  • Can Spätzle be served as a main, and if so what’s a traditional method? I’ve only ever had it as a side when I’ve been in Germany but love it. I’m sure we could probably get it delivered from West Brewery atm as well. by pheedroid (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 7:32pm)
  • I assume maybe just a butter/parsley/garlic sauce would work? I’ve not eaten at West in a long time tbh. Was intrigued when they started doing a curry wurst pizza, though. by pheedroid (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 7:37pm)
  • Actually burst out laughing at this. Thank you. by pheedroid (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 8:39pm)
  • West will be a tough one to boycott tbh. More of my money for Williams Bros! by pheedroid (Fri 19th Jun 2020 10:09pm)
  • I think I’ve had a few of theirs in the past and liked them. I’m pretty open tbh....anything but Brewdog, though! by pheedroid (Fri 19th Jun 2020 11:28pm)
  • Yeh, I’ll take an Elvis Juice if it’s going. You can keep the mushroom beer, though! Been looking at Fierce for some deliveries just now but everything from this is so pricey! by pheedroid (Fri 19th Jun 2020 11:33pm)
  • Came here to suggest this one. I know where the veggie sausages are and the hash browns. Anything beyond that and I’m getting lost in there. by pheedroid (Wed 24th Jun 2020 9:49am)

  • Ox & Finch and Gloriosa are up there tbh for a do it yrself vibe. And I’m always an advocate for the Beirut Star on PRW if you don’t want to cook anything yrself - have never had anything bad from there. by pheedroid (Fri 10th Jul 2020 8:19pm)
  • I saw a gold one just yesterday while I was wandering and wondered... by pheedroid (Sun 4th Oct 2020 10:00pm)
  • Yeh, I’m pretty sure they are. The majority of the buildings take a hot water supply from the main “energy centre” and this water’s then reheated when it arrives at the building and distributed among the radiators/heaters. The energy centre doesn’t go down often, but there’s big trouble when it does! by pheedroid (Wed 6th Jan 2021 12:25pm)
  • Ehhhh...no. by pheedroid (Wed 6th Jan 2021 12:32pm)
  • If there is, I haven’t found it yet! There’s a lot of doors leading to inaccessible places thanks to asbestos. by pheedroid (Wed 6th Jan 2021 12:39pm)
  • I’ll maybe look at sharing some more “behind the scenes” photos since this one got a fair amount of interest. Glad you like it! by pheedroid (Wed 6th Jan 2021 1:29pm)
  • The red line, but it starts from just after the gift shop. I wasn’t really sure how to explain it in the original post 😅 by pheedroid (Wed 6th Jan 2021 3:41pm)
  • Nah, sorry, this is a staff only area. by pheedroid (Wed 6th Jan 2021 4:58pm)
  • True! Sadly they’re mostly used for storage now. I’ll try and get a pic next time I’m around but I’m more scared of the staircases than I am of the tunnels! by pheedroid (Sat 16th Jan 2021 12:11pm)
  • There's a company called Hen Of The Woods whose home delivery stuff looks really tasty and they can send cocktails to you as well. They're based on Sauchiehall Street so nice and central. Gloriosa would also be a good shout, or Gnom were doing home delivery for a while in the south side - not sure if it's still a thing or not. Good luck! by pheedroid (Mon 18th Jan 2021 9:12am)
  • I've still got a wee buzz that our recycling was finally collected yesterday. Utter saddo. by pheedroid (Tue 19th Jan 2021 9:09am)
  • Aye, same. I think it was due to be collected on the 4th but that was still counted as a holiday or something so it didn't actually happen until yesterday. Had our first green bin collection at the weekend as well. Absolutely living it large. by pheedroid (Tue 19th Jan 2021 9:12am)
  • You maybe already know, but there’s a map here that shows all the recycling points - https://glasgowgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=345f389a91ff4f1fa193b24df832fb05 . Doesn’t include the all important collection info, though. That would be too helpful from GCC. by pheedroid (Tue 19th Jan 2021 9:22am)
  • So someone who has just spent upwards of a few hundred quid have to pay £1000 to even take them out? And those who avoid the extortinate rates for buying a puppy and adopt are supposed to find £1000 somewhere as well? by pheedroid (Fri 22nd Jan 2021 11:33am)
  • I honestly cannot believe how difficult it's been for me to find any motivation this week. TFI Friday. by pheedroid (Fri 29th Jan 2021 9:13am)
  • It doesn't help that the main piece of college work I have right now is an assessment on quality management and assurance. It's sucking the life out of me, and I think I've only answered about two questions today. by pheedroid (Fri 29th Jan 2021 2:16pm)
  • We watch Taggart every Saturday. The most notable location so far this week has been Waterstones on Argyll Street. Has the building opposite been a Pizza Hut forever? by pheedroid (Sat 30th Jan 2021 2:02pm)
  • Haha, I used to live round the corner from this and was perplexed every time I passed it. Can’t believe they haven’t fixed it yet. by pheedroid (Sat 30th Jan 2021 2:00pm)
  • I think yesterday’s confusing hangover has finally dissipated. The weekly shame still reigns supreme, though. by pheedroid (Sun 31st Jan 2021 10:14am)
  • Enjoying watching the random flurries of snow this morning. Glad I’m not out in it, though! by pheedroid (Sun 7th Feb 2021 12:25pm)
  • I was out for a couple of hours yesterday morning and it was baltic. Took me ages to warm up again once I was home. by pheedroid (Sun 7th Feb 2021 1:45pm)
  • Tell me about it. A wee Guinness in the Lismor would’ve gone down a treat. by pheedroid (Sun 7th Feb 2021 2:00pm)
  • I know I’d be pretty frustrated (to say the least) if I had to drag my sorry arse to work today and some reprobate decided to throw a snowball at me from their flat. by pheedroid (Tue 9th Feb 2021 8:54am)
  • Quarterly review today with someone who has no idea what I do on a day to day basis, then tomorrow my manager (who probably has no training on the subject) has decided he wants a meeting to discuss my mental health. Some week. by pheedroid (Tue 9th Feb 2021 8:52am)
  • I’m really struggling today to acknowledge that things will get better. by pheedroid (Fri 12th Feb 2021 9:39am)
  • Thanks. You’ve been a great help. Maybe I was completely justified almost crying in the shower this morning while listening to The Beta Band. by pheedroid (Fri 12th Feb 2021 11:13am)
  • I honestly thought that was an article on The Onion or something when I saw it. by pheedroid (Mon 22nd Feb 2021 8:51am)

