  • I was planning to apply to Code Clan in the near future. Can you tell me more about your opinion of the place? It's quite a chunk of money so I wanna hear the honest opinions before I decide to do that. by ruminmytummy (Sun 7th Jun 2020 1:38am)
  • I just commented to ask for more info on the bad experience at CC because I'm planning to apply there soon. Good to hear both sides of the story. How was your experience finding a job after the course? by ruminmytummy (Sun 7th Jun 2020 1:40am)
  • That's interesting. Your experience really does sound awful. Even putting the money aside, that sounds stressful and demotivating. Thanks for sharing. It's always good to hear different sides of the story. by ruminmytummy (Sun 7th Jun 2020 1:51am)
  • My method of protecting myself in the city centre has always been to walk on the bigger roads and avoid the smaller streets if you're alone. Walk on the road side of the pavement when passing by alleyways, and I would often keep my keys in my pocket or hand. If you stick the key out from between your fingers and grasp the plastic fob part and make a fist, it's gonna hurt a lot if you start punching. by ruminmytummy (Fri 26th Jun 2020 1:25pm)
  • That was great. Really enjoyed your style. by ruminmytummy (Sat 27th Jun 2020 1:20pm)
  • I definitely think it should be mandatory. I'm from Glasgow but I live in China, where mask wearing was mandatory for most of this year. Its not anymore and life is completely back to normal for me. It has been back to normal for a while now. I am fully convinced that the masks are the main reason China was able to take control over the virus spread so quickly. I mean, they had some other procedures in place that played a massive part in that too (like the track and trace QR codes, and enforced quarantine) but the masks were vital. My parents wear a mask every time they leave the house in Glasgow. I do wonder if I wasn't in China and sharing my experiences with them if they would still wear the mask. I think there's a strange attitude towards the masks that make people feel like they don't want to wear it. by ruminmytummy (Tue 30th Jun 2020 10:35pm)
  • 'Babs on West Nile Street. It's a Mediterranean place with really nice decor. I've thought about their lamb iskender plate almost everyday since I tried it. So delicious. by ruminmytummy (Tue 25th Aug 2020 8:47pm)
  • Before the hour?! I'm with you on this one. I definitely interpret it to be after the hour. Probably anything up to about ten past. by ruminmytummy (Fri 25th Sep 2020 2:06pm)
  • Maybe you'd enjoy GeoGuessr. It's a game that drops you into Google Street View at a random location, and you need to try and pin where you are on the map as accurately as possible. It can be a lot of fun. by ruminmytummy (Wed 4th Nov 2020 4:58am)
  • The one I find irritating is Americans always say “question.” before they ask the question. Like in the title here. I don’t know why it bugs me. Sorry, OP! by ruminmytummy (Wed 14th Apr 2021 1:46pm)
  • The ghost tours are amazing. I didn’t think I’d be spooked by it but I was actually really scared. by ruminmytummy (Mon 26th Apr 2021 12:29am)
  • Just downloaded it and had a mess around. That’ll be really useful. Thanks for the tip. by ruminmytummy (Sun 2nd May 2021 10:01am)
  • Excellent shout. Thanks for that. by ruminmytummy (Sun 2nd May 2021 10:05am)
  • Yeah, I’ve got Uber but from what I can tell they don’t often have too many available in the Drumchapel area. I’ll only be staying there for the first couple of weeks with my parents until my own place is ready, so should be more useful after that. Thanks for the recommendation! by ruminmytummy (Sun 2nd May 2021 10:05am)
  • Oh yeah, I’ve just installed the NHS app now. I’m moving back from China so I’ll be hotel quarantining before I can fully enter Scotland. Song kick sounds amazing. Cheers for that! by ruminmytummy (Sun 2nd May 2021 11:20am)
  • Plenty of people were able to suggest apps that they use regularly that I have downloaded. Where is the harm in asking for some suggestions or advice? by ruminmytummy (Mon 3rd May 2021 12:46am)
  • Yeah that moment when he put his hands together I started bawling to be honest. I feel so proud of our city. by ruminmytummy (Fri 14th May 2021 1:11am)
  • Rental market is the same right now. I’m currently trying to find a place to rent since I’m moving back to Glasgow in two weeks and honestly I can barely even get a word in. I’ve had endless email replies that just say “viewings are fully booked”. I even upped my budget and I’m now looking at £900+ per month and finding the exact same problem for flats that aren’t even worth that much. Not sure what I’m gonna do now, my flight date is approaching fast and I’m not getting anywhere. by ruminmytummy (Tue 18th May 2021 7:23am)
