  • I tried to get in to the car park near M&S, gave up after playing whacky races for 15 minutes and went and parked in IKEA. Hope y'all survived the last minute chaos by gingerninja398 (Tue 24th Dec 2019 3:14am)
  • (was in the right place at the right time, it got fixed within minutes) by gingerninja398 (Wed 12th Feb 2020 11:12am)
  • The only time I sit outdoors is when I'm taking a break during a run, and I make a point of sitting well off the path for just long enough to recover. It's possible even on those tiny canal paths to social distance by gingerninja398 (Mon 20th Apr 2020 8:34am)
  • To save you time, half the links are dead, the other half link to conspiracy theory websites and apocalypse themed crypto scams by gingerninja398 (Sat 2nd May 2020 5:38am)
  • Yeah, I witnessed teenagers on Thursday playing around in the lock near the Great Western Retail park with alcohol and jumping off the railing. Let me tell you now, as a lifeguard, alcohol and water NEVER ends well. EVER. Supervised pools are a danger, let alone undercurrent filled dirty as sin canals. by gingerninja398 (Wed 1st Jul 2020 2:19pm)
  • Meh, when you know the tragedies and the exact mechanisms of them, your threat detection gets set a lot higher. by gingerninja398 (Thu 2nd Jul 2020 2:05pm)
  • My mates had a graduation party at their house, not entirely sure within guidelines, but if they'd invited me I'd have declined. No social distancing went on there at all, there were at least 20 people and I'm 90% sure they were using a hot tub. I'm just waiting for someone to test positive and force them all into quarantine by gingerninja398 (Sun 19th Jul 2020 2:59am)
  • There's a difference between waiting for a perceived inevitability and wishing harm. I don't wish harm on them at all by gingerninja398 (Sun 19th Jul 2020 9:46pm)
  • Unfortunately as much as I dislike the idea of keeping pubs open I understand the rationale. There's active tracking going on there by law so they can contain any outbreaks as they happen. That involves cooperation however, hence my general unease by gingerninja398 (Wed 2nd Sep 2020 10:07am)
  • The problem with putting trust in the general public is that the general public are idiots by gingerninja398 (Thu 3rd Sep 2020 9:41am)
  • What on earth are people celebrating? Every night for the past few days fireworks have been going off from the direction of westerton? by gingerninja398 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 11:01am)
  • That'll be why it's guidance and not law. There are so many reasons why you'd need to cross a council boundary, but they want to make sure you actually think about what you're doing and not take the piss by gingerninja398 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 1:45pm)
  • Was in there for a big Queens badge passing out ceremony a few years ago. They got some refrigerator millionaire to hand us the certificates. I remember having to stand with everyone else lining the stairs up to that chamber to greet people and gnarling up George Square for the march by gingerninja398 (Fri 13th Nov 2020 6:53am)
  • You really think these goons were making an attempt to protest safely? Doubt they even shower let alone use hand sanitizer by gingerninja398 (Mon 30th Nov 2020 12:59am)
  • Spoke to someone on checkout. I'm posting this to raise awareness of Costcos very strict policy so people will be more emboldened to call this sort of shit out. by gingerninja398 (Sat 5th Dec 2020 6:04pm)
  • Well yeah, but he was, just not wearing it properly. Does having a medical condition mean you get to do the equivalent of wearing a condom on your balls? I don't care about the dudes life story, if you're gonna wear a mask do it properly by gingerninja398 (Sat 5th Dec 2020 6:02pm)
  • Yeah, when your business directly screws with other people's health and wellbeing, it's everyones business. I'm not going to stop calling people out for being knobs. Wear your masks you fannies by gingerninja398 (Sat 5th Dec 2020 8:31pm)
  • If neither of us are wearing trousers and you take a piss, both of us get drenched. If I'm wearing trousers and you aren't, I get a bit wet and you get drenched. If both of us are wearing trousers, you're the only one who gets drenched. Wear your mask. by gingerninja398 (Sat 5th Dec 2020 8:36pm)
  • Would you rather the Swiss cheese analogy? Masks aren't perfect. No defense method is. But they all have holes and strengths. Layering defense methods (everyone wearing masks, distancing and sanitising themselves) is the best strategy. Survival? I'm more likely than most. But long term damage? Intensive care? Hospitalisation? Id rather none of those for me or anyone. Chances of those are significantly higher than the 0.01% death rate. I like my lungs at their full capacity and my fatigue non-chronic. Wear. A. Mask. You. Fanny. Or would you rather the ICU treated you with prayer as well? by gingerninja398 (Sat 5th Dec 2020 8:56pm)
  • Been trying to counteract with shaming people into wearing their masks properly by loudly saying "mate your masks squint". Have had ~50% success rate, 25% gormless "I know mate" or "my glasses stream up" (to a glasses wearer clearly sucking it up) and another quarter aggression or petulance. That's when I genuinely lose hope of us ever getting out of this. by gingerninja398 (Sun 13th Dec 2020 2:22am)