  • Can confirm his brother Hardeep Singh is a wank, though. I was working catering at a do once and he did his absolute best to belittle me in front of a group of his fellow cronies when I was serving canapés. All that slum landlord stuff as well obvs… by pheedroid (Thu 9th Sep 2021 10:41am)
  • Arse. Saw him dining outside Jellyhill last week. He better have tipped. by pheedroid (Thu 9th Sep 2021 11:04am)
  • I tried to catch Capaldi’s eye once to nod a “hello” but he was too busy admiring his wife’s bum. by pheedroid (Fri 10th Sep 2021 2:33pm)
  • Just seen that the gig I'm going to at SWG3 tomorrow is actually in the Galvanizers Yard. Chances it'll absolutely piss down? High, I'd say... by pheedroid (Mon 13th Sep 2021 12:53pm)
  • When I was spending some time in Edinburgh a couple of years ago, the ease of the buses was amazing! Glasgow's public transport is seriously lacking! I don't use the buses often but usually get away with stating the area then paying whatever's required by card so I'm not faffing with change. Sounds like you have't a run of bad luck recently. by pheedroid (Tue 21st Sep 2021 1:45pm)
  • I think Swadish in the Merchant City is great and pretty sure they cater to all that they can! by pheedroid (Tue 21st Sep 2021 1:50pm)
  • I’ve been seeing Dr Quigley at Woodside Crescent Dental for years - super nice, keeps his patients relaxed. I’ve had to see a different doc there recently but he was great too. Seems to be a good bunch there, and it’s a convenient location at Charing X. by pheedroid (Sun 3rd Oct 2021 11:42am)
  • Just don’t go - Academy is the pits by pheedroid (Tue 5th Oct 2021 9:32pm)
  • New menu at McChuills looks absolutely bangin’. Wee bit further away, though. I wouldn’t waste time/money at Maggie’s/Bucks tbh by pheedroid (Wed 6th Oct 2021 3:49pm)
  • I’m wanting this information as well. I literally just need a list of countries I can go to where I don’t have to isolate at either end. Seems to be a minefield when trying to find actual useful information by pheedroid (Wed 6th Oct 2021 3:48pm)
  • I’ve never heard “dissy” before - where’d that come from? by pheedroid (Wed 6th Oct 2021 3:46pm)
  • Lidl have vegan pizzas available in their Vemondo range. They’re a bit funny about keeping stock though - move stuff around to accommodate for special offers etc. Worth checking their freezer anyway. by pheedroid (Wed 6th Oct 2021 3:45pm)
  • Alas, I know what I’m like - I already do 10k steps at work each day…I’m very unlikely to walk up to Anniesland after that to use the gym. Maybe therein lies my problem. by pheedroid (Thu 7th Oct 2021 9:36pm)
  • I work at Glasgow Uni so would get staff discount at the Stevie, but I’m only there alternate months so not sure if the price would work out - I would have to travel there to use the gym whereas AF is more local. I’ll maybe go in and talk to the staff there anyway and see what my options are! by pheedroid (Thu 7th Oct 2021 9:35pm)
  • The times I’m not on campus, I’m stuck doing long days at college in Springburn. There’s a chance I wouldn’t even make it to AF after a day at college, but I’m more likely to head there than uphill to the Stevie. I’ll look at the numbers and see if it works out. Thanks for yr advice! by pheedroid (Thu 7th Oct 2021 9:48pm)
  • I’d need to travel to the Uni gym from college in Springburn and then from there to home. The Uni gym would be great if I was on campus permanently. by pheedroid (Thu 7th Oct 2021 10:01pm)
  • Thank you. I would def opt for PureGym/The Gym if there was a convenient one nearby as I don’t like being stuck in contracts. I wouldn’t mind paying one month at AF to find out what it’s like…it’s the minimum nine month contract that’s off putting (as well as the price!) by pheedroid (Thu 7th Oct 2021 10:42pm)
  • I looked at the Glasgow Club website today for Kelvin Hall and the price seemed to be the same as AF ie around £27/month…? Was i looking in the wrong place? The everyone knowing each other at AF sounds I intimidating - I like my anonymity. I used to go to both PureGym and then The Gym and the faceless aspect was appealing to me tbh! by pheedroid (Thu 7th Oct 2021 10:45pm)
  • Yeh, I think regular AF membership is £30+ but the student one works out at £27 if you pay for nine months in advance, probs less if you do the full year. I’m intimidated by the contract aspect but maybe that’ll force me to go more often. Definitely considering Kelvin Hall as well now! by pheedroid (Thu 7th Oct 2021 10:50pm)
  • Shaming PTs need to stfu. I’m sorry that happened to you - it’s exactly the kind of thing I’d let ruin my confidence and I wouldn’t go back for ages. by pheedroid (Thu 7th Oct 2021 11:13pm)
  • I didn’t even think that there might be a Glasgow Club in Springburn too. I think we have a winner - thank you! by pheedroid (Fri 8th Oct 2021 6:57am)
  • I didn’t even think that there might be a Glasgow Club in Springburn too. I think we have a winner - thank you! by pheedroid (Fri 8th Oct 2021 6:56am)
  • I booked flights yesterday from Edinburgh to Lisbon at the end of November…went to buy my PCR test for coming back but need the terminal number, which Ryanair haven’t provided. Anyone know if just need to wait till closer to the trip or if I should sit for ages on their live chat? There surely can’t be many arrivals terminals at Ed airport. by pheedroid (Sat 16th Oct 2021 10:38am)
  • Probably Mental Munchies in Partick, or any of those overpriced American candy stores in town. by pheedroid (Sat 16th Oct 2021 10:36am)
  • Ah, good to know, thanks - I’m one of those people who likes to have everything sorted well in advance but suspected I was trying to get it all done too early. Obvs need the PCR ordered to get my PLF filled in. by pheedroid (Sat 16th Oct 2021 11:11am)
  • Cheers for that! Lidl’s PDN are good, nah? Damn, I’m gonny spend my whole hols just eating those, aren’t I? by pheedroid (Sat 16th Oct 2021 11:10am)
  • Wee cartons of wine?! Wonder if I can change my flights to the noo by pheedroid (Sat 16th Oct 2021 11:34am)
  • This is weird af! I’d phone your local office and put in a formal complaint about him - hopefully he’ll get moved to a different route. Failing that, you could talk to one of your neighbours about having your post diverted to them? Explain the situation and see if they’ll help? Sorry this is happening to you! by pheedroid (Mon 18th Oct 2021 11:28am)
  • Get to have a beer as well by pheedroid (Mon 18th Oct 2021 11:30am)

