  • Used it the other day. Excellent idea, you can top up your own water bottle without touching the actual water spout. by AAAA111111111 (Sat 22nd Aug 2020 12:56pm)
  • Yeah, people out shopping in the city centre dressed in a manner of their own choosing, that presumably makes them happy, OUTRAGEOUS! by AAAA111111111 (Sun 30th Aug 2020 3:04pm)
  • Definitely apply for UC and do it ASAP as it can take 5 weeks to get your first payment. I think that the idea you do not qualify if leaving employment voluntarily goes back to the previous system and no longer applies. When I applied a couple of years ago I don't remember the issue being raised, which at the time surprised me as I was expecting all kinds of questions regarding it. Even if it is an issue, under your circumstances I'm pretty sure that it would not apply to yourself. by AAAA111111111 (Tue 8th Sep 2020 11:41am)
  • You could also use "Nextbike" the public bike rental scheme. Pick one up in town and drop it off in Shawlands. First 30 mins is free and you can do the journey in <30 mins easily. by AAAA111111111 (Tue 8th Sep 2020 12:19pm)
  • Perhaps we could set up a system allowing those with a genuine reason for non complience to be verified and made easier to identify. They could provide relevant medical evidence to the authorities and in return recieve an official exemption certificate. A counterfeit proof badge would also be supplied and displayed (a holographic star?) allowing others to recognise them as genuine. It seems like the mask wearing regulations will be in place for some time so a tattoo on the back of their hand or even neck might be an idea. I'm sure that most people qualifying would happliy sign up for such a scheme. It would allow them to go about their business undisturbed by aggresive, overzealous mask wearers as well as putting the minds of those genuinely concerned at ease. by AAAA111111111 (Thu 24th Sep 2020 3:51pm)
  • Why not tell your boyfriend? If some arsehole in a shop was giving my GF this type of shit I would definetly want to know about it. by AAAA111111111 (Thu 8th Oct 2020 12:00am)

  • Speak to the landlord ASAP. A lot of people here are pointing you in the direction of Citizens advice and Shelter, both great organisations. However the first thing that they will do is ask what the landlord has done/offered to do to fix the situation. If you have not given the landlord the opportunity to remedy the issues then there is not a lot that they can really do at this point. For example if you were to inform your landlord of the issues and they agreed to fix the light before the end of tomorrow and touch up the paint work within a fortnight then this would be reasonable and you really wouldn't have any legal justification to end the tenancy early. You ask if you could cancel the tenancy agreement and escape the first month's rent, skipping what you call the "normal" 28 days notice period. Simply giving a landlord 28 days notice to quit a new tenancy agreement is rarely an option. Most residential lets will have an initial 6 month rental agreement, only after this has expired can you leave without penalty with a months notice. At this point the landlord must give you 2 months if they wish to terminate the agreement. I have no idea what the rental market is like at the moment. 5 years ago when I was looking for a place, it was gone, gone, gone until I finally got one in an area I was happy with. If I had moved in and encountered the same problems as yourself I would have put my energy into getting the issues resolved and staying put rather than upping sticks straight away and having to start the whole process again! In short unless your landlord refuses to fix the light in the toilet you can be held to your tenancy agreement that will very likely be for 6 months. The patches of paint by themselves would not likely be an acceptable reason to cancel without penalty either. by AAAA111111111 (Tue 9th Mar 2021 1:58pm)
  • Right I see, I took out my tenancy before 2017, hence my ignorance. Had a look and as far as notice periods to quit etc a lot has changed. Is it now common for there to be no initial lease agreement? Are people generally now just paying their rent a month in advance with no further commitments? Because if the OP has signed a lease I can't see how the 2017 legislation will help them. by AAAA111111111 (Tue 9th Mar 2021 2:56pm)
  • Cool, thats what I couldn't find. OP should put in this notice straight away if they really just want to move and be done with it, although they will more than likely have to pay full rent until the end of the notice period. by AAAA111111111 (Tue 9th Mar 2021 3:47pm)
  • I share your thoughts. TBH I initially posted because every comment was suggesting go to CAB or Shelter" without any mention of asking the landlord to fix the problem. In real life this problem would go as follows. Move in, light doesn't work, call landlord, landlord fixes it pretty quickly as he wants a tenant and therefore rent. It is of no benefit for a landlord to not repair it especially as the tenant can just quit with 28 days notice. by AAAA111111111 (Tue 9th Mar 2021 4:09pm)
  • 🤔 Since posting this very idea has also occurred to me. It's definitely possible but unlikely I would say. Will need to gave a wee look into it today. by AAAA111111111 (Wed 10th Mar 2021 1:56pm)

