  • It's close to me too, and it was practically stripped bare this evening, save for fruit and veg! LOL by BLW79 (Sun 15th Mar 2020 9:53pm)
  • I think all private housing should be nationalised. Exploiting the poorest, and having them buy you a property is disgusting. No sympathy for greedy bastards. by BLW79 (Thu 26th Mar 2020 2:00am)
  • It'd be nice if folk recognised the efforts of people like the guy in my local supermarket who has put in 65 hours this week, at not much more than minimum wage. Especially given the fact they're exposing themselves to the virus and many people have basically got paid leave, and are watching Netflix. by BLW79 (Thu 26th Mar 2020 10:30pm)
  • Ah, I assumed from the title and what other people have told me it's just for the NHS workers. There are also rainbow drawings in the windows of some of the houses in my street, with 'NHS' written under it. I just feel that the emergency services in general tend to be recognised, whereas supermarket workers are paid badly and not generally acknowledged for what they're doing. by BLW79 (Thu 26th Mar 2020 10:47pm)
  • Just to clarify, is it a push bicycle or a motorcycle? by BLW79 (Fri 3rd Apr 2020 11:59am)
  • I now own, but I was ripped off by landlords for more than 10 years. I'm sure there are great ones out there somewhere, but the ones I encountered were very dodgy. Once I was flooded by the neighbours upstairs, and it ruined the flat - the wallpaper was left hanging off the walls, carpets were soaked and began to stink, damp patches on the ceiling. Like an idiot I lived like that for three months - paying full rent which he later bragged earned him £150 a month after covering his mortgage - before he got it sorted. The dampness must have softened the plaster in the walls, and one of the radiators literally fell out, causing another leak. He claimed I must have pulled it out and kept my deposit. He was a dodgy bastard - claimed to have come to the UK with nothing, yet fifteen years later he owned nine properties! LOL Always smoking a spliff, too. by BLW79 (Fri 3rd Apr 2020 12:13pm)

  • I remember it, too. It was Irish Republicans mostly, with possibly some anti-war protesters. by BLW79 (Sat 27th Jun 2020 6:56pm)
  • No, it isn't your fault at all. You *should* be able to leave your bike unlocked, and not have it stolen. It's 100% always the fault of the scum that steals it. Just because a crime is prevalent, it doesn't alter the fact the victim is blameless. If we live in a society in which the victim shares culpability with the perpetrator, then we ultimately come back to "look what she was wearing, she asked for it." by BLW79 (Wed 29th Jul 2020 11:56am)

  • See my reply to the TheBigFudge1985. by BLW79 (Thu 30th Jul 2020 11:37am)
  • I wasn't suggesting for a second the two were comparable in terms of the devastation they cause, as I suspect you know, but the principle holds true: the victim is not responsible. Would you suggest that a rape victim who got very drunk at a party and went back to the perpetrator's home, is partially responsible? I'm sure you wouldn't, therefore your reasoning is inconsistent. Just because someone made it easy for a criminal, doesn't mean they share responsibility for the crime. It's always 100% the fault of the criminal. by BLW79 (Thu 30th Jul 2020 11:35am)

  • I read quite a bit about him being linked to Bible John. I remember concluding it wasn't him, despite there being circumstantial evidence linking them. What's creepy about that, is John might well be still about. by BLW79 (Mon 3rd Aug 2020 7:25pm)

  • Outrageous! Could you perhaps see if the rail company's cameras might have filmed her? You'll need some sort of evidence. Scumbag needs apprehended, if she is willing to do that in public, what goes on behind closed doors. by BLW79 (Fri 13th Nov 2020 7:14pm)