  • I’ve been going through the Right Move app every day and emailing about anything that is available. I think the issue is because I’m still in China I can’t phone, need to email. By the time they pick up my email there’s 20 others who have phoned and booked a viewing. I’m gonna have a bash at finding a private landlord (not exactly sure how to go about that though. Gumtree maybe?) and if not I think I’ll get an air bnb for my ten days isolation time and use that time to phone as many letting agents as possible and send a mate to view it like you did. by ruminmytummy (Tue 18th May 2021 9:20am)
  • How did you go about finding landlords to rent from directly? I’m looking for exactly that right now but I don’t know where to start. by ruminmytummy (Tue 18th May 2021 9:30am)
  • Yeah, I’ve been looking on open rent a lot but have had little luck so far with getting replies from people. I think your advice about being patient is the bit I need to take on board the most haha. by ruminmytummy (Tue 18th May 2021 10:02am)
  • Great. Thanks so much for your advice. by ruminmytummy (Tue 18th May 2021 10:01am)
  • Yeah, I would also prefer an agency but I’m just having an absolute nightmare getting anywhere with them. The market is crazy competitive. I haven’t been able to get any further than “the viewings are fully booked, sorry”. I’ve even tried just skipping the viewing and trying to apply directly and they won’t accept the application until after the group viewing. by ruminmytummy (Tue 18th May 2021 10:35am)
  • Yeah I was in the little Chinese supermarket on Hope Street and they have an electric hotpot with two sides for £42 plus all the broths, ingredients and dipping sauces etc. I’m gonna go buy that today and then I can go back to eating it 3 times a week like I used to do in China 😂 by ruminmytummy (Sun 8th Aug 2021 12:48pm)
  • Oh they have, but the contracts are signed and sealed basically so west won’t get a look in. West being so close is probably some of the reason they brought on the rule about not being able to leave I reckon. by ruminmytummy (Fri 10th Sep 2021 4:29am)
  • I chose the location of my flat based on not needing to rely on first bus. Close enough distance to most of the places I need to be to walk or cycle, and if not I’m close enough to a train station. First bus we’re the reason for most of my fury for too many years! by ruminmytummy (Mon 4th Oct 2021 7:34pm)
  • West Brewery have their own AF lager, ale and wheat beer. The lager and wheat beer on draft as well so you can get a pint. by ruminmytummy (Mon 3rd Jan 2022 9:20pm)
  • Hotpot place in the casino? Which casino? Can I eat there if I’m not gambling? by ruminmytummy (Mon 10th Jan 2022 12:30am)
  • Paid £450 for a Dog Taxi from London to Glasgow for my dog last summer. We were bringing her back to Glasgow from abroad. She had to fly to London and we had to go directly to isolation in Glasgow, so we couldn’t take her by train or anything. Extortionate taxi was the only option. by ruminmytummy (Tue 25th Jan 2022 6:57pm)
  • I was born and raised in Drumchapel, my parents still live there. I haven’t heard of cars being smashed or anything like that happening for a really long time now. It’s so different to how it used to be. When I was a kid we used to regularly see fights in the street and crazy stuff happening every weekend. Now you look out on to the same street and see people tending their gardens and walking their dogs. by ruminmytummy (Wed 26th Jan 2022 6:56pm)
  • Did you chase it up at any point? I applied on 18th of January and haven’t heard anything. I’m thinking I should phone or email or something. by ruminmytummy (Sat 19th Feb 2022 10:49pm)
  • Was hoping for some Chinese recommendations here. I love Jays grill bar for hotpot, does anyone know of any others? Any Chinese barbecue places in the city? by ruminmytummy (Sat 11th Jun 2022 1:18pm)
  • Nah I don’t think it was about getting older, it definitely turned more and more sinister each year. by ruminmytummy (Mon 4th Jul 2022 6:12pm)
  • The glasses fall off when he bends down, I think they’re just balancing on his nose and don’t have any legs attached on to them. by ruminmytummy (Sat 13th Aug 2022 12:18pm)
  • I’m sure in the tiktok comments someone (might have been the girl in the video) said that when he first came to the door pretending to be an Amazon delivery driver he wasn’t acting that way. I thought it sounded like he came back and started putting on the act. by ruminmytummy (Sat 13th Aug 2022 12:17pm)
