  • Human Hotel are still charging admin to visitors even if you host for free, which isn't so good. I'm hoping to hear through activist channels as an alternative for my own spare room. Will post something here once I hear back. by fiverfeed (Fri 3rd Sep 2021 11:27pm)
  • Bookings for the ferry to the Holy Isle from Arran are open again now too (tho the centre is closed), more spiritual than occult but beautiful scenery and wild ponies and goats roaming about. It's definitely a special place! https://www.facebook.com/holyisleferry/ by fiverfeed (Sat 11th Sep 2021 11:38pm)
  • Zombietroot? Cadavercados? I could go on ... by fiverfeed (Fri 1st Oct 2021 8:38am)
  • I would absolutely follow up with any evidence you have. I was knocked back earlier this year as I applied outwith the time period. Except, I didn't apply outwith the time period, and could easily prove this from the date of the email I was sent acknowledging receipt of the application. And it was "reviewed" by a different assessor, and I got it. Can't prove that it's standard practice to reject the first application in the hope it won't be challenged, but it was so blatantly and illogically incorrect that it crossed my mind. Hope it works out. by fiverfeed (Fri 1st Oct 2021 2:25pm)
  • Add me in please! :) Really like Stereo too. Good choice. by fiverfeed (Mon 4th Oct 2021 2:50pm)
  • Lot of folk suggesting Monzo, weirdly I got an account with the very similarly named Monese. It's all stated quite clearly here [https://monese.com/gb/en/features/account-opening](https://monese.com/gb/en/features/account-opening) It was fine for when I needed it, except the one time they froze the account just after money was paid in, and they were very hard to reach. Then suddenly it was fixed. Lasted maybe 5 days but that's 3/4 years I've had it. by fiverfeed (Mon 4th Oct 2021 3:10pm)
  • I'm in Springburn and just joined/had an induction. Nice compact wee gym, easy to get to know whatj/where everything is in 30 minutes, and I have a feeling there'll be times when it's empty. I was there at 4pm on a Friday and there were 3 other people there. Also LOADS of classes too. Plus, no joining fee on GC at the mo' and no early cancellation fees or anything either. Seems like a good deal and as other folk said I gather the Kelvin Hall is near you so there's options. Good luck! by fiverfeed (Sat 9th Oct 2021 8:58pm)
  • Only just encountered this community garden/space recently, a wee bit down/towards town from Shawlands, other side of Queens Park but it's a lovely space and the folk I've met there have been sound. I'm in the north so haven't gotten involved, but sure it ticks some of the boxes for ya. https://thebowlinggreen.org.uk/ by fiverfeed (Fri 15th Oct 2021 12:03pm)
  • Seems to be a few folk here in the same boat. I'm sober 9 months and not doing any meetings etc just trying to fill my time with other things, not affected my social life as I only came back to Glasgow last year after 6 years and didn't have one to lose, plus Covid. Would be interested in any kind of a meetup/group (well, lets see what covid gets up to first) that's for those trying to maintain sobriety where you could do stuff and things. Been trying out some new hobbies but I think having a bunch of folk for whom its most likely a distraction rather than a passion is probably better suited. Feels like gatecrashing someones calling in life sometimes, when Im just looking for something to do that isn't drinking. :) Anyway, hope y'all meet whatever goals yer aiming for over xmas and into 2022. by fiverfeed (Wed 22nd Dec 2021 11:26pm)
  • Blochairn Car Boot sale starts again in February. Haven't been in years but it's a biggie and first one in ages is sure to be busy. Good luck! by fiverfeed (Sat 8th Jan 2022 11:44pm)
  • For those saying there should be funding etc there sort of is, have a look here. The prominent murals around the city and some less so have been funded from this I'm sure. Who's got na idea? https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/citycentremuralfund by fiverfeed (Tue 11th Jan 2022 11:38pm)
  • I'd be interested. My main musical project at the moment is taking all my own songs that I wrote on guitar and turning them into piano versions which I only started playing in October. Be good to just jam out some weirdness. I write songs but don't read music, play guitar and now keys it seems. Can sing a bit. Like fannying about with music. What now? by fiverfeed (Sun 6th Feb 2022 11:15pm)
  • How about organising this into some sort of meetup for interested folk first, work out common ground/aims/ideas? Thirsty Thursdays don't work for me tbh, something that could lead to musical projects would be great though. Sound Sundays? :) by fiverfeed (Mon 7th Feb 2022 10:59pm)
  • Saw this earlier and wanted to come back to it, hope the OP has gotten something sorted out with all the advice flying in! As a sort of side note, I saw someone mentioning "working poor" and "benefits" earlier, just a personal anecdote, I started working full time for min wage recently, single and live in social rented accomodation, and even working full time, my take home pay is low enough that I still get a wee bit of universal credit. It's wiped out by my previous advances mind you, however that won't last forever and though min wage will increase, NI increase might leave me with less take home, therefore still due UC. Anyone finding themselves working and worrying about the looming cost of living crisis, um, might be an idea to use a benefit calculator and see if you "might" actually be due a little back from the DWP. Taking a full time job honestly made little difference to my disposable income as you then account for paying full council tax etc as a result also. I'd been living abroad for a while, came back mid covid, now doing what I can to get by but in this strange, twisted world, where minimum wage is so low that I still qualify for out of work benefits while working full time. So it goes. Also, regarding paying council tax, I checked today to see that the cost of living discount has been applied, might make a difference to some of you. £150 all in it seems, mine was taken from my first 2 instalments for the year so next months is cancelled out, yass! Should be automatic I believe but best to check regardless. Not like GCC never make mistakes ... Not specific to the OP as such, but hope this helps someone out there! by fiverfeed (Fri 11th Mar 2022 12:00am)
  • I briefly worked for an energy company last year, one thing that I was reminded of from when I'd also done so 20 years ago was - A fixed rate D/D tariff does NOT mean that's you getting unlimited gas and electric for that price, nor that the monthly amount will not change. Hopefully everyone here is down with that however I spoke to 30 - 40 customers a day and this was the most common misconception. The "fixed" rate is your standing charges and unit rates, the monthly d/d is a wildly inaccurate estimate of your annual usage cost on that tariff divided into 12 monthly payments. Which can be increased by them whenever they like, even if you're in credit, because they "estimate" you might use more yadda yadda. I'm honestly gonna shower every day at my gym, i'd be paying/going anyway, and that's probably my biggest energy drain. Now does anyone know where I can fill a flask with boiling water for all my coffee's while I'm homeworking? by fiverfeed (Sat 12th Mar 2022 8:13pm)
