  • I’m going to go for “soon to mysteriously burst into flames and be replaced by Luxury Apartments” by dogforahead (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 11:27am)
  • Have you considered opening the golf courses to the public for exercise which could take a lot of pressure off the parks? Pollok park was mobbed to the point of being unsafe the other day while the two big golf courses on either side were empty. by dogforahead (Tue 5th Jan 2021 11:10am)
  • Mind the giant doughnuts they did in the 90s? They were like the size of your head, my brother and I would get one between us by dogforahead (Sat 16th Jan 2021 11:18am)
  • Aw man, we do not need roving gangs of militant trainspotters right now. by dogforahead (Sun 24th Jan 2021 9:23am)
  • I did think that but it looks like 334 was Hyndland which would be an unlikely Young Team unless they were fighting about the lack of vegan hiking boots by dogforahead (Sun 24th Jan 2021 9:26am)
  • Ah, of course. I don’t know why I didn’t see it until now! by dogforahead (Sun 24th Jan 2021 11:09am)
  • “The Steamie” was an old expression for public washouses - like, before there were laundrettes people (mostly women) would take their washing to big public buildings. It was a communal activity and apparently a hotbed of gossip; “the talk of the steamie” was all the goings on of the day. by dogforahead (Wed 27th Jan 2021 9:37am)
  • Funnily enough, a guy on Twitter that I follow posted a picture of this today too by dogforahead (Wed 27th Jan 2021 11:32pm)
  • A pal of mine works in Germany, they actually turn off their servers outside of business hours so people can’t send emails at stupid times. by dogforahead (Mon 8th Feb 2021 9:26am)
  • That’s offal by dogforahead (Sun 7th Mar 2021 10:41am)
  • I know next to nothing about football, but should they not be stripped of whatever it was that they just won? by dogforahead (Mon 8th Mar 2021 2:13pm)
  • Seems like a pretty appropriate response to me. by dogforahead (Mon 8th Mar 2021 2:16pm)
  • I feel like it’s the only thing that would actually get the fans to take responsibility for it, if not the rockets with rockets that were out last night then maybe the “silent majority” we keep hearing about would do something to stop them if it actually had some consequences that affected something they care about? by dogforahead (Mon 8th Mar 2021 2:57pm)
  • I think Rangers Football Club might have some kind of influence over the people wearing Rangers shirts and waving Rangers flags singing Rangers songs whilst celebrating a Rangers victory, yes. by dogforahead (Mon 8th Mar 2021 8:21pm)
  • Short answer: pretty much, aye. Long answer: there’s like a handful of wholesalers in Scotland who most restaurants will be buying off for sake of ease and a lot of chefs don’t really care about burgers so will just go for the standard whatever. A restaurant that takes burgers seriously will work with a butcher to get the fat/chuck/brisket balance right but it’s expensive and there’s always some shitehawk accountant with one eye on the GP trying to get you to cut costs. Rogers Butchers are the best at in in Glasgow IMO, if you see their vans outside somewhere you know they get the good stuff. by dogforahead (Thu 11th Mar 2021 11:53am)
  • Ha, I thought you meant the brewdog guy at first there by dogforahead (Sat 20th Mar 2021 9:58am)
  • Happy New Year! by dogforahead (Thu 25th Mar 2021 7:57am)
  • Can we just ban old indie guys from booking festival line ups? Oh, you saw oasis in 94? **BANNED** Got that stupid Paul Weller/Dot Cotton hairdo? **BANNED** Went to the arches once so think you know about dance music? **DOUBLE BANNED** by dogforahead (Fri 26th Mar 2021 11:15am)
  • Hey, you’re doing great work here. Absolutely fantastic and sadly necessary stuff! I’m sure you know this but I just want to clear something up for people who might not - Council Tax only makes up a small part of the council budget (around 20% I think) but it’s the only way they have of raising direct funds. Capital Grants from the government make up the bulk of council funding which have been getting steadily smaller for years meaning the reserves which they had have been mostly used. GCC have (many) problems, but the funding issue largely rests on Holyrood - this is an issue where hassling your MSP is probably more beneficial than your councillors. by dogforahead (Fri 26th Mar 2021 11:25am)
  • There are two wattbikes at Bellahouston (or were, I guess). by dogforahead (Sat 27th Mar 2021 12:26pm)
  • I’m sure there are exceptions but I’ve never met someone with it who wasn’t a _diiiiick_ by dogforahead (Sat 27th Mar 2021 2:53pm)
