  • I don't think a few black and white photos of dumped washing machines sum up the real challenges this great city faces. Sorry, but this is lazy, virtue signalling shite. If you want to make a real difference, get out in to the community and do so. Don't post a picture of a polly bag in Paisley Road and pretend you're a social warrior. by ixeostorax (Sat 21st Aug 2021 11:38pm)
  • Agree. I grew up in Dumbarton. It's has become a very affordable commuter town. Dumbarton to Glasgow on the train is only 20 minutes. It has some social issues, however its surrounded by lovely hills, is only 20 minutes from Loch Lomond, and has always felt safe to me. Just don't expect any culture. by ixeostorax (Mon 23rd Aug 2021 9:10pm)
  • I found then to be pretty shit. We're with EE now. £29 per month and the internet speeds are about 70Mbps and nice and consistent. by ixeostorax (Wed 1st Sep 2021 5:27pm)
  • You could possibly get a crisis grant via your local council? Sorry to hear you're in that situation. Our benefits support system is a shambles. by ixeostorax (Mon 20th Sep 2021 11:23am)
  • Forget Nashville. Take a road trip tae Saltcoats mate. by ixeostorax (Thu 23rd Sep 2021 9:49pm)
  • BLOC. Absolutely, fucking amazing. by ixeostorax (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 8:31pm)
  • You goin on the pull big man? by ixeostorax (Sun 3rd Oct 2021 11:01am)
  • Not First Bus for me, but Scotrail, or whatever the fuck they're called now. Bought a bike 15 years ago and commuted 30 miles a day. Best decision I ever made. Fuck those clowns. by ixeostorax (Mon 4th Oct 2021 9:39pm)
  • Have recently sold and bought a new place. As a rough guide, if its offers over 95k, it'll be valued at around 100k, and you'll probably pay at least 10% over that. I know a few folk who have sold flats in desirable places like Dennistoun or Finnestoun and made 20% over the value (not asking) price. by ixeostorax (Wed 6th Oct 2021 7:27am)
  • The Village. Its very quiet, although dear. They have family hours at the weekend, and although there are obviously other kids there at that time, it still tends to be very low key compared to big public pools. by ixeostorax (Sun 10th Oct 2021 12:27am)
  • Not strange at all. I'm a similar age and was single for a good few years. Loved going to the cinema on my own. Even had a wee cheeky beer if it was the GFT or Grosvenor. Also went for meals or a burger and a pint on my own. That wasn't as enjoyable and I did end up feeling a wee bit lonely. That's not to say it won't work for you though. With all that said, I did try online dating in my early 40s. I was absolutely shiting it as its difficult to have the guts at that age, however I met a fantastic woman and we now have a wee baby. Not saying that's what you would want, but don't rule it out completely just cos it's absolutely fucking terrifying! by ixeostorax (Mon 11th Oct 2021 5:05pm)
  • To my embarrassment, this made me laugh my fucking head off. Well done. by ixeostorax (Mon 11th Oct 2021 8:24pm)
  • Absolutely. Arguably not student prices, but also reasonable for a very, very nice place. by ixeostorax (Mon 11th Oct 2021 10:19pm)
  • Cheers. I've got a gravel bike with treads, and high beam lights, so not worried on that front. Genuinely just wondering if there's a serious ned-threat. by ixeostorax (Tue 12th Oct 2021 9:36pm)
  • Cheers. Think I'll give it a miss. by ixeostorax (Tue 12th Oct 2021 11:04pm)
  • Always looking to avoid the roads, even when they're quiet. Pot holes and endless fuckwits make them a major risk. Appreciate that there's a tipping pint though; and a dark, isolated path might be it. by ixeostorax (Tue 12th Oct 2021 11:06pm)
  • Might be more of a monthly thing for me, but I'd also be interested. Replying to the folk above. Cannae use Reddit. by ixeostorax (Thu 14th Oct 2021 10:23pm)
