  • I never get this argument. I see people doing the right thing here - using the bin. Council job is to empty the bin, which they don't do frequently enough. If we would all be carrying our trash with us they might as well remove all the bins. The only solution is to start emptying the bins and cleaning the streets more often - like other cities manage to do. I think there has been enough complaints for council to notice this problem. They haven't replied to any of my emails about litter on the streets though so not sure if they get the message. by Plastikova (Fri 6th Nov 2020 1:05pm)
  • Thanks a lot, I will check it out! Really appreciated! by Plastikova (Wed 23rd Dec 2020 12:29pm)
  • thanks a lot, I have been complaining about recycling and litter on the streets couple of times through the official process on the Glasgow City Council website - with no effect/reply. this should be more effective! by Plastikova (Tue 12th Jan 2021 8:31pm)
  • why? by Plastikova (Sun 2nd May 2021 10:12am)
  • I'm an immigrant living in Scotland - this is probably how they taught me at school..I use both forms and didn't know there is something wrong with it? by Plastikova (Sun 2nd May 2021 11:04am)
  • Yes! This, so much. With Scotrail to be re-nationalised, the next stop (!) should be Glasgow! Join Get Glasgow Moving, they do amazing job to make this happen. by Plastikova (Mon 3rd May 2021 5:11pm)
  • Yes, you're right and I'm aware of the form of this process, it still makes Scotrail nationalised, so I don't think it is so relevant in this discussion. Maybe only as signal how easy it would be potentially to take back ownership of busses, perhaps similarly you wouldn't need any new special legislation in Glasgow? Are you sure Transport Secretary said it is temporary? He said that he doesn't know how long current agreement will last, but also " Scotland’s transport secretary, Michael Matheson, said: “The current franchising system is no longer fit for purpose.” [https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/mar/17/scotlands-railways-to-be-nationalised-next-year](https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/mar/17/scotlands-railways-to-be-nationalised-next-year) Didn't know about Northlink, it's a shame. by Plastikova (Tue 4th May 2021 6:53am)
  • Same here, sent some complaints about a year ago, never heard back. Looks like they are active on social media though. What you described is horrible..I also do not feel safe when cycling. I hope you won't give up, this system was meant to support the citizen. You've got a lot on your side to fight them - good luck! by Plastikova (Thu 3rd Jun 2021 6:49am)
  • In most places it's actually better to not cut the grass to help the environment. They might be accidently right in this one ;) (bees, polution, CO2 etc) by Plastikova (Mon 19th Jul 2021 7:00am)
  • Yay! Love this idea. There is not a single reason for people to own SUVs. I am not a fan of blaming individuals while there is lack of sufficient policies, but SUVs are so utterly selfish that I can't find an excuse in my head for why the hell as society we are OK with them :( by Plastikova (Fri 12th Nov 2021 8:52am)
  • Fair enough - didn't think of this reason. Is there any alternative? by Plastikova (Fri 12th Nov 2021 10:40am)
  • Yes, I agree. I guess it's really hard when you need to disrupt to make sure you don't disrupt too much ;) Yep, all I see in SUVs is mothers driving their kids around and it always makes me really sad, like in this horrible video where a woman in a big car almost drove over a Insulate Britain protester shouting that she must drive her kid somewhere. There are mothers that drive kids in smaller cars - are these kids gonna get worse education? ;) Don't they actually care about their future? by Plastikova (Fri 12th Nov 2021 10:58am)
  • Hi, there is a good facebook group [https://www.facebook.com/groups/1304750543340743](https://www.facebook.com/groups/1304750543340743) with lots of drop off points and bulk drop off points listed. The organisers often need transport help too if anyone has a van and spare time. I think it's worth double checking if clothes are still needed. I was helping send one transport last weekend and we had tones of clothes, some of them summer clothes or in really bad state. Some organisations don't collect more at the moment and focus on urgent survival items, like thermal blankets, first aid kits or they collect toiletries and baby formula etc. So better check before donating clothes as this might be more hassle than help for some organisers at the moment - they also need to store it somewhere, it can be a logistical challenge. by Plastikova (Thu 3rd Mar 2022 7:14am)
  • If you are still looking there is a good facebook group but I recommend double checking if they still collect clothes which might not be the priority right now: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1304750543340743 by Plastikova (Thu 3rd Mar 2022 7:20am)
