  • How about the scientific research sector? It’s a big sector here in Glasgow but lots would never know it exists. CRO’s are big on ethics, morals, social responsibility and integrity, and are usually great to work for and gives you an extremely interesting insight even in a medial admin role. by NefariousnessFull581 (Fri 29th Apr 2022 10:48am)
  • I would say that some parts of Renfrewshire ‘tore the R away’ a lot heavier than other parts of Greater Glasgow. I can’t think of many specific examples at the moment as it’s usually when I’m in conversation with someone that I notice the differences. One I noticed most recently was someone from Paisley saying “ma breh’r” and their friend from Dennistoun then using the word “bruthur”. by NefariousnessFull581 (Sun 8th May 2022 12:23am)
  • Yeah it isn’t generic Scots though, some Scots words are used in the far north and not used anywhere in between but pop up in random pockets of deepest darkest Ayrshire. Either way, Scottish dialects and the way it is dispersed is fascinating. by NefariousnessFull581 (Sun 8th May 2022 2:53pm)
  • I fly in and out of there twice a week and it’s a hit or a miss with queues at security. Longest I’ve queued is just over 30min, other times I’ve gone in and been 5 min. Just give yourself plenty time. by NefariousnessFull581 (Tue 10th May 2022 10:14am)
  • Recently started a new job and it’s 50/50 WFH which is a good balance and seems to be common. I enjoy the office days. In my previous job I only ever worked at home for a few weeks. It was a busy transport office full of people coming and going and never caught the rona. Then ironically caught the rona from a ‘triple vaxxed’ WFH family member who liked to be vocal about how terrible it was that I was ‘forced’ to go into the office to be put at risk of catching it. by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 17th Aug 2022 10:55pm)
  • I’ve never felt that it cuts the city in half. It isn’t difficult to get from one side to the other and the roads surrounding aren’t fit for the volume of traffic. by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 17th Aug 2022 11:11pm)
  • Yeah I’ve never liked that end of town whether driving or walking. Strange vibes but I’m not convinced it’s entirely because of the motorway by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 17th Aug 2022 11:38pm)
  • I’m a scientist. I know exactly what they do. 👌🏼 My point was the irony of the family member who doesn’t understand what they do. by NefariousnessFull581 (Thu 18th Aug 2022 8:05am)
  • I don’t think the motorway is necessarily to blame for some communities being cut off, those parts of Glasgow has always been a little bit of a no man’s land, but I get what you are saying. by NefariousnessFull581 (Thu 18th Aug 2022 9:35am)
  • I earn what I would class as a good salary (2.2k pcm after tax) and my partner is on a much higher earnings than me. We split all outgoings. I don’t really buy myself ‘stuff’, we only go out for a meal once a month if that. I have to be careful what I’m spending otherwise I find myself skint for a week before pay day and I know that my colleagues are the same as they all openly say it (my colleagues are on the same salary as me because we work for one of those rare companies where salary transparency is a big thing so everyone in the same role earns the same money) I used to be able to save a decent amount but so far this year I haven’t saved anything and have depleted what I did have in my savings account. I worry about the future, and although I am extremely lucky to have a decent income I do spend an unhealthy amount of time worrying about people on lower incomes managing to get by at the moment 😔 by NefariousnessFull581 (Fri 19th Aug 2022 12:02am)

  • It isn’t just ‘the disease’ to be concerned about. A mate of mine died after contracting sepsis which was caused by a needle stick. by NefariousnessFull581 (Fri 26th Aug 2022 11:54pm)
  • Look on Facebook for your local window cleaners. The guys who do mine charge £7 and come every 3 weeks by NefariousnessFull581 (Fri 26th Aug 2022 11:51pm)
  • Just really bad luck I guess. The needle stick got an infection and lead to sepsis. It wasn’t even a big injury it was literally a tiny needle prick on her hand. by NefariousnessFull581 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 10:43am)
  • I lived in the city and the buzz wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, I much prefer living on the outskirts and hopping on a train into the city. It also depends how much you’re looking to spend and what kind of property you are looking for? A house or a flat? Shawlands/Southside is nice but a bit overrated and overpriced IMO and is a bit of a hit or miss with who you end up with as neighbours. You need to choose carefully especially if you have a car and need to get parked. My friends who live there constantly have issues getting parked, I’ve seen myself going to visit and giving up after driving around for half an hour trying to get a space. They often go to leave for work in the morning and can’t get out of where they have parked because someone else has come along and parked so close. by NefariousnessFull581 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 2:15pm)

