  • Was my birthday yesterday. Getting old as I just had dinner with my parents and a few drinks myself, but I’ve taken today off work with no actual plans but chill and gym etc. Looking forward to doing fuck all and gearing myself up for one of the two nights a year I go to a club. by Gee_dude (Fri 11th Jan 2019 8:56am)
  • For me it’s not just that the gym is good it’s that not going is bad. The holidays are great but fuck me laziness and binge eating takes its toll eventually. by Gee_dude (Fri 11th Jan 2019 3:06pm)
  • Morning cuntos, first time first in, up at an ungodly hour for a week in Spain. Only looks to be a few degrees warmer than Scotland but I’ll take it. Have a good yin. by Gee_dude (Thu 24th Jan 2019 6:24am)
  • Never out at this time on a Saturday but on the train and all these fuckers are already drinking. Feel left out. by Gee_dude (Sat 9th Feb 2019 11:00am)
  • I keep my tree up year round (it’s alive) and just switch the lights on at Christmas. No one has ever checked if I’m alive. Do my neighbours hate me? by Gee_dude (Sat 16th Feb 2019 12:15pm)
  • I got a “congratulations, you’ve had x many swipes right!” Notification then I looked at how many matches I had and it made realise that I must swipe right waaaaaaaay more than I get swiped. by Gee_dude (Sat 9th Mar 2019 4:32pm)

  • That's steep! It's on my list but so is Alisa Craig and the £35 is enough to put me off that. by Gee_dude (Wed 29th May 2019 8:31am)

  • Anyone been following the Margaret Fleming case? So bizarre, so many weird details and conflicting accounts. by Gee_dude (Wed 12th Jun 2019 11:38am)
  • Only did it once and probably wouldn't again. Managed an hour or two's sleep but basically groggy the whole time. Worked myself into a rage over how long you sit still at the junction bit (even though I knew when we'd arrive and it takes this into account). by Gee_dude (Wed 10th Jul 2019 8:04am)
  • Broke up with my boyfriend Sunday. My decision, for the best, far too complicated etc. None of that helps at all. Saddest I've ever been, so many emotions, mostly now feeling guilty for hurting him. Emotions are shite and irrational. I'm a bit better now, text a few pals and made solid rebound plans. Good luck working through it. by Gee_dude (Sat 10th Aug 2019 9:43am)
  • Just noticed that La Casa on Park Circus seems to have been sold, anyone know anything? by Gee_dude (Fri 13th Sep 2019 12:29pm)
  • I've only been that person once, I had been saying I would FaceTime my bro and his kids all week and the first chance was on a Four hour coach to Barcelona an I figured it'd kill time and I'd never see these people again. Most obnoxious I've ever been but no regrets. by Gee_dude (Mon 23rd Sep 2019 1:12pm)
  • Finally got a new job, absolutely buzzing. Now to find a new flat, gunna have to share for the first time since uni. I caved and paid for SpareRoom as it seems to be the most used, the other ones that turn up on Google seem fairly dead and Gumtree seems a mixed bag. Any other tips? by Gee_dude (Mon 30th Sep 2019 11:57am)
  • I passed in 2012 and have only driven a few times since. Now I start a new job next month and I need to get a car so gunna need to get a few lessons in. by Gee_dude (Sat 5th Oct 2019 1:33pm)
  • Morning chaps. It’s been a fucking hectic few months for me -new job, flat, first car. But I can honestly say that I am loving life. Back at my parents’ for Christmas and for he first time in my life I’m organised with everything bought and wrapped and I’ve told the mawbag I’m happy to help with dinner but for the first time in years I’m not putting it all on myself. Also glad because in previous years I’ve lived in Ayr which is heavy shite so I’ve pretty much left for the fortnight but this year I’m looking forward to nipping back to my own bit as and when I feel like it. Stayed up till 0300 and my dad didn’t even bring up politics so taking that as a solid sign. Also I decided last night I’m gunna stop smoking. Pub with the auld gang tonight so absolutely buzzing. Hope everyone has an incredible few days and finds a way to not succumb to the pressure of it all. It’s such an exhausting time of year but this year I’m hoping I’ve managed to make it enjoyable. Sorry about the fucking gloat of a post but I’m absolutely feeling myself rn and genuinely hope all you good cunts have a fantastic one xo by Gee_dude (Tue 24th Dec 2019 8:44am)

  • There must be some sort of group to join for this? Seems like you’ll have more success if you find someone likeminded you click with rather than an internet random. by Gee_dude (Thu 9th Jan 2020 8:02am)
  • Was at Dragopticon on Friday. Was telling folk about it on Saturday and was amazed how few folk even knew the Panopticon existed. Amazing (cold) venue and they do some interesting events so if you’re not aware of them give them a wee follow on social media. by Gee_dude (Mon 13th Jan 2020 8:06am)
  • Go out with friends more to give you a bit of confidence. If someone is having fun you notice that before their voice. But congrats on coming out and I hope everything goes smoothly by Gee_dude (Mon 13th Jan 2020 8:10am)

