  • Looking via a letting agency (Clyde, Vanilla Square, Slater Hogg etc) will not bring you much success. As both a landlord myself and a property manager it’s pretty much written into their t&c’s - a landlord would literally need to point out that they want to allow pets. You could use Gumtree & there’s an app called Nextdoor (a neighbourhood community forum). I would advertise yourself and what your looking for rather than try to find a place. If your able to provide references & assurances that your dog won’t be barking all the time or chewing through walls etc (like my own labradoodle has 🙈) Good luck !! by lillibette (Mon 10th Feb 2020 2:24pm)
  • Tried (and failed) for ages to make sense of this & what they may have been attempting to say - but nah - just a shitty attempt at tagging by some uneducated youth - no doubt picked up snippets of vile conversation at home & in their pickled brain cell thought it clever- F@nnys ! The Rail logo is baffling tho ! by lillibette (Wed 12th Feb 2020 8:50am)
  • Head to the west end instead of city centre- Ashton Lane has a fab mix of pubs - great atmosphere & mix of people - never any trouble either. & Sanctuary or Oran Mor have nightclubs open til 3am ish if you fancy a late one. by lillibette (Wed 26th Feb 2020 11:01pm)
  • Also Finnieston is developing into a food lovers paradise with many new restaurants offering a diverse range of cuisines. Pubs along that bit of Dumbarton RD / Argyll st are really decent & without trouble. Have an amazing time - put in the mood for a nite out myself now! by lillibette (Thu 27th Feb 2020 12:59am)
  • Had to reply to your post- please grab the opportunity- Glasgow is a diverse & welcoming city. It has its bad areas & unsavoury people- but if you’re at Glasgow Uni (west end where Iv lived all my life) you will be mixing with people of all ages, cultures, orientations etc. There are hundreds of overseas students & plenty of clubs, societies etc to enrol in. My English neighbour is a lecturer there & struggled with the Glaswegian accent but we are a friendly lot & you’ll soon be joining in with the banter. My eldest studied in nearby Edinburgh & he had to try keep up with their accent - you’ll be fine & welcomes ti our beautiful city ! Well done & good luck !! by lillibette (Tue 3rd Mar 2020 7:43am)
  • Brel in Ashton lane - has separate rooms/food & great outdoor space (bbqs if weather ok) Hosted couple friends parties there. • Yes - this exactly - Partick, Kelvinhall there are loads of Chinese students using the many eateries already with ones opening up constantly - the food smells amazing & the ones I’ve tried (Dumpling Monkey) wow ! Delish! Also little mini mart & tea shops all oriental themed - fresh ingredients & stuff you can’t get in big supermarkets- If you love that type of food head to that part of the West End - you won’t be disappointed by lillibette (Wed 11th Mar 2020 1:28pm)
  • Is it also Chinese? Or is it eighty eight/eighty - where they’ve now put their kitchen in the shop window meaning you can have watch the chefs prep & create - also need to give a try ! by lillibette (Wed 11th Mar 2020 5:55pm)

  • It would be amazing to have your help L by lillibette (Wed 22nd Apr 2020 9:29pm)
  • You can help by spreading the word about need for donors right now. People don’t realise centres are open, that they are allowed to leave home to donate & that they will be safe in doing so. Plus a free cup of tea & a biscuit & a chat with people outwith your household that will be delighted to see you is an added bonus ! by lillibette (Wed 22nd Apr 2020 9:27pm)
  • While aiming to retain 6 days worth of each blood type per week is the goal at scotblood - every blood type constantly needs topped up. Currently the most popular types are only just reaching this - without donations (due to people thinking blood donations aren’t needed/ donor centres closed etc during the covid crisis) shortages could ensue. by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 3:16am)
  • Please make an extra special effort to give blood over the coming days, weeks and months. If you are fit and well and have not been impacted by COVID-19, it's important you come forward to donate. Am I eligible to donate? As always, our usual donor eligibility criteria apply. See Can I give blood? for more information. However, there are also a number of new criteria in place with regards to COVID-19. Currently, you must not donate if you fall into one of the following categories: You are aged 70 or over You have COVID-19 You are in self-isolation with symptoms of possible COVID-19 You are well but are in self-isolation because other household members have symptoms of possible COVID-19 If you have shown symptoms of COVID-19, you must not donate until at least 14 days after final symptoms have ceased. If you were self-isolating because other household members were sick, but you remained symptom free yourself, you must not donate until 14 days after your first day of self-isolation. by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 7:22am)
  • At the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, we take great care to minimise any risk of harm to donors or patients. This is why we place a number of restrictions on who can donate at any given time – and why these constraints can and do change over time. Current situation Giving blood is classed as an essential activity. However, we ask you to please come alone. Non-donating relatives, companions or children are breaching non-essential travel restrictions. If you have an appointment, please try to come no earlier than five minutes beforehand. This helps reduce queues. Please do not come to give blood if you are aged 70 or over. We are open, but our sessions are subject to change. We will get in touch if there are changes to your session, but please check scotblood.co.uk before coming to donate. by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 7:22am)
  • It will get you out the house & ul get a wee gossip with folk outwith your household a wee change a scenery & being a donor can boost your mental health esp at this time when we are all strung out. Also have a look on www.scotblood.co.uk for hints & tips to prep for donation. Dehydration can cause headaches (appreciate migraine is another level but hydration etc could help) by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 7:46am)
  • You will know first hand just how essential it is to have donors. I wish your partner well & you also. It’s difficult when someone you love is ill & you feel helpless etc but you are doing amazing by donating - helping others be healthy -stay safe bless you L 💝 by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 7:51am)