  • Costco has a similar three strikes policy on wearing your mask properly. You either keep it on or your getting booted. Wish I'd known that when I had an eejit in my face ranting about his "medical condition" with his nose-dick out. by gingerninja398 (Sun 13th Dec 2020 2:27am)
  • Stay your course. Keep on keeping on. You not being a fanny is compensating for other people's idiocy. Every time you wear a mask you're contributing to the solution. Hold on to that. by gingerninja398 (Mon 28th Dec 2020 12:44am)
  • Looks like our bin shed, but with cardboard. The frequency of our collections is way too low to keep on top of the fire hazard by gingerninja398 (Sat 2nd Jan 2021 6:13pm)
  • Some cheeky bugger took advantage of a gym nearby being shut and it being icy to do slides and deliberate hydroplaning with their car. I could almost smell their gearbox from over the road. by gingerninja398 (Mon 4th Jan 2021 6:29pm)
  • Some kind soul gritted the entire front area in our estate, but yeah, we've only ever seen gritters right near the end of the season by gingerninja398 (Mon 4th Jan 2021 6:31pm)
  • As much as I complained about EDCs waste management when I lived there, I didn't know how good I had it. In the months leading up to Christmas our bin shed (Anniesland) was absolutely heaving. Boxes everywhere and the bins hadnt shut for a month. We've also not had food waste bins since the start of the pandemic (we had three for our block and they disappeared at one point after a collection). To be fair to them, either through someone standing over them as they did it or us just getting lucky, they took everything that was there. Ended up visiting the recycling centre for the first time ever because we were legit running out of space in the flat. by gingerninja398 (Tue 12th Jan 2021 5:30pm)

  • It's more like "this is being done under operator of last resort rules". Which means technically it's supposed to be temporary until a new tendering process is put together, but they could just... Never put the contract out to tender. by gingerninja398 (Wed 17th Mar 2021 5:28pm)
  • Please give flats back their food bins, we had ours nicked at the beginning of COVID by the refuse people and they've just never been given back. I hate having to general waste perfectly compostable food by gingerninja398 (Sat 20th Mar 2021 2:33pm)

  • Been trying to buy a flat for the last two months. Lost three places after people bid above the Home Report valuation. Don't know if that's likely to continue but save your pennies and make sure you can bid at the home report level, not the advertised price. by gingerninja398 (Mon 29th Mar 2021 12:21am)
  • Don't think this mob got drunk and destroyed memorial benches. They also had the good sense to wear masks for the most part. by gingerninja398 (Thu 13th May 2021 7:11pm)
  • It's better than nothing, and I'd probably classify this as an emergency. Not ideal, but the home office induced this situation, shouldn't have happened in the first place. by gingerninja398 (Fri 14th May 2021 1:34pm)

  • If they'd just left it at that I'd have taken my hat off to them as having a classy celebration, but the Union Bears are now planning a march to George Square after the trophy lifting tomorrow. [saw it here](https://www.facebook.com/247987625238024/posts/3983272788376137/) full of mince trying to justify it by pointing at what happened on Kenmure Street by gingerninja398 (Sat 15th May 2021 2:17am)
  • I've condemned every mass gathering equally since it became unwise to have them. Difference with Kenmure Street is who I blame for inducing it. There's a difference between pointing out perceived double standards, and pointing them out while doing the same thing you're condemning the other side for and endangering your community. Even putting all of the covid issues aside, football louts are a wave of destruction at the best of times. At least nothing got broken on Kenmure Street. by gingerninja398 (Sat 15th May 2021 2:47am)
  • It did cause a rise in cases, problem is that it's difficult to pin down to any one event because of the significant lag time for cases to show up, so everyone just shrugs their shoulders and goes "oh I guess it's fine cause bodies aren't littering the streets, let's do it again!" by gingerninja398 (Sat 15th May 2021 7:21pm)
  • That's exactly the problem. If people don't project the likely consequences of their actions into the future they'll be totally fine with denying that what they're doing is wrong or irresponsible. I'm not assured that it directly caused a spike in cases, but I do know that the risk of that happening was increased unnecessarily. The same sort of rhetoric is used to deny climate change incidentally. by gingerninja398 (Sat 15th May 2021 7:37pm)
  • As much as I think this needs to be protested about, can we please cool it with the mass gatherings for like five seconds? I really want to be able to hug my family again this side of the year. by gingerninja398 (Mon 17th May 2021 1:00am)
  • Unless you're in dire need for one, wait to be contacted I think is the prevailing thought by gingerninja398 (Tue 18th May 2021 9:02pm)
