  • I would recommend Direct Flooring. The guys in the store are really helpful and they offer a fitting service too, which we didn't use. May be worth getting a separate quote for fitting? On a side note, a joiner once told me that 8mm laminate is suitable for high traffic areas, although you probably wouldn't want to go any thinner than that, even in less used areas. by nicknacknoo (Fri 21st Aug 2020 11:22am)
  • Viva on Bothwell Street does amazing food as does Ibérica on St Vincent Street (which has great toilets!). No idea whether either are currently open though. by nicknacknoo (Tue 25th Aug 2020 9:48pm)
  • Love these! Sad that the crane is discontinued though. by nicknacknoo (Tue 1st Sep 2020 4:06pm)
  • Amazing drawing. Do you sell your work or prints of it? by nicknacknoo (Thu 17th Sep 2020 10:12am)
  • I've recently discovered Gleddoch family butchers in Paisley, and found their stuff to be pretty decent. You can order online and they offer free delivery. by nicknacknoo (Sat 26th Sep 2020 12:10pm)

  • Parkhouse, Whitacres, Southpark Village are all nice estates. Mostly well looked after properties and friendly people. Darnley itself, not so much. by nicknacknoo (Tue 9th Feb 2021 9:24am)
  • Stunning! by nicknacknoo (Wed 3rd Mar 2021 4:24pm)
  • That is shocking! I'm relatively new to Glasgow and am disgusted by how filthy the city centre is. Also, there are so many beautiful green spaces that are in the same state as this. People just don't seem to give a shit about their environment and assume that there will be decent folk like yourself who will come along and clean up after them. The council needs to monitor the worst areas and issue fines for littering. by nicknacknoo (Thu 11th Mar 2021 4:02pm)
  • Thanks for the info! by nicknacknoo (Tue 23rd Mar 2021 9:41am)
  • Jeezo, is it 2021 or 2001? by nicknacknoo (Fri 26th Mar 2021 4:26pm)
  • Ayrshire Farmers Market will be in Paisley this Saturday. Haven't sampled any of the seafood or meat yet although it does look good, but can recommend Pure Roasters coffee. by nicknacknoo (Thu 8th Apr 2021 11:34pm)
  • I'm actually looking to get rid of one that is about to go on gumtree. It's brand new, fairly basic but has some scratches on the digital display, which don't affect the performance at all, they're just cosmetic. Give me a shout if you're interested. by nicknacknoo (Thu 8th Apr 2021 11:41pm)
  • Safestore are pretty reasonable. Think they are offering 50% off first 12 weeks just now too. by nicknacknoo (Tue 13th Apr 2021 4:02pm)
  • I got a sofa recently from Homebase online - reasonably priced compared to some I've seen and relatively comfy for an afternoon lounging in the sun! by nicknacknoo (Thu 15th Apr 2021 1:18am)
  • I had an issue with neighbours some years back who would blast loud music in short bursts on a regular basis, which was more annoying than if they played it constantly! Went to speak to them, they wouldn't answer the door but turned it off when I got there and back on again as soon as I went back downstairs. Had the police out, made complaints to the housing association and nothing changed. One morning (after being woken up twice through the night with their music) I'd had enough, so at around 7am I put my stereo in the living room on full blast and my bedroom radio (at the opposite end of the flat) on full blast on a different radio station then left for work for 11 hours. That night, the silence from their flat was amazing! Next night they were back to their usual tricks, so did the same thing 2 days running, and had no more issues with them. by nicknacknoo (Sun 9th May 2021 4:49pm)
  • There were only 2 (4 in a block flat) and they were out at work all day too. They were just happy it worked! by nicknacknoo (Sun 9th May 2021 7:04pm)
  • £8 for a 4 bed house every four weeks. A one-off clean is always going to be ridiculously expensive to encourage you to pay for a regular service. by nicknacknoo (Sun 9th May 2021 7:09pm)
  • Yup. I didn't want to lower myself to their level but it's the only language some folk understand! by nicknacknoo (Sun 9th May 2021 7:05pm)
  • Cheers! I'll check them out. by nicknacknoo (Mon 5th Jul 2021 4:44pm)
  • Yeah I thought that might be the case... I've been talking about getting this cover up for about 10 years, so waiting won't be too much of an issue! by nicknacknoo (Mon 5th Jul 2021 7:06pm)
  • Cheers! I'll check them out. by nicknacknoo (Mon 5th Jul 2021 9:25pm)
  • Cheers! I'll have a wee look by nicknacknoo (Tue 6th Jul 2021 6:37pm)