  • I never understand why the whole city crams into Kelvingrove when there’s so many other parks here! by dogforahead (Sat 10th Apr 2021 8:44am)
  • Council blames Holyrood, Holyrood blames Westminster, Westminster says “well you should have thought of that and not been poor” by dogforahead (Tue 27th Apr 2021 3:37pm)
  • I think North Woodside is back open, some of the Glasgow Club ones are. If not Gorbals definitely is which is a great pool. by dogforahead (Sat 1st May 2021 9:24am)
  • There’s a proposed Bill in front of the Scottish Parliament to do just that: https://www.parliament.scot/bills-and-laws/bills/proposed-bills/proposed-football-strict-liability-scotland-bill by dogforahead (Sun 16th May 2021 9:52am)
  • They should, yup. by dogforahead (Sun 16th May 2021 10:12am)
  • Yeah, that’s a good shout. Are any of the mods active on here? by dogforahead (Sun 23rd May 2021 10:30am)
  • I’d love to get a bunch of people together to block them. Non violent, just a big crowd of folk standing in the street not letting them past. by dogforahead (Fri 2nd Jul 2021 8:59pm)
  • Hey, if we can stand up to the police and the home office we can absolutely handle some drunk dads with flutes by dogforahead (Sat 3rd Jul 2021 12:07pm)
  • I don’t know man, “we can’t protest about a _literal_ hate group because they’ll turn violent if we make them angry” sure sounds like letting the hate group win to me by dogforahead (Sat 3rd Jul 2021 12:21pm)
  • 28 degrees, good luck out there people. Remember to check on your pale pals. by dogforahead (Thu 22nd Jul 2021 6:16am)
  • I live in a 4 in a block and have an outside tap so it’s definitely possible! It was here when I moved in but. by dogforahead (Mon 26th Jul 2021 4:22pm)
  • *troon does not exist* *there never was a troon* by dogforahead (Wed 28th Jul 2021 6:45am)
  • NO DONT GO THERE ITS AWFUL (Nah, it’s honestly one of my favourite places but let’s not go telling everyone about it eh? As soon as the west end maws find it games a bogie) by dogforahead (Sat 7th Aug 2021 11:16am)
  • Aye, pretty much this. They were one of the only places you could get vegan food *and* there were loads of good bands and one thing kind of fed the other. I know everyone has a vegan menu now but I cannot tell you how fucking hard it was to eat out as a vegan in the 90s, never mind in a cool place that you actually wanted to go to that wasn’t full of your maws hippy pals. I’ll always be fond of it because of that, Craig Tannock and Linda McCartney kept me alive in those days by dogforahead (Fri 13th Aug 2021 7:35pm)
  • Hey, I might know somewhere - are you bothered about it being central? by dogforahead (Tue 17th Aug 2021 4:19pm)
  • Cool, I’ll make a wee call in the morning and let you know by dogforahead (Tue 17th Aug 2021 9:27pm)
  • they must not be in the mood for dancing by dogforahead (Mon 30th Aug 2021 7:37pm)
  • Lunar Print in tradeston are really good. by dogforahead (Wed 29th Sep 2021 8:14am)
  • Seconded. Pint of Jarl in The Laurieston is one of my favourite things. Guys that run it are excellent as well. by dogforahead (Wed 29th Sep 2021 7:01pm)
  • Jarl! It’s a very lovely pale ale from Fyne Ales, The Laurieston is one of a few places that reliably have it on cask and look after it well. I highly recommend it if you’re a beer drinker! No idea what the name means, I’m sure someone here will though. by dogforahead (Thu 30th Sep 2021 11:13am)
  • I am in no way making any claims for anything other than I think it would be cool and fun. by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 9:52am)
  • I’ve got a van! I guess the wee gennys that buskers use would do it if anyone has one of those? Probably an HSS job otherwise. by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 9:55am)
  • Nah, just thought it would be a fun thing to do by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 10:01am)
  • I guess it would depend on who wants to get involved, if it’s just solo musicians then a wee amp would probably be enough? HSS have generators for about £20/day, but I’ll see what interest is like. Might just be me playing the spoons. by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 10:34am)
  • Awesome! I have no clue about whether there’s any truth to it, just stumbled on some websites and thought it was quite interesting and could be a fun thing to do. by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 10:41am)
  • Thank you! Got to do something about the glasgow winter! by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 10:49am)
  • Thank you! I’ll drop you a message once I’ve got an idea of who is involved. by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 11:58am)
