  • Where your moving to is also known as Oatlands - used to be an area of its own until it was pulled down. It's quiet as there's no shops or anything for folk to hang about As the previous comment says, Crown St in the Gorbals is partial to a junkie or 4 as there's two chemists but never had any bother when I lived there. As a student it's ideal for walking into town and there's a new pub at Richmond Park too and even a new Farmfoods nearby 😂 I really like the area and would defo stay there if I had the funds. by Nurse_short_arse (Sun 10th Mar 2019 10:46pm)
  • The farmfoods is in front of a wee industrial estate across from Richmond park, near the new pub. Nothing other than builders yards etc at the back of it so not bad in terms of junkies or that hanging about but not great for choice as the nearest newsagents and coop etc are a wee bit of a walk away but again the town's not far at all so doesn't matter too much. by Nurse_short_arse (Sun 10th Mar 2019 11:39pm)
  • I stay in Croftfoot, so far so good. It quiet and has good parks nearby. I dont drive but there's buses every 10 mins into the city centre and Shawlands and the train is every half hour. by Nurse_short_arse (Thu 28th Mar 2019 7:46pm)
  • Theres the new houses in Spittal, in between the Croft and Croftfoot train station. They look no bad and good value for money. Tbh you could get a 4 in a block in Croftfoot/Kingspark with a driveway and a garden and have money to spare...stayed in both areas, they're mostly quiet with the odd arsehole but think that's the norm for anywhere really. by Nurse_short_arse (Thu 16th May 2019 8:44pm)
  • That's great thanks! The helpline is closed and the thought of buying tickets again has been pissing me off all night so was hoping for an answer before I went to bed. Thanks again! X by Nurse_short_arse (Fri 21st Jun 2019 11:16pm)

  • This happened to me once. I stay in a four in a block, I'm the side door and the upstairs neighbours door is at the front. It's not always clear from the street which house number is which. Phoned a Dominos one Tuesday night and had been waiting for ages. Had been checking the tracker and it looks as if it's been delivered. I called back to be told that it had been delivered to my address a while ago. They were really good actually and sent another one out when I said I definitely did not have my pizza. The delivery guy came and said he was really sorry, he got the wrong door and delivered to my neightbour. She just took the pizza in and didnt crack a light. By this point I was hangry as fuck so went and chapped her door and she never answered. Left it that, never looked at her the same since. by Nurse_short_arse (Mon 28th Sep 2020 12:08am)

  • My 5 year old has got right into space and planets recently. Got an app which you hold up to the sky and it tells you the name of the stars/planets above. Couldnt believe the big stars we were looking at were actually Saturn and Jupiter, they were so clear. He was buzzing. We went to the park on Weds to try and see the meteor shower but it was too cloudy 👎 by Nurse_short_arse (Fri 9th Oct 2020 11:30am)

  • I live in a cottage flat in Croftfoot & I really does depend on your neighbours. I'm really lucky that I have good neighbours that aren't ridiculously noisy. You can hear a lot tho, I'm a lower and can hear them walking around, their music and TV if it's up loud enough. Saying that, I barely notice it now. I have a great big garden and love the area for its close proximity to good parks and good transport links with buses and the train station nearby. For the price, its a good compromise. They are really reasonable for the price compared to other areas, the shitey soundproofing and tiny kitchen are the compromise x by Nurse_short_arse (Mon 15th Feb 2021 7:36pm)

  • The vials only last 5 hours after the first dose is withdrawn. If there's doses left and no priority folk available to give it to then would prefer it was given to someone else than put it in the bin by Nurse_short_arse (Mon 29th Mar 2021 6:39pm)
  • Not trying to start an argument, just offering another perspective. My point was that there are always vaccines left at the end of the day and there are not always priority or front line workers available to take them, in which case they go in the bin. by Nurse_short_arse (Mon 29th Mar 2021 7:09pm)
  • Key workers are being vaccinated, the majority have already been vaccinated and plenty have already had their second dose, myself included. These are not doses that are being taken away from key workers, were talking about doses that will otherwise go to waste if someone, anyone, does not take it. I agree key workers, teachers, carers etc deserve to get vaccinated first but that's just always possible so why waste a dose that someone else can have? It seems like cutting your nose off to spite your face kind of thinking. by Nurse_short_arse (Mon 29th Mar 2021 8:23pm)
  • Totally understand, its been a long hard slog. Not getting at you either. Hope your OK. Shouldn't be long till its your turn. Hopefully we see a way out of this shit show soon x by Nurse_short_arse (Mon 29th Mar 2021 9:17pm)

  • That's so frustrating for you! It seems so unfair that you had an appointment that was cancelled through no fault of your own and now all this hassle. I've been in numerous queues all day and keep getting error messages after putting my details in. Will go anywhere to sit it at this rate, can't keep doing lessons indefinitely. by Nurse_short_arse (Mon 19th Jul 2021 3:41pm)

  • Depends on where your going. Flew to Belfast, no checks on way out or back. Spent a few days in Donegal and they check you have your vaccine cert when going into pubs, restaurants, etc x by Nurse_short_arse (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 8:04pm)
  • Yes it is, the Southside is south of the river Clyde. Castlemilk, Toryglen, Gorbals, Simshill, Cathcart, Govanhill, Newlands, Shawlands, Strathbungo, Pollokshaws, Pollokshields, Dumbrek, Pollok, Govan, Penilee, Ibrox, Cardonald, Cessnock are all Southside. I'm sure I've missed plenty but you get the idea, it's not just the wee trendy bits that you mentioned. by Nurse_short_arse (Sun 24th Oct 2021 12:24pm)

