The only reason I even knew about this happening was because of this subreddit. • You can tell this is from an American since the focus is on commercialism and high-density housing. You can tell it's a couple of years old, since 'Sotchyhall' Street isn't dead as it is today. Why's he so obsessed with parks and shade? 'Heatstroke in Glasgow!' Does he know that Glasgow is hundreds of years old and named 'Dear Green Place' for a reason? Blythswood would still be open if it wasn't for people abusing it. 'Distant slum-crowded exclave'? Wow... Entertaining watch! by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Fri 27th Mar 2020 2:40pm)

  • My experience has been no matter the shop size and location, people don't give a fuck. I've not had to go for food yet, but when I do, I'll be heading to a 24 hour shop in the late evening early morning to avoid people. Now I just need to convince my mum that hopping to the petrol station for food isn't an essential trip... by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sun 29th Mar 2020 2:16am)

  • I've been going out for an hour's exercise max as late as possible to avoid people. In the park, runners and cyclists sail right past you and take up the middle of the path, forcing you to move into the grass and flowerbeds in order to maintain a 2m distance. Dog owners are petting each others dogs. I've seen several people sitting on the benches have a nice wee smoke break to contemplate things. Groups of people are walking around the park side by side, saying goodbye at the gates then going their separate ways. Even walking through an industrial state at 10pm doesn't stop cyclists swooping up behind you despite literally the entire area being empty. I've started walking on the road where I can and keeping my head on a swivel so I can get as far away from oncoming people as possible. It's not worth the risk. It's gotten past the point of ignorance into malice. I'm going to take a two metre stick with me and hold it out to anyone approaching me. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sun 5th Apr 2020 2:03pm)
  • When it started, it was great fun and made some genuine friends from it. Then it became a drama-filled popularity contest. • Was looking forward to reading the /r/scotland discussion about it, [but they locked it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scotland/comments/fvlh2v/catherine_calderwood_resigns_over_after_lockdown/) by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Mon 6th Apr 2020 11:58am)
  • I had to lock down with my mum because the ventilation in my flat has started making a low pitched rumble and of course the factor don't know anything about it or how to access it. I'd rather be at home, but not if it means I can't sleep for the next three months. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Tue 7th Apr 2020 10:38am)
  • Been ordering stuff online to avoid going to the shops including a variety of goods with no problems the last couple of weeks. As expected, we're pretty much in literally all day. Was expecting a delivery yesterday and I get an email saying Hermes was delivering it. Of course, after being in all day, nothing arrives and I get an email saying 'wE hAd A pRoBlEm DeLiVeRiNg To YoUr AdDrEsS' with no further details, despite being on a main road, having a porch and we can literally see anyone coming and going down the garden path. I'd give any other courier the benefit of the doubt, but Hermes has screwed me over so badly in the past, it's hard not to think it's just sheer incompetence instead. Sent off an enquiry as to the status of my parcel and didn't receive anything back. I'll give it another day and then just cancel with the retailer if nothing appears. It's not worth the hassle. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Tue 7th Apr 2020 10:47am)

  • I had the same issue with 101 being useless. Neighbours set up a loud all-night outdoor karaoke party. Called 101, two cops turned up, went in and almost immediately left. The next song played was 'I Fought The Law' and then it continued as normal. They were useless in my situation, but I'd honestly have thought they'd more useful with the current situation on. Surprised by what happened, really. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Thu 9th Apr 2020 10:57am)
  • In my attempts to get the noise from the cupboard in my close sorted, my factor has told me that they don't know what's in the cupboard, that they don't have any access to the cupboard and to ask my neighbours if they can help. I'm failing to see why we're being made to pay factor fees when they don't know anything about the building they're meant to be looking after. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Thu 9th Apr 2020 7:48pm)
  • No idea. Can't access it, so no idea what the noise is. I'll see if they can give me a key to access it. Not holding out much hope, though. This is the same factor that quoted £200 to put a noticeboard on the wall. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Fri 10th Apr 2020 1:24am)
  • I went for a walk around my local park later in the evening. Managed to stay away from people pretty easily, until I was leaving. There's one very small gateway entrance and as I was about to leave, a car pulled right up beside it and the hazards came on. A woman got out and opened the boot, letting an excited Pomeranian out and run into the park off a lead, which of course ran right up to me and started jumping at my legs. Standing at a reasonable distance waiting for her to get out of the way, she proceeded to then pull a micro scooter out of the car which started smacking off her legs, loudly saying 'fuck's sake, fuck's sake' as it did so. She wasn't moving as this was happening. After standing stationary for around three minutes as this woman smashed a micro scooter off her ankles, swore under her breath and let her excited dog run around off a lead, she started staring at me and it became clear that she wouldn't be moving any time soon. I ended up just walking past her as quickly as possible and changing clothes when I got in the house. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Fri 10th Apr 2020 2:41pm)