  • Oh, I’d love to read that! I found some of Ludovic Mann’s nonsense about the Druidic moon temple in Clydebank which is brilliant by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 12:45pm)
  • That conference sounds amazing, I’d love to go to something like that. by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 1:31pm)
  • Hey, I’ve been putting on gigs for over a decade. Thanks for your advice though! by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 1:38pm)
  • Hey Jack! Drop me a PM and we can discuss details if you want to get involved! by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 1:36pm)
  • ITS THE POWER OF THE DRUIDS MAKING TIME GO BACKWARDS WOOOOOOOOOOO Nah, I suggested it last year but I had to take the post down because the “it’ll never work son” crowd were getting to me. I was more prepared for them this time around! by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 2:37pm)
  • Aye, I’d love to get hold of a copy. I think the Mitchell has one by dogforahead (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 8:32pm)
  • It feels like the last couple of years have just completely hollowed out everything I loved about this city. Galleries are barely open, libraries are on weird opening hours that are probably a prelude to “no one uses these, let’s shut them”, parks have a bigger police presence than an old firm match and they can’t even empty the fucking bins. I used to be proud of this city, now I can’t even imagine why. by dogforahead (Mon 25th Oct 2021 6:58am)
  • They painted over a banksy that would be worth actual millions now by dogforahead (Thu 4th Nov 2021 5:41am)
  • I’ve heard that she’s got baws and apparently yer da loves it? by dogforahead (Sat 6th Nov 2021 9:14pm)
  • There’s a book called How To Blow Up A Pipeline by Andreas Malm that suggests doing exactly this - it’s a great read if you’re interested in climate politics. Good on them. No movement has ever achieved anything without a bit of property damage. If we’d waited for politicians to sort it out then women still wouldn’t have the vote. by dogforahead (Fri 12th Nov 2021 6:52am)
  • Stonewall was a riot and Jo Cox was killed in the street so maybe? Again, both of those very obvious points are addressed in the book which I very much recommend reading. by dogforahead (Fri 12th Nov 2021 11:47am)
  • Mackinnons on the Gallowgate opens at 8 through the week, don’t know about a Sunday but by dogforahead (Sun 12th Dec 2021 7:30am)
  • Almost as if there was a reason for that, like some kind of historic campaign to try and wipe out the language or something by dogforahead (Sun 12th Dec 2021 10:58am)
  • Depends on when really, pre 900AD-ish there would have been a lot of Cumbric (gone now but more like Welsh than Gàidhlig), the Gaeltacht wouldn’t have been this far south until after that by dogforahead (Sun 12th Dec 2021 2:31pm)
  • I ran a pub that had to shut for the Fast and Furious a few years back, they basically asked us what we would have made for the days we shut and gave us that. We may have rounded that figure up a little. by dogforahead (Sat 15th Jan 2022 8:10pm)
  • they get out for a wee run around the park at night, you can hear them noising up the cows sometimes by dogforahead (Wed 9th Feb 2022 6:19am)
  • Amazing news, I used to love it in there. Can't wait to see what they've done! by dogforahead (Wed 9th Feb 2022 6:21am)
  • Try Rossdale in Pollok? If they can’t help you then they’ll know who it is you’re looking for. Good luck. I quit a couple of years back after a few false starts. The folks at /r/stopdrinking are awesome if you need support on here. by dogforahead (Thu 31st Mar 2022 8:31pm)
  • I remember when those were being fitted out and all the talk about how they were going to be these high end apartments for young professionals. Real estate is such bullshit by dogforahead (Sat 9th Apr 2022 9:23am)
  • They’ve done a ton of work putting in new drainage infrastructure so it shouldn’t flood the way it did at the cure by dogforahead (Mon 27th Jun 2022 8:17pm)
  • St Peters Seminary up by Cardross is pretty cool for that kind of thing by dogforahead (Sun 24th Jul 2022 4:39pm)
  • the Morton's roll is definitely a classic by dogforahead (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 5:34pm)
  • yeah, that's the ideal, eh? by dogforahead (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 5:32pm)
  • that's a good shout! by dogforahead (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 5:32pm)
  • I am pretty sure they released some stuff as Prides if I’m thinking of the same band. I’ll have a dig through some old drives, if you have a look at the Glasgow Podcart site they were big supporters of them around 2012ish by dogforahead (Thu 6th Oct 2022 6:36am)
