  • Didn’t know that was an option. Thanks for that ! by HugeBlueberry (Fri 9th Apr 2021 5:59pm)
  • That’s fine. Like I said, looking for help only. The NHS has caused enough harm with obnoxious waiting times by HugeBlueberry (Fri 9th Apr 2021 5:58pm)
  • Doubt anything will change. The only letter I got was the one that said there will be “significant delay” to my assessment. Been two months and I didn’t even receive the standard questionnaire. But I might try again. Although I always get the same answers every time I call my GP by HugeBlueberry (Fri 9th Apr 2021 6:00pm)
  • I’ll give that a go. Thank you :) by HugeBlueberry (Fri 9th Apr 2021 9:48pm)
  • Agreed. Doesn’t help things tho. by HugeBlueberry (Fri 9th Apr 2021 9:47pm)
  • Thank you for the reply. I’m expecting a lengthy process either way but the sooner I start, the better. The whole situation has been affecting my work and personal life and I don’t want to get to the edge before I take action. by HugeBlueberry (Fri 9th Apr 2021 9:49pm)
  • Ah. I’m so sorry. I hope you’re doing good, all things considered. I can only hope things will change for the better. Healthcare is such an important part of society, you’d expect it to be prioritised. Yet here we are.. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 10th Apr 2021 12:38am)
  • Yeah, formal diagnosis will go a long way. Mainly because I still need to finish my degree so treatment would probably be a life saver. Otherwise, I’d wait too. But the longer I wait, the higher the chances I screw up with my life and sometimes opportunities don’t come back. Thank you for the input. I hope things go well for you ! by HugeBlueberry (Sat 10th Apr 2021 12:40am)
  • I’ll double check with my GP. Thanks for the warning. Seems like something worth knowing. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 10th Apr 2021 11:30pm)
  • I had a pre-screening test done before I went to my GP. I’ll probably go through psychiatry-Uk or ADHD Direct. I’m not sure yet. But they both seem to be quite popular. Hopefully my GP will be helpful. Thanks ! by HugeBlueberry (Sun 11th Apr 2021 6:15pm)
  • I know. I spoke with my GP today and the transfer issues are because the NHS uses different criteria than private clinics. So sometimes unless the report is thorough enough, the NHS believes that stimulants may worsen your condition. I got booked today through psychiatry-UK and got my appointment on Friday. Which I’d say is amazing timing. At least I’ll get some answers quick. Knowing myself I’d probably be anxious to take medication anyway so a delay between diagnosis and treatment may be good for me to get adjusted to the circumstances. I hope you’re better now ! by HugeBlueberry (Tue 13th Apr 2021 5:10pm)
  • Ugh this sounds so obnoxious. Women should be legally allowed to carry paintball guns and just shoot whoever harasses them so everybody else knows. And when anyone sees one of these painted individuals, we point straight at them and yell “SHAME”. There’s no other way. by HugeBlueberry (Fri 4th Jun 2021 8:43am)
  • There’s a dome around the UK and when you pass it’s edges you get instantly transported back to the 1930s. It’s fine, think of it as some sort of enchanted world. by HugeBlueberry (Thu 30th Sep 2021 10:49pm)
  • Went with psychiatry UK after all. It ended up being about 400£. However, got my diagnosis within a month. 3 weeks after I got my diagnosis , the NHS sent me the very first questionnaire and the letter ended with “there’s an excess of 12 months waiting time.” by HugeBlueberry (Sun 19th Dec 2021 2:04am)
  • Yup. Glad to know I’m not the only one dealing with this crap. They’re somewhere in my walls because the landlord that refurbished this flat decided small holes in walls are fine as long as you put the fridge or couch in front of them. Upside for me, I have a cat and she chases them down. Downside, they’ll probably nest in my brain by the time I manage to find all the holes and put some insect deterrent around them. by HugeBlueberry (Fri 24th Jun 2022 8:02am)
  • I don’t think it’s just you. Every time I go out I see this kind of garbage. Really makes me want to move away on a mountain and be one of those people that has a big dog to fend people off. The only reason why I don’t is because there’s no hospitals on the mountain. by HugeBlueberry (Wed 20th Jul 2022 8:56am)
  • Hahaha this is just the beginning mate, wait until you need to take the train anywhere further than two stops or do anything fun out in town. Or you know…get some medical help on a Saturday night Oh, welcome to Glasgow ! by HugeBlueberry (Mon 26th Sep 2022 9:08am)
  • Haha, jokes on you cause I’m on antidepressants by HugeBlueberry (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 8:27am)
  • DELETED Honestly, I know you’re probably just picking up your daughter/sister and her friends but you could very well be asking for directions on where to park when you stalk someone and we’re all like “oh yeah there’s this great spot right across the entrance so you can see anyone who walks in or out” What a strange thing this internet is by HugeBlueberry (Tue 18th Oct 2022 8:34am)
  • Mine are fairly basic but I think they’ll keep you busy for a while. I know you said the weather brings you down and I put here some hiking/cycling but I was like you when I first got here and hiking helped me ignore the rain a lot. Just accept it’s there and be prepared - dry bag with change of clothes in your backpack is a game changer. Or leave them in work and change there. It’s gonna be difficult and I hated my guts for choosing to come here the first year but it really grew on me. Now I’m happy I can deal with rain and cold. Places to see: - Kelvingrove museum - Modern Art Gallery - Duke of Wellington statue (the one with the cone on it, he is now your holy guardian and spiritual representative. Legend has it that if that cone goes down, Glasgow will just cease to exist) - Necropolis - university of Glasgow has nice main building and people keep attributing it to Harry Potter stuff - walk by the river, it’s a nice walk most of the time and you can also see the riverside museum and the science museum while you’re at it. Things to do: - climbing. The climbing and dry tool society are a friendly bunch that also go hiking and outdoor climbing so you’ll make friends quickly if you’re into that. - cycling, there’s also a fairly decent cycling community around. - this subreddit is usually friendly so maybe make a post with a hobby you have and see who takes you up on it. - are you a student ? Universities have many clubs and societies you can join and they