  • We ended up donating it to cats protection and they came and collected it which was great by deformedworship (Tue 16th Jun 2020 10:54am)
  • Having tried to get rid of multiple things for free on gumtree and the market place, expect a lot of time wasters and idiots in my option. We tried to get rid of a big table that was in great condition and we had 3 people ask to collect it at different times and all made up stupid excuses. I don't think people realise not everything fits in a normal car?! Haha by deformedworship (Tue 16th Jun 2020 10:53am)
  • Stag and thistle and mango are defo doing pints. Both were delicious haha by deformedworship (Tue 16th Jun 2020 10:55am)
  • I'm glad I read this thread! We were going to see a duplex flat above a shop in pollockshields but we aren't going to bother now. Working in a kitchen myself I can only imagine how bad the smell is but everything that goes along with it makes it not worthwhile not to mention there always seems to be fires in pollockshields haha by deformedworship (Thu 8th Apr 2021 2:37pm)
  • Also another Glasgow charity called cat concern. by deformedworship (Wed 14th Apr 2021 10:30pm)
  • My friend very recently received a flat through Govan Hill housing association after being on the waiting list for just over a year. 1 bedroom, nice enough. Rent is £410ish a month but I'm sure you'll be higher priority due to the 6 months notice. I would get in touch. They were told they could view the property but they could turn down 1 but after that they had accept the next one. Bit of a tough one if you don't think the first one isn't great because the next one could be worse. Everything happened pretty quickly and the keys were handed over in a couple of days. They were able to claim a £50 voucher for refurbing the place. Good luck, hope you manage to get some answers soon by deformedworship (Tue 27th Apr 2021 1:09am)
  • Blocairn might be your best bet. My work gets a fresh veg delivery daily from seasonal produce who are based out the market. Amazing selection but you might need to buy a fair bit if you are showing up due to it being more wholesale. Mini markets pop up in the east end fairly often by deformedworship (Thu 3rd Jun 2021 12:33am)
  • I'm moving to Greenhead street overlooking the green next week and I'm honesty dreading it because of the events that are coming up. Amazing apart from that! What's it like staying by when events are on? I already work near merchant City and when TRNSMT was on a few years ago, it was hell on earth. Some amount of roasters! We are moving to a main door flat aswell and concerned about people coming into our gardens ugh by deformedworship (Thu 3rd Jun 2021 1:43pm)
  • The Glasgow Life gorbals gym has it all but unfortunately not accepting any new members atm but you can sign up for a notification. I've put myself on the list 2 weeks ago to get myself a space by deformedworship (Thu 3rd Jun 2021 1:59pm)
  • I love love salka yoga but they have taken a break during lock down and classes haven't restarted. Classes are £5 and mats are provided. Lovely instructors and it's pay as you go. Hopefully they restart soon. They had pop up classes so it used to be out of Argyle arcade above sloans and then move studio at the back of St enoch by deformedworship (Thu 3rd Jun 2021 3:45pm)
  • Never knew this! Thank you so much! by deformedworship (Fri 4th Jun 2021 3:22pm)
  • Good to know we can call 101 for this. This happens constantly at the back of my work (merchant city). My colleague walked out on someone tonight shooting up and he also apologised for yet still left all his needles. It got so bad out our back that we were all stressed about taking the bins out because we would constantly walk out on people shooting up or taking a fucking shit at our gate. Awful. Council want nothing to do with it. We had a new gate installed because our property is part of network rail and they cleaned it for us as a one off for its defo not the normal by deformedworship (Tue 15th Jun 2021 12:18am)
  • Mono by deformedworship (Sat 3rd Jul 2021 12:13am)
  • Put it on gumtree. We got rid of ours within 2 hrs! And we had a 3 bed flat move. Ended up getting like 15 messages, first one was within 1 minute of the post being up. People really appreciate free packing boxes. by deformedworship (Thu 29th Jul 2021 2:17am)
  • We offered home report in bridgeton and got the flat quickly. Some people want a quick sell, some people are greedy x by deformedworship (Fri 30th Jul 2021 3:14pm)
  • Second vote for Matthews and chans. Always do the rounds and seewoo has been empty for months and months. Really hit and miss.. Matthews and chans are always very well stocked by deformedworship (Thu 5th Aug 2021 11:05am)
  • Glasgow club you have to book through the app and its only 1 hr time slots that are fast/slow/mediun/family. They are booked up like at least a week at a time. Could maybe see if you can show up but wouldn't hold your breath by deformedworship (Sat 7th Aug 2021 12:14am)
