who-comments-asymptomatic-spread-covid-19/ And also untrue that homemade masks are ineffective according to the Royal Society(although others disagree) https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/04/scientists-disagree-over-face-masks-effect-on-covid-19 It's also unfair to say that it's not reasonable for me to expect you to wear a mask, as you not wearing the mask puts me at risk, not the other way round. Granted some of the evidence/opinions are divided, but surely it's better to err on the side of caution, by taking a simple easy measure, and your hyperbolic argument of staying locked up for the rest of your life is nonsense. Why not wear a mask of it might help ? by NonnoBobKelso (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 3:04pm)
  • I think it's above our pay grades to determine why the WHO retracted their statement, but I think it would be fairer to state at best that opinion is divided, if not just inconclusive, as the WHO stated, meaning it's safer to assume it can be transmitted. Launching insults and providing unprovable opinion is not an argument. I can provide evidence of the Royal Society recommending mask wearing, but conveniently again your argument has no backing. Again this is not true, The guidance is that masks are to be worn on public transport, and in enclosed spaces. Why do you think this is if masks have no use ? So in summary, we should trust your opinion over the stated opinion of the WHO (because you're so clever and have more than half a brain). The Royal Society is not to be trusted, but you can't detail a body who should, so should again we rely on your opinion. We should also disregard government recomendations, because you know better. I think I'll stick with the WHO, the Royal Society and the Government, rather than some random guy of the internet. by NonnoBobKelso (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 3:35pm)

  • The last Duke post I can see on this sub is from 3 days ago, with no cone, hence this post. Couldn't actually see any other Duke posts, but I didn't go very far back. by NonnoBobKelso (Thu 2nd Jul 2020 10:02pm)
  • The tweet is from yesterday, beyond that I haven't tried to verify the photograph. by NonnoBobKelso (Thu 2nd Jul 2020 10:23pm)
  • Is this a recent photo ? If so, I'm going to be the arsehole, and point out none of the people outside of Coia's, look like they are social distancing or wearing masks. by NonnoBobKelso (Fri 16th Oct 2020 11:37am)
  • The original Coia's is the 4th awning down. The front three awnings are on a new building that Coia's built to extend the Cafe, on what was an empty plot for as long as I can remember, but wouldn't be surprised, if it was a tenement building at some point in its past. by NonnoBobKelso (Fri 16th Oct 2020 11:41am)
  • CovidCalypso, if you wanted to take some photos on your walk and post them up here, I'm sure you'd get a few upvotes. by NonnoBobKelso (Sun 25th Oct 2020 9:35pm)
  • Any '4 slice' long slit toaster will do the job. Thought this was obvious. Are people not aware of these toasters ? by NonnoBobKelso (Sun 13th Dec 2020 12:39am)
  • There's even a filter on the Currys website for "long slot toaster" type. This shouldn't really be a surprise to people. https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/long-slot-toasters/small-kitchen-appliances/toasters/336_3157_30245_xx_ba00011266-bv00313335/xx-criteria.html by NonnoBobKelso (Sun 13th Dec 2020 12:57am)
  • No need to apologise, just make sure you don't miss your next Toasting meeting. (They are currently being held over zoom) by NonnoBobKelso (Sun 13th Dec 2020 8:42am)
  • Today's lesson; you have to pay for bins !! Never moved in to a new build, so never gave it any thought, just thought it was one of those things the council provided, much like they've done when they started adding all the recycling bins for us to use. Just a note for OP as well, once you get them, I assume you've got it all in hand, but just to make sure you don't miss anything.(assuming you're moving from out of area) Were in SLC and we have 4 bins in total(I assume you have ordered all 4), and you need to check the SLC website for what is collected when(or wait for the neighbors to put out theirs and copy that) : Black,(fortnightly) Silver,(4 weekly) Blue,(4 weekly) Burgundy.(fortnightly) by NonnoBobKelso (Mon 18th Jan 2021 2:16pm)
