  • The club was pish, it was lowest common denominator stuff for folk who thought they were somehow better than The Garage... Decent gig venue but and very central, and an unusual venue which I am sorry Glasgow will lose. by Thekeeperswarrior (Thu 7th Feb 2019 1:49am)
  • Me too!! by Thekeeperswarrior (Wed 20th Feb 2019 12:43am)
  • Does "public inquiry" mean charges could be brought? 2 blazes in quick succession suggests negligence at best. by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 8th Mar 2019 3:39pm)

  • What part of the park is the "wildlife haven"? Asking for a friend 😂 Seriously, am in there at least twice a week running from pond to battlefield and I've never seen any of this dirty filthy action. In fact, I've only ever seen one big flagpole. I feel cheated. by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 18th Jun 2019 11:51pm)
  • Oh no wish I had seen this on Sunday - went searching for a peshwari naan, completely missed Ambala, guy in Khyber Pass lectured me about how a peshwari naan wasn't a ral thing and then gave me the most garlicy naan I have ever had in my life.. by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 18th Jun 2019 11:55pm)
  • Yeah I know, amazing but my 3 year old might not quite get how wonderful it is. If he was a bit older I would just go for it by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 5th Jul 2019 8:41am)
  • Oh I meant as in recommendedations for folk who pave driveways. Thanks! by Thekeeperswarrior (Wed 10th Jul 2019 10:50pm)
  • Yes seems bizarrely as if everyone was stopped in the middle of packing up. Anytime I was in when it was Lebowskis, service was really slow and the music was far too loud... by Thekeeperswarrior (Sun 28th Jul 2019 9:46pm)
  • Cripes! Surely can't be true by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 29th Jul 2019 8:58pm)
  • Amazing nonsense here, imagine the Music Licensing Police preparing to swoop on Roukenglen Park if De La Soul play anything from 3 feet High and rising 😂.. I didn't actually go to this as I had several bandstand gigs, camera obscura, and fringe tickets already. But - I think eh promoters (whoever they are) deserve credit for trying something new and fun for Glasgow. Lauryn Hill booking looked a bad choice from day one unfortunately, I wonder why they went ahead with it. by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 6th Aug 2019 6:52am)
  • I think its a pretty good rendering of Billy as an older man. John Byrne just has that talent. It's caught his recent stare, which I think is a result of illness. Might have been better to have a mural of him in his prime though. by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 9th Aug 2019 11:52pm)
  • Yeah at least you can tell what hes saying, have heard this character a few times now :-) by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 2nd Sep 2019 10:37pm)
  • Arguably more going on in strathbungo area now than byres Road area. It's great and you have Pollok park and Queens Park and the really beautiful maxwell Park on you doorstep by Thekeeperswarrior (Sat 28th Sep 2019 12:28am)
  • Knew which Park it would be before looking. Genuinely pre planned? It's a rough park by Thekeeperswarrior (Sat 28th Sep 2019 12:30am)

  • Hi folks I've checked with Rouken Glen and they say they can deliver 40l bags at about £5 per bag. Fiver delivery. I think I will need about 30 bags. Is £5 for 40l a good deal? I'm fairly clueless about the usual cost of garden stuff. Thank you. by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 24th Apr 2020 12:50pm)
  • I walked along kelvin way on Wednesday. Really very pleasant. I was idly wondering about the pros and cons of having it permanently closed to cars. Is it really an overflow for the museum i.e. are there tail backs on to it? I have never noticed that. If it was shut, it would put a lot of traffic through byres Road. Which is presumably contrary to the various plans to improve the pedestrian experience on byres Road. A few weeks ago, someone on here posted old maps which showed that kelvin way didn't become a road until, I think, the 1930s. by Thekeeperswarrior (Sun 21st Jun 2020 7:21am)
  • I cant think what subway journey this might have been.. Yorkhill to great western road or vice versa? by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 10th Jul 2020 11:09pm)
  • Fabulous photo. Ive added a commsnt above asking if this was manipulated at all? I have a p20 but i cant see it getting any kind of snap like this! by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 13th Jul 2020 10:03pm)
  • Is this photo altered on-camera or on-phone? I was in reykjavik in march and the northern lights photos i saw from the tour i was on were (sadly) much more luminous and colourful ymthan what i actually saw with my naked eye by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 13th Jul 2020 10:01pm)

