  • Gordon street is mixed use and filling it with restaurants just means it’s full of closed businesses until 12 in the afternoon when a lot of restaurants open provided they don’t open for breakfast. I reckon the councils thinking here is that they’re happy with the amount of mixed use and they’ll bide their time until a retailer comes along. Mixed use developments promote the sort of busy 24 hour high street feel that Gordon street is suited for, you can be in a shop at 8am and down the street in a restaurant til 12 at night. How busy a street is also means you can charge higher rent and make more tax so no surprise what the councils thinking is here either. by dugsaresound (Fri 21st Jun 2019 8:12pm)

  • I see about 4 of these wee guys a day, I quite like the idea of your tag just being a wee character that you throw up instead of a menchie but the fact of the matter is, this wee character is a bit shite by dugsaresound (Sun 22nd Sep 2019 6:10pm)
  • Aye fair enough I never actually thought of that, I think I’m just no a fan of the artwork but definitely not hating on it either as I do prefer it to yer bog standard tag by dugsaresound (Sun 22nd Sep 2019 7:55pm)

  • Abellio* by dugsaresound (Fri 27th Sep 2019 8:02pm)
  • My point is, there’s a lot of people that are quick to jump on the bandwagon aiming their hate towards a company that, if properly funded doesn’t need to be shite. Abellio are the ones who profit off the fares and invest them outside of Scotland instead of back into the trains. Think of it the way that if a football team is shite, the fans don’t all pile on the club for it being shite, they look at the lack of funding and who is in charge, but aye, fk u scotrail u suk bro and all that... by dugsaresound (Fri 27th Sep 2019 9:02pm)

  • None of the stations have the type of barrier that’s being included in the modernisations though. These are going to cover both sides of the platform and then the barrier will automatically slide away when a train stops at it. by dugsaresound (Fri 4th Oct 2019 12:04am)

  • Barclays don’t actually own the Beco building (the one with the fire escape graffiti) so it’s up to the owners of it if they want to cooperate, I imagine they will but it’s just not as clear cut as Barclays being able to do whatever they want. by dugsaresound (Fri 11th Oct 2019 12:40pm)
  • Have lived in Glasgow all my life and can only think of about 1 or 2 aswell. by dugsaresound (Wed 16th Oct 2019 5:19pm)
  • Kinda looks like a woodlouse though hard to tell from the video shaking about. Every flat gets them time to time. From my experience they just seem to pop up at different times of the year, absolutely harmless. Usually I’ll get rid of a few of them without actually trying very hard by just chucking them out and they’ll be gone for another 6-8 months before another one pops up. by dugsaresound (Wed 30th Oct 2019 12:59am)
  • I’d go for the bus, I pay for 47 a month for a student ticket which they’ve never checked if I’m a student or not, although I can’t advise you to do it incase they do one day check. I live across the road from a train station but prefer the bus since there’s one every 5 mins in the morning and you don’t need to change at central like with the train. Can get to the west end on the number 3 or to the city centre/town head/Glasgow fort on the 38 or silverburn which is handy for the cinema going the other way. Runs later aswell than the train. by dugsaresound (Fri 1st Nov 2019 11:16am)
  • There’s a postal website one of my pals used called Left Over Currency. I think you post the money and they send you a bank transfer. I can’t remember if he said it was any good or not but. Trustpilot gives them a 5 star rating though. by dugsaresound (Thu 7th Nov 2019 12:19pm)
  • Some of the patters excellent but it’s obvious it’s no them, just someone wae the log in that’s at the wind up haha by dugsaresound (Thu 7th Nov 2019 6:46pm)
  • You’d be looking at getting the train from Duke Street, Bellgrove or Alexander Parade up to charring cross station and just walking it. Would take you about 20 minutes and cost just under 2 pound a return, depending on the time. Alternatively you could just get the number 2 bus from duke street to Finnieston which would take a bit longer but you wouldn’t have to get off and walk as far. by dugsaresound (Wed 4th Dec 2019 10:36am)
  • There was a post I remember a while back, people looking for pals to go to techno nights, might be a good shout, I’ll link it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/glasgow/comments/bho8dv/techno_pals/ by dugsaresound (Fri 13th Dec 2019 12:25pm)
  • A few people in here arguing that paesano or other Neapolitan style pizzas are better than this New York style pizza pitch. Like arguing that tea is better than coffee. They’re no the same. If you canny seem to tell the difference between the 2 styles then maybe you shouldn’t be arguing? by dugsaresound (Fri 17th Jan 2020 12:08pm)