  • You don't really get to pick and choose what areas are classed as Southside. If an area is south of the river it is southside, affluent or not. Take Cathcart Road for example, starts in Govanhill and ends in Mount Florida. Is one end Southside and the other not? by Nurse_short_arse (Sun 24th Oct 2021 1:37pm)

  • I live here too. As previous comments say, its pretty quiet. Transport links are good , a few bus routes and train station. Good neighbours are a must tho as you can hear everything in these houses. That being said the house prices are decent compared to other nearby areas at the minute x by Nurse_short_arse (Tue 14th Dec 2021 8:20pm)

The rule for continuing isolation is for people who develop symptoms after a household contact had tested positive. My household was in this position last week and I called test and protect to check (or whatever they are called) by Nurse_short_arse (Wed 22nd Dec 2021 6:58pm)
  • Loved the magic bus! The drivers used to put the foot down as well, quickest bus journey into town. There's a wee white bus that still goes round Croftfoot, Spittal, Rutherglen and down to Asda. The M75 or something? Jumped on it on a whim to go to Asda from Croftfoot roundabout and it took about 45 minutes, enjoyed it tho. The regulars all seemed to know each other and the driver had music on singing away. by Nurse_short_arse (Wed 19th Jan 2022 6:19pm)
  • Sapporo Tepanyaki in Merchant City is good, my kids love it. The chefs make a show of cooking the food and they are really funny too. The food is good for kids too, they can have chicken and fried rice if they are fussy eaters x by Nurse_short_arse (Wed 20th Apr 2022 10:20pm)
  • Yeah it can be pricey, they do half /smaller portions for kids if I remember correctly so works out a wee bit cheaper for them x by Nurse_short_arse (Wed 20th Apr 2022 10:41pm)
  • Castlemilk Woods is a good shout for that, I've walked round it a few times, it's mostly bordered by the housing scheme but once your in the woods it is pretty wild and beautiful. You could probs get some nice shots in the woods with the houses and high rises in the background. Same with Cathkin Braes. And the are also deer 😂 by Nurse_short_arse (Thu 26th May 2022 8:59am)

  • I had a downstairs neighbour like this in new build flats, would buzz up and rant about the noise we were making whenever we moved around the flat amd then run back inside before we could speak to her face to face and refuse to answer the door. she would shout about our morning routine as if we had any choice in getting up for work and disturbing her sleep with our showering and getting dressed nonsense. She would also wait until we had gone to bed to buzz up and shout about the noise we had made on our way to bed 😂 She also had the council out who went into her flat to listen to what she was complaining about. He came up and basically said she was a mentalist (in more diplomatic terms) and told us not to worry they would not be taking it further. She was basically complaining that we were not moving around the flat on a system of ropes and pulleys and had the cheek to be walking on the floor. We did have laminate flooring but put down rugs everywhere and wore slippers as soon as she starting complaining. Honestly got to laugh now but it was a nightmare at the time, tiptoeing around the flat scared to anger the beast downstairs. Couldn't wait to get out of there, heaven help who ever moved in after us. by Nurse_short_arse (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 9:52pm)
  • Same, we were in early 20s at the time and couldn't have friends over or play music. We had to sit quiet as mice at night with the tv down low, shiteing ourselves to go and make a cup of tea coz it meant walking across the living room 😂 Wish I had the confidence at the time to tell her to fuck off and buy a bungalow but I was a timid wee thing then. by Nurse_short_arse (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 10:05pm)

  • I did this when I was about 12. Sitting in the middle seat in the back row of a packed ,roasting bus when I started seeing stars. Just had time to tell my mum I was going to be sick before spewing right down the aisle , ran like a river all the way to the front. Mum was mortified, I was so ill I couldn't even muster up any embarrassment. by Nurse_short_arse (Thu 24th Aug 2023 10:08pm)

  • I feel for you. My son is bothered by the same thing and has recently had chalazion removal. First step is go and see an optician. They will more than likely give you a long course of antibiotics, these don't always work but are the first line in treatment as far as I am aware. The optician can refer you for chalazion removal. My son was told nhs waiting list is a year but it might be different for you as it is affecting your vision. His was large and unsightly but luckily did not affect his eye sight. I dont know if an urgent referal may be an option in your case? This would definitely be something to discuss with an optician. I know you mentioned applying heat not working but please try a heated eye mask and use it morning and night and whenever you can in between. Then massage the area afterwards, It really does make a difference. If you google chalazion massage on you tube there are some videos on the correct technique. Although it didn't get rid of my son's chalazions completely, it did shrink a couple of them down as it helped to express some of the oil out. Tbe antibiotics didnt work for my son and he ended up getting a referral from his optician to a private clinic (rosshall) for removal of the largest chalazion as it was affecting his confidence and didnt feel he could wait a year. It cost him over £700 but it has made a massive difference. I know that's not an option for everyone, he was lucky that he had a bit saved. I would make an appointment with an optician as soon as possible to discuss your options. Good luck. by Nurse_short_arse (Tue 12th Sep 2023 10:26am)