  • More drama in the my local area's Facebook group. Yesterday a guy posted that even though three members of his family were confirmed infected with COVID-19, they would still be undertaking their regular routine including outdoor walks and that he would be willing to buy shopping for vulnerable neighbours. There was immediate outrage that he could be so irresponsible and the admins removed the post. Today an account with a smiling old man as the profile picture and a questionable name popped up, comparing the deletion of the previous thread to Nazi control - he should know, seeing as he fought them during the war! One mod posted that the spread of misinformation and potentially endangering others was unacceptable and turned off comments. Then another member told people to avoid the original poster and posted a picture of him, which another user discovered was a picture of a vet from Berwick. Accusations of trolling resulted in what seems to be a purge of every post. Magnificent stuff. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sun 26th Apr 2020 10:51am)

  • It seems that the street right outside my bedroom window is the place for late night chat in Glasgow. Was woken up by someone loudly discussing the price of a can of Irn Bru at half 4 on Wednesday morning, then a half 1 smoke break from a couple of boy racers at half this morning. Nice to hear their thrumming and full blast ringtones constantly going off. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Thu 30th Apr 2020 11:16am)
  • That makes sense being near a pub, but my window is on a (usually) quiet side street. It's bizarre that so much has started to happen on it. At least you could hear the conversations. • My maw's pal caught a house in their area having guests sneaking in and out of the back garden all day Saturday. 101 are useless. A while ago, my neighbours had an unannounced karaoke party that ended up going all night. Was working the next day and ended up calling 101 at about 11:30pm. About midnight, a police car rocks up, two cops go inside, have a wee chat to someone then leave after about five minutes. The awful singing kept going, with the first song being sung after they left ironically 'I Fought The Law'. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Mon 4th May 2020 12:52pm)
  • I'm really not understanding why people can't set up video calls these days. Like you said, it's not difficult at all, yet people can't seem to work such simple technology we've had for years at this point. It's even better when you set up a meeting days in advance, only to have everyone complain they don't know what they're doing at the meeting time. Hope your family member is okay. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Mon 4th May 2020 12:56pm)

  • It's a package to someone buying some collectibles from me, so I don't know them other than correspondence on reddit. Yeah, Parcelforce said I'd need to inventory the entire package. Not sure if I could say 155 x soft toys or have to individually list each one , which would be hellish. There's no reason a package under 5kg will cost £80 to ship. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Thu 7th May 2020 12:21am)