  • Ka pao? Best food I've ever had in Glasgow and relaxed setting.. Not craaaaazy expensive by deformedworship (Mon 9th Aug 2021 7:32am)
  • Sally at curlach is brilliant! Works Friday and Saturdays atm by deformedworship (Mon 13th Sep 2021 11:48am)
  • I went a few years ago when it was at the trades Hall (think the Hampden event is just a bigger location) it was fine. The food was pretty overpriced and just okay. A lot of the stalls seem to do the rounds in Glasgow so will probably pop up at a free market in a few weeks time. Nice enough produce, just expensive for what it was and the same brands just do the rounds. They big it up that they are gonna have 80 stalls but in fact it's just loads of tatty clothes and soap stalls. They hardly ever post what stalls will actually be there aswell which was a bit of a hit or miss in the last few years. by deformedworship (Thu 23rd Sep 2021 8:12pm)
  • The gym on Bothwell Street used to always be dead after the offices finish. Busy at lunch time or just after work virtually no one is ever in at the weekends (I went for 2 years before I moved) it's certainly a lot quieter than the Jamaica Street one and it's normally got deals like no joining fee, first month £7.50. Not sure if that's helpful but also very central and the place is huge by deformedworship (Mon 27th Sep 2021 1:58pm)
  • Morrisons have vegan ones at their made fresh counter by deformedworship (Thu 7th Oct 2021 9:32am)
  • East end here and ours was just under a week although a lot of flats just leave stuff over by the fence and it gets uplifted quickly. A neighbour actually told us to leave it out on bin collection day and they would take it but we had an old wardrobe etc and I very much doubt they would take it. First time we arranged for an uplift they only emailed me at 1pm the day it was due to be uplifted which was incredibly annoying because I was already in work at that point and your not allowed to put it out until the very last minute. We didn't get a choice of date. They just said they would be in touch with a date and emailed later on. by deformedworship (Sun 17th Oct 2021 3:16pm)
  • You can get refunds for tickets for the Vue up to 3 hrs before the showing on their website. Had to use this the other cause I had to cancel. Very generous of you though! Film is amazing by deformedworship (Tue 26th Oct 2021 12:55pm)
  • I'm not sure if the sauna and steam room are open yet due to covid. The one at the gorbals still isn't open 😞 by deformedworship (Mon 1st Nov 2021 6:09pm)
  • Work in merchant City and yesterday and today have both been insanely quiet. Town was a ghost town yesterday! by deformedworship (Mon 1st Nov 2021 9:17pm)
  • I know, Saturday was mobbed because of the protest near Glasgow Green but seems to be putting normal folk off? IDK. Really was pretty nice wandering around on a Sunday with no one about Hahaha by deformedworship (Mon 1st Nov 2021 9:25pm)
  • Mono in Merchant City by deformedworship (Tue 2nd Nov 2021 6:03pm)
  • Just also a heads up that I (stupidly) cancelled my £10 monthly contract through my bank and not with them and then they charged me £120 at the end of the year because I hadn't cancelled my contract. Raging but didn't really think about it at the time. Started to get pissed off that every bike station I went to had broken bikes or no bikes at all to get to work. They also weigh a ton compared to a lot of other bikes. You could probably buy a bike for the same price if that's an option. I've never looked back since I got my own. Highly recommend bike for good! by deformedworship (Mon 8th Nov 2021 3:40pm)
  • They might have changed this over the last new months but you could pay £10 and the first 30 min was free and 50p after. Worked out cheaper if you were using it everyday but it was a rolling monthly contract by deformedworship (Tue 9th Nov 2021 11:48am)
  • Alexis Gauthier? by deformedworship (Tue 9th Nov 2021 9:55pm)
  • I Mart Oriental is normally stocked with ramen! Definitely bought them in here during lock down by deformedworship (Fri 19th Nov 2021 6:54am)
  • Mr Lim's near Mandors or Matthews. Stock in both these places is brilliant. A lot of the other supermarkets in town and bigger ones like seewoo have such low stock and not a great selection. by deformedworship (Fri 26th Nov 2021 10:36pm)
  • Cats concern is a great charity based in Glasgow and often have kittens or old cats avaliable. Think they just ask for a donation to the charity and aren't as strict by deformedworship (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 7:55pm)
  • Had mine on the Sunday 22nd. Had an appointment at 11.50 and they were letting people join the queue that also had appointments later that day. Had to wait 1 hr 30min. Partner had his at 11.50 on Monday 23rd and was in and out within 15min. Think with people finishing up work until after new year it might be busier just now? Also definitely avoid the weekends if you can by deformedworship (Tue 28th Dec 2021 10:59am)