  • Right chaps this has been annoying me for months now. Every morning I walk past a barbershop called Rain Dogs Society. The name bothers me so much it feels like an anagram or cryptic clue. Did some googling but nae luck. Any guesses? by Gee_dude (Thu 12th Mar 2020 1:19pm)
  • My work has yet to send out any emails, communication. But given the latest news and the fact we can mostly work from home that seems crazy - just tell us “hey, come in get your things and set up for home working”. Some people will be legitimately reluctant to leave the house so no communication just seems off. by Gee_dude (Tue 17th Mar 2020 8:23am)
  • Good luck with that revenge, he was obviously boarding up all his windows and doors for the coming apocalypse. by Gee_dude (Fri 20th Mar 2020 8:43am)
  • By far the best bit of WFH has been that my lunchtime walks are now in the West End rather than city centre. Have discovered so many nice little lanes and streets I didn’t know existed. And I started back at the running last week to avoid the gym, same goes for that. Even came across “Corunna Street”. So aye for this working from home who feel safe and able to do so, make sure you’re getting out and about. by Gee_dude (Fri 20th Mar 2020 8:48am)

  • Decided last night I’d go out a walk with a smoke and some wine in a water bottle. Byres Road was a ghost town so I noped my way right home. Thought there might have been people out for one last one but no all the pubs were shut (I was out about 2330). No police presence which I found odd. Anyway, won’t be doing that for a while, stay safe folks. by Gee_dude (Sat 21st Mar 2020 12:31pm)

  • Hard choice between lunchtime walk and evening run. Also I’ve never kept a well stocked fridge (it’s tiny, no freezer) so gunna be an adjustment from regular shopping and picking up reduced shit. Ah well, I’ll stick to essentials. Still, aware of how trivial this sounds. by Gee_dude (Tue 24th Mar 2020 12:21pm)

  • Definitely worried though that if numbers decrease cos we nailed Social Distancing, a noticeable percentage will say fuck that and try going back to normal. by Gee_dude (Mon 30th Mar 2020 9:28am)
  • My guess is Boris keeps the measures in place, while giving mixed messages so some folk head outdoors. That way there will be a steady stream of new cases, but it won’t be the government’s fault as they said to stay in doors. Plenty folk are idiots but they need folk flouting it, so it makes me lowkey uncomfortable all the public shaming. But again, plenty idiots. by Gee_dude (Mon 30th Mar 2020 9:58am)
  • I’m personally not interested in any conspiracies relating to CV for now (not accusing you of being so) but I think the government will be very interested to see how quickly people were able to be put into lockdown, how quickly this all became the norm. by Gee_dude (Tue 31st Mar 2020 11:44am)
  • Yes of course. But folk in government are getting a real Hardin studying our behaviour. by Gee_dude (Wed 1st Apr 2020 10:54am)

  • Aye but it’s a loud vocal reminder of the importance and appreciation of the NHS, which will hopefully make some reconsider this in their political decisions (would it be naive to say the tories might have to as well?) by Gee_dude (Thu 2nd Apr 2020 4:16pm)
  • Honestly made her seem slightly more like us to me, in that the really rich just wont get caught. Plenty of folk will have made it to their much more private estates etc. Still totally unacceptable behaviour and seems such a rookie mistake, how does she not understand the importance of optics??? by Gee_dude (Mon 6th Apr 2020 10:34am)
  • Yes. I have a nurse friend who was out drinking in pubs up till they were forced to shut. At the time, my thought was “well he needs to blow off steam and the pubs will be mostly empty, maybe not as bad as it seems”. He’s now asked me twice to meet up since lock down. First time I tried to play it off “oh yeah in 12 weeks or so”. Last night he asked again and I near fucking lost it. We’re staying at home for you, blah blah blah, honestly can’t see myself staying friends with him. by Gee_dude (Tue 7th Apr 2020 11:04am)
  • Reaching uni levels of late night procrastination. Read a story about a van Dyck going missing from Oxford, wonder how much a van Dyck goes for these days, have a look on Sothebays, then remember how fun it is looking at art I’ll never afford, after a while decide to browse Charles Rennie Mackintosh, find a lot with a series of postcards he sent to someone who lives round the corner from me, look them up, what they did, any children? Oh friends with Jessie King, I like her, how much do her sketches go for? Then decide to look up post office directories to see who their neighbours were, then looking up my flat, and my neighbours, and what can I find on any of these people, and my god, i can’t remember the last time I was awake and sober at 0330. by Gee_dude (Thu 9th Apr 2020 11:31am)

