  • Really surprised with the strong consensus in this sub to ban them. I'm not sure on my position but my dog does have a tough time with them also. Personally I don't think I'd care if they were banned for public sale. Edit: I wonder what the oppinon of the health service personnel, police and firefighters would be. I suspect they'd support a ban. That's a democratic I tend to agree with. by OriVox (Mon 4th Feb 2019 10:00am)
  • Quite the hyperbole. The driving of cars at each other and poisoning of people is already banned and the ban is enforced rather strongly. The mitigation of risk can only be done to the extent that it's practical. Banning cars and bleach is not practical but I'm afraid not selling fireworks to anyone who wants them is. by OriVox (Mon 4th Feb 2019 10:13am)

  • I wouldn't go 20% over in the southside unless you absolutely wanted it. Some properties will go for home report value. I don't have the figures to back this up. But I read that the highest average "offers over" area in Scotland was an Edinburgh postcode. And their average offers over was less than 10%. Don't go in thinking you're definitely going to have to put above the home report. by OriVox (Wed 13th Mar 2019 12:26pm)
  • I'm weary of solicitor advice. I think they'll recommend higher offers to get the job done. It's not in their interest to have a cautious buyer bet out bidded on several properties. When they could just encourage a generous bid to seal the deal. by OriVox (Wed 13th Mar 2019 12:30pm)

  • If it were me I'd plan a move and tell the landlord I was moving unless something was done about it. Going through the factors and getting the other (I assume) 6 flats to agree on a new door entry system is the correct thing to do and you should contact them. However, it's a chore to get anything done this way, even if you own the place. Let alone renting it. That adds another challenge. Unless everyone agrees straight away to change the door, they'll drag it out for months/years. by OriVox (Sun 22nd Dec 2019 2:02pm)
  • Thanks for the thorough reply. Gid dug. So it's possible to be convicted for assault with a deadly weapon without physically harming someone or having a deadly weapon? Fair game. No sympathy for anyone who gets a harsh sentace for unduly waving a gun around. by OriVox (Sun 22nd Dec 2019 8:54pm)

  • Probably [cotton fever](https://www.addictioncampuses.com/blog/cotton-fever-from-iv-drug-use/) Suspect to be caused by contamination in the filter used to draw the heroin through; > Certain Gram-negative bacteria live on the cotton plant. These bacteria produce an endotoxin which is carried through to drug and subsequently to the patient, causing fever. Blood cultures do support this theory, as certain bacteria have been found in the used cotton which was linked to the illness. by OriVox (Mon 10th Feb 2020 9:27pm)

  • Gorbals? by OriVox (Fri 24th Apr 2020 12:37pm)
  • Aye I was there. Everyone's saying it got ruined by bams turning up and causing problems. Which is kind of true, only an idiot throws a glass bottle into a random crowd etc. My memory is slightly different, the crowd was mostly just having fun being out but the catalyst was when the music got turned off. Be it by the police or whatever. Not sure. Then the crowd kind of imploded on itself. Restless booing starts and then a bottle or two get thrown and then the police come in and it kicked off. I legged it our of there. To be honest, there is a reason mass gatherings like this need some kind of organisation. Not saying they can't happen without bother - but there were at least a couple thousands people there and it's gonna be a risk that it goes sour without proper entertainment and security. by OriVox (Fri 8th May 2020 12:33am)
  • Not how I remember it. The police well reacted to bottles getting thrown and things degenerating in general. They never caused it to kick off. They might have shutdown the sound system and that's when it got sour. But they never charged in until it kicked off. by OriVox (Fri 8th May 2020 12:37am)

  • I've looked into this subject before and apparently top floors are the preferred flat to get broken into. Less chance of someone walking past a front door that has been booted in. by OriVox (Sun 4th Oct 2020 12:43am)
  • Provided there wasn't an opportunistic entry through an open window. I'm willing to bet most burglaries are done through the front door. It's not hard to get into a close. Either way, not saying it's my opinion. This was a statistic I read a few years ago. Don't have a source for it now. by OriVox (Sun 4th Oct 2020 1:20am)

  • https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myglasgow.council.app Download the app and get reporting. Honestly, sometimes they need to be told to empty the bins to no fault of their own. Some bins get filled before their schedule. There has to be at least 20 people who used that bin when it was full. They're just as much at fault as the council. by OriVox (Sat 7th Nov 2020 5:00pm)

  • Check out Rightmove app for rentals. For an affordable one bed I'd say you want to budget at least £650 for rent, council tax and bills. Obviously you can find cheaper but you have a bit of choice around that budget. by OriVox (Thu 25th Mar 2021 11:03am)

  • >You can buy as many houses as you want, but if someone wants to actually live there, you need to prove that you do, else they get to buy it off you for the market value. • I'm such a pacifist that I could be called a shitebag. But you can't be handing out a penny to pricks like this. Let alone £200. I guarantee if you went to the cash machine to give them the £200 it would quickly become whatever your max withdrawal is plus your other cards. Then maybe a beating to keep you quiet. A better response if you actually think they're going to get handy is to run away screaming. Edit: >Being serious though Sorry, just picked up on that. Just be aware of whatever the price of gold is at the time and try to get as close to it as possible by visiting a few places and haggling. • There are night coaches. I'm sure I got one for ~£20 one way. Get on at buchanan street at 23:00 and arrive in London 06:00 with one stop about Manchester I think. All approximate. Pretty decent way to get down if you manage to sleep. Going down with a mate so you're not seated next to another random is a bonus. I wouldn't Megabus it. Night coach seems like a good compromise. Though at the moment, i wouldn't fancy 8hrs on a covid coach. If you fly it's limited time and everyone is wearing a mask. by OriVox (Thu 24th Jun 2021 5:45pm)

  • Having that stable income is the main thing. At 18, min wage and 40hr a week you'll be taking home £1111.58 per month. It's tight but as a single person it can be done. How much you want in the bank to make a move is inversely proportional to your desire to get out of the house! More is obviously better but I'd say £1000 at an absolute min. £1500-£2000 preferably. by OriVox (Fri 12th Nov 2021 2:52am)
  • Robbery is theft with violence, threatened or actual. by OriVox (Wed 17th Nov 2021 2:41pm)
  • To be fair, it's actually pretty hard to get a custodial sentence for a single non violent crime (depending or severity) in Scotland. People who are getting jailed for drug offences etc usually are repeat offenders or have a considerable record. It isn't like some places where your getting time for being caught with a bag of coke on you. Cunts like this are a danger to society though and should not be getting out early at all. by OriVox (Wed 17th Nov 2021 2:45pm)