  • Do you own a green lacoste tracky by any chance? (See post on the "most Glasgow thing ever" thread involving a guy in a lacoste tracky, some chickens and some foxes, made me chuckle to then read this post!) by fiverfeed (Fri 18th Mar 2022 11:24pm)
  • Not quite what you're looking for maybe but could be worth joining and getting on the mailing list of [https://glasgowtoollibrary.com/](https://glasgowtoollibrary.com/) as they do have events and still have a container here [https://civic-house.com](https://civic-house.com/phoenix-nursery/) with a yard/events space, hell, put 2 and 2 together and you could maybe start something if you know what you're doing. by fiverfeed (Fri 18th Mar 2022 11:20pm)
  • Another belter of a day. Taken a jaunt to Dawsholm on my bike already and it's blue skies all around. How y'all planning to spend this sunny Spring Sunday? by fiverfeed (Sun 20th Mar 2022 11:09am)
  • Mrs. Falafel on Woodlands Road, though there are pricier options, the basic falafel pitta with salad still remains £3.50 and is delicious, plus you can pick 2 sauces. Really, really good. by fiverfeed (Fri 25th Mar 2022 4:40pm)

  • https://diggersanddreamers.org.uk/communities/scotland/ feel like Glasgow should have something along these lines but I don't know specifically. And if not, sure there's many people who would be interested. by fiverfeed (Wed 30th Mar 2022 1:12pm)
  • I think there's every chance it's something bad for independent restaurants in the long run, going by what's been happening elsewhere. [https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2021/apr/25/deliveroo-tech-delivery-restaurant-service-dark-kitchens](https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2021/apr/25/deliveroo-tech-delivery-restaurant-service-dark-kitchens) seems to be the new aggregator/delivery platform business model judging by a few things I've read/seen recently. Gather all the market data then cut out the "middle man". Would be happy to stand corrected, but why wouldn't they do this in Glasgow? Where I live there isn't even a sit down restaurant anyway, it's all takeaway/home delivery. Once there's no independents left how many would notice/care where the food was made if they just mashed some keys on their phone to get it brought to the door? by fiverfeed (Wed 30th Mar 2022 9:11pm)
  • Like so much in life nowadays, there's an app for it, day passes for loads of gyms, though I was looking at one as I wanted to use sauna/steam etc, phoned up to check on some details and ended up getting a free pass instead, so no harm in wangling the free trial angle either. https://www.hussle.com/ by fiverfeed (Thu 31st Mar 2022 8:33am)
  • Thanks. In fairness I don't really know the mechanics of Reddit all that well, I just read stuff and occassionally reply, this may well have been my 2nd post ever. Taking everyones points on board! by fiverfeed (Wed 6th Apr 2022 8:09am)
  • Haven't had a proper look through the wiki actually ... Should start there and work backwards! by fiverfeed (Wed 6th Apr 2022 8:07am)
  • Aye, in my mind its a reddit equivalent of a backpackers hostel bar/communal space. You're in Glasgow and there's stuff you wanna do and maybe you'll meet people up for the same thing and/or they know some stuff to do that sounds interesting, and you can just hang out and go do the thing, it's not BFF as I said, though the added bonus is you might make new pals too. by fiverfeed (Wed 6th Apr 2022 8:14am)
  • Great, thanks. Taking everyones suggestions/points on board! by fiverfeed (Wed 6th Apr 2022 8:11am)
  • Not sure if i'm missing something from the academia de salsa page but it seems pretty straightforward regarding beginners classes, including Shawlands if you stay south or at Arta in city centre? by fiverfeed (Thu 7th Apr 2022 8:39am)
  • Last post was a year ago, suppose I could always be the one to revive it!? Saves a lot of bother actually ... by fiverfeed (Thu 7th Apr 2022 8:59am)
  • Cheers! Lets see how it pans out ... by fiverfeed (Thu 7th Apr 2022 8:58am)
  • Noted. Will hopefully have something good to go for next week, just taking on board all the suggestions/comments. by fiverfeed (Thu 7th Apr 2022 8:58am)
  • That includes some of my friends so I hear ya, the point would be that it's when you've got time, and hopefully finding people that matches up to! I have wandering days off midweek with my rota so that's one of my issues, who's free to go to something on a Thursday afternoon mid-month? by fiverfeed (Thu 7th Apr 2022 8:57am)
  • >r/makingfriendsglasgow Was on something similar when I lived in Berlin, totally forgot about that! Also a friend was telling me that Couchsurfing is/was good for this in other countries but they then tried using it here and it was just sleazy. Taking all the suggestions on board though, will hopefully have something tangible by next week! by fiverfeed (Thu 7th Apr 2022 8:56am)
  • >r/LondonSocialClub Thanks. Thinking I might start by hijacking the existing subreddit that's been inactive, r/makingfriendsglasgow though that doesn't really capture the spirit of what I'm after. Still just thinking it over and trying to look at the various things folk have suggested. Watch this space! by fiverfeed (Thu 7th Apr 2022 10:52pm)

  • Popped a post in the steamie for now for a meet up, but still formulating a plan, just would rather go out tonight than sit in working on that! https://www.reddit.com/r/glasgow/comments/tyvutg/the\_steamie\_friday\_8\_april\_2022/ by fiverfeed (Fri 8th Apr 2022 8:18am)
  • Gone with a post in the steamie today to start with, lets see how that pans out, but will defo formalise into some kind of thread/posts too. by fiverfeed (Fri 8th Apr 2022 8:17am)

  • Following a post I made in the main sub about making friends in Glasgow, now is as good a time as any for a "live" experiment. If like me you don't have anyone to do stuff with tonight, and you'd like to do stuff, then you can meet me and others like us (that's the theory) between 6pm and 7pm here [https://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/glaox-moxy-glasgow-merchant-city/](https://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/glaox-moxy-glasgow-merchant-city/) I know, meet at a hotel, makes me sound like some kind of laddie of the night, but i've been in on a Friday and it's quiet enough and there's places to sit/mingle, and there's a train station right there, plus 10 minutes walk from city centre, and it fits my vision of people in Glasgow living like a tourist/backpacker and just hanging out to do whatevers on at times they're free. No criteria other than - BRING AN IDEA! Something you'd like to do. Can't guarantee there'll be someone who wants to do that thing, but maybe someone will also have a thing you'd like to do. Then, away you go and do it, or something. Why 6 and 7? Plenty of stuff starts at 7.30 if that's the kind of thing you want to do. If