  • Silk Road deli in Shawlands has a small selection. Chilli crisp, sauces, ramen etc by deformedworship (Tue 28th Dec 2021 11:04am)
  • Guessing I'm down voted because I posted Silk Road deli but knew nothing about this. Thanks! Any info on this? Instagram? Know nothing about the company just that they had a small selection because my friend told me about it who had to get chilli crisp by deformedworship (Tue 28th Dec 2021 5:58pm)
  • I've never had a problem booking one at the hockey centre at Glasgow Green. They normally have same day appointments a lot of the time. I live next to it and can honestly day out of the 10+ times I've had to get a PCR, I've never seen a single soul at the site to get tested apart from me. Could possibly try and walk up? Outside central station had a testing pod set up outside just before Christmas also if that's doable? I'm not sure where you stay though by deformedworship (Tue 28th Dec 2021 11:16pm)
  • Very weirdly I saw a cat that looked exactly like this on Broad Street in bridgeton running into the caravan park next to the industrial units this afternoon around 2pm. Didn't look like it was wearing a collar. Didn't respond to my pspspst so I could say hello which I tried in vain. Not sure if this is any help. Looked very very very like this cat. I was like wow that's a big fluffy cat! Hardly ever see cats that big and fluffy running about. I own a siberian which is huge which is why I was eager to say hello by deformedworship (Tue 28th Dec 2021 11:21pm)
  • Hey again, I've just filled in the pcr test booking site to check if it would give me appointments at the hockey center and its actually saying there's none in my area at all. Sorry! They seriously must be so overwhelmed. My brother booked yesterday for today at 5pm at the castlemilk testing site (he's in East kilbride) incase you want to try random ek postcodes etc. Castlemilk might be a little far tbh by deformedworship (Wed 29th Dec 2021 12:07am)
  • I went on the 22nd December to get tested (I had the booster and had a terrible reaction, was convinced I had covid) which came back in 24hrs and went for one on the 24th night in Belfast at a drive in center because my partner tested positive when we landed for Christmas (lol typical). They had a lot of appointments in both places. We managed to leave the house straight away because they had appointments 30 min from when my partners laterel was positive. The drive in in NI was absolute chaos though. He got his positive results within 27 hrs and I had to wait 48 hrs even though we got them done at the exact same time. Just heard on the radio that there's no appointments in NI or England but some in Scotland and Wales. Fuck knows where they are though! by deformedworship (Wed 29th Dec 2021 12:19pm)
  • I have been in the last 2 weeks though. I went on the 22nd and 24th and picked up a laterel flow test kit from a pharmacy yesterday with no problem. Just saying what I've experienced. Depends where you are in Glasgow. Seems like your trying to catch me out with my post but I'm just stating what I've experienced since the start of last week. Clearly it's different everywhere and everyone has different experiences by deformedworship (Thu 30th Dec 2021 11:07am)
  • Took a test at Glasgow Green at 10am yesterday, still waiting. Woman said up to 72 hrs by deformedworship (Sat 1st Jan 2022 10:37pm)
  • https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/glasgow/duncolm.shtml Is a pretty nice walk. Can walk a lot of different ways once you get to the top but it's pretty much next to old Kilpatrick station. by deformedworship (Tue 4th Jan 2022 10:22pm)
  • The 100 supermarket on Argyle Street (is it the one on trongate you used to go to?) has just moved to stockwell Street round the corner. It's across from argos. Think 100 supermarket and oaka are insanely overpriced. I Mart Oriental next to rufus t firefly and Mr lims have a great selection by deformedworship (Wed 5th Jan 2022 10:17pm)
  • The ones in Clarkson were always pretty good but haven't been since the pandemic by deformedworship (Sat 8th Jan 2022 11:40am)
  • Alot of my friends use peach Palace, whiplash or Courtney mackinnon by deformedworship (Sun 9th Jan 2022 5:14pm)
  • Damn. Okay thank you. It pops up when you first apply saying you might be eligible when I fill in the criteria but I'm definitely not on UC by deformedworship (Mon 10th Jan 2022 11:47am)
  • Sounds exactly like me. Contract is for 32 hrs and a small Glasgow business. Partner got covid on 24th December so I had to isolate and then I got covid on 30th December so I've missed like 2 plus weeks of work. Its been a wild ride lol by deformedworship (Mon 10th Jan 2022 12:14pm)
