  • What an absolute wee fud, it's folk like this that made me scared to go to nightclubs back in the day. There was always one wee fucker who wouldn't take no for an answer. Although I'm obviously glad that he's been barred from kokomo, on my one and only trip there a guy put his hand up my skirt and attempted to get it into my actual pants. After I punched him directly in the nose I was told my a bouncer to "calm down" and "lighten up" or I was going to get chucked out. They are not the good guys imo, they're just attempting to look good to the public. by savinglucy1 (Fri 11th Jan 2019 10:10am)
  • Nah you're right man, obviously that's the behaviour of one person - it can't be said that they are all like that. IMO the behaviour of that bouncer suggested to me that it's more than culture of the place and what they bouncers will allow generally- but obviously, I cannie say that for sure! by savinglucy1 (Fri 11th Jan 2019 12:08pm)
  • Thanks man! Nah of course not, back in my bartending days I worked with some absolute gems of stewards that absolutely went above and beyond for me/pals/strangers. Hopefully you don't come across that wee fucker this weekend, but if you can give him a swift kick in the balls from all the woman of Glasgow you'd be a citywide hero. by savinglucy1 (Sat 12th Jan 2019 4:04am)
  • Was hoping that we would have proper snow this weekend and the whole country could shut down for a couple of days again. Then I remembered I work in a hospital and some "kind soul" with an SUV would probably offer lifts. (We don't really want the lifts in, we want the day off. Love, your nurse). Happy Friday! by savinglucy1 (Fri 18th Jan 2019 11:53am)
  • Haha we all would, we would just seriously question our sanity. If you're "lucky" enough to be in hospital during severe weather, you may just find there are far too many staff- as we are all scared to go home in case the next shift cant make it in, rinse and repeat until the weather resolves. Honestly I've never found it so easy to get a hold of a doctor. by savinglucy1 (Fri 18th Jan 2019 12:17pm)
  • I worked with a bloke called Chris at PureGym for a while, cracking dude and was about £20 for an hour (student discount). He gave me some food ideas and things too! Used to be based at Hope St but I believe is in the Springburn one now? I would say though that I only got a PT as I had no idea how to "work" the gym, and it wasn't to lose weight but specifically gain muscle mass. Dunno if it would be worth it unless you had really specific goals like that. by savinglucy1 (Sun 20th Jan 2019 12:09pm)
  • I used to work here! It was the old head office of the G1 group, before HQ got moved to the west end. You didn't catch a photo of my office but it was at the end of the long corridor. It's a few years since I've worked there but there were always problems with repairs and how bloody cold the building is, not to mention security issues from being able to walk straight into Polo. Plus g1 is fairly notorious for buying and keeping property so no one can move in (see the old Tusk in shawlands - it's been empty for years). by savinglucy1 (Fri 8th Feb 2019 1:29pm)
  • Anyone know what all the chaos was in Kelvingrove Park yesterday? Polis helicopter was out and everything but we had no clue what was happening. by savinglucy1 (Sat 20th Apr 2019 9:56am)

  • It was claggy as fuck at the cure, smashing time had by all but would for sure invest in some wellies or boots! Also just in case you missed the fine print we did, they confiscated your brollies on the way in so I'd get a wee poncho too. by savinglucy1 (Sat 17th Aug 2019 9:02am)
  • I totally agree. To be honest I hadn't even thought of using it at the gig, more for the walk home! by savinglucy1 (Sat 17th Aug 2019 9:21pm)
  • Been a couple times, it's alright! The music is good but whenever I've been in the atmosphere has been a bit "meh". There's far better live music in the city imo. by savinglucy1 (Thu 22nd Aug 2019 10:41am)
  • Aye I know what you mean! A solid pick is howlin wolf for live music I'd say if you're bored of the Irish bars. by savinglucy1 (Fri 23rd Aug 2019 10:59pm)