tonight/that time etc doesn't work for ya, no worries, I'm working on better ways of doing this, just want to get out and about tonight and test out this way of doing things in the process. Plus I work from home and have no failsafe after work go out option, so this is a variation on that too. (Editing this as I go, 6 and 7 can be an arrival time, not everything starts at 7.30 obvs so it's just to ensure you don't miss out on anyone heading off to something earlier, if this works, which it may not ...) If all else fails, I have about 5 things on my list of possibles, don't mind going alone but would be cool to meet more cultural tourists like me who kind of wish they could go to everything that's on in Glasgow on any given night, and definitely don't just want to sit in a pub (though ironically that's the start point really). Bonus points if you're skint too and good at sniffing out fun free stuff. :) Don't think it'll be hard to spot me but if it's somehow mega busy or something i'll make it obvious. Maybe a sign on a table or something. Will be able to reply today at some point if anyone shows an interest here anyway. Maybe see you tonight! by fiverfeed (Fri 8th Apr 2022 8:15am)
  • Come to friendly Friday instead! See above. :) by fiverfeed (Fri 8th Apr 2022 1:20pm)
  • 'Which pub' is the important bit in that equation, hopefully have a solution for ways for folk to post their ideas/intentions and have others join, brain is working on it. :) by fiverfeed (Fri 8th Apr 2022 4:29pm)
  • If anyone's seen this and is coming along i'll say to the bar/reception what's going on and to send you my way. Seems easiest, it's a hotel reception bar, must be confused looking folk kicking about all the time. So that, or i'll embarrass myself by saying i'm meeting folk and nobody shows. I'll take that risk, might meet other folk kicking about anyway. Gotta give these things a go, eh? Not coming out of lockdown/s and winter then staying in anyway. :) by fiverfeed (Fri 8th Apr 2022 4:28pm)
  • You crackers want to hear about the time I saw the Loch Ness monster? Oh, it must have been about 7, 8 years ago... Me and the little lady were on this boat, you see... All alone at night when all of a sudden, a huge creature, a giant crustacean from the Paleozoic era, comes out of the water! It stood above us looking down with its big red eyes... And I stood up and yelled "What do you want from us, monster?!", and he bent down and said "I need to borrow treen fiddy... TLDR Gimme tree fiddy by fiverfeed (Sat 9th Apr 2022 9:44am)
  • Hello! I posted in the steamie on thursday with instructions on a place to meet up on the friday night, nobody showed, though plenty upvoted, plus all the folk who commented here. That proves nothing other than it's very optimistic to think simply posting in the steamie as the rules suggest is going to get us anywhere. I'm glad I tried it just to kinda prove that. Aye, what you say about people not into the same things, that's what i'm trying to get at. I'm into ANYTHING really, but friends want to do things they want to do, not just what you want to do, and that's fine, i'll do some things with them, but also i'd like some sort of forum/platform to find the people in the same boat that want to do a specific thing then group them together, I think that's the magic formula. You good at coding/building apps by any chance? :) I suppose that's where my mind is wandering but I really hope to come up with a workable thing in reddit, can't be bothered with it turning into a big hassle/commitment of time on my part. Anyway, hello! by fiverfeed (Sat 9th Apr 2022 10:39pm)
  • [https://goo.gl/maps/31SRA3qUDXHHwYvs7](https://goo.gl/maps/31SRA3qUDXHHwYvs7) Google maps says about 8 miles round trip, didn't feel like much at all. :) by fiverfeed (Sat 9th Apr 2022 11:43pm)
  • You'd need ok tyres yeah, but not anything fancy I wouldn't say. It was around a marsh so it was definitely moist, but my bike is a budget hybrid and it was easy, though not without the odd wobble. And that was about 10 mins of the overall ride. by fiverfeed (Sun 10th Apr 2022 12:07am)
  • So first you get your baby legs, then they fall off, and you get your grown up legs, then THEY fall off too, and then you get cycling legs? :) Kind of like that this was just short and sweet, not really too bothered about going mile after mile after mile or spending money on gear. But useful info for those who wanna go that bit further. And not sharing roads with cars sounds good! by fiverfeed (Sun 10th Apr 2022 12:05am)
  • [https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17160](https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17160) Scroll past the bit about the covid isolation grant, that's a thing but the Scottish Welfare Fund is where you want to apply for a Crisis Grant. [https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=19426#:\~:text=A%20Rent%20Deposit%20Guarantee%20Service,through%20the%20private%20rented%20sector](https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=19426#:~:text=A%20Rent%20Deposit%20Guarantee%20Service,through%20the%20private%20rented%20sector). Should link to info about Glasgow's rent deposit scheme too, if that's an issue with you moving suddenly. Hope these are useful. All the best. by fiverfeed (Sun 10th Apr 2022 12:14am)
  • One of the group was on much more of a road bike. Could always skip going round Possil Marsh though if you were just taking the canal path to Lambhill Stables/beyond. And the weekly rides which will seemingly go lots of different routes, i'd imagine very rarely would it be anything marshy like today, but also it's Glasgow, so given general rainfall almost any route that isn't just on roads has potential to be manky. :) by fiverfeed (Sun 10th Apr 2022 12:18am)
  • Ha, hello Avi! Hopefully get to know each other better over the next few weeks, months. Was such a nice group of folk to go on a cycle with, and exactly the right level of intensity for my liking! See you next week I hope! by fiverfeed (Sun 10th Apr 2022 2:08pm)
  • There's a Nextbike station right by Civic House, just as you come through the underpass at Cowcaddens, Speirs Wharf docking station (though it's not actually on Speirs Wharf, more at the bottom of the path leading up to it). No guarantee there would be a bike there mind you, but can always use this or the app [https://www.nextbike.co.uk/en/glasgow/locations/](https://www.nextbike.co.uk/en/glasgow/locations/) The bit of yesterdays route that would have been trickiest was around the marsh but even then it would have been ok and it's not like pushing in parts wasn't an option, we were not going very fast/far. Regarding issues of money/low income then this is worth a look regarding nextbike/bike for good too. [https://www.bikeforgood.org.uk/shop/bikes-for-all/](https://www.bikeforgood.org.uk/shop/bikes-for-all/) Regarding low cost rental options that's not something I've come across outwith the above scheme, might be a way to pay one up tho, I found mine in a pawn shop, almost new, not even dodgy (had original receipt). Hope this helps! by fiverfeed (Sun 10th Apr 2022 2:07pm)
