  • The problem I keep having is when I try new treatments they either make my skin worse or improve my skin for a short period of time before it comes back. There was a period in 2019 where I went on a strict and healthy vegan diet and I saw major improvement. This lasted some months before my entire head flared up again for reasons unknown to me. Recently I tried the raw honey method again. At the same time I've added caprylic acid to my supplements and this improved my skin almost to the point where the redness was almost gone entirely. This stopped working over the past week or so and my skin has flared up really bad. I get what you mean in regards to stress. Most of my flare ups are probably down to high stress levels. It's a bitch that stress is pretty much unavoidable. I've never bothered about walking around with red, flaky patches all over my face and scalp but the constant itchy, prickly burning really hits me hard. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Thu 29th Apr 2021 11:07pm)
  • Thanks! I haven't heard of this facewash before. I'll definitely give it a shot. I used to use E45 emollient face wash and E45 moisturising lotion and these worked pretty well. The emollient was pretty bad at clogging the sink though! by Substantial_Sun_880 (Thu 29th Apr 2021 11:11pm)
  • Funnily enough I once considered traditional Chinese treatment when I noticed an acupuncture clinic on High Street. Maybe I'll pop in for a consultation sometime. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Fri 30th Apr 2021 12:38am)
  • I used to regularly use Nizoral 2% cream for my face and H&S for my scalp. I've also used a steroid cream and various other shampoos (coal tar and such). Like pretty much every treatment I've tried these just control the seb derm for a while before it eventually flares up again. If I keep applying the skin will eventually calm down but will once more flare up again and again and again... I'm currently in the mind set of trying everything and anything until I can find that one thing (or combination of things) that works to completely eradicate this disease. My GP said this isn't possible but some testimonies online claim otherwise. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Fri 30th Apr 2021 10:41am)
  • This! What the fuck is wrong with some people to decide 'this human deserves condemnation due to their vehicle choice.' When I cycle: I'm treated like a villain. When I leave the bike at home and walk: I'm just another random human. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND THIS!!! by Substantial_Sun_880 (Wed 5th May 2021 7:37pm)
  • Seriously though... What have we become as a society when something as simple as a bicycle can make some people really pissed off? How many arguments have been started over this vehicle? How many people have been intimidated by a motorist flying past whilst edging closer just because they chose to cycle today? If they chose to drive then this probably wouldn't have happened. How many angry and abusive words have been thrown around just because someone wanted to cycle? How much energy have people wasted trying to devise new ways to "get back" at these cyclists? The fuck is wrong with the world these days? Stop being so irrational and stop seeing the bicycle. See the human riding the fucking thing! This human was probably you when you were a kid and you were learning to ride for the first time. Everyone was a cyclist at some point in their life. I started riding a couple years back and am flabbergasted at the amount of abuse that came my way since day one! I never came across such pricks in my life before I started riding and now it's almost a daily occurrence. I'm done wasting energy on people who hate a specific method of transport. Ya'll can sort your own crazy shit out. I gots my own. Peace. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Wed 5th May 2021 8:05pm)
  • So just because a person is 60 they should put their life in danger? I get that if the road conditions call for it then they should be courteous and remain on the road but personally it's much safer to hop on the pavement for some stretches of road. Particularly 40mph limit roads where cars will certainly be doing 50ish. I also get that when I do feel the need to hop a pavement I'm a guest up there and should take it slow and give pedestrians right of way. Just to note: the police have seen me do this many times and have never looked twice. They either 'get it' or they simply see no harm coming from it. Also to note: I've never actually heard of a cyclist colliding with anyone so far. I only hear of close calls. That's not to say there's never been a collision between a cyclist and a pedestrian but I only ever hear of cyclists colliding with other vehicles. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Thu 6th May 2021 8:47am)
  • I've always found it interesting that it's against the law to cycle over the stop line but perfectly legal to hop off the bike and walk over the stop line. If the green men are up that is. May surprise some brainwashed fools, but a red light doesn't necessary mean STAY HERE. Just like a green light doesn't necessary mean YOU MUST GO. I EAT DOWNVOTES FOR BREAKFAST. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Thu 6th May 2021 8:53am)
  • Something could have happened to the guy. They might have been heckled or abused by a pedestrian or motorist before hand and they were taking frustrations out on the next person. Or they were simply an inconsiderate prick. Pricks are becoming the dominant breed in society and they may come in all forms: cyclists, motorists, pedestrians, skateboarders, joggers, dog walkers etc. The best way to deal with pricks is to not over think their actions and to realise that for someone to go through life so angry all the time must mean that they're so miserable all the time and that they live miserably. I now pity pricks. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Thu 6th May 2021 8:59am)

