  • Those telecoms jobs are absolutely brutal though, worth bearing in mind by 125534 (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 3:11pm)
  • All the ones I know of have been mentioned here; looking into charities is a great idea and there are some really good ones in the Glasgow area. You're a good person and a really good friend for reaching out for support when you feel underequipped to help, wish more people were like that ! by 125534 (Thu 23rd Dec 2021 3:24am)
  • I remember after lockdown when he came back and started playing again.. hearing despacito on the wind down buchanan street.. nature is healing by 125534 (Tue 22nd Mar 2022 12:12am)
  • They've mentioned there, they're on disability. That's as much, well more, information as they need to give. They don't need to justify their personal situation to anyone, we don't know what's going on in their life. by 125534 (Wed 6th Apr 2022 1:37am)
  • Well done and thank you for sharing this, it's not easy to open up and be vulnerable but it's a major step and a sign that you know you deserve good things and to have people around you. I know for a lot of people, covid has massively changed their social landscape, and that's meant a lot of people have lost touch or lost friends, myself included! It really highlighted the differences in people's life stability and social stability in a way that can feel so unfair, I'm right there with you. On good days, it's a fresh start and a blank slate to start again, and on bad ones, it's so so lonely, but reaching out like you've done today is a great step in a good direction. I saw on your comments that you're interested in games, would you be up for maybe going to some gaming meet ups or tabletop groups to get out and chat to people? Looking to your interests is a lovely way to meet people over shared passions, and takes a little pressure off. There are often meet ups shared here, and also many on meetup.com and eventbrite; when I first moved I used them a lot and they were great, and many still meet on zoom which is nice if youre not feeling up to in person meeting. If you're not feeling up to seeking out friends and new company (totally fair if not! It's a lot!) it may be worth spending some time with yourself to really feel out what's going on for you right now emotionally, and working on building your self esteem and relationship with yourself, you deserve it! I don't know about your personal health situation so I understand you may have a lot going on, but working on that relation ship with ourselves is the best place to start, and I wonder if this is something you could chat about with your current support system. There are also some amazing charities in Glasgow that help with mental health, counselling, skills and support etc. Lifelink comes to mind, when I'm home I'll have a wee look on the computer at my list and send you any relevant ones if you'd be interested. Not sure if any of that is useful for you, but I really feel you on this and really wish you all the best; you've got this. by 125534 (Thu 21st Apr 2022 9:18pm)
  • All of the other advice in here + take pictures ! Get at least one picture of the guys face and/or him staring by 125534 (Sat 23rd Apr 2022 9:27pm)
  • Worth being careful with though; very addictive and has very strong interactions with many prescription drugs by 125534 (Sat 23rd Apr 2022 11:27pm)
  • Yes but have you ever seen groups of 1000+ female football fans regularly behaving in that way? by 125534 (Sun 15th May 2022 3:10pm)
  • In exactly the same boat here :-( Got diagnosed through Psychiatry UK when I was living in England, took so long that I moved to Scotland in the interrim, only to be told they don't get funding to work with GPs in Scotland. Told them why don't they call it Psychiatry England instead then !!!!!!!! Got my GP appointment next week to beg them to take the assessment, even though I just know they won't :-( Will be keeping an eye on the comments here and if I find anything useful on my journey too I'll make sure to share it. All my best and keep your head up! It's so disheartening but we will make it x by 125534 (Sat 28th May 2022 4:25am)
  • Regarding the move, it's worth shopping round for a GP if you can! I spent ages researching which ones were well versed in mental health issues and it's made a world of difference. Mine an dmy housemates experiences of accessing help have been night and day with two different gps by 125534 (Sat 28th May 2022 1:02pm)
  • Generally right now it's Xaggitin to start with, very similar to Concerta but much much cheaper. by 125534 (Sat 28th May 2022 1:01pm)
  • Clearly a comment from someone who's never had to fight for support in the NHS. For a number of conditions, people (usually women) are not believed, misdiagnosed, pushed aside, made to wait for years and years and unless you take your health into your own hands, and do the research yourself, you're never getting better. You can't win either way; people either say you're self diagnosing or self obsessed, or get mad at you that you're not seeking help or getting better! by 125534 (Sat 28th May 2022 1:06pm)