  • Speaking as a 32 year old apprentice who was desperate to get out of hospitality for years - do it! You’ll maybe take a hit in wages for a while but I’m so much happier now than I was before. Feel free to message me if you want to chat! by pheedroid (Sun 24th Oct 2021 12:53pm)
  • I usually use Kelvinhall gym but thinking I’ll just switch to North Woodside or something for the duration of this. Already pissed they’re closing KH for 5 days or so and we’re seeing no compensation for it. by pheedroid (Mon 25th Oct 2021 11:56am)
  • I think Bauhaus on Dumbarton Rd do one during the week now. The Rock on Hyndland Rd host one on Sundays as well. by pheedroid (Tue 26th Oct 2021 9:11am)
  • I had a work colleague recently go private to have a stye removed from his eyelid. In and out in a morning and cost around £300. Personally I wouldn’t do it just because of finances but I obvs don’t have a cyst on my neck or an unbearable stye on my eyelid. by pheedroid (Thu 28th Oct 2021 11:46am)
  • “If you’re heading to any gig at the Barras.” That whole part of town is stuck in the 90s. Can only get cash at the Morrisons or nearby at Trongate. by pheedroid (Fri 29th Oct 2021 8:17pm)
  • Saramago! Nice wee place. by pheedroid (Sat 30th Oct 2021 12:04pm)
  • One of the biggest scams going is having to pay to get your own money. by pheedroid (Sat 30th Oct 2021 12:01pm)