  • I thought the bus stops being pushed out were a result of the extended pavement thing they done? I just assumed they left these in after they took the plastic monstrosities away. Speaking of those plastic monstrosities. I mind a time where the weather was reallllyyyy fucking windy and I was on my moped going up Hope Street (I think). A gust pushes out an entire connected row of these big plastic things towards me from the front!! I had assumed they were filled with water to keep them grounded. Apparently they weren't or this made no difference. The wind is a different beast when it comes to Scotland. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Thu 6th May 2021 9:29am)

  • A mobility scooter is an "actual vehicle". Should they all crowd the roads at 5mph? What happens when they need cross the pavement to hop into a shop? Same question for wheelchairs, prams yada yada. Define vehicle. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Thu 6th May 2021 5:22pm)
  • I was merely pointing out that saying a bike is an "actual vehicle" doesn't mean it belongs on the roads at all times. There are many "actual vehicles" out there if you want to use the actual definition for a vehicle. You really think cyclists hop pavements primarily for their convenience? • I use my Merida Espresso e-bike in the centre most days for my job. It's a good way to get around and cuts up the steepest of hills (Looking at you Strathcylde Uni) no bother. To get a half decent e-bike you need to pay at least a couple of grand though. I had an e-scooter a few years back. I cheaped out and got one off Amazon for a few hundred. It lasted maybe a couple of months before it stopped working. I used to go out in all weather and suspect that some water damage occurred. It was wayyy more fun than the ebike. I have some fond memories of cutting down Buchanan Street. That said, the battery never lasted that long and it was a bitch to retain a smooth, slow speed. As far as I'm aware a good quality e-bike can be used in all weather. I use mine all year round. With e-scooters you're limited to dry weather. Light showers at the most. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 9:17pm)

  • You must be the prime example of a "law abiding citizen". When you say pavement. Are you referring to the shared spaces? I.e. Buchanan Street Argyll Street and Sauchiehall Street. The majority of cyclists tend to use roads and pavements whenever the circumstances call for it. The fact that the majority do this would suggest that what I do is what a normal person does. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 10:18pm)

  • It's illegal in Scotland for a boy under the age of 10 to see a naked mannequin. There's a lot of those out there at shop windows. They're breaking a very stupid law. • I'd also like to mention that I've been a courier for almost two years and have always cycled the way I do and have never had any kind of incident. I've been accused of colliding with a pedestrian on my bicycle by Deliveroo. Apparently someone opened an insurance claim saying they were hit by a courier at a time and place that I was there. I would definitely remember this happening. They decided to fuck with my livelihood. I haven't heard back in regards to this so Deliveroo must have found it to be fraudulent. Just one example of how cyclists are treated in this city. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 10:48pm)
  • Walking pace is what I do. You really think someone who cycles for a full time job is capable of hitting into someone while rolling at walking pace? And if they were to, you really think their dual disc brakes that are always serviced won't stop on time? by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 10:45pm)
  • I am Deliveroo/Ubereats and have recieved nothing but abuse from the Glasgow public almost on a daily basis ever since I started this job. Even on my first day. Why should all cyclists be painted with the same brush? by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 10:51pm)
  • Then I refer you to my comment of pedestrians who always zig zag in front of cyclists to make some sort of point. If they were not to do this they'd pass by without any hassle. I have a theory that some people want to create hassle with cyclists simply because they don't like cyclists. Just so that they can create a problem where none existed by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 10:55pm)
  • If we all stereotyped then I'd despise all motorists and pedestrians purely from the shit I experience on any given shift. I'd hate all dogs due to being bitten when I was younger. I'd hate all bees because of that one bastard who stung me! But I don't stereotype. I treat people on an individual basis. It's that simple. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 11:02pm)
  • I do 80% of the time as I can move faster on the roads. Sometimes it's faster to use a pavement rather than follow one way systems. Or sometimes the pavement leads to a shared space like Glasgow Green and it's safer to hop on early with parked cars behind me rather than awkwardly slide over later with cars up my ass. Sometimes I'm coming from a restaurant after picking up an order and am making my way onto the road. It's safer to be cycling on the road rather than walking onto traffic just to mount my bike. Sometimes it's to get from A to B faster as I only get paid fairly if I'm as fast as possible. Sometimes I'm coming off the road to search for building numbers as this requires me to move really slow and is much safer than having cars zoom past while doing this. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 11:14pm)
  • Mostly it's down to statistics. I spend 8-9 hours, five or six days each week cycling. If I spent all this time in traffic there's a good chance I might die. Where most cyclists spend an hour or two commuting to and from work. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 11:18pm)
  • In the space of almost two years doing this job I've been hit by a car, swerved out the way from countless doors opening from parked cars due to zero space, swerved out the way from countless vehicles "not seeing me". In other words inpatient or failing to judge my speed and I've lost the feeling of nerves when cars swerve past too closely as this has wore off due to being a frequent occurrence. In the space of almost two years doing this job I've never hit or nearly hit a pedestrian. So fuck anyone who tries to dictate how I take control of my own safety and my level of earnings for a very dangerous job. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Mon 10th May 2021 11:23pm)