  • Stayed here last year, though I was in one of the ready made tents/yurts, the tent pitch spots looked great, and you can pitch in the adjoining woods, not necessarily next to others. [http://www.booking.com/Share-9A0uCcW](http://www.booking.com/Share-9A0uCcW) There's on site facilities, shops in "town", five minutes walk to the Carbeth huts which could be fun for a four year old I imagine, it's like a grotto village, and there's wee lochs n whatnot. Worth a look! by fiverfeed (Sun 10th Apr 2022 8:31pm)
  • Hello! Well it didn't work out, however, that was an experiment in spontaneity. Seems that r/glasgow is not the place for that. Been exploring the social wiki, getting a better look at things like [meetup.com](https://meetup.com) found a meetup this saturday at 11am at Moxy! And it's basically a non-alcoholic meetup which is a good start for me. [https://www.meetup.com/glasgow-booze-free-weekend-adventures-meetup-group/events/285053181/](https://www.meetup.com/glasgow-booze-free-weekend-adventures-meetup-group/events/285053181/) Still working on how it would work to connect people who want to do a one off event or activity rather than grouping around one interest or type of event, or the desire to make long term friends. Sometimes I just wanna have folk to hang out with for one particular event/activity, not make new long term pals. by fiverfeed (Mon 11th Apr 2022 7:43am)
  • Hi! Not sure where close to home is for you, but a possible spot would be the wee DIY skate park along Civic Street/down the stairs from Speirs Wharf. Seems to have become a popular wee spot too, and there's always folk there skating/spraying recently, Legal? No idea. by fiverfeed (Fri 15th Apr 2022 7:33pm)

  • The story behind that song is utterly bizarre. Here's wikipedia ... Mary Steenburgen's Brain 'Became Musical' After a 'Strange' Complication from a Routine Surgery. When Mary Steenburgen woke up from minor arm surgery in 2007, her brain was “only music,” an odd result that lead her to a new songwriting career. So the mum from Elf had a skelf or something and had an operation and THEN became a songwriter. And was nominated for an Oscar. Wish I had an operation go wrong like that, my songs are shite ... by fiverfeed (Sat 16th Apr 2022 8:49pm)

  • Can be worthwhile just keeping an eye out for local events that are free, as obvious as that sounds, but you have to put a bit of effort in given there's a zillion places to look online but not one in particular that will have everything. Tomorrow alone there's everything from free live music/dj's all day in Mono for record store day [https://www.monocafebar.com/events/record-store-day-22](https://www.monocafebar.com/events/record-store-day-22) to a goddarn' rodeo. [https://en-gb.facebook.com/events/garscube-estate/guvma-rodeo-2022/592534195273207/](https://en-gb.facebook.com/events/garscube-estate/guvma-rodeo-2022/592534195273207/) but I was searching about an hour or so across different sites to stumble upon both. I'm skint as all hell so constantly on the look out for these sorts of things, hard to get bored actually in Glasgow as long as you're not fixated on doing one thing in particular on any given day, there's always something for free going on. Also, for one of type things it's always worth a look on the voucher site places too, something might catch your eye. Seen some things recently for dance classes that I'd been considering with a pal. But anything from that to outdoor pursuits etc, might bring things down to your budget. One of the mods I think has also put together this [https://wiki.glasgow.social/](https://wiki.glasgow.social/) and it's worth a look for all kinds of ideas of things to do too. Hope this helps. by fiverfeed (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 11:19pm)

  • Would be very confusing if this was organised on the same day/same place. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Most\_Wuthering\_Heights\_Day\_Ever](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Most_Wuthering_Heights_Day_Ever) I for one welcome the confusion, and our new reddit/kate bush overlords. by fiverfeed (Sun 24th Apr 2022 7:55pm)
  • I just did a Bhangra class this week, might tick some boxes. Was absolutely brilliant, though I was and will probably always be terrible. Had a massive grin on my face the whole time, highly recommend. https://happeningnext.com/event/apv-bhangra-class-glasgow-face-to-face-18-30-eid4snvlef1fs1 by fiverfeed (Sun 1st May 2022 12:08am)
  • Me too and me either, but they'll show a couple of variations, for beginners and more advanced, to put into the routine, and honestly, nobody is judging what you're doing or if you're getting it right AT all, at least not that I noticed/was aware of. It was just a lot of fun. by fiverfeed (Sun 1st May 2022 10:52am)
  • Thanks. Honestly I know I could do better/more just bored of playing on my own, and been there done that with the open mic circuit and trying to get a "band" together. Would be way more into just hanging out making music with people for the fun of it, and right now my musical friends are less into that or just don't have the time. :( by fiverfeed (Mon 16th May 2022 10:28am)
  • Just trying to think outside the box/tent, what about charities that do outward bound type stuff? Surely they need tents for those that can't afford them, even those whove been through a programme and want to carry on? [https://venturescotland.org.uk/home/get-in-touch/](https://venturescotland.org.uk/home/get-in-touch/) for example, no harm in asking. Hope that's something you maybe hadn't thought of that might work out! :) by fiverfeed (Mon 16th May 2022 8:21pm)
  • Well, some people are listening but nobody saying they wanna join in, yet! But it's kinda nice to think someone might hear a song and go "meh, that wasn't the worst thing i've heard today" or something. So, call it a win. by fiverfeed (Mon 16th May 2022 10:03pm)
  • Aye we hit a dead end due to the building works but hopefully that'll all open up soon! Briefly considered going under a fence to snoop around the building site but just went back to the park for a snoop instead. Claypits is a good shout for anyone, maybe the best view of the city I've seen overall from the viewpoint. by fiverfeed (Fri 20th May 2022 10:19pm)
  • Thanks for that! I actually hadn't heard of "The Boys" will also need to check that out. I could really believe how cool the place would have been before smack became the thing, hopefully it's on the way back (being cool, not the smack), just did some more snooping around Pinkston on my way back home today (I'm in Springburn) and some more of that's been opened up now, once the new builds are finshed it's gonna be a cool wee area with the watersports etc hopefully that can be maintained. :) by fiverfeed (Sat 21st May 2022 4:30pm)
  • Great! I'm thinking about getting this going by June, potentially early-ish on a Sunday (ie 10/11 something like that, before the world gets going just about). Prowling is a great word, that's it, nothing to do with cycling mad long distances or anything but if there's somewhere worth going/seeing or just an area that could have potential weird/wonderful things then using bikes to get there. :) I'll drop some details in the thread once I'm a bit better organised. I've been in Springburn a year or so now and aye, the canal path has been great for getting around for me too. by fiverfeed (Sat 21st May 2022 7:41pm)