  • Garnethill. Nice idea for a quiz and it’s funny seeing them all written out because some of them I just don’t think of as “hill” even though my one experience of Ruchill Park was running to the top of the hill. Also growing up my maw used to say that like Rome, Glasgow was built on seven hills. This didn’t seem right, cos I could come up with seven pretty easily. Is this just some catholic school nonsense or is there anything else to it? by Gee_dude (Mon 27th Apr 2020 12:08pm)
  • Have a FB friend who loves a good moan. Generally ridiculous, the world is against me, pity me please, but she also tries to be a bit controversial/political despite not being particularly well informed. Yesterday was a new low. Post about how people in Glasgow are so selfish, she has C19 and no one cares, supermarket messed up her delivery, phoned to complain, manager didn’t care, she lives alone what is she supposed to do, how will she get her four types of milk?? So now she has to go to the shop so she doesn’t starve. Haven’t spoken in years but felt I out to speak up but no, just in time someone starts making suggestions. Deliveroo, etc, to which she responds “oh no I tried that once don’t think it works”. The guy persists, give it a go and she just says “no it’s fine I’ll just go to the shop just can’t believe folk are so selfish that I have to go to the shop I mean that’s how I got it in the first place”. I miss a bit but next time I check in it’s “fucking arsehole says he’s going to call the police!!!!!”, and someone who has been supportive clicks and says wait sorry, what virus do you have, “ummmm, coronavirus??” Delusional as usual, not receptive to genuine advice, just wanting a moan. Then, as a follow up, she deletes the post and unironically posts a meme with “I just had to delete my previous post there are far too many negative people out there with a problem for every solution”. So I’m quite enjoying this (also feeling a bit guilty for not engaging) and I’ve sent it to a couple of pals. Then, later, get a text from a friend sharing a post from a “dumb customer complaints” group or whatever, some idiot complaining with too many !!!! about unsympathetic managers not helping her get her four types of milk. Fortunately, she named and shamed the supermarket so I go on, most recent post, most relevant comment complaining about starving without milk. It was... Rebekah Vardy. by Gee_dude (Wed 13th May 2020 9:23am)
  • Some other highlights this week included when someone tagged her in a “share an album” post and she says “I’m sorry I’m just far too ill to play these games right now hopefully once I’m better I might be up for it”. by Gee_dude (Wed 13th May 2020 12:45pm)
  • I said last week that I couldn’t imagine going back to work, would take so much adjustment... then I got the call and have been wfh since Monday. An adjustment aye but definitely a positive one, routine has improved so much and I definitely need a bit of structure. by Gee_dude (Thu 14th May 2020 9:00am)
  • PAESANO REOPENING TOMORROW by Gee_dude (Thu 14th May 2020 9:13am)

  • Fucking messy. by Gee_dude (Thu 14th May 2020 10:41am)
  • #theorginal So in this article Manchester Sugo definitely comes across better (even if the whole relatable tone is well crafted PR) and Glasgow just sound like cunts (even if they’re legally right, I feel that the article doesn’t stress enough that They’re suing over Manchester expanding post trademark being filed rather than existing as a one off restaurant). Messy business, bad PR for Glasgow. by Gee_dude (Thu 14th May 2020 10:40am)
  • I was thinking that about private clubs etc, no way dickheads haven’t found a loophole to rent a private room at the Western Club etc. by Gee_dude (Fri 15th May 2020 11:15am)
  • See when this first all kicked off, I was absolutely writing off any pals that flouted the lockdown, dead to me. But see now that there’s been such garbled messaging and folk in England can see family again etc, I’m finding it harder and harder to resist a socially distant walk etc. So I feel like if I broke the rules the week before they’re eased, I’d be just as bad as folk at the start. I’m not gunna do it, but I am looking back at folk with a bit more empathy. by Gee_dude (Mon 18th May 2020 10:24am)
  • If you retold this in a different tone it would reach the top of r/nosleep. by Gee_dude (Thu 21st May 2020 9:17am)
  • Flatmate had a pal over last night. He had asked me to hang cos of the nice weather but I’ve got a crazy week at work so had to pass. At first they were just sitting out on the front step but came in about 2200. At this point I don’t even know how I feel but I think just mostly annoyed that he didn’t even ask me. He’s been going out for walks with pals most days and I’ve not said anything cos like, up to him, can’t be arsed getting in an argument during lockdown. So I suppose this dude coming over isn’t that different if he’s been seeing him anyway, just fucking shite for me. I’m not even worried about the virus myself, I’m healthy, and my vulnerable parents have just accepted they won’t see us till it’s all over, I’ve just been doing my part of not fucking spreading it. I know it sounds dumb that my biggest concern is falling out with him but it’s a small flat and lockdown has been hard enough. Also, and this is nowhere near my main point, but the cunt didn’t leave till 0700. by Gee_dude (Thu 21st May 2020 9:25am)

