  • I'm a younger person myself, but I feel a significant part of the problem is 15-25yos just not wearing masks and often going to the certain cramped indoor drinking places where mask-wearing isn't enforced. by Haystack67 (Thu 8th Oct 2020 1:48am)

  • *NHS*: "Stay at home" *People*: Using virus-mandated time off work to mingle with a bunch of people on ice. *NHS*: Becoming absolutely overwhelemed by new covid patients and also by people sustaining injuries from falling on the ice. *People*: **ICE MINGLE :D** by Haystack67 (Thu 7th Jan 2021 11:27pm)
  • Speaking as an NHS doctor, I've never seen anyone die from covid who's adhered entirely to guidelines. I've seen tens of people die because their families have "pretty much" stuck by the rules. I can absolutely visualise these skaters speaking to doctors in A&E and claiming that their mild indescretions could never lead to a vulnerable person contracting the virus. by Haystack67 (Thu 7th Jan 2021 11:37pm)
  • What gets me is that they seem surprised every time. Gran with mild dementia becomes much more confused, disorientated, feverish.. ends up testing positive for covid-19: "No idea where she got it from, we went skating the other day but wore a mask and kept apart from everyone else. Only been me and my sister's family in contact with her". Gran's dead three days later. Thanks for sticking to guidelines. by Haystack67 (Fri 8th Jan 2021 12:30am)
  • Aah so this is another case of "so-called experts" then, aye? Glad you know better. by Haystack67 (Sat 15th May 2021 7:34pm)
  • DELETED Can you blame them for making noise with fireworks? It's the easiest way for them to make noise since they were banned from banging drums in sectarian fluorescent marches. by Haystack67 (Sat 15th May 2021 7:40pm)
  • Hope you stop throwing around vague words like "classism" then, when you're not taking the time to read the counterargument. It's not a bloody ten-page essay, it took me one minute to read and it's fairly damning that you're not willing to dedicate a single minute to listening to your opposition. by Haystack67 (Sat 15th May 2021 7:48pm)
  • Is the fact not that it has the most marble of any building in Europe (outside of the Vatican)? by Haystack67 (Wed 26th May 2021 12:55pm)
  • DELETED I've never come across them pre-covid. Maybe just been lucky in that regard. by Haystack67 (Wed 26th May 2021 1:17pm)
  • What a fucking judgemental leap lol by Haystack67 (Wed 26th May 2021 2:39pm)
  • DELETED Aah right that's where I went wrong. Thanks mate. by Haystack67 (Wed 26th May 2021 2:38pm)
  • DELETED Lol I'm nearly 30 and have lived in Glasgow my whole life. Maybe I've just been lucky in the past. Still feel like things are worse since Lockdown though. by Haystack67 (Wed 26th May 2021 2:36pm)
  • DELETED Meh, I've lived here my whole life and been stopped maybe 6 times. Two of those have been this past week but maybe I've just been lucky in the past. by Haystack67 (Wed 26th May 2021 2:35pm)
  • Aye I guess you're right in part. I've come across those guys in the past but only just learned how many of them lurk around during commuting hours. Still will never have any patience for them though. They're scum who look to surprise/intimidate people who are anxious or disorientated. Glasgow wouldn't be Glasgow without mad people but those grifters can get tae. by Haystack67 (Wed 26th May 2021 3:08pm)
  • Tbh I've only just started working in the city centre so it's probably related to them being more active during commute hours by Haystack67 (Wed 26th May 2021 3:10pm)
  • DELETED That's ironically a whole lot of judgement right there. I donate to homeless charities and make an effort to ask beggars if they want any food/drink when I see them on the street. It doesn't mean I have to start supporting people who use guilt, lies, and at times, intimidation, to try to grift people out of money. by Haystack67 (Wed 26th May 2021 4:45pm)
  • Breaking news: Now legal to do Class A drugs in Glasgow if you earn over 50k a year. by Haystack67 (Sun 31st Oct 2021 3:30pm)
  • DELETED My parents have quite a good policy- that they see bills including service charge as no problem in themselves, but will openly complain to staff if the tray is returned to their table once they've already paid. by Haystack67 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 11:56am)
  • Maybe about the CO2 impact of farming animals? Honestly don't know myself, and am not veggie/vegan myself, but IMO that's probably the most likely connection between COP and vegan protests. by Haystack67 (Wed 3rd Nov 2021 7:20pm)
  • I all but said that I'm not making a political point mate. by Haystack67 (Wed 3rd Nov 2021 8:47pm)