  • Monzo is the best I've tried. TSB are an absolute fucking disaster. by ixeostorax (Sun 17th Oct 2021 5:24pm)
  • This would be a perfect example. by ixeostorax (Sun 24th Oct 2021 9:38pm)
  • Generally a terrible experience. Cycle lanes are few and far between, and the ones that do exist are half-arsed. There are big fuck-off potholes absolutely everywhere, and whilst some drivers are considerate, tons aren't. I used to commute 25 miles to work and back from Dumbarton via a national cycle route. That was generally class. As for cycling Glasgow City, nah, don't risk it. by ixeostorax (Fri 29th Oct 2021 8:01am)
  • Moving around the West End is a fucking nightmare. Streets closed everywhere, police herding locals and visitors in to a completely dark Kelvingrove Park to get around the closures. Absolute fucking embarrassment. by ixeostorax (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:09pm)
  • Moving around the West End is a fucking nightmare. Streets closed everywhere, police herding locals and visitors in to a completely dark Kelvingrove Park to get around the closures. Absolute fucking embarrassment. by ixeostorax (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:08pm)
  • BRGR is nice, however BLOC is absolutely top class. by ixeostorax (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:20pm)
  • Class photo. Especially for a phone. Well done. by ixeostorax (Thu 4th Nov 2021 10:23pm)
  • What the fuck do people expect to happen when daft, bored wee dicks can buy fireworks so easily. Ban the fucking things and give us all peace. by ixeostorax (Sat 6th Nov 2021 5:34pm)
  • Yip. However expect to pay too much, have cancelled trains, late trains, wee neds rampaging with no masks, and overall, just a really, really shite time. Scotrail are a fucking calamity. by ixeostorax (Sat 13th Nov 2021 8:35pm)
  • Can recommend a phenomenal therapist. The experience changed my life. It was private and unfortunately expensive. Around £90 per session, which I appreciate is a lot. Feel free to direct message me and I can provide more detail. Regardless, good luck in feeling better. by ixeostorax (Sun 14th Nov 2021 9:57pm)
  • They won't go through with it. Brother in law is a solicitor and has given me that advice a few times. They always go away. Appreciate getting the escalating letters is stressful though. by ixeostorax (Tue 16th Nov 2021 6:09pm)
  • Absolutely do the hillwalking thing. Nothing will sort your head out like loads of space and fresh air. The Kilpatrick Hills are close by (20 minutes train from Glasgow) and have endless trails with fantastic views, wee lochs and forrest paths. by ixeostorax (Sun 21st Nov 2021 9:54am)
  • Can I ask what the trade is, how long it took you to train (and how), and how long after that until you had an established business? by ixeostorax (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 4:57pm)
  • Made me fucking howl with this one pal. by ixeostorax (Mon 29th Nov 2021 5:37pm)
  • Please don't pin your hopes on Scotrail. They're an absolute abomination. Trains are constantly late and cancelled, and the prices are exorbitant. by ixeostorax (Mon 6th Dec 2021 11:28am)
  • If you're reliant on them for work, and travel at peak times, you're gonna pay almost double that for a Balloch return, and I can promise you, the delays are constant. by ixeostorax (Mon 6th Dec 2021 8:44pm)
  • Your patters a 1 ya fuckin doughball. by ixeostorax (Tue 14th Dec 2021 7:18pm)
  • Fantastic pal. Thanks for posting this! by ixeostorax (Thu 16th Dec 2021 11:27pm)
  • Agree that its interesting, I like guy walking us through it all as well. It would have been a great 15 minute piece. The pacing is just a wee bit off. That said, I'll watch more of his stuff. by ixeostorax (Fri 17th Dec 2021 8:51pm)
  • This makes me want to leave the fucking planet. Unbelievably depressing. by ixeostorax (Sun 19th Dec 2021 3:34pm)