  • Down voted for politely refusing to discuss a private medical issue on a public forum, Wow! by AAAA111111111 (Wed 10th Mar 2021 5:26pm)
  • Don't know why you would get down voted mate, what you say is true. My observation was why would you describe the presence of 2 military attack helicopters above your city as a "Nice sight and sound"? Each to their own I guess, but certainly not something that gets me excited, more concerned TBH. by AAAA111111111 (Fri 12th Mar 2021 1:46pm)
  • That's what I thought, the being closed just now bit anyway. Since reading your reply I have looked at the meeting checker on their website and quite a few meetings are listed as physical meetings having reopened. Should have checked this before posting, in my defence I had looked previously and they were just listed as normal when clearly closed. Can anyone confirm if the meetings listed on AA website as "physical meetings reopened" are indeed now open to attend in person? Or confirm that the information on the meeting finder is out of date and all meetings are indeed closed, closed as in shut! by AAAA111111111 (Sat 20th Mar 2021 12:41pm)
  • Thanks. by AAAA111111111 (Sat 20th Mar 2021 1:29pm)
  • Skyrocket was my choice of word, perhaps it was wrong I would need to look back at threads from a few weeks ago and see. The tone of many of the threads about the issue was however very much, "these are bad people for doing this, it is very dangerous and there will be consequences." Well it did happen and any consequences appear to have been rather mild. When I ask has anyone changed there mind this was more in relation to there attitudes towards the restrictions especially regarding outdoor meetings. We are still messing about with the rule of 2,3,6 or whatever when it is pretty clear that outdoor gatherings do not pose anything other than a very minimal public health risk. by AAAA111111111 (Thu 1st Apr 2021 4:30pm)
  • The logic is that it happened and the sky didn't fall in. We have single figure daily deaths and low double figure ICU occupancy. I see no reason why those who choose to should be preventing from doing anything with anybody OUTSIDE. The NHS is NOT under any great stress from covid and nobody is dieing. Enough is enough. I believe that it remains illegal for me to cross council borders to visit my daughter, many restrictions that can only be described as bananas remain in place. This is not proportionate to the current threat IMO. by AAAA111111111 (Fri 2nd Apr 2021 12:43am)

  • Weird thread, more the comments than op. I don't see any connection between a Chicken shop so popular that their trade is causing congestion outside to low footfall retail stores used as fronts for drug money? Other than the owners ethnicity that is. The tone of some comments seem to suggest that because some South Asian businesses are fronts they all are. by AAAA111111111 (Sun 25th Apr 2021 12:37pm)

  • I have been in town at various points of the summer smoking weed. I just keep it discreet and have a fly look out for their police but just in my general periphery not para. Police are not looking to hassle anyone smoking weed, from what I see. They will however use it as an aggravating factor if your up to anything else. So don't take the piss and your fine basically. Pigs? Either walk in the opposite direction if you can or walk past and ignore them having pocketed the joint of course. This advice applies wither your smoking or not by the way. I've been Blazin' in the middle of Sauchiehall Street on a busy(well kind of) Saturday night and not had any hassle. You can literally see the bother and if it's not you causing it then your fine. They're never going to prioritise your joint over a couple of drunks about to kick off or something. Also the folk about town have seemed pretty chill with it or not nothing. Apart from obvious areas, people have generally been cool from my experience. Also and it pains me to say this, it really does. But just don't take the piss out of the Police, just stay away from them. I have, sorry have had my issues with the Police but none of them were to do with weed. So just stay chill.... 07.05 and been Blazin' all night, I'm stuck in that tired but can't sleep zone. Have a good one, and remember. • Hidden amoungst all this nonsense is the real story. Police statement, "At times, and I have been clear to the First Minister on this over the last weeks and months to make this very clear and to UK Ministers, it may well look quite messy when you look at the visual images that are going to be created.
