  • I can't believe what I'm seeing. After all these years, after all the advancements in technology, and here you are still filming on a potato. Jeez even ma Gran's Doro phone has more megapixels. • Once you get above 80mb is there really any noticeable difference? Downloading/streaming etc? I always thought it best to consider bandwidth rather than speed. We have a lot of devices connected to our hub, so being able to do a lot of things at the same time was a better measure. Was with virgin at c.300mb, but kept getting drop out. Moved to BT, getting "only" 60-80mb, but the hub seems far superior, don't get any connection issues and when steaming something/downloading something, the time it takes is negligible vs. virgin by NimrodPing (Wed 29th Jun 2022 9:08am)

  • Pretty simple in my mind. Health and education already under Scottish parliament control. Both shocking and standards continue to fall. No answers on currency. Last time the conversation was all about how oil rich we were, this time it'll be null and void by Agenda 30. Don't see the point of voting for independence from Westminster and then immediately signing up to be controlled by Brussels. This time around there's going to be extra issues with a hard border. Etc. by NimrodPing (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 7:10am)
  • Not at all. I'm happy to have my mind changed. But in the "debate" leading up to 2014, and in the conversation since, I've not been convinced that leaving the UK is the right way forward by NimrodPing (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 2:03pm)
  • Oh, so you know which currency we'll be using, do you? Cos no one else has been told. You in on the secret plan where Nicola isn't really going to try take us back into the EU are you? Nice one. • Well that was fun! Took us about 3.5 hours, and according to the Fitbit was just shy of 6.8 miles (18k steps). The art is amazing, some of the locations not so much (quite a few down alleys and lanes absolutely honking of piss). We got to all the locations easily enough, a couple of points (based on the map in the URL above) - 6/7 are at the same location on the map, but we couldn't find #7 - 33 is in a locked compound, but you can see it from the lane - 29 is mapped incorrectly. It's the other side of Nelson Street - 15 is missing. That whole stretch of art (including the Mona Lisa) has been removed as they've all that building work going on in York Street. - 28 no longer there (was looking forward to that one) A few have been defaced including the shadow hand puppets (20) and Glasgow panda (13). Arseholes. All in all though, an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday. by NimrodPing (Sun 7th Aug 2022 4:05pm)

  • Start with the river. That's why we're all here. The river being there is why Glasgow even exists in the first place. So let's invest in it. Look at places like Liverpool (which can be compared in so many ways with Glasgow) and what they've done with their waterfront and docks. Invest in the river and the rest will follow, as history teaches us. by NimrodPing (Thu 11th Aug 2022 11:51am)

If they put their prices up during your contract, outwith the period where you've agreed to price changes (probably March for CPI), then they'll let you leave at that point without being held to term. Other than that, you've agreed a contract with them so you'll need to accept that as fact. by NimrodPing (Mon 15th Aug 2022 9:52am)

  • Parking in private car parks (not on the street / council car parks - whose fines you should and must pay) is all about acceptance of a contract. Fundamentally if it ever went to court they would need to have proof that you read and agreed to the terms and conditions of the car park that explains the times and charges (like CCTV of you physically reading them). It's contract law, not criminal law, that's why it's a charge, not a fine. They're trying to charge you for breach of contract ( which you can always explain away as never accepting). That's why it's possible to ignore them. by NimrodPing (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 8:52am)

  • If they sound hollow, and you can't find studs, they've probably been refurbished with dot and dab. Therefore it's probably plasterboard with a roughly 1" gap where the adhesive is, then the original wall behind. If so, you've got two choices. Get specific fixings for plasterboard, including ones that can grip behind in the void, or drill far enough in so that you hit the original wall and fix into that. by NimrodPing (Mon 29th Aug 2022 1:14pm)

They literally spent hundreds of thousands, if not millions, to move across the border into Glasgow city council catchment area. Anyway, Robroyston is ok for transport seeing as the park and ride is now open. Suggest going up the the hill a bit to bishopbriggs though.
