  • I would email your local councillors directly, all of them, rather than the council. [http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/councillorsandcommittees/addressSearch.asp](http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/councillorsandcommittees/addressSearch.asp) Send picture, explain the situation. by Buachaille (Wed 22nd May 2019 1:56pm)
  • Tweet this pic to [https://twitter.com/theenvtaskforce](https://twitter.com/theenvtaskforce). I have found them pretty responsive compared to going through the council directly who are hopeless. by Buachaille (Wed 22nd May 2019 2:08pm)

  • Personally I like the murals, much better than someone's silly tag. I think the taggers need to reign it in a bit. I think the whole practice can be really egotistical. Was really disappointed to see someone tagged the Linen Bank after years in decay and finally it has been restored. Glasgow has so little of its historic buildings left in good condition. by Buachaille (Fri 14th Feb 2020 11:13am)

  • I end up in there sometimes bu tit feels like past its time. It used to be stowed every weekend but it's half dead these days and quite often parts of the club are closed off, even on a Friday night. Can't remember the last time I seen the mezzanine open. by Buachaille (Thu 20th Feb 2020 1:36pm)
  • Yeah I tried there one night to be told they had no pizza left. by Buachaille (Fri 22nd May 2020 8:42am)

  • I understand what you are saying but be the sounds of it those officers made no attempt to get Tommy's details and record the racial assault as it was so they could arrest the culprits at later date. by Buachaille (Mon 15th Jun 2020 2:52pm)
  • What ignorance. Tommy is not a member of the press. He is a renowned international photographer. Maybe you should do some research before commenting. by Buachaille (Mon 15th Jun 2020 3:02pm)

  • TBH this sort of divisiveness is the exact problem with the current society. People who want to split everyone into us and them based on a decision we were all asked to make. People really need to have a good look at themselves. by Buachaille (Sat 20th Jun 2020 10:10am)

  • Bannatyne's in Stepps is good if you are in the right end of the city. It was about £42 a month. High spec gym kit and a good pool/spa. by Buachaille (Thu 20th Aug 2020 3:13pm)
  • The worst place I have been in is Gorgie in Edinburgh. I work around there a lot and there is shite everywhere. Glasgow doesn't have a patch on it. by Buachaille (Tue 29th Sep 2020 11:30am)
  • It's not hard to say it's a maximum of 6 to a table, almost everywhere else is managing it. by Buachaille (Tue 29th Sep 2020 11:49am)
  • Yeah I don't get the slot thing either as it encourages people for move around more. It was really common a few weeks back but fewer places seem to be doing it now. by Buachaille (Tue 29th Sep 2020 11:46am)
  • I do get the point of view and that is what I thought at first as well but the more I thought about it the more I realised that is such a short term position. If you are deliberating flouting the rules you are more likely to get a track and trace coming back to your bar and probably causing it to close for a week or so like so many have a had to do. Also if these new measures don't have an impact and everywhere is closed again it is worse for everyone. by Buachaille (Tue 29th Sep 2020 11:45am)
  • Yeah that can happen. In the incident I seen though it was one big table and it seemed like the barman knew the lads sitting around it as there was a lot of banter going back and forth. It's exactly the sort of atmosphere which would be great in normal times but when you go into other places and see the sacrifices they are making it is a bit of a slap in the face. by Buachaille (Tue 29th Sep 2020 12:12pm)
  • Good to know. by Buachaille (Tue 29th Sep 2020 2:05pm)
  • There is no bouncer on the door. Very of the bars on GWR have bouncers.. Plus as I said earlier it seemed as though some of this particular table were mates with the bar staff. by Buachaille (Tue 29th Sep 2020 2:04pm)

  • I had a third floor flat in North Kelvinside and replaced the old windows with good quality upvc sash and case. They were the best windows in the close, the replacement was done completely from inside with no scaffolding and it cost £3200 for 6 windows (1 three window bay, 1 single bedroom, 1 single kitchen and 1 single bathroom) . If your street is already full of tilt and turn you won't have any issues with enforcement. by Buachaille (Tue 18th May 2021 4:24pm)

  • There has been no acknowledgement of the fact we have been in lockdown unable to go into each others homes and nowhere else in the rest of the UK is like this. I'm fed up hearing how great sturgeon is, where is the evidence? The lot have been asleep at the wheel since they got elected in 2007 and people keep voting for them. The reason Glasgow is suffering is due to their incompetence. by Buachaille (Sat 22nd May 2021 11:57am)