  • UBI should be instituted and maintained even after the pandemic. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sat 9th May 2020 12:35pm)
  • It's unfair that the majority of people are born into highly unequal societies where they have to do rote, meaningless work in order to survive. My life - and I'm sure that of many others' - would be much more bearable and manageable if I knew that all the costs of basic necessities needed to survive were covered. I wouldn't need the mental strain of constantly worrying about income and my financial situation, particularly when I'm unable to get meaningful work despite my education and experience. I'd be much more productive at any job I did get, knowing that the money I made would be put towards treats and things I wanted to do as opposed to just going straight towards bills. The pandemic has also shown that people when given the opportunity won't just sit about and do nothing. UBI would allow people to find more meaningful work, work towards things that give themselves and others value, allow people to study for careers they want and increase spending in the economy. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sat 9th May 2020 2:10pm)
  • My fundamental belief is that everybody should be born into a life with a good standard of living i.e. making life worth living which isn't the case for many people coping on the breadline. It's not 'lazy' to wish that everybody had a decent standard of living without being exploited. UBI would be the baseline 'wage' for everybody and any work people do on top of that would be supplemental income, so anybody wanting to work would be able to. Working should be a choice, not a necessity. The problems you mention, while personal troubles, are highly linked with social issues that need to be examined and tackled from a wider social perspective. From your phrasing, you're making it sound like the individuals are the problem as opposed to the circumstances surrounding them that cause it. These underlying issues need to be solved rather than the blame being placed on the individuals suffering from them. People use services such as hire purchase to gain these items and can't actually really afford to purchase them outright. This is a result of the aspirational consumerist lifestyle that we're constantly bombarded with. As for gaining the luxuries in the first place, these are things that make life enjoyable: why should they only be available to those fortunate enough to get a well-playing job? Why can't people being given the money to pay those bills also become a normal part of life? We disagree on it being an issue. I see it as a massive one, where people should be able to have a life without being exploited by to work in meaningless, low-paid jobs purely to subsist. I believe UBI would not only increase quality of life for many people, it would also increase attraction to the workforce and contribution to the economy. > Surely the answer is to make sure there is a significantly sensible level of minimum wage and to ensure corporate tax frauds are pursued? I completely agree, but what is the likelihood of that happening under the current UK government? by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sat 9th May 2020 6:27pm)
  • Like I said, we fundamentally disagree on it being an issue. [If million/billionaires were taxed properly, there would be sufficient money to fund a UBI.](https://qz.com/1355729/universal-basic-income-ubi-costs-far-less-than-you-think/) by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sat 9th May 2020 7:04pm)

Social technology is super easy to use: apps like Skype have been around for 16 years and there's no excuse at this point for not being able to use it. All people have to do is literally click a link that I provide, but apparently even that's too much for some people to comprehend and that they 'can't use computers'. You literally only have to load Twitch in a browser to watch it and turning down the volume on a stream is extremely easy, yet people were watching it on mute because they couldn't figure it out. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Fri 22nd May 2020 1:04pm)