  • Is there any official source on this? I tried phoning a few days ago and was told they're only targeting the affected postcodes by gingerninja398 (Sun 23rd May 2021 9:41pm)
  • Yes, it was. And as much as I want to believe it, I'd rather hear it from an official source rather than someone off Reddit (no offence) by gingerninja398 (Sun 23rd May 2021 9:45pm)
  • Yeah that's what I'm trying to avoid, tying up the phone lines unnecessarily. I've already done that once, I'm not and I wouldn't recommend anyone do that without a concrete source that surge vaccination is happening. by gingerninja398 (Sun 23rd May 2021 9:54pm)
  • An official source has finally appeared and you can register for it without blowing up phones (if you're registered with a GP) https://register.vacs.nhs.scot/ Looks like NHS Scotland has opened the floor Scotland wide for 18-29 year olds to register. by gingerninja398 (Mon 24th May 2021 10:48am)
  • Not quite, it's for people in the age bracket who haven't already been vaccinated because they fall into those categories (medical, frontline health or social care) by gingerninja398 (Mon 24th May 2021 11:38am)
  • Well good thing this extra week will help covid fuck off for good isn't it. by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 1:30pm)
  • Not quite how case and pressure thresholds work but go off I guess by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 3:02pm)
  • Don't be a mong and give up now. Stick with it and we might actually go back to some semblance of normal this side of the year. by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 4:19pm)
  • Sweetie, the government doing something you don't like doesn't make them authoritarian. by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 4:25pm)
  • Yes. Please present your argument as to why the SNP is authoritarian and turning Scotland into a totalitarian state through *checks notes* implementing emergency health legislation and making decisions to try and contain a deadly pandemic. by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 4:30pm)
  • ....no. Can you still criticize the government without being disappeared or arrested? Do you have free and fair elections? Your freedom ends where you begin to harm or infringe on the freedoms of other people, or would you rather be able to spit, cough and punch people without consequence? by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 5:09pm)
  • You're making some good points about some failings of the government, but I'm still missing where any of that is authoritarian instead of just being missteps and general failings. I think the fact that you're a libertarian is informing your comparatively low threshold on what you consider authoritarian. There are plenty of reasons to criticize this government, but accusing them of being authoritarian when truly dictatorial regimes actually exist is a bit of a stretch. by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 5:05pm)
  • Because the English/Westminster government prioritised economy over health. Not everything is a grand conspiracy. It also wouldn't have been necessary for very long if they had taken the arguably less authoritarian step of restricting international travel both in and out like NZ and AUS have done. Regarding the "less deaths than ODs and car accidents" line, are those contagious diseases that can be spread exponentially with a single superspreader event? If not, I don't think that's the gotcha you think it is. by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 5:17pm)
  • No, but she did consult with scientific experts and local authorities. She also did go before parliament to give the government the powers to decide alert levels and specific restrictions, so I don't think your point is relevant. by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 5:59pm)
  • We're nowhere near herd immunity yet. And yes, actually I do consider health over economy to be justified, and would choose that every time. Your point on banning cars is kind of missing a nuance, it's more like preventing you from driving without a licence or a seatbelt. NZ chose correctly and they're essentially covid free and back to normal internally, unless theres a confirmed case, then they do short sharp lockdowns and aggressive tracing to contain it. You're right that covid is unlikely to disappear, but things like measles, whooping cough and polio are pretty non-existant thanks to vaccinations and public health programs, I'd like to thing we can manage that with covid-19. by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 6:09pm)
  • You're right, I'll just say cunt instead (I'm being entirely serious, I didn't know that was the root of mong, apologies) by gingerninja398 (Fri 28th May 2021 7:33pm)
  • [What, like they already do?](https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-modelling-epidemic-issue-no-53/) That's one example of the ream of information scotgov is publishing that leads them into making these decisions. You might be thinking of Westminster when you're thinking about lack of transparency. Regarding the herd immunity level needed for Covid? [We've no idea](https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/herd-immunity-lockdowns-and-covid-19) because it's a novel virus, so we can only make guesses. by gingerninja398 (Sat 29th May 2021 12:11pm)
