This is just one photo, but there's a ton more of this shit out in ours (more furniture, household white goods/appliances, and god knows what else) . I live on the second floor, and when I look out my back window across the entire block, it seems like EVERYONES back yards are a literal dump just like this. Why did the council stop doing bulk uplifts? Tenants are just dumping all their household shit en masse just to stay out there permanently. Place looks like such an eyesore. It's an absolute joke. True, it is their fault ultimately. But also, I was talking to our neighbour the other day about it and what we can do and he's pissed off as well. I'm relatively new to the area (moved up from London at the end of last year, so not entirely sure still how it works up here), but he was telling me the council used to pick this stuff up all the time and they just stopped doing it a while back? It's both really. The Council really doesn't make it clear for residents month in-month out on what their services actually are/when they've changed, etc. There sure are a lot of lazy people out there that just love to fly-tip... no doubt about that, but there's also a lot of people out there that seem to be completely unaware or genuinely confused about changes to council services. The council, are awful at collecting normal rubbish (especially for our area anyway), and then not only that, but they take away weekly pick ups of bulk stuff... and seemingly don't notify people about it....which adds to this exact problem because people in the flats simply aren't aware of it. The garbage then just piles up. Ultimately, it's everyones responsibility to tidy up their own mess... but the council you sometimes have to rely on, and which you pay for, doesn't make that much easier for you. by mikeybhoy_1985 (Mon 29th Mar 2021 4:28pm)

That's because they're part of the John Lewis Partnership. I can tell you from experience working for them (not Waitrose) that the whole "partners" co-op thing they pride themselves on is pretty much baloney. You get paid terrible wages, and you get very little in the way of a "share" in the profits. Their bonuses were honestly just insulting more than anything whilst I was there (we were lucky if we even got one some years). We really need to blow the lid of JL... I know many of the employees I worked with at the time shared the same sentiments, like they were being lied to and conned, unappreciated, exhausted and underpaid for the incredibly hard work they do. I will say this, John Lewis/Waitrose has a very good propaganda outlet which makes their biggest demographic, predominantly middle class shoppers believe they are a very reputable company to work for. I was pretty much bald by my mid-late 20's... Just ended up giving in and shaving it all off. Hated it at first (as I'd never seen my head). But as time goes on you just get used to it. I did think about looking into doing this myself, but it just seemed like a lot of hassle, expensive, apparently it really hurts, and to my knowledge - I could be wrong though - can leave a lot of scarring (which if it goes wrong and doesn't take, I would rather not have visible).