  • I was in Islay this week, there was a huge whisky festival on that finished this week with thousands of people. There were loads of Americans still on the island, lots travelling through Glasgow. by 125534 (Fri 10th Jun 2022 1:11am)

  • I've got an old android phone you could have if you like, serviceable for vlogging and wouldn't draw too much unwanted attention to yourself? by 125534 (Tue 5th Jul 2022 3:54pm)
  • It's an old phone I used a couple years ago, I'm not at home rn but it's an alcatel but can get all the apps on it like tiktok Instagram YouTube etc. And worked fine for me! When I get home ill send you a message but welcome to it if it's of any use for you by 125534 (Wed 6th Jul 2022 12:59am)
  • I'd thought about that, and the potential loss of an old phone I have no use for is tiny compared to the potential gain of helping someone. by 125534 (Wed 6th Jul 2022 1:57pm)
  • Seconding this. Even if you're not ready to open up fully or commit to going through the NHS yet, they can act as a good signpost to outside support like charities and groups etc that in my personal experience have found a lot more useful than NHS help! A lot of charities need a GP referral, and you can give them as much information as you're comfortable with right now. by 125534 (Fri 29th Jul 2022 10:31pm)
  • If you look at the history of Glasgow, it does make a lot of sense. Really sad and tough to deal with, but it's not surprising given from where we've come. I have experienced this in other cities in the UK too, but mainly in places that share a similar kind of history and current social challenges to Glasgow. by 125534 (Thu 4th Aug 2022 4:34pm)
  • Right there with you ! Also minimum wage and pretty stuck, we live on a ground floor inside corner flat in a block, gets absolutely no sun single glaze with damp and is see-your-breath cold in winter. We've been stocking up on curtains, insulating window films, making draughr excluders and buying a lot of jumpers while they're cheap etc etc.. Bleak! by 125534 (Sat 6th Aug 2022 11:43pm)
  • Most of us are a paycheck or two away from homelessness. Nobody chooses to live on the street, nobody dreamed as a child they'd spend their lives homeless begging and using. You don't know what kind of life these people have had and what they've been through to end up where they have, just a disgusting attitude. Think of how shit someone's life is that being on heroin is a better choice. by 125534 (Sat 6th Aug 2022 11:52pm)
  • We bought the Stormguard ones because it's pretty cheap but seems to have okay reviews, will be sealing up all the tiny cracks as well to shut out any drafts ! We just bought a big sheet of velvet secondhand and are going to make the curtains ourselves. Expanding foam is a good idea, I'm really hoping all these tiny things make some kind of difference but exhausting having to do it all! by 125534 (Sun 7th Aug 2022 1:04am)

  • I spoke to someone at crewe station recently after a very similar a anti fuck up, and they said the instances of people jumping in front of trains has gone up EXPONENTIALLY this year. He said at crewe and around the lines there, its one a day at least, and some days even 4/5. So many different reasons for it being an absolute state right now, wouldn't mind if the train wasn't so expensive by 125534 (Sat 13th Aug 2022 9:14pm)
  • Good luck tbh! I've been on my 4 local dentists wait lists for..11 months now? And every time a space becomes available, it magically disappears within minutes when they find out I'm on universal credit.. My teeth are an absolute state and so painful, no idea what to do about it and after years of chasing have given up! The emergency dental hospital are great if you're in agonising pain but other than that, not many options right now. It's a mess. by 125534 (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 7:12pm)
  • You can convert normal bikes into ebikes for quite a bit less than buying one outright as well by 125534 (Thu 1st Sep 2022 12:09am)
  • I've moved across Europe several times and always used parcel2go parcel shipping. Taking your life into your hands a bit but as long as I wrapped everything carefully in bubble wrap, it's always made it there in one piece and been considerably cheaper than hiring a van. by 125534 (Tue 6th Sep 2022 5:42pm)
  • I'm commenting to keep an eye on this thread; space seems really hard to find ! You can get open studio spaces, but they're usually well over £100 a month.. Shed is the ideal really! by 125534 (Thu 22nd Sep 2022 3:47pm)
  • Feel just the same! Having to start my whole life again in every way since 2020. Most people I'm talking to right now are massively stressed and overwhelmed too. I feel like its a pretty natural response to a pandemic (not to mention..everything else haha) by 125534 (Sat 15th Oct 2022 7:13pm)
