  • Hi - I'm actually having exactly the same problem, west end though! I can't seem to find any information on landlord registration, does anyone know if there's a way to check if its a HA flat? These people have just moved in and are honestly rotters, up all night every night slamming what sounds like weights about, and the whole close is filthy with rubbish and cigarette ends now. Absolutely brutal by Selkie2403 (Tue 8th Jun 2021 2:01pm)
  • Do you think this will work on a top floor flat? Do they put boxes down inside the flat etc? Sorry total newbie at this! by Selkie2403 (Wed 8th Sep 2021 2:49pm)
  • Thank you - however I have done this before and waited 2 days for Royal Mail to deliver, and longer for the results. I can't afford this time off so unfortunately need a quick(er) solution! by Selkie2403 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 5:35pm)
  • Yep - Glasgow has one of the lowest car per household % in Scotland. Clearly there is a need for accessible, walk-in sites - particularly as you're instructed to not take public transport/ taxis to test sites by Selkie2403 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 8:43pm)
  • Aye 2011 - links in the post above for recent data. Exact % doesn't matter anyway, still a need for walk in neighbourhood sites. by Selkie2403 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 9:08pm)
  • 36% (2011), 47% (2020), 51% doesn't matter - still a clear trend and need for local walk through sites. by Selkie2403 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 9:06pm)
  • Yes, but I think you've missed my point - you need to order the test which comes next day (i have waited 2 days before) whjch is then posted back and then processed. Whereas at a walk in site I can get it same day and fhe results the following. I unfortunately don't have the luxury to take this much time off work to isolate. by Selkie2403 (Fri 24th Sep 2021 9:31am)
  • Out of curiosity did the air filter do much good? Top floor flat which is knocked through so we have 2 flats directly below. At any given point at least one of them is smoking and when they're both at it its brutal. Add in the occasional joint and it's insufferable and wakes me up in the night. Any tips greatly appreciated as it's usually too cold to keep the window open now by Selkie2403 (Fri 17th Dec 2021 5:13pm)

  • Partick - noticed lots of notices about rodent control and experienced mice in our flat quite heavily, we blocked up all the holes with wire wool and a high pitched alarm and seems to have worked. by Selkie2403 (Fri 14th Jan 2022 2:37pm)

  • I live in the west end and our neighbours (HA) moved out due to an infestation but didn't tell us so behold they moved through the walls to us looking for a scran. Hoover each day in between slats etc and wash everything on the highest possible heat, bag anything and everything, even if you've moved out they can hide in your clothes etc for months. We found getting dimataceous earth and sprinkling it down the cracks between floor boards etc helped. Horrible experience by Selkie2403 (Mon 17th Jan 2022 9:17am)

  • In our close, two people moved out at 600pcm and just went up last month for 1100pcm, 2 international students are in now, happy to pay it for 8 months or so, as they're absolutely loaded. I think there's also been a culture shift recently in people buying their first flat in the city then moving out to a 3/4 bed in the country but keeping the flat on as a rental. But its one less house on the market and the supply hasn't caught up! Scottish gov inaction as per usual. by Selkie2403 (Thu 10th Mar 2022 6:31pm)

  • Know you're fishing for a reaction, but this is a part of our history and it's important we recognise and quite rightly apologise for it too. We don't need to erase our history, but we need to show the full story too. History need not repeat itself, and this is the sort of awareness raising that goes a long way in ensuring it doesn't. by Selkie2403 (Thu 31st Mar 2022 10:44pm)

  • How can I be sure of this? Its right along the under side of the window sill and wall below, so starting to suspect it could be the window itself. by Selkie2403 (Mon 12th Dec 2022 4:15pm)
  • Thank you- ill do this! I've been trying to get the factor to clear the gutters for a few weeks now so wondering if connected. by Selkie2403 (Tue 13th Dec 2022 8:51am)
  • I have tried to make enquiries with them and got told more or less that it wasn't effecting them so no need for the unnecessary expense. Can I get someone out and pay myself then invoice the factor/deduct from my payments to them? by Selkie2403 (Thu 29th Dec 2022 3:14pm)
  • Depends on what you're looking for. I have a top floor 2 bed tenement in the east end, neighbours are quiet genuinely never hear much noise other than their kids playing with toys etc sometimes after school. Close, garden etc all kept tidy. Yes some problems with mould/damp etc but a dehumidifier has sorted this issue for us and just ensuring we keep the flat ventilated. For us, its affordable, solid and suits our needs at this moment in our life (late 20s) by Selkie2403 (Tue 31st Jan 2023 1:59pm)
  • Hello- also joining the thread about whilst on the app reporting potholes potentially also report flytipping/litter, as to give credit where its due the waste teams are really responsive after its reported by Selkie2403 (Fri 3rd Feb 2023 1:52pm)
  • Sorry - I should have said it is predominately flytipping I report (east end) and it does get picked up within 2-3 days usually, its a constant issue here. Waste of time and resources as well for the council. On litter, agree. Our area is a mess too - its whole city wide, we're looking to start up an action group on litter in the neighbourhood. Council are being supportive with highvis/pickers etc. Should hopefully have the group up and running within the next month or so. by Selkie2403 (Fri 3rd Feb 2023 2:09pm)
  • Genuinely public transport in Glasgow and the wider city region is an utter joke compared to most other similar sized cities. We need to start holding politicians and elected members to account by Selkie2403 (Sat 11th Feb 2023 1:51pm)
  • Why is Glasgow such a mess? by Selkie2403 (Tue 14th Feb 2023 3:39pm)
  • Came here to say exactly this too- bought a flat for under 140k in the tenements next to Alexandra Park. 2 bed, massive rooms, really quiet, leafy area and easily connected by bus and train. by Selkie2403 (Tue 14th Feb 2023 3:44pm)

  • We all are complaining about the same things all the time, how can we start to see some action? Petitions? Voting for the right people? I do my bit litter picking when I can, it's always crisp packets, cans, bottles etc, litter is a symptom of a much bigger problem which is that we live in a consumerist, throwaway society. by Selkie2403 (Sun 5th Mar 2023 9:46pm)
  • Christies by Selkie2403 (Sun 5th Mar 2023 10:34pm)

  • Its a shame that this is the crux of it, despite the council and factors having all the evidence and power to fine/confront. Sad times by Selkie2403 (Tue 30th May 2023 10:56pm)
  • Thank you for this - I did email the councillors/council asking if I could plant flowers but they said the area was marked with the factor as maintained grasslands so wouldn't be able to. Its just frustrating as I feel like its quite normalised on the street, whereas I'm quite new to the area so I'm a bit like what the fuck? by Selkie2403 (Tue 30th May 2023 10:56pm)