  • I just got a quote from them. £690 inc VAT. Seems they got the memo about inflation. Just another excuse to get ripped off. by Buachaille (Fri 11th Feb 2022 8:22am)
  • If it is the handset in your flat they are easy to swap out. I've replaced old handsets in my last two flats. You can buy replacements online. New for old will be fine too. This is the last one I bought. [https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004ULLVM6/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o01\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004ULLVM6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Just take a photo of the wiring when you open it so you know what colours go where. If you can get a manual online for the old handset that'll help but isnt essential. by Buachaille (Wed 13th Apr 2022 12:27am)
  • Is it a basic handset? If it is it won't be powered via mains. It will be powered from the intercom but just via a 12v cable so no worries about a shock or isolation. If it's a system with a video feed then that's different. by Buachaille (Wed 13th Apr 2022 12:29pm)
  • This is the answer I was looking for. That makes sense. Yeah it's a bit a samey. Seems to be replacing Scottish beers too. by Buachaille (Sun 29th May 2022 2:55pm)
  • Five march near the park had really nice food and lots of parents take kids there. Plenty of pram space. Sips and baker in GWR also seems to be popular with prams. by Buachaille (Tue 31st May 2022 10:40pm)
  • Technically anything could be an opportunity to bump up the rent. When moving to a new mortgage, particularly on a buy to let mortgage, the lender normally insists on doing a valuation as it is a higher risk mortgage for the lender. by Buachaille (Tue 7th Jun 2022 4:46pm)

  • A good option might be outside the West End but on the Subway route. Somewhere like Cessnock or Govan where you can easily get into the West End or City Centre for work but you aren't paying £££. The West End is the most expensive area of the city to rent and the demand is massive right now due to the expansion of Glasgow University. by Buachaille (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 12:57pm)
  • I would say most of the city is safe personally. I think Subway route is good bet as is some of the East End (Dennistoun). It doesn't have the subway but it walkable/bikeable into the city if that's where you get work. The South side is also good but can be more expensive. by Buachaille (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 1:03pm)
  • Voody. Same people with an pedestrian advert on the bridge over the M8 at Charing Cross. by Buachaille (Mon 5th Dec 2022 1:08pm)
  • Don't know. I tried to Google it after I seen it and couldn't find anything so the advert is pish. by Buachaille (Mon 5th Dec 2022 2:15pm)
  • It's even worse than I imagined. *"Flavoured with the finest natural ingredients."* The colour of it! by Buachaille (Mon 5th Dec 2022 3:02pm)
  • As other's have said **this is definitely illegal.** The Scottish Government changed the law last year and no new flats are allowed to be put out for Short Term Let (whether Airbnb or any other method) since October 2022 unless they have applied for planning permission. GCC guidance states to any application will be refused if they share a communal entrance or facilities with other properties. Any current flats which are let out have until October 2023 to apply for permission (which as above won't be granted). This doesn't apply to single room letting (home sharing). Are you on Vinicombe street by any chance? by Buachaille (Mon 16th Jan 2023 2:29pm)
  • They don't allow solo people anymore. No idea why but they are very strict about it. by Buachaille (Thu 26th Jan 2023 11:34pm)

  • I have heard this before. My old neighbour also referred to it as a fanlight. What I have never had answered though it why these windows are never above living rooms. Every tenement I have stayed in or noticed have these windows above kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and the front door but never the living room. The current tenement I am in has a master bedroom that also doesn't have one but it is a very oversized room and I have a feeling it was originally a second living room rather than a bedroom. by Buachaille (Thu 25th May 2023 9:36am)
  • I also have fireplaces in the bedrooms with these windows... by Buachaille (Fri 7th Jul 2023 2:06am)
  • >GFT 70mm I booked the Science Centre as I thought that was the only true IMAX? What does dual xenon mean? is 70mm better at the GFT even if the screen is smaller? by Buachaille (Tue 25th Jul 2023 4:16pm)
  • Thanks. I wish I'd read this before buying tickets to the science centre now. by Buachaille (Tue 25th Jul 2023 4:40pm)
  • These maps aren't accurate though. For example a lot of Hillhead is shown as local access only however they completely closed the top end of Byres Road yesterday which is shown as a doted line on the map and the Creswell Street access in effect closing all access to Hillhead. There were dozens of workmen and cars stuck in that area for hours before they opened the cordon. I get why they had to do this but they didn't say they were going to do it. by Buachaille (Sat 5th Aug 2023 9:09am)

  • Definitely report it to the police but don't expect anything to be done about it. All the LGBT stuff they do is performative and in reality they just can't be arsed with the hassle or the paperwork. I have two friends who were harassed for being gay by adults on Glassford street, they went up to a police car on the street and tried to report it and were told if they didn't f\* off they would be arrested for a breach of the peace. They were really shocked and upset by this, and it was only last year not 1980. by Buachaille (Wed 29th Nov 2023 9:34am)
  • That's good to hear. I suppose that is the best we can hope, I don't realistically expect them to charge a kid even if that kid is well out of line. The larger point for me is the city centre has a lot more young kids wandering around in groups at night and there is little police presence. Prince's Square have a responsibility as well. by Buachaille (Wed 29th Nov 2023 11:34am)