  • Hilarious that this is actually the correct answer and it’s getting downvoted. The world would actually be cheaper if everyone paid by cash, since you now pay a little bit extra to cover the transaction cost that visa and MasterCard charge the shop owner... but aye here people are saying fuck the dodgy shop keepers. by dugsaresound (Mon 20th Jan 2020 1:16am)
  • Say you’re a newsagents in the city centre that sells to 50 card transaction customers a day with a very conservative transaction fee of 10 pence per swipe. That’s £5 a day to use your machine. We won’t even factor in the percentage that visa sometimes put on top of that per sale. Now times that by 28 days and you’re at 140 quid a month just to use your machine and this is still being conservative. Would you say it would cost 140 quid a month in man hours to count some change up and take it to the bank once a month and then lift some change while you’re there? Say the shop owner employs someone at £10 an hour, which is a reasonable amount above minimum wage, would it take them 14 hours a month to count some change and take it to the bank? It would take less. So who pays for the 140 quid the shop owner is out of pocket? Us, the consumer. by dugsaresound (Mon 20th Jan 2020 12:48pm)

  • Don’t know about the flats you’re talking about but I’ve lived near a few busy roads and you always get used to it, even the drain outside my window that bangs as if a bomb has went off everytime a car drives over it, I’ve gotten used to. I wouldn’t even notice it unless someone pointed it out. by dugsaresound (Sun 19th Apr 2020 1:05pm)
  • Perfect Sense with Ewan McGregor is shot mostly in Glasgow, it’s a sci fi about a pandemic that starts robbing people of their senses. I think about 50% of the film is shot just in Tontine Lane in the Trongate. by dugsaresound (Sun 19th Apr 2020 1:15pm)

  • There’s a website called doxdirect I think for printing documents, has good ratings for confidentiality if it’s something private, understandable if you wouldn’t want to upload your documents to some website and have them sent out though. Also not going to be speedy as you’ve got a bank holiday tomorrow and today aswell to consider. I’m Southside though and had to resort to this. by dugsaresound (Thu 7th May 2020 3:45pm)

  • Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it, ah right I never knew that, thanks for letting me know! I’ll remove purpose built, I only had that in there to stop people from choosing Hampden, ibrox and Celtic park as they’ve all hosted rugby. I think the question should still work without purpose built in there though. Great knowledge! by dugsaresound (Fri 22nd Jan 2021 11:04pm)
  • Thanks! There’s a McDonald’s on the corner of Jamaica and argyle street and then there’s one on trongate you’re right! The answer was originally just the number “4” and I kept getting messages asking what 4 so in my haste I think I’ve put argyle street twice! Thanks for letting me know! by dugsaresound (Sat 23rd Jan 2021 12:30am)
  • Sorry but I don’t agree, I reckon you would see the uni in the original painting angle by dugsaresound (Sat 23rd Jan 2021 10:42am)
  • Thanks! I remember doing a bit of research at the time I made the quiz about this. I think with them forming in Clydebank, Marti Pellow being from there and also a few articles online saying they’re a Clydebank act, that convinced me they couldn’t be counted as Glaswegian. However I’d probably give someone half points for it since half the band I think are from Glasgow. I might add a note saying half points for them, thanks for the comment! by dugsaresound (Sat 23rd Jan 2021 11:18pm)