  • Contact Women’s Aid or the Daisy Project for help with your situation. I would think the only realistic way is to get a restraining order or move out of the area. First move would be to change your phone number so than he doesn’t have it and if he turns up at your home don’t let him in and phone the police. If he is coming to stay with you after leaving prison don’t you have to be the one to agree to it in the first place, don’t they need to give an address of where they will be living before they are released? by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 31st Aug 2022 6:22pm)
  • Sounds like a scam tbh, not sure what energy provider would send a voucher via text when you don’t have a prepayment meter to use it on by NefariousnessFull581 (Thu 8th Sep 2022 10:51am)
  • Wow, really? Don’t know why it has never occurred to me before that there is a big SA/nonce issue at goma but guess it makes sense when it’s a hotspot for youngsters hanging out by NefariousnessFull581 (Thu 8th Sep 2022 3:53pm)
  • We’ve been streaming our own playlists in work the last few days because it feels like we are being forced into feeling sombre by listening to Clyde1. Our office is usually full of ‘banter’ but it was eerily quiet. Radio 2 has been particularly unbearable, not that it is ever bearable. by NefariousnessFull581 (Sun 11th Sep 2022 10:18am)
  • Always thought I would have liked to live in America but having spent a few months working there I changed my mind. European cities are more my feel. Krakow - very welcoming city with a nice vibe to it. Good public transport and reasonable cost of living. Fond of a lot of places in Denmark too. The obvious Copenhagen, but also Frederiksberg, Aalborg, Aargus. All great places to visit and live in my opinion. The public transport across Denmark is great. by NefariousnessFull581 (Mon 12th Sep 2022 9:42am)
  • What type of jobs are you applying for? The way you write your CV has a lot to do with it. Make sure you have a short paragraph at the beginning describing your skills and experience reverent to that role. Some jobs, for example shop assistant roles, tend to attract huge numbers of applicants - I’m talking well over 1000 applicants to one advert. I work in a skilled role and we advertised for an entry level admin position and got over 300 applicants. There really were only a handful out of those 300 that were in any way suitable to even invite to interview and even then it was a painful process. by NefariousnessFull581 (Mon 12th Sep 2022 2:27pm)
  • I would be happy to help if it means getting a person into the work. However, what type of thing is it you’re looking to get into exactly when you say business? by NefariousnessFull581 (Mon 12th Sep 2022 3:04pm)

  • Jamaica street or concert square. I would avoid Mitchel street tbh, it’s sketchy enough there often during the day with people hanging about the stairs. by NefariousnessFull581 (Sun 18th Sep 2022 9:08am)

  • I’ve been away a lot recently so haven’t spend much time here the last 6 months. Now I’m back and yesterday while driving through the city I actually felt real sense of sadness at the state of things. One thing that has really started to stand out to me over the last few years is the ever increasing level of poverty and number of people hanging around the streets. by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 19th Oct 2022 9:44am)

  • I fly to London every other week and I usually get to the airport 90 minutes before my flight time unless it’s peak times such as school holidays. Why would taxis not run at that time? Taxi and Uber are 24/7. This isn’t the back country you’re in. 🤣 by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 26th Oct 2022 10:22am)

  • I learned this lesson when I turned up as instructed by NHS24 for an ‘appointment’ at MIU. The woman at reception looked at me like I had 6 heads for asking where I go for the minor injury unit and I felt like a right fanny when I had to sit and wait for 2 hours to be seen. by NefariousnessFull581 (Tue 8th Nov 2022 11:26am)

  • Decathlon, Go Outdoors, Mountain Warehouse, Regatta. You don’t need North Face for Glasgow but I would recommend making sure it is waterproof and not just ‘shower proof’. Regatta have some decent winter jackets, and Go Outdoors have a good selection of more affordable brands, and Decathlon have good quality gear too. by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 9th Nov 2022 9:58pm)
  • Vinted, Decathlon, Go Outdoors, or any charity shop. by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 9th Nov 2022 9:55pm)
  • Money aside, it’s about the principle of this. You do not owe your boss anything other than carrying out your job effectively and you should never be made to feel like you should contribute to anything else. End of. This is the type of bullshit I can’t stand. They’re your boss, not your friend and your contribution to the company is what earns them their ££££. The person who started the collection for this needs to have a word with themselves. by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 8:59am)

  • I work for a supplier to the hospitality industry and I can confirm this prick is black listed. If only others would do the same he would struggle to even open a business in the first place of the suppliers got on board with black listing the cunt. by NefariousnessFull581 (Thu 12th Jan 2023 9:24am)

  • I get that it’s annoying, but as someone who has lived in a permit area, it generally it won’t stop people from parking there. But the ironic privilege of having a permit is that it will cost you money to not be able to park outside your own home. There aren’t really that many events on and it’s like that in loads of areas whenever there are events on its part of living in a city unfortunately. Maybe you could get onto your councillor and get your street some free event tickets or some sort of compensation for the hassle? by NefariousnessFull581 (Tue 27th Jun 2023 11:56pm)
  • They can’t have posted much about it I just scrolled through their Insta and there’s nothing about it posted on there. They would be better posting it on a Facebook page, it would reach a larger demographic more likely to be parents or grandparents etc with kids by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 28th Jun 2023 12:06am)
  • I have to say I agree with this. There is an overwhelming sense of lack of responsibility and pride amongst the people living and using the city, and it shows in the form of filthy streets, vandalism of anything and everything, and generally feeling unsafe in the streets. by NefariousnessFull581 (Wed 28th Jun 2023 12:22am)
