  • Forge fitness in the east end if it’s still going. I used to go there, cracking wee gym by AlternativeAd1984 (Thu 3rd Mar 2022 8:13pm)
  • Staph aureus is a specialty there by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 7th Mar 2022 7:42pm)
  • I would like to help as well, please DM me too by AlternativeAd1984 (Thu 10th Mar 2022 4:49pm)
  • Just work out what you owe them and pay that. It helps to get in writing that you owe £X amount, so that if there’s any trouble you have a letter/email to refer to. If you paid a full month when you only owed like 2 weeks they would be very slow in refunding you. Don’t put yourself out. by AlternativeAd1984 (Thu 10th Mar 2022 4:55pm)
  • I lived in the east end for a few years and it was a lovely place to live (just wanted to point that out 🤣). For your situation though, no point moving to east end. I agree with Jaquetpotato, Southside is ideal. I currently live in cardonald, close to QEU and Paisley Road west gives an almost straight road right into the city centre. by AlternativeAd1984 (Thu 10th Mar 2022 7:26pm)
  • Go onto spareroom.com, I found a flatmate there when the one I had was moving out. We met up a couple of times to get to know each other and she was wonderful. Lived together for 2 years and only parted ways because my boyfriend and I were moving in together. Hope this helps! by AlternativeAd1984 (Fri 11th Mar 2022 8:05pm)
  • As someone who lives in a lower cottage flat, please do, and thank you for your consideration 🤣. The noise we get just from our neighbours walking around is absolutely horrendous. Plus every single floorboard they have squeaks and their toddler runs around constantly and is up till all hours. Never would have thought such a small person could sound like a herd of elephants overhead 🤣🤣 by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 14th Mar 2022 7:39am)
  • Strathclyde student here! Honestly, you’ll be absolutely fine. Folk are really friendly and the uni has decent resources for getting to know people. Good luck with your move! by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 14th Mar 2022 9:02am)
  • We’re lucky I suppose in the sense that they are nice people. They’re friendly to talk to, and we’re going to be moving out in a few months anyway. The trouble we have is that they aren’t really doing anything wrong. They’re just living their life in their home as they should be. And we are not the kind of people who expect silence from a child, people need to be able to live. He runs about bananas all day but then as soon as half 10 hits (yes, the toddler goes to bed at half 10) there is total silence. All the noise they make is within reasonable hours, so not really much that can be done about it. That being said, they could make a teensie bit of effort to not have a family gathering in their bedroom right above ours at half 7 on a Saturday morning 🤣 by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 14th Mar 2022 9:31pm)
  • That sounds horrendous! Folk like that are unbearable to share a close with, been there more than once living in flats! It’s not them who’s moving out, it’s us! And we’ll be buying our first house so hopefully never have to have upstairs/downstairs neighbours again by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 14th Mar 2022 9:47pm)
  • I lived in Shettleston for years in a lovely 2 bed flat with a flatmate. Rent and bills was deffo £400-£450 a month and the area was nice. There seems to be this snobbery that there is nowhere in Glasgow worth living if it’s not the city centre or the west end. I wish people would stop “advising” their friends who are moving to Glasgow that the west end is the best place to be. Sure it’s the best place if you want to live in squalor with 5 other students in a grimey tenement and pay £600 each for the pleasure 🤣 OP - broaden your search to further afield. You’ll get far more for your money and probably live in a quieter area. by AlternativeAd1984 (Sun 3rd Apr 2022 12:19am)
  • I used to live right on the corner of Shettleston Road and Dalveen Street, we may have been neighbours! 😊 by AlternativeAd1984 (Sun 3rd Apr 2022 8:47am)
  • Thank you, will have a look into it! by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 9:54pm)
  • We have spotted Sherbrooke on our search! Would you say 8-10k was the average price? Also was that a package with food etc or just the venue alone? We would be getting married in a church and just looking for the reception and overnight rooms etc at the hotel by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 9:50pm)
  • Thank you so much! by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 10:13pm)
  • A Saturday would actually be ideal for us, we’d like to marry on our anniversary in September next year which happens to be a Saturday! by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 10:12pm)
  • Sorted thanks 🤣🤣 by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 10:11pm)
  • I know the crutherland quite well, we used to go there sometimes for Xmas back when we did the whole family do. Is it a very pricey venue for a wedding? by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 10:45pm)
  • Thanks so much 😊 by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 11:08pm)
  • Omg that is a fantastic deal. Will deffo look into it. Southside would be our ideal location but when there’s deals like that going my preferences go out the window 🤣 thank you! by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 11:10pm)
  • Wow that’s fantastic! Thanks so much I’ll look into busby hotel. Used to drive past it all the time on the way to a job it looks lovely! by AlternativeAd1984 (Wed 20th Apr 2022 7:06am)
  • Well that’s brilliant! I saw on their website that they have a string quartet as part of a package, did you have anything like that? by AlternativeAd1984 (Wed 20th Apr 2022 8:53am)