  • Ha, I mean it is r/glasgow, small world probably doesn't apply! I think you might also have confused not on facebook any more with blocking, it's weird that it would look like that from someone elses side. I may well make the next CM, and no matter what, hitting the North should definitely be on the list, some weird and wonderful routes to take for sure! by fiverfeed (Mon 23rd May 2022 7:39am)
  • Wouldn't know where to start, not on facebook and the like any more. CAB? by fiverfeed (Mon 23rd May 2022 10:57am)
  • I was away for about 7 years total coming back in 2020, cycle around the city quite a lot and there seems to be plenty of building, investment, areas that have improved beyond recognition. Definitely not in the negative camp. Some things that I really like are : \- Claypits nature reserve and other things happening in and around the canal, once Sighthill "opens" back up again there's a whole new leisure/watersport/greenspace area around Pinkston/Port Dundas that should be great I think and fairly accesible from various points in the city, was snooping around it on my bike the other day and imgagining it busy on a summers day, could be something great for my end of the city. \- Cycle lanes/bike infrastructure : absolutely pros and cons and parts of it that just make no sense (ie bike lane ends and you're now on the wrong side of the road, genius!). However, it's better than what there was or more accurately, wasn't! The hire bike scheme works great for me too if I'm just breaking up a journey by foot or public transport. \- Community gardens etc there's been an explosion in projects/funding and that would seem to genuinely be partly down to some positive legislation [https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/foodgrowing](https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/foodgrowing) and organised/direct community action. Still room for so much more and something that pretty much anyone can get involved in locally if they look for it/make it happen! Hope that helps! :) by fiverfeed (Mon 23rd May 2022 4:57pm)
  • Often in the past it's been used as a gig venue, whether that's been the case post-covid I'm not sure, there was a hip hop gig there for the "Govan Festival" recently tho. Not sure if external promoter events always show up on their listings, or if you'd need to check on Tickets Scotland etc They do have "specials" on their calendar mind you. [http://glasgowsgrandoleopry.co.uk/wp/index.php/calendar/](http://glasgowsgrandoleopry.co.uk/wp/index.php/calendar/) There are also country/Americana specific promoters doing events in other venues too, and maybe the Opry. • A couple off the beaten track, The Icebox 2, St Lukes Business Centre, Glasgow G5 0TS is a gig venue and charity/vintage shop. I'd post a link but it's all their social media no actual website I could see. The Hospice Shop on George Street near George Square always has brilliant window displays and had a cracking sale last time I was in. So many more but these might be wildcard suggestions at least! by fiverfeed (Thu 26th May 2022 8:41pm)
  • Music Broth do blocks of free group lessons, could be a good place to start as a complete beginner before spending on blocks of lessons one to one? [https://www.facebook.com/MusicBrothGlasgow](https://www.facebook.com/MusicBrothGlasgow) Seems they might have just started some but could message to find out or getting on a waiting list for the next lot! • No idea, was chatting to the guy running the overall venue/space and he seemed genuine about wanting to offer as many free activities as he could propped up by the pay in stuff/bar takings. At the same time if they put it on and one person comes then they might not, so hopefully some folk see this and can get along! :) by fiverfeed (Tue 31st May 2022 9:29pm)
  • Aye, anything that's not gonna be the path of least resistance probably won't work for me, but thanks! The guy doing the lesson pointed me in the right direction for complete set ups for beginners that sounded in my price range. Cheers tho! by fiverfeed (Tue 31st May 2022 11:01pm)
  • Last Sunday I was at the Riverside Museum and afterwards there were 5/6 folk skating about, think they had a couple of ramps to drag out, but honestly, it's a nice big flat area and seemed a nice mixed abilities bunch, think they had a couple of ramps to pop down too but I'd bet they'll be welcoming. I had a lesson last week in Queen's Park and thinking to get a board, let me know what you end up doing as I'll be in exactly the same situation. by fiverfeed (Sun 5th Jun 2022 10:24pm)

Definitely positive that it will have funding and a new lease of life, as opposed to being left to rot. :) Could end up with a similar vibe to a place I lived near in Berlin, probably with the same hipster inflated prices but watcha gonna do. https://markthalleneun.de/anbieter/1/obst-und-gemuese/ by fiverfeed (Sat 11th Jun 2022 11:53am)

  • I have no expertise in this whatsoever, but it did remind me of looking into what permissions might be needed to utilise unused space in the city. There is/was a Stalled Spaces process, however looking on GCC website today the info is out of date (quel surprise) but using the info there as a guide, if you want permission to use a "vacant space" you'd need to be part of a "constituted group". [https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17950](https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17950) However, I'd also say whether there will be objections/intervention will depend on where you are and likely who's doing the complaining. I was up at my nearest park (Cowlairs) recently and it seems to be a fully functioning demolition derby arena with burnt out cars for full on Mad Max ambience and a billion old tyres. So, aye, there's that. by fiverfeed (Mon 20th Jun 2022 3:56pm)
  • I just started playing "social" tennis at Kelvingrove. Absolutely beginner friendly and you don't need to show up with anything other than the clothes you think you'd feel comfortable in. You can get changed in the pavilion, they give you a racket too, and the coach brings a big bag a' balls, and everyone is just there to play and hang about/chat, though you play a LOT! It's a fun 2 hour runaround for me! The website is a little out of date, as there's no Thursday session at the moment, so Tuesdays 6 to 8 and Sundays 2 to 4, except this Sunday cos Mela is on. [https://glasgowlife.sportsuite.co.uk/directory/kelvingrove-community-tennis-club](https://glasgowlife.sportsuite.co.uk/directory/kelvingrove-community-tennis-club) I'm aiming to go every Tuesday if you want to "buddy" up, can send me a DM, I can at least explain exactly what happens/to expect here or in a DM if you fancy it but get new situation anxiety, which I definitely do! It's really great because you get mixed around so you're playing varying degrees of ability however nobody has been much better than advanced beginner that I've played with/against so far. Hope that helps and DM me if you'd like to know more. I may also check out the Dodgeball at the Kelvin Hall tomorrow, that's at 8pm too. But I've never been, just having thought about it for weeks/months, so I can't recommend just yet. The organiser posts on here about it regularly! by fiverfeed (Wed 22nd Jun 2022 3:27pm)