  • Booster shouldn't be an issue, surely? When I filled in the form online there was nothing about having to show a positive laterel flow or pcr on the actual website but I'm assuming they get in touch about this because I know they want test and protect info. If you've got test and protect then surely he would have got pinged which would show he has to self isolate? by deformedworship (Mon 10th Jan 2022 1:09pm)
  • Totally! The waiting time has been pretty crazy but understandable. Do you know how long your partner waited before for the money? by deformedworship (Mon 10th Jan 2022 1:34pm)
  • Yup, all filled out. Although GCC being GCC means it will no doubt take ages on top of the massive influx of people applying. I've filled in all the criteria and it says you may still qualify for this grant so filled out the from. Just spoke to my friend who is self employed and she's not heard anything since November 😑 by deformedworship (Mon 10th Jan 2022 2:44pm)
  • Rather confused about the figures. It says this when you check if you can apply. I earn no where near £1608 but earn over the poverty pay. "Check if you’re able to get Self-Isolation Support Grant Do you earn less than £1608.75 per month? This amount is before deductions. For example, tax and National Insurance. Do not include the earnings of anyone else – the £1608.75 figure applies to you only. Even if you earn more than £1608.75 you may still be able to apply if your overall household income is below a certain amount. We'll ask you about this in the next questions." by deformedworship (Mon 10th Jan 2022 9:42pm)
  • Unfortunately still haven't heard anything today so I had to use my holidays. I'm assuming this means I wouldn't be valid for the grant if I try and apply again. Didn't really have a choice because I've got dental work to pay for tomorrow and I won't get any work pay if I don't take holidays. Shite. by deformedworship (Tue 11th Jan 2022 7:38pm)
  • Great dentist! I went on Wednesday for a check up. They still aren't doing any cosmetic dental work (scale and polish) and there's still a big waiting list for any NHS work so bare this in mind OP if you feel like you need work done. A scale and polish alone is £99. Check up is free, x rays super cheap by deformedworship (Fri 14th Jan 2022 7:09am)
  • I know.. Mental! That's private prices of course but the NHS won't do this it because it's deemed cosmetic and not urgent by deformedworship (Fri 14th Jan 2022 12:33pm)
  • Some pictures from tonight of the set up. Wish Parnie Street looked like this all the time. I work next to it and it seems to be a different set up every day but looks like they are actually changing a lot more shops today if people are heading down (https://imgur.com/gallery/XnTOjFC) by deformedworship (Sat 15th Jan 2022 7:09pm)
  • Try cat concern. I bought items off of the woman on Facebook who runs the charity. Such a lovely woman who clearly just loves caring for cats. They often get kittens or indoor cats by deformedworship (Sat 15th Jan 2022 7:14pm)
  • Any idea on Suzanne's prices? The website I've came across seems to be more about a cake school than actually buying cakes. Just looks very very fancy so I Imagine it's ££££ by deformedworship (Tue 25th Jan 2022 8:13pm)
  • I think I should I missed out the term wedding all together when I did the enquires at first haha. Even when I suggested a birthday cake style sponge the answer was no. I guess not a lot of people order 3 tier birthday cakes? Maybe they don't want the stress of a wedding incase it's cancelled during a pandemic? I dunno. I can see their point but it's just frustrating people are marketing celebration cakes. Thankfully everyone on here has loads of good suggestions I wouldn't have found through Google! Haha by deformedworship (Tue 25th Jan 2022 9:24pm)
  • Went to Karen a few weeks back after moving to the area. She was lovely and pleased with my brows. I used to go to the superdrug on Argyle Street for their threading bar up the back before that. Was always pretty happy with them aswell but sometimes it's a wait if its busy by deformedworship (Tue 22nd Mar 2022 1:39pm)
  • Stayed in Ek for 25 years and grew up in West Mains. Definitely a lot mote affordable than Glasgow but it's still creeping up in price (my cousin just bought a house in West mains and had to pay a fair bit over) I couldnt wait to leave but was 25 by the time I left! It's just not kept up compared to Glasgow but the restaurants are so so much better since I left. Shops are okay but a lot of the main ones in the centre are shutting so you would need a car for groceries. The transport in Stewartfield/west mains/east mains is terrible and just too far to walk. Some really nice walks and places to go like the heritage Loch, Calder Glen Park for kids. Avoid Duncanrig! by deformedworship (Wed 15th Jun 2022 1:54pm)
  • 100% agree about belle and blackley. Really hated my experience with them. Woman basically told me I didn't need my hair cut and set it with the crispiest gel ever. Went home and washed my hair and never went back. by deformedworship (Tue 16th Aug 2022 1:19pm)