  • Have you considered Pollokshields and using the subway? From a flat in (for example) Kenmure St you could be at queen st in literally 15 mins (via shields road subway). I did that commute 3 times per week for 7 months. Prior to that i did it from hyndland for over 2 years. That became fairly tough. I would buy ten flexi passes (ten was max allowed) which worked out cheaper per journey than return tickets. by Thekeeperswarrior (Thu 27th Aug 2020 11:57pm)
  • Cathcart is absolutely fine. Theres more to that stabbing story than some random attack. 2 suspects departed in an audi. Simshill is fine too, its just peaceful suburban houses as far as o can tell whenever i jog through it. Linn Park is a terrific park on your doorstep too by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 4th Sep 2020 9:31pm)
  • Burrell Collection deserves a mention, re-opening is now postponed until 2021. by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 15th Sep 2020 11:18pm)

  • I leave a book swap/giveaway outside my house most days, would be delighted to take the dvds and/or any books thanks by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 21st Sep 2020 11:31pm)
  • My wife runs quite early in the morning - where did this assault take place please? I'm struggling a bit with running outside in this weather. I'm trying to run at lunchtimes. by Thekeeperswarrior (Thu 29th Oct 2020 12:23am)
  • I would say unless you are under 30, strathbungo and pollokshields are far nicer than finnieston or merchant city (main attractions of which are the bars with all their social and unfortunately anti social repercussions). And aye ok some of the merchant city architecture is stunning. by Thekeeperswarrior (Thu 29th Oct 2020 12:29am)
  • I paid around £2600 via Buttercup in west end. That included cosmetic work at the end as a few stubborn teeth hadnt completely moved into place. Service was fantastic and i was delighted with the outcome. Its an uncomfortable 8 or 9 months but really worth it. by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 23rd Nov 2020 12:09am)
  • I don't understand how you can liquidate the company which owns the assets then juat acquire the assets (but no debts) with a new company? by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 23rd Nov 2020 12:20am)
  • I run through the main st quite often. Jogging. Not cos I'm gettung chased. Anyway i never see anything, it seems totally sedate? by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 1st Dec 2020 12:04am)
  • You can go round edge of queens park, kings park, Battlefield, Victoria road, Kilmarnock road easy enough. Only the more residential streets are tricky. It's snowing again just now mind you.. by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 8th Jan 2021 12:46am)
  • This is excellent. I will definitely be ordering pronts. I would love a Glasgow version of "the north bridge". The view from the Lighthouse is great if you are looking for a 2021 project.. 😁👌 by Thekeeperswarrior (Sat 23rd Jan 2021 8:08am)
  • This is terrific thank you. A wee drunk/hungover guy approached me before the manchester marathon in 2019 and when he heard my accent said he had ran a glasgow marathon in the 80s. Thought he was just steaming and talking nonsense. But he was right! by Thekeeperswarrior (Wed 27th Jan 2021 11:37pm)

  • Run up and access Kelvin Walkway from Ford Road/Addison Road. Run towards kelvingrove then make your way home along Dumbarton Road. Will be bit longer than a 5k but very scenic. by Thekeeperswarrior (Wed 3rd Mar 2021 11:34pm)
  • The state that large patch of bellahouston park was left in was a disgrace, presumably the damage was worse than expected because of all the (extra) rainfall around the time of the gigs. Still amazing that there wasn't an obligation on the promoters to fix it afterwards. Where does the money for these events from the promoters go? What does the council do with it? I've always been interested in the economics of it - would it not be cheaper for the promoters to hire one of the Glasgow stadiums? by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 4th Jun 2021 6:56am)
  • Yes would be good to know what part, I run there quite often. Sorry about your camera OP. by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 4th Jun 2021 7:13am)