  • Just had a look at your post history and it looks like you’re applying from Albania? :) you should be able to get a teacher to give a reference, that’ll more than suffice. by savinglucy1 (Sun 29th Sep 2019 10:17am)
  • Have lived in the area about 7 years, various flats. Paisley Road West is only that busy on game days and it was particularly bad yesterday. It’s a nice enough area, handy for everything but pretty much fuck all to do unless the big feed is on or you enjoy football pubs. Few nicer cafes etc are popping up now saying that. by savinglucy1 (Sun 29th Sep 2019 2:15pm)
  • New cafe on Copland road called Good times roll is one of my faves too, and punjabi the restaurant next door is incredible! by savinglucy1 (Sun 29th Sep 2019 3:38pm)
  • We've not long moved from a furnished flat to unfurnished and the vast majority of our things were from Gumtree! If you don't mind travelling around a bit we got some absolutely beautiful things for a total bargain. The BHF in Partick has a good mix of second hand and new things. by savinglucy1 (Sun 13th Oct 2019 5:08pm)
  • Any suggestions for something to do today? Will be on my own, 20 something female. Total cabin fever after being stuck in the house for a few days and sick of "pottering around the shops". by savinglucy1 (Sat 19th Oct 2019 8:32am)
  • Oh I've not been since I was little, that's a fab idea. If it's anything like I remember it's well worth a visit. Thank you! Also I love your username, was obsessed with the book as a bairn. by savinglucy1 (Sat 19th Oct 2019 9:06am)
  • We got curtains from amazon, they weren't as cheap as IKEA but the quality is definetly nicer! I can't find the exact listing (I think I bought them from my partners account) but they were around 60 quid from memory. by savinglucy1 (Mon 21st Oct 2019 9:06pm)
  • Getting assaulted on the 38 by a 55 year old man after a football game for asking him politely to take his hand off my thigh. Was fabulous 🙄 by savinglucy1 (Tue 21st Jan 2020 9:39am)
  • I found lets privately through gumtree, the app lets you filter for private/agencies. Years ago spare room had options for private flats and those were often private lets too. Facebook marketplace is a strangely good option too - you can normally tell by the wording if someone is letting privately. Good luck for your move! by savinglucy1 (Sat 25th Jan 2020 8:47pm)
  • Was on Nightshift last night and attempted THREE TIMES to use the alcohol gel only to find it gone. More fool the idiots that think that hand sanitiser is somehow more useful than washing their hands (although it makes a difference from people drinking it tbh). by savinglucy1 (Tue 10th Mar 2020 3:55pm)

And I had read a little about yarn cake but couldn't figure out if they actually sold wool but I'll check it out. I'm not sure if it's Harry I met but the gent I spoke to was absolutely lovely. Thanks a million! by savinglucy1 (Mon 14th Sep 2020 1:20pm)
  • Cool, far more things that we had taken into account really but I'm unsurprised! Any chance this is something you've attempted yourself? We're in a bit of a hard spot ATM because we obviously don't own the property so we're a bit limited to what kind of surveying we can get - we just want to know roughly how many 0s on the end of a project like this! by savinglucy1 (Thu 18th Feb 2021 11:49pm)
  • You are an actual hero, thank you so so so much!! I may just send you a DM in the next couple of days if you don't mind ❤️ by savinglucy1 (Sat 20th Feb 2021 3:43pm)
  • Thank you so much, that's amazingly helpful! ❤️ by savinglucy1 (Sat 20th Feb 2021 3:41pm)
  • Absolutely, we're jumping back and forth considering if it's something we want to actually do! Bit of a tricky one really. We've offered and missed out on 3 properties that were all finished to a good standard, a couple by a few thousand and one memorable one by 30k 😂so just testing the water for options. by savinglucy1 (Sat 20th Feb 2021 3:41pm)
  • Honestly I'm from a PA postcode and have thought about moving home so many times, you get about 6 times the house for your money! by savinglucy1 (Sat 20th Feb 2021 7:49pm)