  • We are going to look into the busby hotel tomorrow. I really like the Sherbrooke but it might be a bit out of our price range. We are having a small-ish wedding and they will charge a fee if you don’t meet their minimum guest numbers. Busby hotel feels a bit more “us” as well, it looks lovely 🥰 by AlternativeAd1984 (Wed 20th Apr 2022 9:07pm)
  • One of my best bus journeys was sitting behind a guy who had a CD player (this was well into the days of Spotify etc), listening to Tiesto and eating a family sized galaxy. Guy was in his element just smiling out the window and it cheered me up 😊 by AlternativeAd1984 (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 11:58pm)
  • I feel like Glasgow having the second highest crime rate in Scotland considering it’s the largest city in Scotland is actually an achievement 🤣 by AlternativeAd1984 (Wed 27th Apr 2022 11:46am)
  • Hotels are bad for this as well. Hotel I worked at in the city centre automatically kept 20% of card payment/room charge tips for “admin costs” by AlternativeAd1984 (Sat 21st May 2022 9:31pm)
  • I pass that all the time. There was a sign up beside it a few weeks ago saying “camera not in use”, but it’s been taken away now! by AlternativeAd1984 (Fri 27th May 2022 3:57pm)
  • There’s definitely butter on this. You know I don’t take butter. by AlternativeAd1984 (Sun 12th Jun 2022 12:29am)
  • If you don’t find anywhere you can park in my driveway, about a 20 min walk away from Bellahouston 👍🏻 by AlternativeAd1984 (Sun 12th Jun 2022 1:25pm)
  • I would always ask them to remove the service charge and tip cash. Service charge gets passed through management and in larger establishments/chains, there is often an “admin cost” taken from these staff tips by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 27th Jun 2022 7:47am)
  • Large hotels still do it, since the money is going through the books by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 27th Jun 2022 2:03pm)
  • Well, they DO do it, and I don’t want them having it, so I tip cash by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 27th Jun 2022 2:29pm)
  • Away ye gao by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 12th Jul 2022 8:46pm)
  • I too am interested in where does pints. Would like to take my dad to somewhere that red stripe is on draught, pretty sure the last time he had a pint of Red Stripe was in Jamaica 1994 by AlternativeAd1984 (Sat 23rd Jul 2022 8:30am)
  • Couldn’t agree more. Start at 12, finish by 6. Home for your tea and fresh as a daisy in the morning! by AlternativeAd1984 (Sun 31st Jul 2022 2:14pm)
  • Absolutely. It’s amazing how many people don’t pick up on that atmosphere and won’t leave 🤣 by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 1st Aug 2022 12:12pm)
  • What a shame for this poor girl my heart really goes out to her. I hope she’s okay now. My heart was thumping watching this. Whatever the mental state of this guy, she has been made to feel extremely unsafe at her own front door and that is unacceptable. Kudos to her for thinking on her feet and getting out of that building to safety. by AlternativeAd1984 (Sat 13th Aug 2022 12:02pm)
  • Yes it is council run. I used to work for an agency doing waitressing and did a few shifts in places like the Lighthouse, City Chambers, Tramway etc. The council waste an enormous amount of money on fancy dinners at these places. They would have all their own staff plus hire a bunch of agency that they didn’t need, on a relatively high rate of pay at the time. Mind you, getting paid to stand around and go home with a portion of whatever dinner was being served wasn’t too shabby at all 🤣 by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 10:22pm)
  • I fully admit I’m not the best driver and I get frustrated in traffic jams like everyone else, but one thing I take pride in is that I don’t intimidate cyclists in front of me. There’s all sorts of bad drivers and bad cyclists on the roads, but to be honest, I commend cyclists for being brave enough to actually cycle places. I’ve always fancied it but I am simply too scared of being knocked down, so I’ve never done it. by AlternativeAd1984 (Wed 31st Aug 2022 7:55pm)
  • We aim to spend exactly £200 per month (couple, no kids), so £25 per person per week. We shop at Lidl and if you spend £200 in a month and scan the app each time, you end up with a £2 coupon after £100 spend and another £10 coupon when you hit £200 by AlternativeAd1984 (Sun 4th Sep 2022 12:02pm)

  • No. I don’t allow that in my house. by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 13th Sep 2022 6:59pm)
  • Oh stop it. Don’t 😭 by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 13th Sep 2022 8:00pm)
  • Lol it was my next door neighbour who first pointed it out to me. Apparently I say “dinny”, like, “I dinny know, dinny want to.. etc”. I’m just glad it hasn’t fully taken over, I will never say “ken” 🤣 by AlternativeAd1984 (Tue 13th Sep 2022 11:09pm)
  • Thank you… what is cake day? My birthday was in June 🤣 by AlternativeAd1984 (Wed 14th Sep 2022 12:29pm)

  • I stay in Cardonald just now but have been in a number of places over last 10 years; Barrhead, Shettleston, Bridgeton, Kings Park, Gorbals by AlternativeAd1984 (Wed 14th Sep 2022 1:41pm)
  • Add Central Letting Services to the list. Shower of scheming, lying bastards. They tried to keep most of my deposit and failed. Not to mention completely incompetent the whole 3 years I used them. by AlternativeAd1984 (Thu 15th Sep 2022 8:12pm)
  • Are you a professional landlord named Stewart? by AlternativeAd1984 (Fri 7th Oct 2022 8:48pm)
  • The thing about the dishes, any cleaner worth their salt would not leave a house with a sink full of dishes, no matter how clean the rest of the house was. I worked as a cleaner for a while and the company I was with would ask people not to leave dishes for this reason, so that our time would be better spent on actual cleaning. But a kitchen with dishes in the sink is not a clean kitchen, that’s the cleaner mentality! by AlternativeAd1984 (Sat 19th Nov 2022 8:55pm)
  • Aye, now that I don’t want for anything I can go wherever! 🤣 by AlternativeAd1984 (Mon 21st Nov 2022 5:31pm)