  • https://www.scottishconstructionnow.com/articles/farrans-in-line-for-govan-to-partick-crossing-as-costs-soar-towards-ps30m Pretty cool that there will be a bridge. Costs have risen a mere £12m from the original £17m estimate 😂😂😂 who is making money out of this? by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 9:10am)
  • Terrific, great guy who serviced my pioneer mixers just before lockdown last year. by Thekeeperswarrior (Sat 18th Dec 2021 12:54am)
  • Drygate used to do days where they would take you through steps of brewing a batch of your own lager/beer (from a menu of around 12 different types) . It was great value - loads of bottles (at least 20) for £50. by Thekeeperswarrior (Sat 18th Dec 2021 1:02am)
  • What pocket was your phone in? That's disappointing by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 22nd Feb 2022 12:34am)
  • I assume they didn't fill it? But ambitious. I've mostly stood at gigs there. Sat for nick Cave. Felt pretty removed from the action. For a purpose built venue the seats do seem a wee bit away by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 22nd Feb 2022 12:41am)
  • Recommendations for places up Pollokshaws Road are a bit mental as they are literally a mile past the venue. Sloans, Ad Lib or Stereo all plausible and near Central. by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 8th Mar 2022 10:58pm)
  • Pretty much exactly this. The bit where everyone at the GFT (?) turn into puppets? Nightmare fuel. In a good way. I wonder also if him painting oran mors ceiling was the owners wanting life to imitate art? I can't see any confirmation of that anywhere by Thekeeperswarrior (Wed 11th May 2022 1:48am)

  • Heard there was one down by the river last weekend and there was a guy selling booze out of a car boot. Possibly called "shower room" by the cool kids lolz? Dunno if it's near or at the new box hub place. Girl who told me was sketchy on details. maybe been too drunk/high when there, or maybe thought I would blab about it on reddit.. by Thekeeperswarrior (Sun 4th Sep 2022 12:13am)
  • Hahaha did she only have a bra on to start with? One of the folk with the frozen faces that Kevin was laughing at :-)? Do you know what was going on in the crowd 3/4 of the way through? There was a lot of shouting from a section of the floor. He said he was hoping it wasn't another punch-up. I think his crowd seems rough just because its so many people overall. More than 10% of the population of Glasgow must be attending one of these shows. by Thekeeperswarrior (Sat 10th Sep 2022 5:01am)
  • Making me laugh out loud. He pronounced "serpent" so strangely. Took an already amusing piece of footage to a new level. by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 16th Sep 2022 8:34pm)
  • Who are the musicians? Genuinely interested. And does anyone actually call it Butt Pig? Why did the version at Shawlands cross fail? I was in a few times, seemed very dark, excessively so. by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 16th Sep 2022 8:31pm)
  • What was the optimo connection? I was in once, years ago. Cos my pal thought it was owned by optimo. I wondered if it was just bollocks by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 16th Sep 2022 8:44pm)
  • Aye. "our pals can do that". The approach of the groom to any part of the wedding he is too tight to pay for, and thinks can somehow be performed to an average standard by potentially drunk guests. by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 10th Oct 2022 7:06am)
  • There were complaints a few years ago that they weren't paying acts but I thought that had been sorted out. I thought on paper it was a pretty impressive line up. Several of the acts on the bill would have commanded pretty big fees. Did not enough people turn up? The posters I saw on the subway had a quote "like a mini Scottish Glastonbury". Can't recall who it was attributed to. Certainly sounds fanciful. I attended the first ever one and it was absolutely chaotic. And very wet and muddy unfortunately. by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 17th Oct 2022 8:09am)

  • They built so close to the motorway so they wouldnt ever be short of drivers. All joking aside, and there's been some great jokes here why does it look like it's been designed so folk can shoot at the motorway? Is it to do with the sun? Serious question! by Thekeeperswarrior (Sat 26th Nov 2022 9:09pm)
  • You can't really walk from Ross Hall park along the white cart to pollok Park though can you? Are you talking about national cycle route 75? That's a lot of road and pavement. Though I run that from pollokshields to Paisley sometimes when I need to build up mileage. by Thekeeperswarrior (Sun 4th Dec 2022 11:55pm)