  • Yup, you just show up! Didn't mention it's £3 cash tho, sorry! But info is in the link too. :) by fiverfeed (Wed 22nd Jun 2022 4:43pm)

June at 20:00 Meeting at 19:55 Kelvin Hall Open Collections, Argyle Street, Glasgow Dodgeball at 8pm every Thursday, at Kelvinhall (Glasgow Club) G3 8AW. This is an adult session (16+) and will be aimed at those who are new to dodgeball or haven’t played in a while. The focus will be on having fun and the environment will be a relaxed one. All equipment will be provided and all you will need is your regular gym clothes. COVID-19 note: Masks are to be worn inside the main building but can be removed once in the sports hall. What: Dodgeball When: 8pm - 9pm on Thursday 18/11/21 Where: Glasgow Club Kelvinhall (G3 8AW) \- On-site Parking Available \- Nearest Subway is Kelvinhall Station \- Nearest Train Station is Partick \- The 77 bus and the 3 bus run regularly from the city centre by fiverfeed (Wed 22nd Jun 2022 4:49pm)
  • I'd check on the map if where you've been offered falls inside "Dennistoun", actually very little of what's directly adjacent to Alexandra Park does, directly opposite/below is all Haghill really. [https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=55.8667&mlon=-4.2081#map=15/55.8639/-4.2097](https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=55.8667&mlon=-4.2081#map=15/55.8639/-4.2097) I say this because there was someone on here before who'd been offered a flat in Dennistoun and it was actually Haghill. I've lived in Haghill and had no bother but most parts of Dennistoun would definitely be preferable, and I'd be dubious about a landlord that would claim their flat is in an area that it isn't, so have a look at where you'd actually be in the first instance. After that, Dennistoun itself has gentrified a fair bit since I lived there previously, however it still has it's moments (when I lived there 20 years ago my g/f at the time remarked that folks main method of transport seemed to be "running and shouting"), and gets it share of Orange Walk and Parkhead matchday rowdiness. For my money though Alexandra Park is one of the prettiest in Glasgow, and is often serene on even the sunniest days. Not too far from Hogganfield Loch either which is lovely too. Transport links are good, lots of shops on Alexandra Parade and Duke Street, big ones at the Forge (though Tesco just did the bolt), there were always decent pubs but a few more and defo a hipster vibe too, though a few of the possibly too many new coffee shops are now calling it a day. Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide! by fiverfeed (Tue 28th Jun 2022 11:48am)
  • Barring some disaster (I always assume there will be one) I'll be getting the keys to a flat on Duke Street around 6pm ish and then free to stroll up from my new abode, short stroll (well, cycle probably)! Seems like a good way to celebrate (though I should probably really then be dealing with all the moving stuff but it's on the way back to what will then be the "old" flat so might as well!). See ya on Thursday. :) by fiverfeed (Tue 28th Jun 2022 10:03pm)
  • Go to a grocers and pick out a nice chilli pepper to commemorate your anniversary/the gig. • A fair few negative comments along the way here, which is fine and to be expected, not afraid of mixing the good with the bad and even the ugly. However, will not be shy in talking up Glasgow for all that's great about it too. Case in point, while i was living in Berlin myself, my Austrian girlfriend and 2 friends from Glasgow were in a bar talking about how we don't like to hear that people have visited Edinburgh but not Glasgow, often because they've heard of some kind of "bad/rough" reputation that we felt was long gone/nomeancity razor gang shite chat. My g/f interrupted to say "yes, but you DID get your throat cut", which I had to admit was true. One pal lifts up his shirt below his ribs. "Aye, I've been stabbed too". Our other wee pal who's a 5ft nothing girl joins in. "Aye, me a'naw". And yet, I still want to be a Glasgow tour guide! So aye, place is mental, but you only live once and a what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and Glasgow will seemingly attempt to kill you at least once. Keep the facts coming please! by fiverfeed (Mon 11th Jul 2022 3:17pm)

  • Just over a year sober and honestly been having the time of my life, while being physically and mentally fitter for it. Cheers to your sobriety! Here's some things that have helped me along the way ... [Meetup.com](https://Meetup.com) isn't actually that great but there's the odd thing including a Glasgow booze free meetup that could be a good start. I've done so many things i've found on [eventbrite.com](https://eventbrite.com) from adult skate lessons to a bhangra class to life drawing. Started playing social tennis at Kelvingrove, mostly Tuesdays 6 - 8 but also Sundays 2 - 4 if that suits better, you get to play loads but as there's more people than space you can also get a bit of chat/meet new folk. Really, if you put some effort into it it's not hard to find things to do in Glasgow any day/night of the week that don't involve drinking or where drinking is optional/an afterthought. I have the energy to look at lots of things that are coming up and plan ahead. And so much of it is free/affordable/pay what you can too. You save so much money not drinking. Finally, and probably the best sugggestion, volunteering. There's probably something you can volunteer in for almost any cause/interest you could imagine. As I came back to Glasgow having been on an organic farm for 6 months I got involved with food based charities and events - North Glasgow Community Food Initiative, Glasgow Community Food Network, Glasgow Seed Library, Glasgow Tool Library (not really interested in tools so that tailed off). Also joined the list for an allotment and lo and behold, a year on, I just got the keys, which is another really healthy non drinking activity that will actually take up lots of time but be massively rewarding, and I'm already in a network of organisations that'll be really useful for me making a good go of it. Hope this is food for thought! by fiverfeed (Sun 17th Jul 2022 9:28pm)

  • Some of my go to's for the weird and wonderful are : [www.meetup.com](https://www.meetup.com) \- Only one recently was a booze free meetup actually but totally depends what you're looking for. [https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/](https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/) \- I've had free adult skateboard lessons, been to a bhangra class, was reminded of the annual Glasgow Vets Association Rodeo, was just at an art exhbition in the Glue Factory. All via this! [https://www.whatsonglasgow.co.uk/](https://www.whatsonglasgow.co.uk/) \- General ticketed/pay in events mostly. [https://allevents.in/](https://allevents.in/) \- Don't know if events are submitted or it kinda scrapes/aggregates sites but it can have the odd thing i've not picked up on. Also, depending where you live, community pages can be a good shout. I'm not on any social media now so there's probably better ways on Instagram for example, but worth a snoop on the pages regardless. I just moved to Dennistoun so would keep an eye on [https://dennistoun.co.uk/](https://dennistoun.co.uk/) where if I'd been free i'd have known about an event in Ally Park recently! Hope that's a start! Belated welcome to Glasgow! :) by fiverfeed (Wed 27th Jul 2022 7:47pm)