  • As a man with a tendency to be hit short notice, I'd pay you for this! by ixeostorax (Tue 21st Dec 2021 12:57pm)
  • Yip. Shite with covid around. Shite without covid around. Shite with leaves. Shite with hot weather. Shite with cold weather. Shite with windy weather. Really shite with snowy weather. Absolutely fucking brilliant at bumping their prices up. by ixeostorax (Tue 21st Dec 2021 6:17pm)
  • Quoting Google reviews makes you sound like a fuckwit pal. by ixeostorax (Sat 1st Jan 2022 9:11pm)
  • I've found it varies massively. If I'm on the move, the 5G signal is so inconsistent that it's unusable. by ixeostorax (Mon 3rd Jan 2022 12:38pm)
  • I have lived in Dumbarton for most of my life and recently sold a cracking top floor, two bed tenement flat there for 101k - in a very safe and quiet area. Like every town, it has some rough parts, however it's a generally lovely wee place. Pros are that it's cheap, safe and picturesque, with great transport links to Glasgow. The cons are that it has an very depressing town centre, and very little culture - no cinema, book shops etc. by ixeostorax (Tue 4th Jan 2022 1:12pm)
  • Bearsden and Milngavie are very pricey, however if you can afford it, they're very safe, extremely family friendly areas with great schools and plenty of amenities. by ixeostorax (Thu 6th Jan 2022 8:39am)
  • Reach out to your GP as soon as possible. At the very least, it's a step forward. Staying where you are isn't going to help. I have experienced severe anxiety in the past, and therapy was the answer, however it took that first brave step to start getting better. Please contact them today if you can, and trust that you can absolutely move beyond this. When we feel anxious or depressed, it can be impossible to imagine ourselves feeling any other way, however I absolutely promise that it can be done. Good luck. by ixeostorax (Thu 6th Jan 2022 2:13pm)
  • Don't spend money on having it repaired until you look in to a replacement. Their gear looks class, however I've found the quality to be shite. Hopefully they replace it and the new one lasts. 👍 by ixeostorax (Thu 6th Jan 2022 3:22pm)
  • Nah. You're remembering correctly. by ixeostorax (Thu 6th Jan 2022 4:15pm)

  • They do. Add on some cajun fries and a pint of Gamma Ray, and you're in heaven! by ixeostorax (Sun 9th Jan 2022 9:54pm)
  • Ignore it. It'll Absolutely go away - although the letters will escalate first. by ixeostorax (Tue 11th Jan 2022 9:05pm)
  • You've made my day pal. What was the character limit? by ixeostorax (Wed 12th Jan 2022 1:00pm)
  • Ach, I was hoping for something more like 20. Need to get inventive! by ixeostorax (Wed 12th Jan 2022 4:14pm)
  • Also used EE while I stayed in Thornwood. Pretty decent. by ixeostorax (Thu 13th Jan 2022 5:46pm)
  • I'm really sorry that happened to you. I've cycled that route hundreds of times on my daily commute, and it's always been a hot spot for the young team drinking. Also always an absolute ton of broken glass along that stretch. I just avoid it now and cycle on the road there. Sadly, something as shitty as that can happen anywhere to you, but this is definitely a dodgy part of an otherwise quiet cycle route. by ixeostorax (Sun 16th Jan 2022 7:36am)
  • As a cyclist, this drives fucking insane. Endless cyclist go through red lights. See it constantly. Hope you're wee one is okay. If you get the cyclist details, I'd 100% report them. by ixeostorax (Sun 16th Jan 2022 10:08am)
  • Just trying to be nice to a person who had a shite experience. Seems like you've got your own stuff going on pal. I'll leave you to it. by ixeostorax (Sun 16th Jan 2022 7:21pm)
  • Can you qualify the statement 'nobody on either side is actually upset by it'? by ixeostorax (Wed 19th Jan 2022 6:42pm)
  • Interesting response, given that your statement that noone is offended by it is unqualified socia media shite. Keep on firing out those lazy generalisations professor. by ixeostorax (Wed 19th Jan 2022 6:58pm)