  • Dont recall any particular purple patch, the Shed seemed to be for folk without a taxi fare to the Garage, tusk seemed to have a bizarre problem with violent incidents. Did G1 sell it to Spoons? by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 3rd Feb 2023 11:04pm)
  • What happened to the litter vigilante guy? I quite liked the absurdly horrific tidy up tasks he was setting himself in obscure b-Road hard shoulders and cul de sacs by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 21st Feb 2023 1:00am)
  • Top room of Sloans is a great shout. Think whole savings bank would cost in region of £500 and will also look empty unless there's at least 50 folk there. by Thekeeperswarrior (Tue 28th Feb 2023 12:23am)

  • Delighted to see a mention of Swing Hammer Swing. Set in Gorbals/Oatlands in the 60s The first part of Lanark is unmistakably Glasgow Central - Hope St - GFT and is fantastic. • Swing Hammer Swing, windswept and Interesting, red Dust Road, retired Teenagers, the Cutting Room, the Dark Remains, the amateurs (maybe more Ayrshire not Glasgow, but brilliant) Lanark is incredible but not "heartwarming", Shuggie Bain seemed very cruel to its female characters, Buddha Da sometimes gets mentioned in this context but I thought it wasnt great, James Kelman novels are set in Glasgow but imo are pretty hard going. by Thekeeperswarrior (Wed 19th Jul 2023 11:46pm)

  • flexi tickets are perhaps vulnerable to this sort of fraud (using one £10ish flexi ticket for 2 journeys - maybe 2 swipes aren't permitted hours apart, I don't know) but also assumed purchases of cheap tickets in order to open barriers would be monitored. In summer of 2017 when the express line was being electrified and you had to travel on the slow train via Airdrie, I fairly regularly heard Glasgow commuters claiming they'd boarded at Edinburgh Park or similar. Is the Garelochhead story being publicised? There was a guy in London who paid up £40k for a barrier - ticket fraud, from memory. by Thekeeperswarrior (Wed 23rd Aug 2023 1:17am)

  • Folk more ITK will keep me right but optimo seem to have moved on to fortnightly parties at the Berkley suite. I think anyone over 30 would be more comfortable there than sub club. Have noted some imo disrespectful whingeing online that the flagship sub club DJs are over 50. by Thekeeperswarrior (Sun 10th Sep 2023 1:08am)
  • Recently read "Brickwork", the history of The Arches. Unclear why the licensing board is letting Watchtower have a go now, when back in 2015 they denied the right to promoters etc who had been staging almost completely safe parties at the Arches for over a decade. by Thekeeperswarrior (Mon 11th Sep 2023 11:44pm)

  • Lived there throughout the noughties as I couldn't afford the west end, basically. Had a handful of mad daytime pub crawls. A very drunk hogmanay in the granary. There was a nightclub called The Cell on Kilmarnock road that I think only ever had punters from Castlemilk. Tusk was a lovely building and I had a few nights in there tanking red wine (must have been an odd promo), but it always seemed half empty, and also acquired a terrifying reputation for folk getting glassed. The chat was g1 was going to make it a cinema which would have been good as the whole area seemed a cultural wasteland. Went to The Shed a few times and found it a weird experience. Like an even more shite and provincial version of The Garage. Down the road, the pub that would become the rum shack was pretty rough. There always seemed to be punch-ups in Danny singhs after midnight. Hayes clothes shop, and stalks and stems, were good. The Waverley tea rooms was a g1 place but had a south facing balcony which was good for a few pints. The idea of voluntarily going on a full night out in shawlands seemed like condemning yourself to a very dull and possibly randomly violent evening. I liked hanging about Beanscene but I'm sure it collapsed with the sort of rancour and rumours of financial foul play that would set the tone for southside hospitality ventures. Lana del rey was indeed occasionally spotted. She was with a guy from Kassidy. He got a co-write on at least one of her songs. Well played. The area definitely looks nicer now with the bit outside the halls and the wider pavements. by Thekeeperswarrior (Fri 22nd Sep 2023 12:36am)