do both events for the sport or hobby you joined and also nights out to drink and socialise. - not exactly Glasgow but Loch Lomond and a bunch of easy hills are just 45 min/an hour bus or train ride away. They’re a nice walk but careful now as the weather is getting worse. There’s plenty of [guides](https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/) on the internet that describe walks and their difficulty. Finally, don’t underestimate the effect the Glasgow weather has on your mental state. All the new people in my work who come in spend the first three weeks asking why the rain is so violent and when does it stop. Use the subway whenever possible and the buses. If you time it right, they can be quite handy. I was lucky enough to get a car last year and it made all the difference when it came to going somewhere. Get yourself a good waterproof jacket and shoes if you can (umbrella too but most times the wind will destroy it or make it redundant). Also make sure to take vitamin D. Scotland is in a weird place on the map where even when there is sun, it’s rays come in at a weird angle and you don’t get as much vitamin D as most places in the world. Hope you enjoy the city :) by HugeBlueberry (Sat 22nd Oct 2022 8:45am)
  • Like most people here are saying, call 111 first. Hospitals are full of people who could’ve potentially wait it out. There will be a potential wait so in the meantime, maybe make a hot water bottle or something to help subside the pain. Further personal take on this: However, if the pain has been with you for more than three days and gets worse or doesn’t subside no matter the change of position, diet or other attempts (pain medication) just go to the hospital. And no matter what they gaslight you with, do not let them send you home with pain management. The NHS is under severe strain and underfunded but that’s not an excuse to dismiss patients. We fully need to sympathise with them but they also need to do their job. Best of luck. by HugeBlueberry (Sun 6th Nov 2022 4:19pm)
  • Just noticed that. Well, I hope they’re ok and they’re feeling better. by HugeBlueberry (Sun 6th Nov 2022 6:31pm)
  • I don’t know. Not originally from here. Back home, I’m used to a more “preventative medicine” style where to go all out early so it doesn’t get worse and then you need more resources to contain it. Doesn’t seem to be the approach here. You’ll be seen much faster if you’re bleeding from some orifice. Will your body fully recover if you got to that point ? All hail biology. by HugeBlueberry (Mon 7th Nov 2022 7:56am)
  • I went in fully expecting some story about racism. I’m happy it went a different way by HugeBlueberry (Fri 11th Nov 2022 7:33am)
  • Not particularly helpful answer but, depending on what country you're originally from, you might not find what you're looking for. I'd say cycle between the ones you tried cause they're quite good and maybe you'll get lucky from time to time to get all the crisp ingredients. I find that they usually get the meat right but there's always a miss on the salads or the bread. by HugeBlueberry (Thu 1st Dec 2022 8:13am)
  • Gonna get downvoted to hell but, if you can afford it, go to a country that uses proper building materials so water doesn’t get absorbed in the ridiculously porous material that every tenement building is made of here. If not, get a professional service to clean up the current damp spots and then go all out with airing the place and dehumidifier. Good luck being able to afford warming up when your window needs to be open 30 mins morning and evening but there’s a choice to be made. by HugeBlueberry (Wed 7th Dec 2022 9:34pm)
  • So you’re argument is that unskilled jobs should be able to afford anything past basic necessities and a few nights out ? Liked the sanitation department strikes, did ye ? by HugeBlueberry (Sun 11th Dec 2022 4:18pm)
  • Escape the U.K ? by HugeBlueberry (Sun 30th Apr 2023 7:46am)
  • Which one? by HugeBlueberry (Fri 13th Oct 2023 9:12am)
  • Much appreciated. I'm a bit worried I'll burn myself. One of the reason I went ahead with this post is because I scalded my hand this morning while washing dishes. I didn't register the temperature change. By the time I felt it, my hand was red as fuck. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 9:38am)
  • Looked into this as well. I read here's meds for it but the GP won't prescribe anything because "I'm too young". Already have the Sealskins. Most of my clothing is basically hiking gear at this point haha. I appreciate the response. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 10:02am)
  • Fair enough. The vastness of the internet said the same thing over the years but I'm yet to convince someone to help me out with some medicine. I'll keep at it. Much appreciated. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 10:09am)
  • None taken, they are shite. Unless I'm dying, they treat me like I'm bothering them. The baths do help, but my main problem is I work on my feet most of the day and I gotta work with what I have on me (which isn't much because I work in a controlled environment). Maybe it's also time for a job change, who knows. Appreciate the reply. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 10:08am)
  • All good, thanks. No actual burn. But the more my nerves woke up, the more I could feel what I've done. Bit scary. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 10:18am)
  • I do weights every other day and cardio twice a week. About 90-100 mins each time. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 11:18am)
  • Thanks for the comment ! So the lined winter socks only help so much. I think the underlying issues is I might have cold sweats and no feel them. My core is often warm, my arms and ears very warm. But then my hands, feet and nose are frozen. I do manage to get warm under blanket and with a hot water bottle for my feet but unfortunately, can’t stay like that the whole day. Will try compression socks tho. I got some of those fingerless arthritis gloves and they seem to help. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 11:21am)
  • Thanks very much for the reply. Will definitely try it out. I try to warm my feet up using a hot water bottle but these days I just feel needles and stings when I do that haha. Cheers ! by HugeBlueberry (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 11:33am)
  • My fingers get dark red, slightly purple when they’re very cold. Almost bruised-like. My feet on the other hand are quite pale/white, yes. by HugeBlueberry (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 11:32am)