  • McLays Foods do a fruit and veg hamper plus you can buy individual items too. I used them a lot last year during lockdown for the fruit and veg as well as meat hampers and the quality was really good: https://www.mclaysfoods.co.uk/index.php/product/fruit-vegetable-pack/ I've also used Del's Fresh Produce. Again, the quality was good. Only issue was that some items were substituted which we weren't aware of until the box was delivered, so you could end up with a large quantity of something you don't like! by nicknacknoo (Thu 22nd Jul 2021 11:48pm)
  • Hey! Just saw your post. I'm mid 40s female, also in the Southside. Feel free to message me for a chat! by nicknacknoo (Tue 27th Jul 2021 10:30pm)
  • The Ardnamurchan on Hope Street are doing a 3 course meal for £19.95. They also seem to have good Covid measures in place with large screens between tables. by nicknacknoo (Thu 5th Aug 2021 5:26pm)
  • Cafe Avanti in Partick do a huge plateful pretty cheaply (or did pre Covid) which was decent. Can't beat homemade though. by nicknacknoo (Thu 5th Aug 2021 5:30pm)
  • Check out Buskers of Glasgow on fb / insta. They have a website too. by nicknacknoo (Tue 10th Aug 2021 12:36pm)
  • Might set up on my own... with Craft in the name I can charge triple the price by nicknacknoo (Tue 31st Aug 2021 2:17pm)
  • I remember visiting here on a school trip in the 80s - loved it! Now lived in Glasgow for 2 years and not been back - looking unlikely I'll get the chance. So sad. GCC don't seem to give a toss about conserving anything. by nicknacknoo (Fri 8th Oct 2021 4:03pm)
  • You could try Clockwise on Renfrew Street or Spaces at Charing Cross. No idea of rates though, sorry. by nicknacknoo (Mon 18th Oct 2021 4:41pm)
  • I enjoyed the lights in George Square last year far more without the cramped tacky Christmas market. by nicknacknoo (Tue 19th Oct 2021 7:20pm)
  • It looks very clean, well cared for and has a flea collar, so probably just out exploring rather than lost. by nicknacknoo (Wed 20th Oct 2021 10:00am)
  • Same thing happened to us. We had been paying monthly by direct debit for several months, including arrears, as the house was uninhabitable for 2 months when we first took ownership. Then one Friday the sheriff officers turned up at the door. I was fuming, made worse by the fact they wouldn't speak to me as they had my partner's name so said they would come back! My partner called GCC on the Monday and it took ages before they would admit they had made a mistake - no apology of course. Good luck getting a resolution - prepare for it to be a lengthy process! by nicknacknoo (Thu 21st Oct 2021 2:30pm)
  • It's appalling that so many historic buildings are allowed to be purchased and then left to rot, until they either fall down, have to be demolished for safety reasons or mysteriously catch fire. It should be law that potential new owners submit a costed plan of how they intend to restore, maintain and use the building. If works are not completed in x amount of months / years, then the council takes ownership, has the work completed and the owners have to stump up the cost. by nicknacknoo (Fri 22nd Oct 2021 2:34pm)
  • They are truly incompetent. Sent sheriff officers to my door for non payment of council tax despite having been paying it via direct debit since moving in! by nicknacknoo (Fri 19th Nov 2021 12:47am)
  • The food at Viva on Bothwell St is lovely and it offers private dining as well. by nicknacknoo (Mon 6th Dec 2021 8:42pm)

  • The Bank in Muirend by nicknacknoo (Fri 31st Dec 2021 12:52pm)
  • I wouldn't use My Builder - ever up with some right dodgy tradespeople from there, some without valid insurance, which turned out to be an absolute nightmare. Doesn't seem to be very well regulated. Search for a handyman in your area. There are loads around. by nicknacknoo (Thu 17th Feb 2022 8:04pm)
  • Safestore. They were able to accommodate us last minute on a Saturday afternoon when we weren't able to move into our house as planned and one of the guys stayed on a bit later for us. Good rates and decent company. by nicknacknoo (Thu 24th Feb 2022 11:04am)

  • Pure Roasters. You can buy beans or ground to your specification depending on how you're making your coffee. Different strength options too, Bolt being my current choice. by nicknacknoo (Wed 30th Mar 2022 2:29pm)
  • Steak & Cherry on Sauchiehall Street do some nice cocktails (and food) and usually have deals on. 4 cocktails for £20 last time I was in. by nicknacknoo (Thu 31st Mar 2022 8:54pm)
  • La Lanterna on Hope Street. Fab food and lovely setting. by nicknacknoo (Wed 10th Aug 2022 6:23pm)
