  • Look for an adult apprenticeship, most of the big companies do them. If you can’t see any phone/e-mail the companies directly and just ask, a lot of firms prefer adult apprenticeships. Try and avoid the couple of week course that are advertised, there pretty useless for getting a job after words, the companies always prefer hiring those with a recognised apprenticeship by ZT0141 (Sun 24th Oct 2021 2:07am)
  • Not me personally but I’ve worked with a few guys who have as adult apprentice electricians. Don’t know about other trades but the adult apprentices are guaranteed 37.5 hours a week at a tenner per hour which isn’t too bad a deal by ZT0141 (Sun 24th Oct 2021 8:14pm)

  • You’ll need to complete the SECTT test first then approach companies offering apprenticeships. I think 25 is the cut off for traditional apprentices so you would need to go down the adult apprentice route. Most of the main SJIB contractors would offer this. If you want a list of companies that regularly recruit apprentices DM me mate. by ZT0141 (Thu 6th Jan 2022 10:38am)
  • What certification is your employer offering apprentices if you don’t mind me asking? by ZT0141 (Thu 6th Jan 2022 10:44am)

  • “Electrician apprenticeship” in the title and “Career as electrician” in the first sentence kind of gives it away by ZT0141 (Thu 6th Jan 2022 4:02pm)
  • Your employer uses people with no practical experience to undertake electrical installations? DM me there name if you wouldn’t mind by ZT0141 (Thu 6th Jan 2022 4:35pm)

  • I think it’s acceptable to be raging that your getting priced out your own area by ZT0141 (Fri 14th Jan 2022 10:02pm)
  • The average in Scotland is now just over 1 child per household. The Scottish born population is actually decreasing! The high demand for homes in these areas is from yuppie/hipster type people who are not actually from the area all wanting to now live in the area. That’s what’s making areas (like battlefield) property prices increase at a faster rate than other areas thus pricing out and displacing the locals. by ZT0141 (Fri 14th Jan 2022 11:08pm)
  • Referring to the southside, I’d make a guess that 90% of these hipster type people aren’t actually from here! Based off my own experience, In my close of 8 I’m the only person that was born and raised in the area. I’m the only person with family in the area. I’m also the only person with a “real Glaswegian” accent. That wasnt the case 10 years ago, the area has changed. The 10 to 20% increase on properties has been pretty much across the bored since COVID. Combine that with The Southside seeming to now be attracting a huge demographic of young professionals with 2 incomes and no kids yet who want to live close to town to move here, you’ve got the people who moved to Glasgow for uni decided they quite like the city and stayed, the middle class kids of the east ren crowd with massive gifted cash deposits, private land lords swallowing up anything that’s a decent price, kids from smaller towns and villages looking to live there twenty’s in a trendy area of the big city, London / S.E of England folk who no longer need to live there due to working from home and could never buy there looking for something to buy thats more affordable, and the traditional west end arty folk who want something larger than their budget in the west end can stretch too. In addition to the lack of affordable house building by the government for many years you create a recipe for a hipster paradise with ridiculously high house prices and a strangely high amount of over priced coffee shops to serve the new locals. Pretty much means the original locals can’t really afford to live here anymore. The only friends/family I have left that are local are the ones that bought over 10 years ago. Everyone since then has had to move out else where. They still bought property just not couldn’t buy here as it’s too inflated. I here that flats here can often sell 30-40% over the home report (which is already inflated compared to the rest of Glasgow). by ZT0141 (Sat 15th Jan 2022 8:56am)
  • Their insurance is so expensive as they add a brokers fee on top of the insurance premium. I’ve questioned them before on it! by ZT0141 (Wed 19th Jan 2022 6:52pm)

  • DELETED London actually by ZT0141 (Tue 2nd Aug 2022 7:47pm)
  • The station refurbishment and resignalling to facilitate the new trains were 2 different contracts. The refurbishments we’re done first. The reason the stations appear unfinished is because the resignalling contractors need to “undo” what the refurbishment contractors have done to get access to install there own equipment. Seems a backwards way of issuing the contracts to me. by ZT0141 (Sun 8th Jan 2023 9:51am)
  • The only one is I feel like I believe to be true is the ghost that commits suicide at dalmarnock bridge. I know someone who claims to have seen it ha! https://www.higgypop.com/hauntings/dalmarnock-road-bridge/ by ZT0141 (Sat 4th Mar 2023 1:49pm)
  • I agree with just about everything you’ve said. My thought process being if millions around the world do it successfully why can’t we? There was no demand as the facilities weren’t built to support them, so is it a case that if they have the facilities then high rise living would become more desirable? The example I’m think of is the new buildings next the the daily records place. Probably around 18 high and have gyms, shops, communal spaces for residents to use built into the lower floors. Will these be successful? Time will tell! by ZT0141 (Sun 2nd Apr 2023 1:03pm)
  • What are the le corbusier ideas? by ZT0141 (Sun 2nd Apr 2023 9:16pm)
  • Yeah that’s the point I was trying to get at, if Glasgow done a second round of high living a more better way I feel it could be more successful this time around by ZT0141 (Mon 3rd Apr 2023 10:11am)

  • I can help explain the missing ceiling tiles. The ceilings were fully complete as part of the refurbishment project that was done in advance of the commonwealth games. The tiles have now been removed again as part of the resignaling project that is associated with the new trains. They’ve been taken out in order to install cabling that runs from the upstairs plant rooms down to the tunnels. For some reason SPT have effectively done these two projects in the wrong order. It’s like getting your house painted and decorated first then deciding to get an electrician rewire it second. SPT don’t have a project department to manage these type things snd forever make a mess of it. They bring in independent consultants to manage the works on their behalf. In my experience the consultants love it as they can charge a fortune and all these mistakes that happen are in their by interest as it keeps them in the subway for longer with a license to print money for themselves. by ZT0141 (Sun 26th Nov 2023 1:06pm)
  • Junkies are addicts who may well be homeless. However homeless people are not necessarily junkies. Walk through there at midnight on a weekday where there aren’t many folk going dancing and it’s all you’ll see. It’s not far off an open air drug market. The area needs some serious work done to it. Just because youve lived a sheltered life doesn’t mean others are too. by ZT0141 (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 9:09am)
  • DELETED Okay, it’s just you said junkies are addicts or homeless and I interpreted that as your understanding was a junkie can mean both. The government has made a publication saying they will not be using the terms junkie, alcoholic or addict as they are all offensive. The term you should be using if your trying to be break down stigma is "person with problematic substance use, person with harmful alcohol use, and person with problematic drug use”. I don’t have an issue with junkie or alcoholic. Have both in my immediate family and doesn’t offend anyone I know. So because some other cities have open drug dealing we should see that as acceptable for our city centre? And because you’ve never seen drug use in the area it doesn’t mean that it’s not a problem in the area. by ZT0141 (Sat 2nd Dec 2023 10:01am)