  • Yep she just posted another couple of videos. The guy (or possibly a different guy, voice sounds different) has come back to her door and asked to see her with her top off and telling her she looks good. She has also said the candle was actually a glass of hers that she had left on her veranda. She posted another video saying she suspects her ex is sending these people to scare her and that she thinks he is watching her or listening in on her in some way. by ruminmytummy (Sat 13th Aug 2022 8:21pm)
  • Ice cream van where I grew up defo still sells drugs. There’s a couple of different cars that drive up after someone has bought whatever they are buying at the ice cream van and they have a little small talk at the window then drive off again. I assume they circle around close by and get a one ringer when someone buys, meaning nothing is kept in the van? by ruminmytummy (Mon 21st Nov 2022 1:13am)
  • Mikaku is 10/10 and really well priced! by ruminmytummy (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 12:13pm)
  • Oh really? That’s such a shame. I was there just two weeks ago and had a great experience again but maybe I was just lucky then. Is it the food quality that has gone down for you or something else? by ruminmytummy (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 8:07am)
  • I used them for one day to send 6 parcels from my small business and 3 of the 6 had issues so I never used them again. This was last October and one of them still just says “we’ll have an update for you in 24 hours” and I still can’t ever get through to anyone. I just gave up trying in the end. One of the others was “delivered to a safe place” which was the recycling bin, but my customer wasn’t notified of that and when we found out 2 days later the bin men had already been and emptied the bin. by ruminmytummy (Thu 24th Nov 2022 6:08pm)
  • Im also a girl who is slightly nervous at the gym and I joined JD at crown retail park and didn’t like it. I changed to the Gorbals Glasgow Club, it’s just a couple minutes up the road and I really like it there. by ruminmytummy (Mon 27th Feb 2023 10:50pm)
  • The Gorbals Vampire is a cool story by ruminmytummy (Sat 4th Mar 2023 7:55am)
  • Round in Oatlands everyone has sausage dogs by ruminmytummy (Fri 14th Apr 2023 8:34am)
  • My question is how can I get a council house when I’m awarded 0 points from every housing association? I guess the answer is that I can’t? I’m in a private let but the rent is extortionate. I look every day for cheaper private let’s but they are all even more expensive than mine now. I can’t afford to stay here but because I have somewhere to live and don’t have any kids I get awarded 0 points/no housing needed status. by ruminmytummy (Mon 3rd Jul 2023 6:10am)
  • Yeah I totally agree with your last paragraph there. I’ve never considered applying for social housing before as like you say, the system was never designed for people like myself. But the cost of living and all that stuff, recently I’m struggling more than I ever have so started looking into it as an option. But I think it’s fair to say it’s not an option for me. by ruminmytummy (Mon 3rd Jul 2023 1:26pm)
  • I think this is the way. Thanks so much for the info! Appreciate it by ruminmytummy (Mon 3rd Jul 2023 1:31pm)
  • One of them did actually show up at my door once and I opened it because I was waiting for Amazon, and the guy was genuinely so nervous his voice was shaking. Think he wasn’t used to anyone actually opening their doors and he panicked and didn’t really ask me anything, just started reading some script. He told me he would leave the information to set up a direct debit and I just said aye cool thanks and then about 2 months later I just got another one of these same letters as if that never happened. by ruminmytummy (Sun 6th Aug 2023 11:11am)
  • I’ve never seen a mouse in any of the flats and houses I’ve lived in by ruminmytummy (Wed 9th Aug 2023 2:31pm)
  • Had it just over 4 weeks ago now and I was absolutely floored for about 8 days. Tested negative on the 10th or 11th day but still coughing and getting tired really easily now. Hope you get better soon but my advice would be to try and forget about the concerns with your work as best you can and just take the rest because it is 100% needed. Easier said than done, I know. But if you can rest up and sleep it off you’ll be better for it! by ruminmytummy (Fri 15th Sep 2023 4:37pm)
  • I ordered a quick delivery through Tesco with this whoosh delivery (can’t remember if that is the correct name) and I just told the guy my date of birth through the kitchen window and he typed it into his app and left the bag at the door for me. That was for paracetamol as well while I had covid. by ruminmytummy (Fri 15th Sep 2023 4:40pm)