  • It’s fine to vent, I use it a lot to rant about a lot of things where I’m being petty or whatever and don’t wanna bore friends or family. And if you get downvoted who tf cares, but it can be useful to give you perspective and see that maybe you’re in the wrong. by Gee_dude (Mon 25th May 2020 6:36pm)
  • Such an alpha. by Gee_dude (Wed 27th May 2020 11:31am)
  • To some extent aye you’re right but the messaging was always worded in such a way that folk wouldn’t fully adhere to it and you’d still have to convince me that the government didn’t rely on the flouters to ensure the manageable spread. by Gee_dude (Thu 28th May 2020 9:19am)

  • We used to always go to France when I was young, I loved the hyper markets and how cheap everything was (9p pretzel sticks??). I remember one year coming back with a huge, probably 2kg, bag of cheap ass biscuits. Small and chunky, same (lack of) taste as rich tea, slightly too sweet, bit crunchy, bit chewy. Really inoffensively disgusting. None of us liked them but I remember kind of hate eating them. Vocally disliked them while working our way through them. Then, eventually my parents gave them away for our aunt’s dog. I was raging, I had grown to tolerate them. by Gee_dude (Fri 29th May 2020 11:41am)

  • Agree with the other posts here, timing is well off. I fear it would do more harm than good. You’re not going to change any minds for the better, and people will see it negatively (particularly if things go wrong). I can see plenty folk using a stunt like this as a reason to dismiss a very worthy cause. by Gee_dude (Mon 1st Jun 2020 11:18pm)
  • Maybe a bite or a skelf? by Gee_dude (Tue 2nd Jun 2020 11:54am)
  • We’ll need to wait and see what the numbers do but it’s always going to be adjusted as things change. But the government can’t say like “temporary lift” because then everyone will go out while they can and there’d be an explosion. It’s a difficult balancing act because it’s not about keeping the numbers down, but up at a manageable level. by Gee_dude (Tue 2nd Jun 2020 11:59am)
  • I’d anticipate that yeah the jab would be good for prevention and lowering the need for ventilators, but if we still have social distancing in place there would likely be fewer cases/lower risk anyway. by Gee_dude (Tue 2nd Jun 2020 12:26pm)

  • My flatmate is still having folk over, fairly regularly, has stopped apologising for it. But he constantly goes on rants about folk not socially distancing in shops etc. And he visits his vulnerable parents (in their garden) and has zero sympathy when I say he makes me nervous about visiting mine. • Was at the till in Tesco last night and suddenly hear a shrill shouting. “How DARE you call me racist that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I would never,” etc etc etc on she goes. This woman is highly affronted, indignant, and willing to make a scene by standing and shouting in a shop assistant’s face. I’d would be mortified if anything I said was construed as racist, I’d humbly apologise, grovelling more likely, then leave and never come back. So my thought is that it obviously struck a nerve with this middle class, middle aged woman. I can’t imagine the arrogance it would take to try to blame something like that on someone else. The security guard was right there and asked her to leave calmly, and the girl was remarkable in her composure throughout. Made me so fucking angry though. by Gee_dude (Tue 16th Jun 2020 9:34am)

  • I’d just book a lesson, and accept you might need more than one. You want to be able to ask a stupid question ever time you doubt something, and you want someone to keep you right so you don’t accidentally end up somewhere you’re not ready for. • Maybe aye. I think the fact post folk use it to post petty rants and shit, that works when it’s stuff we all agree on like litter or in laws. But now, folk are so divided that a small rant about covid or protests becomes political and it’s just no fun for anyone. I dunno tho. by Gee_dude (Tue 21st Jul 2020 2:10pm)

Still, that phase ended and we were getting on alright. But now he’s still having folk over. Sending his pals to ask me for booze I won’t get back, getting in arguments through the night, STILL fucking on it at nearly noon. So aye, shite! by Gee_dude (Sat 12th Sep 2020 11:45am)

  • Yes but, lots of tipsy people more likely to say fuck it, back to mine n finish the night. And they can’t shut the pubs without driving folk to house parties. It’s hard to balance because I think stopping people gathering at home has to be the top priority, while that’s what the data shows. People are getting way too lax about visiting each other and part of it feels like there needs to be some snap to get folk to take it seriously again. by Gee_dude (Tue 22nd Sep 2020 9:26am)

But because my perception has been that I’m doing well, I’ve kind of used that as justification for stretching the rules a bit on occasion. Definitely got the sense thought that most people are following to the letter, so I need to do better. • Good job. I only ever smoked a pack a week, but a lot of the time that meant spacing them out, or saving them for a *treat*. Like Thursday night, housework done, a bottle of wine down, I’d go out the front for my first smoke of the week and it was such a nice ritual. I kept that up, just a short late night walk with my favourite tunes (and a vape), definitely had the same effect for me.
