  • Yep. OP should look at property in southside. Also take a look at midmarket rent, its high quality private housing subsidised by the government. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 15th Mar 2022 12:21pm)
  • Oh interesting, I didn't know that. Puts the insanely high price of normal private rental into perspective then by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 15th Mar 2022 5:59pm)
  • I generally don't drink. Possibly just a few in the space of a year. I don't really enjoy it and never have. But I've been on lots of dates too. I'm now with a long term partner and I still rarely drink, even though she likes a beer or cocktail or 2 when we go somewhere nice or with friends. Like other people are saying, the right person for you won't be bothered if you don't drink, and plenty of people don't drink. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Mon 18th Jul 2022 9:50am)
  • I recently moved to Glasgow too and looking for friends! Am also into cycling, wild camping, running, climbing and food. There's the Glasgow Pedal Collective which is a really nice and chill mixed cycling group who don't take themselves too seriously. I've been out on some rides with them. I'd be up for meeting for some food sometime if you like. I'm based in Govanhill. PM me if you're interested 🙂 by LaceTheSpaceRace (Sun 21st Aug 2022 7:36pm)
  • There's a place next to Queens Street station that offers function rooms for free. On the west side immediately next to the entrance by LaceTheSpaceRace (Sun 28th Aug 2022 10:38am)

  • Just replied, thanks! by LaceTheSpaceRace (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 7:10pm)
  • That's perfect, thank you by LaceTheSpaceRace (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 8:04pm)
  • Yeah tbf, all of my friends down south where I'm from, don't drink. I never find it a problem being around them when they're drinking and I just have something non alcoholic. I guess its just important to make new potential friends aware incase their main mode of socialising is through alcohol by LaceTheSpaceRace (Sat 3rd Sep 2022 9:13am)
  • Have dm'd you 🙂 by LaceTheSpaceRace (Sat 3rd Sep 2022 9:12am)
  • Lol what. It is *literally* their job. What planet are you on by LaceTheSpaceRace (Wed 19th Oct 2022 11:46am)
  • Comparing London like that is futile tbh. London's 8 cities in one. Some areas are disgusting, others very tidy. Glasgow is the same, but generally Glasgow is very dirty. Especially next to Edinburgh by LaceTheSpaceRace (Wed 19th Oct 2022 11:50am)
  • Because crime and poverty are complex social issues beyond short and easy fixes by one person, obviously. Doesn't mean it's not their job. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Wed 19th Oct 2022 1:20pm)
  • So because your MP hasn't single handedly solved crime and poverty you think they're not doing their job? by LaceTheSpaceRace (Wed 19th Oct 2022 7:08pm)
  • I'm not sure what you're trying to say with those words. Anyway... To be clear, I agree our government are chaos and those in power are generally shite. There's much the police aren't doing, which they should be doing, to tackle the rising crime in Edinburgh and Glasgow. But those facts have nothing to do with any one MP acting within the means of their job and power or not. Your MP could easily be doing their job by *just* sending a letter. The problem is all the other people in the mix, collectively, being incompetent or unsuitable. Which leads into broader issues with our government. *Regardless*, none of this means it's "not their job". I have a job, but just because I'm rubbish at it, doesn't mean it's not my job. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Thu 20th Oct 2022 12:21pm)
  • I thought it's been alright recently... and I'm from south England. If you think this is bad, I'm sorry to say it will get worse. Even if it had rained most days, there's still been sunshine. Yesterday was pretty sunny I thought. Like another said, nothing out the ordinary. Maybe you've been unlucky to be outside every time it rains. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:27am)
  • No one needs to play their music so loud that neighbours can hear it, even in the middle of the day. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Sat 5th Nov 2022 11:56am)

  • DELETED I almost certainly have ADHD, and has been obvious since I was a baby, but have never gotten diagnosed. It makes me who I am, helps with creativity, helps me to get excited about things, be outdoorsy and love exercise. It comes with negatives like susceptibility to depression and anxiety, but I wouldn't change anything. I don't want medication because that just numbs the perfectly normal person I am. There's little reason to assume you'd need any medication if you don't use it already. With so many people being diagnosed these days, it's about time we started realising that people don't need to be medicated - instead we need to see that "normal" doesn't exist, and learn to appreciate and support the whole spectrum of personalities by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 8:59am)
  • DELETED Totally. I'm the same and there's nothing wrong with us. It makes us who we are. Society just loves the idea of "normal", but it's good the rise of ADHD diagnosis and similar is displacing that. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 9:02am)
