  • Thanks for this! Andrew was able to set up an appointment for me. Although admittedly, he was a little bit confused about being recommended by someone online! by Dexontronox (Wed 20th Oct 2021 3:33pm)
  • Because Caramel Logs just don't have the lift power to get you airborne. You'll just end up falling over and looking silly. by Dexontronox (Tue 30th Nov 2021 1:54pm)
  • Anyone have experience with problems getting post? Supposed to have had two letters from solicitors and one from my bank, just not turned up. Thought they were just not bothering, but yesterday got some spam through the letter box. Don't know what's going on but it's making me wonder what else I missed, those letters I know about were really important... by Dexontronox (Thu 13th Jan 2022 1:00pm)
  • The whole thing is so fucking wild to me. It's not the 17th century anymore, why would you give a fuck about someone else's religion? Aren't like 60/70% of people atheist or agnostic these days anyway? What a ridiculous waste of energy, the lot of it. by Dexontronox (Wed 19th Jan 2022 7:54pm)
  • I used First Mortgage as broker (free), and they sent me to Ralph Hendrie Legal. Pretty chill process overall, the broker tries to get you to sign up to insurances but can't really blame them, that's how they get their commission. They provide good service in compensation for the insurance pushing. I would recommend using them for a first time buyer. by Dexontronox (Mon 24th Jan 2022 2:22pm)
  • Weird that, inflation is 5.5% but price increase of 20%. Paying for some bellend executive's next porsche one bottle at a time. by Dexontronox (Thu 27th Jan 2022 3:27pm)
  • Honestly I'm keeping an eye on this just to see if there's a place not aimed only at little kids where everything has been fondled by tiny, germ coated fingers, more than the actual selection on offer. by Dexontronox (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 6:20pm)
  • Brave Bakers on Saltmarket are pretty good by Dexontronox (Fri 4th Feb 2022 5:45pm)
  • Yeah, I'm currently in the building on the other side of 240 and it's pretty tidy. Quiet, responsive factor, nice and clean. Internet connection is shocking though, thinking about getting a carrier pigeon to speed things up... by Dexontronox (Sat 9th Apr 2022 11:47pm)
  • Aye, need something like the Dutch (or somewhere round there) have. Safe places for addicts to use, clean needles, health care, and plenty of access to support to get off the drug. Get addicts off the street, get needles off the street, get them surrounded by material needed to help them stop. by Dexontronox (Tue 3rd May 2022 11:16am)
  • Christ... I felt like a bit of a tosser when I moved up here from London, but at least I'm using the flat I'm taking up, paying my dues, and spending money in Scottish businesses. The balls on these fucking tools... by Dexontronox (Mon 9th May 2022 10:54am)
  • If people like you are the ones involved in local politics I'll stay away thanks. You've been nothing but bizarrely aggressive and unhelpful considering how important you believe it to be... by Dexontronox (Tue 17th May 2022 7:21pm)
  • Yeah, Tradeston is almost ridiculous, and I'm not even talking about those Wallace Street buildings. Literally just over the squiggly bridge there's a wholesalers, a car dealership, an abandoned office building, and a literal empty patch of land. So much land being very poorly utilised considering it's right in the heart of the city. by Dexontronox (Fri 24th Jun 2022 11:33am)
  • As much as your opinion is pretty valid here, I think people tend to put too much emphasis on negative equity. If you're actually planning to live in the property then negative equity really doesn't have that much importance. by Dexontronox (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 8:32pm)
  • Should probably be the other way around mate. If they're with those big delivery services then they're definitely "self-employed contractors" getting shit on in five directions. If they're with the restaurant they're probably either properly employed or at least getting shit on less. by Dexontronox (Thu 14th Jul 2022 1:13pm)
  • Unfortunately true, Starmer is a complete non-entity, like an empty suit blathering meaningless platitudes without actually declaring policy or intentions. Honestly think sometimes he's being bribed to keep Labour from offering any real challenge. by Dexontronox (Tue 9th Aug 2022 10:46am)
  • My experience is that phrases like "digital skills" and "tech ecosystem" don't really mean anything. IT is such a wide range of skill sets and activities, what do you really mean? Do you know yet? I also find that there's an absolutely massive learning gap to take someone who has no idea how to use their computer aside from logging in to gmail and facebook, and get them ready for entry level employment. You need to start from scratch, and build all the way up, are you prepared for that? As others have suggested, you need a well-designed, transparent, and linear set of courses, starting from the basic understanding of how computers really work, with pathways to go from there in to software development, or graphical design, or data science, or social media management. by Dexontronox (Fri 12th Aug 2022 11:08pm)