  • Where did you get that as my reason for cycling on pavements? by Substantial_Sun_880 (Tue 11th May 2021 6:05pm)
  • I do a lot of cycling around Glasgow and switch between roads and pavements whenever I feel the need to. Some facts: 1) I've never had an incident where I've collided or nearly collided with a pedestrian on any road or pavement. 2) I've been hit by a car and had multiple near hits involving vehicles where the driver "never saw me" or "was in a rush". There's also the near misses with parked car doors opening. It's not always possible to make space for these as cyclists tend to get wedged between parked cars and fast moving cars. My most recent incident was last week where a car failed to give way and basically drove into the rear end of my bike after I had to quickly manoeuvre out of their way. They saw my gopro and stopped. They got out, apologised a million times and said they were in a hurry to pick their kids up. 3)If I were ever to collide with a pedestrian when I make use of the pavements it would involve a pedestrian being slightly knocked into by a cyclist going about 5mph. Though I'd likely have slammed my brakes and dodged them as best as possible so it would probably involve a cyclist brushing into them. If (when) I collide with a car, bus, van, truck etc. whilst using the roads I am likely to be injured and hospital bound, killed or at the very least grazed with a damaged expensive bike that I rely on for my income. 4) I have never heard of any pedestrian in Glasgow being hit by a cyclist on the roads or pavements. I have heard of a good few pedestrians being hit by cars and buses. Usually buses. 5) Bring up the statistics for collisions between pedestrians and cyclists and motorists and cyclists and I'm fairly confident (without actually checking because I'm lazy) that the latter will by far have the majority. Here's my advice: You can try and have a rational discussion with people who are against pavement cyclists but you'll always hear the same shit over and over and over. 'IT'S AGAINST THE LAW'. This is their mantra. They recite it in their fucking sleep. There's no reasoning with people like this. They won't ever complain when vehicles park on pavements or when the council drive their road cleaners onto pavements (before anyone says this has to be done you should know that there exist ones that are pushed rather than driven. GCC have both but they always drive a big fucking vehicle on a small pavement on Trongate which is against the law). They will only complain when people cycle on pavements. So just keep cycling where ever you feel you need to. As long as you're doing it respectfully and with consideration then there's no problem. The police don't issue fines for this because they are rational and understand that there's more danger on the roads for cyclists. I'd also recommend using headphones when you cycle. You see people's pointing to the road with grumpy faces but you can just shrug that shit off more easily. Also bear in mind that the people who bitch and moan about their safety with cyclists on the pavements are probably the same people walking in front of traffic and almost getting hit whilst the little man is red. I've witnessed many near hits in this regard. Usually involving buses (I have nothing against buses). I genuinely think some people get some kind of pleasure from bitching and moaning. Tomorrow could be the day where all cyclists stay on the roads at all times and the statistics for collisions will sky rocket. But these people will list find something else to bitch and moan about. Fuck em. by Substantial_Sun_880 (Fri 4th Jun 2021 11:22pm)
