  • Security can be backed up depending on just how many departures are scheduled that morning. 2 hour queue at security last Saturday morning as there was 7 jet2 737s all going out in a short period + all other airport traffic. Security is undermanned and recruiting so it really depends, I’d give yourself a bit of wriggle time by spannerthrower (Tue 10th May 2022 11:06am)

  • Yeah they are open weekends, although I don’t work Monday-Friday, I work 4 on 4 off. Back in the day I would pop in for stuff on the way home. Usually do a big shop on my days off but naturally when I’d need to grab stuff on the go I’d pick it up at silly o’clock on my way home from nights. Now I need to drag myself out the house/bed early before work get what I need, take it home then go for my nightshift. by spannerthrower (Fri 27th May 2022 12:15pm)

Worse when I have my kids with me, he will not let any other dog near which actually makes our walks uncomfortable as I need to avoid cunts with wild off lead cockapikachu or whatever ewok looking thing they are spending silly money on now. by spannerthrower (Tue 21st Jun 2022 11:34pm)

  • This exact thing happened to me but worse. Phoned the police on the nugget in the flat across from my that was literally smashing a window to get into the flat that his victim gf had locked him out of for protection. They came round for a statement said they didn’t have much to go on. I told them I wanted to stay off the record since they lived across the street and had a reputation. Basically wanting to protect a vulnerable girl and not be a total grass. Summons for court shows up as primary witness. • Tbf selling a £10k+ privately means you need a buyer that has that amount of money cash, whist a lot of folks buying a car in that bracket will go to a dealer and take finance out. Might be easier selling it to a dealer. by spannerthrower (Mon 4th Jul 2022 7:07am)

  • You know I’ve often thought we’re missing a trick with this one. In the American rust belt this is available to combat rust yet here where we salt the roads like F in the winter then just wash and wash the exterior of the car and be like “good luck suspension” then moan when it fails an MOT by spannerthrower (Thu 7th Jul 2022 8:03am)
  • There is one similar that parks there regularly but it’s not mine. Maybe I should’ve mentioned in my OP but I’ve already listed it on all the jeep forums, gumtree, Facebook market place and even paid mega bucks for an ad on Autotrader. This was an additional step in my plans to sell it. Thanks for the heads up I already have that retro car show on my radar for trying to sell it. by spannerthrower (Thu 7th Jul 2022 12:27pm)

  • I hope it’s not the staff you’re calling useless fucks. They’re running with about 20% experienced staff, 50% new starts and 30% vacancies. I’ve worked at the airport for a long time and everyone is working their arse off to keep the show on the road. • It’s hard to say exactly as there are so many factors. I’ve seen lack of handlers to load and dispatch all the aircraft in the morning first wave. I’ve seen sick aircrew so they need to rely on crew that may have been flying the night before and need “minimum crew rest period” which could push back a departure in the morning. It only takes 1 or 2 delays in the morning and it throws the whole flying programme out. A factor airlines try to keep quiet, see that compensation that everyone gets if a flight is delayed over 3 hours? If they see that’s going to happen they will jiggle the flying programme around, moving aircraft onto different flights doing so causing delays to the whole programme but will prevent the 3 hour delay and save the airline £35,700 in compensation for one A320 with 170 seats. by spannerthrower (Mon 11th Jul 2022 7:52am)

  • You sure? I’ve worked at the airport for nearly 20 years and my understanding of the Greggs sitch was that the other food places were complaining that they were loosing business to greggs since it was so affordable. Airport insisted they up their prices, Greggs refused stating the prices would remain the same. The airport up’d their rent to force them to charge more, instead Greggs just pulled out. by spannerthrower (Sat 30th Jul 2022 11:34am)
  • I work in the airport. One night shift I got a large double bacon cheeseburger meal with onion rings from Burger King £13, first and last time I do that. Also I wish they’d make the drop off fee nominal 50p or something, cars parked all over the service roads and stopped in the 1 way making everyone wait while they unload their suitcases. £4 for drop off is steep. by spannerthrower (Sat 30th Jul 2022 11:52am)

  • Ooft did I have a hell of a time with that shower of Cunts. Bought a Vauxhall Antara, noticed on the test drive that it had a vibration, oh we will get it through the workshop if you buy it and it’ll be top notch at pick up, done a deal. Pick it up, vibration still there, straight onto them cause I have the warrantee, workshops busy, can’t get in for 3 weeks…… car is in and out of the workshops with them being unable to diagnose this vibration, then it has starting issues. I get really annoyed one time picking it up as they blamed me for the starting problem saying “you’re not using it enough, the battery needed charged” bullshit, complete lies. Im an engineer I had checked the battery and it was fine. I explain that I’m near the end of my warrantee and still having problems, “oh every time you bring it in the 3 month warrantee resets” aye do you think they honoured that? In the end I got in contact with the finance company and raised an escalation with them. Black Horse were really supportive and investigated it all and upheld my complaint saying the car shouldn’t have been sold to me in that condition and should have been repaired. They agree to take the car back but I wouldn’t get any refund as I had done so many miles in the car…… for every 2000 miles you do you loose a months (finance) payment refund. Eh “how many miles have they said I’ve done?” “16000 miles” in 4 months!? …. when the car was in and out of their workshop….. bullshit. Black horse got them to get a picture of the mileage, barely 3000 miles I’d done. What a convenient mistake they made. I would avoid Peter Vardy car store/carz or whatever they call it. As they will sell you the world and drop you like a stone and ignore all the promises they made. by spannerthrower (Thu 15th Sep 2022 10:31am)

Work to be carried out by GCC or an External Contractor. “ “A fixed rate of £437 will apply for GCC to carry out an inspection on works completed by an external contractor.” Cheapest quote I could find was £850 and even then that was a struggle as the wasn’t worth the guy getting tarmac for such a small job and would just do it when he had some for another job. • Im a cyclist and the two dangerous things about it pertaining to pedestrians, cyclists are almost silent- no tyre or engine noise, yes we have bells but we ain’t ringing them constantly secondly and it ties in with the first - pedestrians assume it’s safe to cross in between stopped traffic “cars are static, it’s safe to cross” boom hit by a silent filtering cyclist who’s not expecting a pedestrian in the middle of the road. No one is perfect but we all need to do better. If police Scotland accepted video evidence from the public like they do in London folks might actually start behaving better. by spannerthrower (Thu 9th Feb 2023 8:18pm)
  • You’re missing the point. Lots of folks with disabilities cannot use public transport, banning cars would be banning their access to town. Lots of drivers have the option of public transport those with disabilities don’t by spannerthrower (Thu 9th Feb 2023 10:03pm)

As someone who came to this country as an adult will straight away be a net contributor as we never covered the cost of their birth/early years/education. • Anyone noticed the increase in cunts mounting the pavement and driving along it? Row of parked cars in cadder so when I met another car I thought “fuck one of us will need to reverse”, no he mounts the kerb without even slowing and passes me doing at least 20mph on the pavement, if a child were to step out their front garden into what should be the safety of the pavement they’d be fucked. This is obviously one of the worst scenarios I’ve seen, but I see folks doing it to turn left to avoid waiting behind the cars go straight/right at junctions. by spannerthrower (Sat 10th Jun 2023 7:04pm)