  • DELETED I do actually. My impulsive, hyperactive decisions have definitely put me back in some ways, but in others its given me experiences and learning I never would have gotten otherwise. I've been suicidal, even had a noose round my neck at some point, but didn't follow through. And am totally aware my impulsive decisions got me into an unfortunate position where I felt like killing myself. I struggled to have a girlfriend for longer than 2 months due to my ADHD caused anxiety and depression ruining not only relationships, but even my ability to recognise a good partner. But eventually I met someone intelligent, loving and patient who understands and appreciated my quirks. And as I get older (although I'm only 28) I'm learning to understand and manage my mental health, and uses it to enable my interests and creativity to flourish. Seeing many my friends earn more money than me because they didn't keep changing path is frustrating, but then like I say, I've had other experiences they haven't, like move from south England to Scotland, travel a bit, go back to education, and more. I've never been able to hold a job for more than 15 months because I get restless. I took years out to mess out with my savings, did a multidisciplinary masters to cater to my broad interests, now gone back to work for just over a year now, but looking to switch to another career path. Just give it time, follow your interests, and try your best to recognise when you're being impulsive and then, pause. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 9:12am)
  • I disagree. From an evolutionary perspective, ADHD, alongside things like autism, asperger's, anxiety, can be highly advantageous, as long they're part of a group of people of all types. Just because there is often neurological differences, doesn't mean it's not personality. That's what personality is afterall by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 9:15am)
  • We like to see these things as "different" when in reality it's societies notion of "normal" that makes ADHD etc seem like a condition in itself. It's only because society is designed in a way that disrespects diversity, and is far removed from our social reality as a species, that'd ADHD means some people find it hard to function in this society. I have ADHD but there's zero reason why I would want to numb my quirks just to make me "normal". Those quirks have helped me in great many other ways. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 9:20am)
  • DELETED Not sure why you're being so hostile. That's not information. The whole point of ADHD medication is obviously to reduce ADHD traits, otherwise they wouldn't be taken. I want to keep those traits. My question for you is, have you taken them? If yes, fine, your experience is that they didn't numb you. But my experience is that they *did* numb me. Let's learn to accept differing opinions and experiences please. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 9:29am)
  • DELETED OP is clearly feeling very down, and based on one of his comments, suicidal. I'm seeing the positive in this to help him. I'm blatantly aware of the struggles with ADHD, of which is clear in my original comment about my own experience. There are positives to ADHD and your negativity isn't helping anyone. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 9:34am)
  • DELETED No, I'm being positive, there's a difference. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 9:32am)
  • What is wrong with people like you. I'm being honest about my experience, including suicidal actions, and yet because I'm trying to be positive it get's shot down. I struggle with it DAILY, yet because I'm saying anything at all positive I get shot down. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 9:53am)
  • DELETED FYI not self diagnosed. Not yet diagnosed but referred by GP for diagnosis. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 9:51am)
  • DELETED You have no idea what my experience is. Nor do I have any reason to lie. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 12:09pm)
  • DELETED That's not contradictory. Do you think ADHD only starts after diagnosis? by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 12:07pm)
  • DELETED Nope. Prescribed before thorough diagnosis. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 20th Dec 2022 12:13pm)
  • With Lowther Homes at least, you usually have to apply directly for a property that appears on rightmove. Lowther are useless, and people on their waiting lists rarely get a response. If you can avoid Lowther, I would. They never apply to emails, never follow up on calls that they say they will, and their contractors are trash. They leave things broken in your flat and don't intend to fix them until you pressure and call them 20+ times. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 14th Mar 2023 5:10pm)
  • Yeah the flat themselves are nice. I'm in a new build too (2.5 years). But when things break they're so so bad at fixing them. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Tue 14th Mar 2023 5:41pm)
  • I got bored of that sorta thing at 19... you're completely justified, especially since your partner isn't communicating with you. by LaceTheSpaceRace (Thu 23rd Mar 2023 10:52am)