Turns out I'd gotten the days wrong and the agreed night was actually Friday. • From a comment I've previously made: CodeClan is awful. Had a terrible experience with them after being told how amazing the course was. They say it's perfect for beginners, but you actually have to know how to code before you begin. They make you do a few Codecademy courses before you start and if you don't understand them 100% by the time the cohort starts, then you're going to struggle. As advertised, the pace is fast, but if you struggle even at one point, you will fall behind. The pace is ruthless and if you're not a coding whiz like several wunderkinds in my cohort were, you'll be left behind. The course is catered towards the best in the class, not people like myself and another individual who struggled to grasp certain concepts due to the uninspiring lectures in a noisy classroom taught by lecturers who seemed to get easily frustrated. I was obviously the person in the class who struggled the most with understanding things and as a result I was in the building most of the week, making use of the lecturers, facilities and extra lessons to try and get my head around Ruby - which was taught instead of Python - while most others were enjoying their weekend after blasting through the weekend's homework in half an hour, yet I was the one who's commitment was questioned when I handed in a piece of coursework I'd slaved all weekend over only to be told it was subpar. I was put on 'level 1' support, which was basically 'read this free e-book on Ruby for children on top of all your other coursework', before I'd be dropped to another level, which was basically 'you're getting kicked off the course'. The stress of the course had me teetering on a nervous breakdown and realising it was bad for my health, I decided to pack it in halfway through. I asked for a refund for the weeks I wasn't doing and was told I wasn't getting one and despite the fact I was told they'd keep in touch about future courses and opportunities, they never did. While a good idea in theory, CodeClan in practice is a scheme to pump barely competent junior developers into the workplace for a quick buck. I keep in touch with some of my classmates and they've told me how the stuff they learned wasn't particularly relevant to what they're doing now. Another friend said they had a CodeClan graduate who was pretty useless at the job they were hired for. Apparently CC have their own job boards as well, but it's pretty sparse and usually only has jobs from call centres looking for people to work on the phones. It's a great skill to have, but I had such a terrible experience at CodeClan that I would be happy to never look at another line of code again. It might have changed since I was there - late 2017 - and it might be better than it was, but I had such an awful experience I simply can't recommend it. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sun 7th Jun 2020 1:45am)
  • No worries. [I found a page of reviews for it](https://www.coursereport.com/schools/codeclan) and this one more or less sums up exactly how I felt about the course. It's much more recent and seems to show that sadly little has changed. 'First of all, the instructors in terms of friendliness, the environment are all very good. But if you don't come with some prior knowledge in the IT field, the course goes very fast and there is no room/time/system in place for after class recaps for those that didn't understand the lesson that day. This will last the whole course. And I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Quite a few told me they would leave if they could get all or at least some considerable amount of their money back. So if you find yourself struggling, you need to go and ask and seek help, but this is easier said than done. You will get some answers, but you are mainly left to yourself. You will get some inspirational talk and cheers and affirmations, but this is not what you need or want. Again, instructors are friendly and approachable but they follow a strict curriculum and have the clock ticking to finish said topic in the set time in order for the next instructor to finish his/her lecture. Fact is that almost half of the cohort did not have at least a basic or good understanding at the end of the course, but were continuously pressed on to learn one language after another, to work through one lab after another. Instead of sitting down in a small group setting and making sure the weaker students understand the new unit. This would have been more beneficial. If you bring this suggestion up, you are being told that it will come to you and it will work itself out. Really? No, it doesn't. At the end nobody feels truly ready for a job (imposter syndrome), but for about 50% of the course this was the truth because they really weren't. Those that came with prior IT work experience (in any form) in the field it was a good course, I assume according to what I saw and what they were saying. For the rest of us who came from different fields, I definitely say that we were not taken care of enough and there is no system in place to help us catch up. The course offers Ruby, JS, Java, react and teaches about dbs, and more, but at the end it is all a mix of some knowledge without a good foundation in any. You don't learn one language well enough to feel you are a coder. There should be more time on making sure the cohort/class understands the topic instead of just pressing on and gauging knowledge and understanding of the class based on the strong experienced students. I felt I needed to write this since, I feel people are not honest for various reasons during the morning stand ups during the course and in other public settings and don't say how they really feel openly. I am very social and don't mind speaking my mind and make friends easily so I found it easy to speak to students in my cohort and to cohorts before ours and two after. Once you get to know people they will tell you one on one what is going on, but not openly. Had I read a review like this I would have reconsidered and saved a considerable amount of money. As far as employment. Yes, everybody finds a job in the suggested time frame given by codeclan, but many go back to their old jobs or something totally unrelated to the course taught. Do your research and make the right decision for yourself. Good luck!' by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sun 7th Jun 2020 1:58am)
  • I've noticed this pattern of blaming the individual rather than the organisation when it comes to people who aren't critical of CodeClan, particularly the assumption that I wasn't doing the work, taking the support offered and trying to work independently when possible. Rather than the course materials and tutors being lacking, it's the fact that the 'course is intensive', which I knew going in. I obviously was able to undertake the course starting requirements, which is how I was accepted in the first pplace. I realised that coding isn't for me, but I'd rather have been told by instructors and had some of my money refunded rather than strung along being told I could succeed when 'everything would just click'. CC might be worth it for some, but I and others in the reviews I've linked see it as a waste of time and money. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sun 7th Jun 2020 9:30am)

  • While I'm sure plenty of people had a fantastic time at CC, I and other people didn't and it's only fair to share my experience. It's telling that the posts defending the course are almost always condescending and insulting. People with the opposite viewpoint seem to be extremely bothered by people that don't rate it. I dedicated every waking hour to the course and it wasn't enough in the eyes of my tutors. To spend nearly every waking moment in the building then be told I wasn't dedicated enough to the course was insulting and demoralising. The support meant to help failed me and I was left disappointed. Again, other people may love the course, but that wasn't the case with me and others. Other people did better in the class, but that doesn't justify focusing on them and leaving the less capable of us behind, nor does it justify the poor support that was given considering how expensive the course is and the fact I was made to feel like I didn't belong. I may have made a mistake in choosing the course and discovered programming isn't for me, but to pay that amount of money only to be severely let down is why I don't recommend it. I've said my piece, others can say theirs and people can decide for themselves. Also usernames are irrelevant to a post's content and I thought it was clear that mine was meant to be humorous. by MILFs_PM_Me_Selfies (Sun 7th Jun 2020 1:31pm)