  • One of my favourite meals. Absolutely loved the whole experience. by ixeostorax (Sun 23rd Jan 2022 3:32pm)
  • Joe Kerr had me absolutely howling. by ixeostorax (Tue 25th Jan 2022 10:28pm)
  • I'd take it. Its a first step, and will start your career. Stay a year and reassess. If you feel underpaid, just look to move on. by ixeostorax (Thu 27th Jan 2022 7:19pm)
  • Is he okay? I've heard that diversions via Byres Road can be truly, truly traumatic. by ixeostorax (Mon 31st Jan 2022 12:01am)
  • Just some kids from Bearsden finally trying out their Christmas presents. by ixeostorax (Mon 31st Jan 2022 7:50pm)
  • There will be a small minority across the Old Firm who allow a football team to determine their politics. The question posed is based on the offensive assumption that all football fans in Glasgow are idiotic bigots. I think you're way off here. by ixeostorax (Tue 1st Feb 2022 5:49pm)
  • Nice N Sleazy is a bit manky in all the right ways. Last time I was in there I was your age and felt right old, mind you. Tuts is a famous Glaswegian venue, however it can be a bit dead when everyone fucks off upstairs for the band. Still nice for a pint if you're a alt/rock man in his 40's. by ixeostorax (Wed 9th Feb 2022 3:07pm)
  • That was a cracking read pal. Thanks for posting! by ixeostorax (Sun 13th Feb 2022 9:33am)
  • The Station Wok in Partick. Class. by ixeostorax (Fri 18th Feb 2022 6:47am)
  • It's just a big, soulless space. I also went to see Bjork as it was a rare opportunity. I think she got away with it as there were so many visuals in her set. Got tickets for Bon Iver as its also a rare chance to see him, however the Hydro is the worst possible venue for his music. The solo acoustic numbers will be absolutely lost in there. by ixeostorax (Mon 21st Feb 2022 10:34am)
  • https://www.thehomeremovalscompany.co.uk/ These folk were absolutely exceptional. Price was round about £600 for same day move from a two bed flat to a house. by ixeostorax (Wed 23rd Feb 2022 5:18pm)
  • Owned a top floor tenement for 15 years+. Had an absolute fucking nightmare with leaks and a dickhead neighbour who wouldn't pay for repairs. All depends on how old the roof is (mine was ancient). Lovely flat apart from that. by ixeostorax (Sun 27th Feb 2022 8:58pm)
  • Cracking part of Glasgow. Loads of places to eat, excellent transport links, nice parks close by. Would 100% recommend. by ixeostorax (Wed 2nd Mar 2022 1:44pm)
  • Get yourself down to Bloc on Bath Street for stupidly good burgers. It's also good for drinks and has a nice buzz. by ixeostorax (Thu 3rd Mar 2022 3:11pm)
  • Why did I enjoy looking at these so much? Amazingly boring. More please. by ixeostorax (Thu 10th Mar 2022 11:04pm)
  • Bunch of fucking Seitanists. by ixeostorax (Sat 12th Mar 2022 12:30pm)
  • There's a little known Scottish by-law that taxes wanking. Sound like this guy could have a hefty bill if you lawyer up. by ixeostorax (Wed 30th Mar 2022 10:32pm)
  • Flight was massively delayed, but security was absolutely fine. Flew out on a Monday afternoon. by ixeostorax (Sat 28th May 2022 7:28am)
  • I've been doing this for a few months now and it's a nice cycle. I've got two high beam lights on the go as it's incredibly dark! And as you say, no young team! by ixeostorax (Mon 6th Jun 2022 7:25pm)
  • 100%. Nearly ran over an unleashed dog with my bike less than half an hour ago on the Kelvin Walkway. The daft wee thing then attacked my ankles while the owner stared on. That whole stretch, including the park, is a shambles for dogs running riot. I can deal with it when it's a terrier, but I've also had a big fuck off Alsatian lunge at me. Sadly there's nowt that can really be done about it. by ixeostorax (Tue 21st Jun 2022 6:28pm)
  • Unqualified shite mate. by ixeostorax (Fri 24th Jun 2022 4:33pm)