  • You can even search for your councilors based on your address: https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/councillorsandcommittees/addressSearch.asp Tomorrow I'm emailing my councilors about the under-utilised land around Tradeston. Might go nowhere, but you're right it's better than chatting shite on here. by Dexontronox (Wed 17th Aug 2022 6:51pm)
  • At least that might reduce the number of posts on here about student accom by Dexontronox (Fri 19th Aug 2022 8:37pm)
  • tbf I think it's about balance, can't just keep building accomm and letting those Uni admins think it's okay to accept anyone who can pay because someone else will fix the mess. Particularly since student accomm invites more corporations to buy properties and rent them out at extortionate prices. Need to keep a good balance of students to general population and make the Uni actually think about what they're doing. These students who are struggling so hard should really be supported out of the Uni's pocket. by Dexontronox (Thu 22nd Sep 2022 10:02am)
  • Jesus, this isn't about foreign people. I lived in a town with a huge student population compared to general population, and it really does matter. by Dexontronox (Thu 22nd Sep 2022 10:19am)
  • What a small brain take, it's just a hobby like any other, if you're not interested then keep your nose out. Absolutely no need to be a dick about it. by Dexontronox (Wed 2nd Nov 2022 12:57pm)
  • Physical punishment does nothing except teach children that the strongest person gets to decide what is right and wrong. Is that what we want to teach children? by Dexontronox (Sun 20th Nov 2022 1:19pm)
  • Anyone got any advice for getting Amazon/takeaway deliveries when you're in a block of flats? They keep delivering to some random address in the building that isn't mine and declaring it delivered, so I keep having to try get a refund or redelivery. Eventually they're gonna call me a liar and I'm gonna lose my money. by Dexontronox (Mon 28th Nov 2022 3:42pm)
  • You keep saying this, £400 spare cash after all your bills is not enough, but you never explain why or elaborate. By what measure it is not enough? I don't know about your habits but I could quite happily save half of that and have the other half to go to the pub, watch movies, buy clothes or books or other bits. Sure, you're not gonna be buying a Porsche any time soon, but you're the one out of touch if you think it's nothing. by Dexontronox (Sun 11th Dec 2022 5:10pm)
  • Leave Tradeston even faster. Nothing else you can do around there... by Dexontronox (Wed 14th Dec 2022 8:44pm)
  • Aye, sticking your head in the sand is all well and good but only up to a certain extent. You have to be intolerant of intolerance, it's the only way to make the world a better place. The confederate flag should have disappeared in to the history books a century ago, it's only unrestrained bigotry that keeps it alive. by Dexontronox (Fri 16th Dec 2022 10:05pm)
  • Aye airport feels like a bit of a deadzone, can get an uber **to** the airport, but you gotta get lucky if you want to get in to the city from the airport. by Dexontronox (Fri 10th Mar 2023 10:51am)
  • Yeah, sounds like a lot of hassle to me. I just took an Uber last week, £18 all in. Seemed like a pretty fair fare to me. by Dexontronox (Wed 29th Mar 2023 12:52pm)
  • That's really odd, took an Uber at 8am on the 24th, city centre to the airport. £18 total. by Dexontronox (Wed 29th Mar 2023 12:55pm)
  • Can anyone recommend trans supportive places or events where I might be able to meet trans people for general advice and support? by Dexontronox (Wed 29th Mar 2023 4:48pm)
  • Yeah this is weird. I am absolutely for tearing down the god awful M8 and replacing it with something more like London's M25 ring road, but until then the M8 is still a motorway and so motorway laws apply... by Dexontronox (Thu 30th Mar 2023 11:44am)
  • Aye, you have a point, but it's also worth remembering why unions began failing in the first place. Unions only work with strong leadership offering push back against profiteering businesses, and when unions start they start strong, but after a while when leadership changes and politics gets involved the leadership can get weaker. Unions failed because "I've got mine" types got leadership positions and accepted preferential treatment, and even bribes, in exchange for screwing over the union. Weak unions can be worse than no union at all. by Dexontronox (Sat 22nd Apr 2023 4:09pm)
  • DELETED Am I out of touch or something? I calculated my grocery spend for all of last month and got £232, that includes 1 takeaway per week, toiletries and other non-food, brand names instead of own-brand, a few alcohol purchases, and generally not bothering to be economical. If I wanted I could drop that down to £150 per month without that much trouble. Which doesn't seem so crazy. by Dexontronox (Wed 17th May 2023 3:15pm)
  • Anyone going to Cathouse or any other rock/metal bars or clubs this weekend? Need to get out of my shell and meet new people but don't want to turn up alone and impose myself on strangers like a weirdo. by Dexontronox (Wed 7th Jun 2023 4:22pm)