  • I've always been a staunch SNP man, but have friends from various political parties who admit that local councillors are considered as people who, regardless of political affiliation, lack the intelligence to rise any further in the political ladder. Absolutely proving it in this case. Glasgow council is a joke. by Haystack67 (Thu 4th Nov 2021 11:20pm)
  • Honestly not sure whether OP's being serious with the "pretty" label, but the "Average photo" label is unequivocably a cruel flair and imo inaccurate in this case. Personally think it's a great photo- just not a pretty sight though. by Haystack67 (Mon 8th Nov 2021 3:04pm)
  • Aye, I really love this picture actually. Wouldn't look out of place as a small frame in KG. Only objection is that Glasgow is fairly unequivocably not pretty. Gruff, honest, grand, shameless, mad--- pretty is the last word that would come to mind, even if this image is a bit of a beaut. by Haystack67 (Mon 8th Nov 2021 3:11pm)
  • "Older lady" is twice your age minus seven haha by Haystack67 (Tue 16th Nov 2021 10:35pm)
  • Much as I appreciate having a pet for companionship alone, it's always so much more satisfying (to owner and pet) when they're able to do what they were born to do. One of my favourite subs is /r/dogswithjobs , not sure if there's a cat equivalent. by Haystack67 (Sat 20th Nov 2021 2:30pm)
  • Hahahaha you can tell who's the brains of the couple. Bloke: "what's he using, is that water??" Missus: I imagine they know what they're doing. Also: Bloke: He's checking the doors, why would he do that? Missus: Its probably standard procedure to make sure there's nobody inside the fucking car. by Haystack67 (Mon 21st Feb 2022 6:28pm)
  • Best Kebab actually sell dog meat? Or are you saying that as an example of an accusation that could be considered equally plausible. by Haystack67 (Sat 29th Oct 2022 10:58am)
  • It was a lot better pre-lockdown imo. Only been once this past year, prices had increased hugely since 2019 and it generally seemed a lot less welcoming. Three of us dressed semi-formally, speaking at a normal volume, and on our first drink of the evening, and there was a lot of staring and "can I get you anything else" from the staff. Not to mention, supposedly they treated their pre-lockdown staff incredibly poorly in 2020, refusing to pay them anything for I think the entire duration of the first lockdown. I'm not sure whether anyone who managed to hang on actually ended up getting any repayment. It's the only Glasgow bar I can think of which behaved at least as badly as Wetherspoons in that regard. by Haystack67 (Sat 29th Oct 2022 11:08am)

  • Stop trying to coin the phrase "streets ahead" by Haystack67 (Sat 29th Oct 2022 11:44am)
  • I love Glasgow but it's not a beautiful city relative to its size imo. There's some lovely architecture in the West End and Merchant City, but the whole character of the City Centre is tainted by poorly-conceived road networks and Thatcher-era construction infrastructure. Frustratingly it's taken me years to consider this, since there's a culture that complaining about Glasgow makes you a traitor to our wee Central Belt industrial culture, but cities like Manchester do a much better job at construction and maintenance of their urban hubs. by Haystack67 (Wed 30th Nov 2022 2:24am)
  • Would never give them money straight-up, will offer to buy them food about 25% of the time. That percentage seems to match the proportion of beggars who genuinely give the impression that might otherwise be starving on the streets without it. Though for every homeless person who's overjoyed to see a ham sandwich there's someone who refuses your diet coke because they only like coke zero. by Haystack67 (Wed 30th Nov 2022 2:38am)
  • As an ED doctor I am NOT looking forward to bin day. People are already breaking their hips left right and centre; thoughts go out to the patients and the incredibly busy ortho surgeons. Please look after your frail relatives folks and don't let them venture outside onto flat ungritted surfaces without someone strong to hold on to. 1/3 of patients with broken hips end up essentially fine, 1/3 develop significant disability, and 1/3 die shortly afterwards (days-months). Worth bearing in mind. by Haystack67 (Tue 13th Dec 2022 9:57pm)
  • DELETED Hah, it's "Emergency Department", the name more often attributed to A&E. Any Accident which isn't also an Emergency is more appropriately managed through different pathways these days. Interestingly though the most inspirational doctor I ever trained under was a sexual health consultant in North England. Had to resist the urge to follow him into the field after putting more thought into his day-to-day. by Haystack67 (Tue 13th Dec 2022 10:47pm)
  • They should just use cobblestones at this point. by Haystack67 (Wed 11th Jan 2023 10:26am)
  • They'll last for at least 150 years, at which point they spontaneously combust under utterly non-suspicious circumstances. by Haystack67 (Thu 27th Apr 2023 2:54am)