  • Had to solve this conundrum myself over the weekend, found this ... [https://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/category/Dance---Night-Club/Songs-Ya-Bass-164190147060745/](https://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/category/Dance---Night-Club/Songs-Ya-Bass-164190147060745/) 7pm til 11pm, ALL tunes are by request in advance so a very mixed bag of retro music but a fair amount of disco/soul/new wave/punk/reggae/80's, not a young 'un in site, but runs very irregularly, next one is November. Could have stayed on for the club after but it was like the queue for the tuck shop at 11pm, decided to move on. After that we went on to Divine at CCA, shite venue for a "club" night, they just moved some tables and chairs in the cafe bar to make a dancefloor. No young uns either but just wasn't the right atmosphere, left after 45 minutes. Must be loads more out there but SYB was the best thing I've been to in ages. Highly recommend the next time it comes around. by fiverfeed (Mon 1st Aug 2022 6:02pm)
  • Could write a ridiculously long reply here as I got sober last year and have been going through the same rigmarole. So i'll just say one of the things that has stuck in my case is social tennis at kelvingrove. Not saying I've made a bunch of new pals that I see outside of that, but it's good fun, you get mixed into different doubles groups constantly. I'd say there's definitely women around your age there weekly too, I'm probably one of the oldest regulars and I'm "only" 41 so might be more of an opporunity to make actual pals if you're younger. If you're not into tennis tho it's worth looking for activities that get you mixing with people rather than something where you have to approach people. Partnered dance classes? Voluntary work? Other classes (knitting!?). Ok now it is a long post. Long story short it's hard to make friends at any age really especially if you've made a massive lifestyle change like getting sober, know plenty of folk who have hung around with the same people forever and just moan about them so be glad you can build your tribe from scratch (as hard as it can be!). Good luck! by fiverfeed (Tue 2nd Aug 2022 10:13pm)
  • Thankyou! I have plans afoot for organising my own sober social events so will let you know about that (and probably everyone else on r/glasgow) nearer the time! • Hi! If you contact/register with business gateway there's a £250 grant you can apply for, it's pretty basic/simple to do so, once registered someone will call you and go through some basic business planning with you, then there's some kind of regular meetings where they approve these. I followed this [https://www.bgateway.com/planning-to-start](https://www.bgateway.com/planning-to-start) and then the business advisor contacted me. Good luck! by fiverfeed (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 7:39pm)

[https://www.rcs.ac.uk/box-office/](https://www.rcs.ac.uk/box-office/) I'm always suggesting Eventbrite as the solution to everything on here but you're more likely to find small shows in weird venues on there too. Got some great things lined up for my pal visiting Glasgow now including : 1) A field with no cows in it. 2) An empty space in a gallery where a famous painting once hung. 3) A cityscape view that would require some breaking and entering to actually see. 4) Digging a hole under a fence. 5) Shawarma King - the thinking man's Best Kebab. Really tho thanks y'all for replying, some geuinely good ideas in there, but it wouldn't be r/glasgow without a bit of friendly cuntiness. Cheers! by fiverfeed (Sun 7th Aug 2022 10:54pm)
  • Ha, honestly not, though my friends I've told about it today have all heard of it and have been "meaning to go" so I can see why you'd think that, must have social media tentacles everywhere. by fiverfeed (Sun 14th Aug 2022 12:33am)
  • Yes! Nice to hear a positive reply to a positive post. Cheers! I think the folk that are on here moaning/calling me a cunt don't actually "live" in Glasgow at all, it's just where they're from, there's a difference. Try and go out and enjoy it sometime. by fiverfeed (Sun 14th Aug 2022 12:39am)
  • Yup, heard them shout "Viagra" today for the first time. Insert gag about "stiff competition" or suchlike at your leisure. by fiverfeed (Sun 14th Aug 2022 12:36am)
  • It's really, really, really not at all. Lots of the same folk that have been there for years, great chat and just having a belter of a day in the sun and telling me how good it is there's new people coming in and giving it a new life. Ironically enough, hunners of folk in this video from the 90's look like todays hipsters. Make of that what you will. https://youtu.be/3rshOMpoHFw by fiverfeed (Sun 14th Aug 2022 12:44am)
  • La Vita at George Square was one I always recommended to folk when I worked in a merchant city bar and our kitchen closed at 8, quick look on their website and you can book up until 10.30pm on there so would seem they still run later than most. by fiverfeed (Wed 24th Aug 2022 7:57am)
  • if you quailfy for an ITA there was a beginners course on there when I was looking the other day https://www.myworldofwork.co.uk/learn-and-train/course/search by fiverfeed (Wed 24th Aug 2022 1:59pm)
  • You've made me curious now. Defo some online course, I know that's not what you were asking but also, could be further links/options for ongoing learning. https://www.british-sign.co.uk/ by fiverfeed (Wed 24th Aug 2022 3:02pm)
  • This is a monthly one. Went in July and it was pretty busy, definitely ran on longer than advertised too. I was able to do 2 songs, most folk did if I remember correctly. Had house guitar and mics/pa/monitors, not sure if you could bring other instruments but might be a contact on the page. https://www.drygate.com/events/upcoming-events/drygate-open-mic-night by fiverfeed (Wed 24th Aug 2022 3:22pm)
  • Could also have been Shout Bamalama. Was in asking about Blackfriars basement recently seeing as it only reopened, seemed they haven't really prioritised getting club nights going (from what the person doing the bookings was saying) so if you can't find one then I'd say start one. Good luck! by fiverfeed (Mon 29th Aug 2022 8:29pm)
  • Yup, was genuinely sat waiting for the tickets to go live like it was the hot ticket concert or something, but it's one of those things in years gone by (the non sober ones) I either realised it was on as it was happening or after the fact. Have a cracking Sunday of the Barras, Necropolis and Art Deco tours back to back. Genuinely can't wait! :) Other things actually take advantage of "doors" being "open" but I'd have to go check what those ones were, just remember that 3 in a row as it's so handy too starting from my flat. by fiverfeed (Thu 1st Sep 2022 9:46pm)