  • We were in the exact same situation a few months ago, my dream house sold for 65k over home report which was money we couldn't dream of having. We ended up buying a renovation project. We ultimately spent less on it than if we had bought something completely finished, but it does require you to have some extra cash floating around. HR value on our property was £110k, we ended up paying £115k. Renovation costs were about 20k - we were extremely fortunate we had the cash to do this (our entire life savings and help from parents), but if you were on a budget we could have gotten away with about £7k on essential works only (damp work, flooring and some electrical work). Similar properties in our area were going for about £175k+, plus we got to design the property in a way that suited us. If it's not something you've looked into I would really recommend it, although it makes for a tough few months getting the messy jobs done! by savinglucy1 (Sun 1st Aug 2021 8:16am)
  • So I passed my test a few months ago, started lessons back in 2019. Obviously significant delays with lockdown etc Try Able driving school, I used David and he was good. I’m a really nervous driver but he put up with my shit chat well. Personally I’d warn off intensive driving courses, especially at the minute with tests being quite difficult to source. And if you can book and pass your theory test as soon as you possibly can, even if you haven’t got an instructor yet I’d recommend that too. I know some people were having to go as far as Swansea for theory tests due to the delay. by savinglucy1 (Fri 24th Dec 2021 8:59am)
  • About hour and a half-ish at 10.30 yesterday. Think there are queues everywhere unfortunately. by savinglucy1 (Fri 24th Dec 2021 8:56am)
  • Maybe not a bad option for you then! Best of luck :) by savinglucy1 (Fri 24th Dec 2021 2:53pm)
  • Have you considered care work? I know it’s a bit covid-y at the minute, but there’s no experience required to be a healthcare support worker in hospitals/care homes and it can be really rewarding :) look at NHS Jobs Scotland, or just google to find local care homes. by savinglucy1 (Mon 27th Dec 2021 7:56am)
  • Went on the 23rd AM, was about 2 hours total. Have heard that Hampden has no queues if you’re able to get there. by savinglucy1 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 9:51am)
  • Gumtree is a good place to find private rentals. I lived in flats operated by letting agents for years and had nothing but trouble with all of them. Had two flats from private landlords and had a much better experience. Just make sure it’s all legit, tenancy agreement, deposit in Safe Deposits Scotland etc. You can get a bit more for your money too. by savinglucy1 (Tue 4th Jan 2022 4:14pm)
  • I live in Ibrox, have been here about 8 years. You’d get a good flat for your money here. Also agree with Paisley, my friend has a lovely house there and you get so much more for your money. Seen a joke post about the Port Glasgow flats, but honestly it’s a nice wee town (grew up there) and about a 30 minute-ish drive from Glasgow. Just don’t buy the ones on for about 10 quid. by savinglucy1 (Tue 4th Jan 2022 4:10pm)
  • If you’re visiting/are a patient attending an appointment it’s absolutely fine. Plenty of car parks dotted around the site. If you’re a staff member trying to get a space at shift change time, bit of a nightmare but there’s a big car park designated staff only. by savinglucy1 (Thu 13th Jan 2022 11:27am)
  • Second this. We needed a speedy council tax letter as part of the paperwork for our mortgage (the whole thing would have fallen through without it) and they were excellent, phoned the Monday morning and had the relevant paperwork by Wednesday. by savinglucy1 (Thu 13th Jan 2022 11:32am)
  • Spend a day in the West End for sure! If you’re into museums, Kelvingrove is really good. https://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museums/venues/kelvingrove-art-gallery-and-museum. (Most) Museums are free to visit in Glasgow, and there are donation boxes for you to pay what you can. Ashton Lane is a quick walk away, it’s a lovely wee area with plenty of options for food and drinks. It’ll be really busy in July with a good atmosphere. The Transport Museum is in the west end too and well worth a visit. Last time I went, the cafe had some really good cake! https://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museums/venues/riverside-museum. I think someone has already suggested Oran Mor as well, the play pint and a pie thing is magic. Also the botanic gardens (https://glasgowbotanicgardens.co.uk/the-gardens/visiting-the-gardens/) is well worth a wander through. Hope you enjoy your trip! by savinglucy1 (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 10:42am)
  • I’ve forgot the name of it but there’s a record shop down near Hanoi Bike Shop in Hillhead. It was absolutely stacked to the rafters and pretty affordable if I remember right. by savinglucy1 (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 10:45am)
  • So we bought a ground floor tenement - we knew it had damp issues and we were doing a full renovation. To get two and a half room fully damp worked was just under £1000. We got a different company to do the plastering and they did some extra work on top of the areas that were damp proofed, but all in all it was £2800 total. The estimate we got with the home report was almost bang on, but we did get the extra plastering work. To be honest, it’s not the worlds biggest deal if you’ve got the cash to spend and you’re planning on redecorating anyways. Having now done a major renovation, i would say it was honestly one of the most hassle free parts. We got a few quotes and went through a company called Bromac in the end. They were good overall, bit of a delayed start but we were renovating in the middle of lockdown so understandable. Good luck :) by savinglucy1 (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 10:51am)

  • Studied at UWS Paisley, different course. Previously did a course in Strathclyde. Honestly found Paisley far, far better. Much more support, smaller classes, better facilities. Overall much more positive experience at UWS. Lots of snobbery about the place re UWS as a whole but would highly recommend it to anyone. by savinglucy1 (Wed 16th Mar 2022 3:27pm)

  • We would love to do this more often, it’s just not financially feasible to do daily for us although I really wish it was! I agree with not letting him off lead when his recall is a bit patchy - it’s actually fairly solid around everything apart from dogs and we’re working hard on that. The difficulty is trying to train him for that scenario without being in it if you know what I mean? I know this isn’t a dog training sub but if you have any hints please fire them my way 😂 by savinglucy1 (Mon 24th Apr 2023 7:47pm)