  • Thankyou - from everyone - your effort & donation are appreciated - Pity that you took symptoms - I hope you are feeling better and wish you well L by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 7:57am)
  • You will be made very welcome and honestly Thankyou so very much - you will be giving others a gift money cannot buy and you should be bursting with pride afterwards. Let us know how you get on - L 💕 by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 10:39am)
  • Brilliant - thanks for explaining what I couldn’t quite do having been only a recipient. Thankyou L by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 10:36am)
  • Currently with the Covid situation only the donor may attend. There is no way around this yet - perhaps as time goes on and probable restrictions set to remain- there may be options. Thankyou for considering and should I get any further info I will let you know- stay safe with the wee one - L 💖 by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 3:36pm)
  • If what is true ? That donors are needed? Currently most blood types are sitting on 6+ day supply - 6 days is a comfortable amount. Due to lockdown however there is massive potential for this to drastically fall as people are not aware that you can still donate, centres are open and donations are very much needed at all times but more so now (for reason I explained) If you check the website there is a wealth of information outwith my limited knowledge. As only ever a recipient and not been well enough to donate I don’t know how their system works (emailing previous donors etc) or that they have the staff to run any said system. You will see adverts on tv & hear on radio requests for you to do something amazing and donate blood. Thankyou if you have donated and I kindly ask if you are able and well - to donate again & share with anyone you can that blood donations will always be needed. Stay safe L by lillibette (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 5:43pm)
  • The Square Crow Road @ Broomhill in west end by lillibette (Fri 1st May 2020 12:54pm)
  • Iv twice bumped into an older gentleman in past 4 weeks - on his way home from a ‘speakeasy’ at his usual that he has been attending with his lonely pals (so he says as he’s half skooshed) since lockdown. He’s loudly whispered this to me both times as iv walked in west end - he has come from Byres RD / woodlands/ city centre direction. I haven’t stopped long enough to quiz him on where it is nor do I really want the info as I’d be torn on wether to report it or not. I have the joy (???) of a family at home and he has no one nor do his mates. So just how many are there of these illegally open to regulars ?? 🤔 by lillibette (Fri 15th May 2020 1:23pm)
  • My mum does this - her dogs not her own 🤔 by lillibette (Wed 27th May 2020 2:34pm)
  • Glass bins at ours (Hyndland) get emptied on a Sunday morning between 7:15 & 8am - yes - a SUNDAY MORN FROM 7:15am!! Lockdown didn’t cause decreased service here only increase in wine bottle volume- littered all around the bins Cos these west end wino’s by lillibette (Thu 16th Jul 2020 9:53am)
  • Yes it is - I look onto this from my humble abode by lillibette (Wed 23rd Sep 2020 10:40pm)
  • My neighbours 17yo son had the misfortune of being duped by the same outfit post lockdown. I’d to drive to get him from a job as he had locals sick of them cold calling. Used and sent out to scare folk into signing up (he’s a good 6ft 7 rugby playing hulk of a lad ) by lillibette (Mon 28th Sep 2020 2:20pm)
  • Iv bn checking ways to get them shut down but it’s near impossible- setting up & rebranding is done so easily & often by numerous ‘businesses’ - Folk are also desperate for £ right now- the lad I know had another fella out with him with a family of 3 & wife to support having lost his job in a bank. It’s such a shame for some people & this Matt guy taking advantage of redundant people ud do anything to pay ur bills & feed ur kids, by lillibette (Mon 28th Sep 2020 3:32pm)
  • Still at St Enoch Sq as recently as jul/aug 2020 this yr. by lillibette (Mon 28th Sep 2020 3:46pm)
  • In a two way traffic jam yest- Another driver coughed his guts up out his window next to my open window! Was driving to avoid public transport to town for Xmas shopping- gets to Buchanan St where there was an apparent coughing pandemic & those people that shamelessly blow snot out on the pavement- nowhere is safe from these selfish - idiotic - halfwits. Hate myself for believing most folk are following the advice/rules - nope ! L by lillibette (Tue 17th Nov 2020 7:14pm)
  • Fantastic ! Browsing through individual shops wares, pressing the back button is bringing me straight back to the site homepage 🤔 and losing where I was . I not too great with online shopping so may be my issue but thought I’d bring to ur attention - love that iv found so many shops I love & getting a start on Xmas shopping which is a first for me in November! by lillibette (Tue 24th Nov 2020 10:30am)
  • Wonder if they’re selling yet? If you happen to pass before I can drive over that way this week will you post please? Like most - thinking the Xmas deccys up will speed up 2020 passing lol by lillibette (Tue 24th Nov 2020 10:46am)

  • Ha - roll back down strapped on to the tree - that actually sounds awesome! by lillibette (Tue 24th Nov 2020 12:39pm)
  • Great! Wondering how a real tree will fare coming home so early with central heating etc ?Usually I’d get one around the 12th & it would be shedding before Hogmanay which is fine but itching to bring some Xmas cheer to the house & obviously got to irritate those people (me normally) that can’t be doing with Xmas this early ! by lillibette (Tue 24th Nov 2020 12:43pm)
  • Gotta be getting your fitness on in any innovative way possible these days ! by lillibette (Tue 24th Nov 2020 12:46pm)
  • Iv never even noticed the tennis club selling trees - must wander along later on. I reckon Costco will have monopoly on that car park & for the sake of our small businesses rather give them a miss. Kinda thinking of buying local as much as possible this year. Someone created a site loaded with small local businesses on here & Next Door- www.small99.co.uk It’s - fantastic I’m just repeating it as much as I can to help. Went off on a tangent there but thanx ! by lillibette (Tue 24th Nov 2020 12:53pm)
  • Yes - it was those lads - they carried tree up to my house , cut to fit height & helped to position it. Brilliant service so good to know if they can’t squeeze in at the Fox that cricket club is there. by lillibette (Tue 24th Nov 2020 6:11pm)