  • I travel to London at least once a month to care for a family member. Cheapest ways I've found are either using the [ticketysplit](https://www.ticketysplit.co.uk/) website (faff, but I got from here to there for £30 last week), occasionally flying is cheapest so worth checking but not often, megabus / flixbus are dirt cheap but you pay with your soul ! ticketysplit is usually the best option, it searches for seperate legs of your journey, so last week I went from London to leeds, leeds to carlisle, carlisle to glasgow, only waiting about 10 mins in between. megabus is good if you're in a bind as it is a bargain, but bring a pillow and prepare to feel like absolute shite for a day when you get there to recover. They've also gotten way less reliable over the last 6 months with more breakdowns and shortages like everything else. sometimes transport from edinburgh is way cheaper, so if you add in the cost of glasgow to edinburgh sometimes it's worth it too. by 125534 (Tue 18th Oct 2022 7:36pm)
  • They won't check it on internal flights! Useful to have in case of emergencies but they don't check them by 125534 (Tue 18th Oct 2022 10:50pm)
  • Wow I've never seen it that cheap ! Good to know if so by 125534 (Thu 20th Oct 2022 12:11am)
  • -".All my fam and many pals are down south. But you know what? they voted for the mess in WM now not us." If you've got all tory mates that sounds like a you problem.. by 125534 (Sun 23rd Oct 2022 1:02am)
  • Been travelling a lot recently by train up and down the country, and a few times the staff there have said to just ignore the systems and apps and even the board on the platform, he said they're just going when they can if the timetable is fucked so maybe that? by 125534 (Tue 8th Nov 2022 12:04am)
  • Benefits system is bizarre like this. I'm the same, work two days a week but to see any difference in the bankaaccount I'd have to work 6. Not well enough to work six, but would like to slowly work on building up to that but can't financially really! by 125534 (Tue 15th Nov 2022 12:29pm)
  • I really did think we'd start wearing masks when we are sick with cold or flu or whatever like so many other countries do.. Idk why people are so desperate to breathe in other people's germs 😂 gagging for someone else's snot like no thanks you keep it! by 125534 (Fri 18th Nov 2022 3:46pm)
  • Nothing will change until the ethical choice IS the affordable choice. It's expensive to have morals and most of us can't afford it. by 125534 (Sat 26th Nov 2022 1:01am)
  • I've got no curtains or blinds either and can't get up a ladder to put any up properly on my own. I nailed blankets over the windows as a last resort and it's helped loads, would rly recommend if you're freezing and got no options. by 125534 (Thu 15th Dec 2022 2:49am)
  • I'm in a really similar situation to you, and OVO sent me two free electric overblankets (bit of a slap on the face I'd much rather they lowered the bill lol but still) . I'm just living sandwiched between that and the underblanket ones atm.. Buying some cellophane for window insulation as I've heard that can help too. Giving me a headache being so cold all the time, am disabled too so can't get out all the time. Just makes me sad by 125534 (Thu 15th Dec 2022 2:47am)
  • I was told recently having the parental questionnaire is part of their requirements as NHS. I got a PUK diagnosis and they needed the parental bit to be able to process it apparently, bit of a formality. by 125534 (Sat 24th Dec 2022 12:07am)
  • They do such good thermal layers and winter clothes that aren't too expensive ? I live in my uniqlo insulated trousers in winter :) by 125534 (Thu 29th Dec 2022 6:08pm)
  • They put one on pretty sharpish for the COP26 delegates though, proves it's possible, they just don't want to do it by 125534 (Thu 29th Dec 2022 9:41pm)
  • I understand if the landlord is doing a good service like maintaining the propety, keeping up with upkeep, staying on top of things but every landlord I've ever had I've met very rarely, cheaps out on everything or never fixes anything at all etc etc etc.. at that point, all you're paying for is the fact someone bought it and owns it. I know some landlords who treat it like a job, as it should be. by 125534 (Thu 29th Dec 2022 10:24pm)
  • I take mine to William lang by Pollokshaws East. Not West end but he does a good job and not too expensive by 125534 (Tue 3rd Jan 2023 1:54pm)
  • If there's a slightly more specific issue that's guiding you towards therapy, charities might be a way to go. I was utterly hopeless this time in 2020, no help available, long waiting lists. I was seeking therapy for a handful of quite specific issues and traumas, and got 12 free sessions of therapy through a charity. Not sure if applicable but it really saved my life, a lot of charities are doing amazing work right now and much easier to access than the official channels sadly. Free, but great service and really gave me a boost whilst waiting on waiting lists. by 125534 (Tue 3rd Jan 2023 6:08pm)