  • If you want to see a large chunk of the city centre, and it's possibly going to be decent weather you could give this a go. [https://www.citycentremuraltrail.co.uk/](https://www.citycentremuraltrail.co.uk/) You'll get a good look around and probably see places/parts that you wouldn't have any reason to visit otherwise. And see some murals. :) by fiverfeed (Mon 5th Sep 2022 8:48am)
  • Got a massive soft spot for Woodlands Community Garden, have spent a lot of time there and it's just a magical wee oasis five minutes from city centre, often still and quiet even when town is busy, or if there's folk about you'll get some interesting chat. Also, love the area around the canal from claypits right round to pinkston watersports, and things around like Civic House and the DIY Skate Park and the Glue Factory and Scottish Opera doing events. It's got a lot going on. The aboreum at the Botanics is a lovely place to chill on a sunny day. Also fallen for the tennis/bowling green at Kelvingrove, you can play for free with the uni/kelvingrove as your backdrop, the sounds of the summer in the park for a soundtrack. Took a pal who was visiting and he couldn't believe it's free to do that in those surroundings and thought we live in some kind of socialist paradise. Aye, hunners really! by fiverfeed (Wed 7th Sep 2022 11:48pm)
  • Might be something in this that suits your interests and you might meet people. I've booked a video games night on Thursday for example, but there's plenty of interesting sounding events overall. https://www.gla.ac.uk/research/arc/arcadia/ by fiverfeed (Sun 11th Sep 2022 1:34pm)
  • This led to me thinking it could be a scene from a Scottish version of the Karate Kid. To borrow a line from So I Married an Axe Murderer - "You know, Scotland has its own martial arts. Yeah, it's called Fuck You. It's mostly just head butting and then kicking people when they're on the ground." I think this could work ... by fiverfeed (Sun 11th Sep 2022 1:48pm)
  • If paycheck refers to a job, depending on the employer it can be worth seeing if they have any sort of support in place. I say this because I've had exactly this kind of support from my current employer in a crisis. Even if it's just a sub to help tide you over while you look for other support. Also, maybe you'd qualify for a crisis grant via the Scottish Welfare Fund. [https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17160](https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17160) If you're on low income, as someone already mentioned welfare rights, you may actually qualify for Universal Credit, it's not just an "out of work" benefit. If you did you may then qualify for a new claims advance. Hope these help. by fiverfeed (Mon 12th Sep 2022 3:11pm)
  • This one just for trains and subway but just thought I'd add it to the list, as I think it's barely known! Defo useful if you were just having a day out in Glasgow. https://www.spt.co.uk/tickets/day-tickets/roundabout/ by fiverfeed (Tue 13th Sep 2022 8:55am)
  • Good day to do the mural trail? https://www.citycentremuraltrail.co.uk/ by fiverfeed (Sun 18th Sep 2022 10:27pm)
  • Ha, the irony being we didn't go "in" any buildings, the things we booked were walking tours, so more looking at buildings and hearing a little about their history. This is why i'm posting tbh, the tours were limited time only, whereas if someone got access to an interesting building I can always find out how to access that any other time! by fiverfeed (Mon 19th Sep 2022 8:11am)
  • Thanks, exactly the kind of thing I wanted to hear/know! I actually had to cancel my Gurdwara tickets on the Saturday due to family commitments, sounds like one for the future for sure. I suppose with some of the doors open events it's more of an exposure opportunity for some places that are actually open/accessible year round anyway, just always on the look out for things to see and do (and ideally free). by fiverfeed (Mon 19th Sep 2022 10:09am)
  • Maybe next year we do the fringe event "doors not open", where we just do some breaking and entering. There were definitely some buildings on the Art Deco tour I'd have loved to have seen inside, even if they were likely just full of pigeon shit and dead hobos. by fiverfeed (Mon 19th Sep 2022 10:29am)
  • Probably worth checking directly with whatever venue you think you might wanna head along to just in case, but this is the most comprehensive list I'm aware of. • Not sure if there would be specifically a "couples" baking class (mutual master baking?) but I see baking related events from time to time on Eventbrite. [https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/d/united-kingdom--glasgow/baking-class/](https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/d/united-kingdom--glasgow/baking-class/) Hope that helps? by fiverfeed (Wed 21st Sep 2022 8:29am)

  • I'd say chase them up, I think the default setting is to reject it (pick a reason, hope you take it and move on). Mine was initialy rejected because I didn't submit the application within the timeframe. Except I did, and it was as simple as showing a screenshot of the confirmation email from the council within the timeframe. They said a different decsion maker would look at it, they agreed I was right and I got it. So it's advisable to persevere down whatever routes of dispute are open to you. Good luck! by fiverfeed (Sat 1st Oct 2022 2:42pm)
  • I bought a chromebook from Cash Converters on Renfield Street and it had a 6 months warranty, not too bad really as it was about £60. Still doing the job I needed it for a year later. Not sure then of the exact terms but defo sure if it simply didn't work or had a fault they weren't aware of you could take it back. Good luck! by fiverfeed (Sat 8th Oct 2022 12:32pm)
  • [https://www.yaketyyak-languagecafe.co.uk/glasgow](https://www.yaketyyak-languagecafe.co.uk/glasgow) [https://www.meetup.com/glasgow-west-end-english-spanish-intercambio/events/288011070/](https://www.meetup.com/glasgow-west-end-english-spanish-intercambio/events/288011070/) Got the first by typing "language cafe glasgow" into google as I wasn't really sure what you meant by that, however it seems that's a thing, and realise I've seen similar meetups on meetup, probably more than just the spanish one that I'd saved the link for previously. Good luck. by fiverfeed (Sat 8th Oct 2022 6:16pm)
  • >Wife Guys of Reddit I love how any list of unknown/unsigned/new bands could just be totally made up. This checks out tho. Still fun to read in the voice of Brian Butterfield tho. :) by fiverfeed (Thu 13th Oct 2022 1:44pm)
  • Yass! I'm 99% certain I saw one of their first gigs, on a Friday night in Pivo Pivo around 2010 maybe, playing free to a post work Waterloo Street crowd waiting on the train, who mostly couldn't care less. They played a Daft Punk medley and I fell in love. Good times. Galactic Radio is a wonderful album, glad you reminded me. :) by fiverfeed (Thu 13th Oct 2022 5:17pm)