  • A return to fortnightly collections. The three-weekly collections seem to be causing a lot of problems for folk. by BLW79 (Tue 12th Jan 2021 4:11pm)
  • I will definitely get downvoted for this, but will say it anyway. I live in the East End, and a few of my neighbours are middle aged guys who, over the last 12 years, have never worked. I assume they don't have a private income, such as a trust fund, and live on benefits. Guys like these should be required to do, say, ten hours a week of litter picking, IMHO. Hopefully it'd: - make them think twice about dropping litter. - encourage family members to be more considerate about the local environment. - give them a bit of exercise. - improve the community, especially as there are loads of these guys about. - help them increase their social circle and improve their mental health. What about the jobs of the guys paid to do this? Well, I think there's enough work to go around, as my area's a mess. Also someone will need to train and supervise these guys, so no redundancies are necessary. by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 3:58pm)
  • Not at all. It's just there's a pool of labour apparently doing nothing, who might benefit themselves and their community by picking up litter for even just a few hours each week. When I go to the West End I notice there's a lot less litter about, but I think that might be because the council clean it more often. My area's full of dog shit and litter, though. It's depressing. by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 4:48pm)
  • I suffer from a mental illness, or a 'nut', do you have to make mental illness a pejorative term? At the risk of being perceived as a 'snowflake', this is why there is a stigma surrounding mental health issues. Is there any evidence that this guy was a flat earther, etc, or was that conjecture? He might well be, though he could simply be an aggressive, selfish arsehole who'd forgotten his mask. Unfortunately I'm not sure he's broken any laws, unless the police want to investigate him for flouting the Covid regs, i.e. his not wearing a mask. I understand that the police are not supposed to ask people whether they are exempt from wearing a mask though, as it can exacerbate certain anxiety disorders, though not sure whether or not that's correct. by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 5:02pm)
  • I know what you're saying. I wasn't advocating the disabled or seriously ill pick litter. Rather the long-term unemployed. I'm basically going by quite a few guys who tend to spend their summer days congregating on their balconies, taps aff, drinking, smoking and being noisy. They might all have non-visible disabilities, I suppose... by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 5:11pm)
  • *'Aye you’ll be the talk of the flat earther / anti vax / 5g conspiracy nut groups.'* What is a 'nut'? I always believed it was a pejorative term for the mentally ill. If you have a mental illness, then please try to break the stigma. Thanks. 😊 by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 5:16pm)
  • Enjoy your night, pal! 😊👍 by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 5:21pm)
  • Well I suppose it is a traffic violation. If it can be proven, he'll possibly incur penalty points and/or a fine. Good luck with it. I'd genuinely be interested to know how you get on. I hope you're feeling better. 😊 by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 5:20pm)
  • Aye, there are folk like that around here, too. It is a tricky one. by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 5:25pm)
  • At least for a few hours per week. Even two hours per week could make a huge difference! 😊 by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 7:13pm)
  • I think there should be a voluntary scheme, or maybe even pay them a few extra quid, at the very least. I was unemployed for 2 months and hated it. I felt depressed and took to the drink. I would have welcomed getting out and doing something positive for the community. by BLW79 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 7:16pm)
  • Aye, some of the holes along the Paisley Road West are unbelievable. I literally got off my bike in the road, and carried it over some of the holes. by BLW79 (Tue 23rd Feb 2021 9:13am)
  • You'd probably be charged with dumping. But I agree, something has to be done. With the rubbish bin only being collected every three weeks, people are just dumping bags of litter anywhere, and it's getting blown about. by BLW79 (Tue 23rd Feb 2021 5:19pm)

  • You can raise testosterone naturally. Lifting weights is one excellent way of doing it. The more muscle you put on, the more testosterone you will produce. It is also possible, though disputed, that soya can interfere with testosterone levels, as it contains something that mimics estrogen. I do eat soya (tempeh) but only occasionally, for this reason. Mike Tyson has claimed he didn't engage in sexual activity for 5 years, and some people (no fappers) claim this can help raise testosterone, too. Apparently plastic can have an effect, too - I was told that heating food in plastic containers is not a good idea. Those are off the top of my head! If you search the internet you may find more things. Best of luck, pal. by BLW79 (Sun 28th Mar 2021 4:43pm)

  • Can't they keep these people in places like Govan? The presence of large numbers of noisy, working class people in the heart of the city is only likely to detract from its image and make it a no go zone for decent people. Why are the police allowing this? by BLW79 (Mon 10th May 2021 2:07pm)

  • Because at my age, ~40, there's a tiny chance of me succumbing to Covid. Indeed I suspect I have probably had it. Furthermore, I don't know a single person who has died of Covid. Not a friend, family member, neighbour, colleague or passing acquaintance. I'd estimate I know several hundred people. I don't think there's any need for someone like me to require a vaccine. However, I'd encourage everyone who wants one to take it...but it sounds a bit iffy to me. by BLW79 (Tue 25th May 2021 6:30pm)

  • But cats roam, that's what they do. My cat patrols his territory three times per day, and that takes him into numerous gardens. I would have thought that the cat would avoid the garden if he sees the dog. The only other alternative is to tie him to a pole in the garden. by BLW79 (Sun 6th Jun 2021 1:54pm)
  • Probably an English student. I worked with one from Glasgow University and she didn't know the difference in usage of 'less' and 'fewer'. I worked with a geography student who didn't know part 9f Russia was in Europe. 🤦‍♂️ by BLW79 (Sun 6th Jun 2021 1:57pm)
  • I don't know what else to suggest. You could get a water pistol and deter the cat with that. He might then start avoiding your garden if he thinks he'll get soaked. I'd be heartbroken and very angry if my cat was killed - he is very much part of the family. Just saying. Could someone not supervise your dog when he's in the garden? Could he be trained? Could they be introduced? by BLW79 (Sun 6th Jun 2021 2:19pm)
  • Because it would be cruel to keep my cat in. You can take your dog for walks, that's not possible with a cat. by BLW79 (Sun 6th Jun 2021 2:28pm)
  • You sound angry. My cat doesn't go near a road. I wouldn't have one if I lived too close to a busy road. by BLW79 (Sun 6th Jun 2021 2:30pm)