  • Is it not a standard rule for most places that 10% is added on larger tables automatically? That’s what I thought, anyway. by pheedroid (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:18am)
  • Fair enough - maybe it’s a Covid thing to cover loss of earnings or something. I’m always happy to tip anyway so wouldn’t have bothered tbh. by pheedroid (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:24am)
  • You should’ve gone full Scrooge and see if they’d take it off on request! (and then pay it anyway) by pheedroid (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:35am)
  • I’m dreading heading back to the gym on Wednesday after it’s been shut for a week. Why do they have pissy dance music playing rather shouts of encouragement? by pheedroid (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:40am)
  • The one sorta opposite the Rennie Mac statue? We walked past last night and it’s open! Looked kinda fancy but still had cans of Dragon Soop. by pheedroid (Thu 4th Nov 2021 8:44am)

  • I think McPhabbs is Van Winkle now…? by pheedroid (Sun 14th Nov 2021 1:43pm)
  • It’s bad chat and very dehumanising. by pheedroid (Sun 14th Nov 2021 1:51pm)
  • Okay well if you Google “McPhabbs Glasgow”, “Van Winkle - West End” is what shows up. And I walked past it last week. by pheedroid (Sun 14th Nov 2021 2:48pm)

  • Pretty sure I saw that pub in an episode of Taggart last week. by pheedroid (Sat 20th Nov 2021 11:56pm)
  • I learned with Alan Barr at DRM a few years ago and he was great! He has a business page on FB for him personally or I’m sure he’d be assigned to you if you booked with DRM as he covers that area. Good luck! by pheedroid (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 1:18pm)
  • I had my physical paper copy checked at the Barras a couple of weeks ago, and they cross referenced with my passport to make sure the name was the same. Haven’t been asked to show anything on the app yet. by pheedroid (Wed 24th Nov 2021 11:06am)
  • Only to the Theatre Royal and the Kings Theatre. As far as I can tell they just want to see a bit of paper with yr name on it and some evidence of double dosing. Not sure how the CDC card would go down. by pheedroid (Wed 24th Nov 2021 1:08pm)
  • Shouted at me a couple of times, but only when I was being an arsehole and warranted it. Also smelled nice all the time (important when yr sitting next to someone for 2hrs.) by pheedroid (Wed 24th Nov 2021 9:29pm)
  • Arranged for 2 day lateral flow tests to be delivered today at 8am. 13:20 and they’re still not here. Stress levels through the roof with the flights tomorrow. by pheedroid (Thu 25th Nov 2021 1:21pm)
  • True, which makes it more frustrating that the UK requires you to pay for one that’s tracked when you land. by pheedroid (Thu 25th Nov 2021 2:19pm)
  • Deffo The Rock! Pretty much always quiet during the day, a few screens showing sports but rarely any noisy folk. by pheedroid (Sun 28th Nov 2021 6:17pm)

  • I am a keen Kindle user and thought about trying to get downloads from Glasgow Libraries as well when lockdown started - it was a bit of a nightmare. Every book I tried to get either wasn’t available as a .mobi or simply wasn’t accessible. I think it’s a lot easier if you have a Kobo or another type of reader. Sorry! It might be worth popping into your local library and asking for help or advice - maybe services have improved since I was trying to work it all out. by pheedroid (Wed 5th Jan 2022 10:23am)

  • Good! Colour me wrong, and I’m glad to be proved wrong because I do like some M&S products. As I say, it was a discussion I remember during Free Palestine and I wasn’t completely sure…hence why my first comment was a question. by pheedroid (Wed 19th Jan 2022 10:03am)

  • I would love to see Hot Chip and Pictish Trail but something about it all just didn’t seem right to me. Location of venue, lack of chat about it directly from bands…glad I didn’t buy a ticket now. by pheedroid (Tue 1st Feb 2022 8:57am)
  • Gotta shout out Sushi Riot in Hyndland! by pheedroid (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 1:23pm)
  • I don’t know about the west end one but there’s a [water sports place](https://pinkston.co.uk/)in Pinkston, near Springburn. I cycle past sometimes and it looks pretty good. by pheedroid (Fri 4th Feb 2022 11:27am)
  • I came back here to mention that Jungle is a different promoter. I was in Broadcast tonight and saw the poster for that gig on the wall, meaning it’s a PCL gig. Surely Cardow will have to catch on soon? by pheedroid (Fri 4th Feb 2022 11:58pm)
  • I feel like I’m one of the very few who still wears it at college, work and the shops as well, to some degree. I just see it as we all need to look after number one, now. Do what you can to make yrself feel comfortable. by pheedroid (Mon 7th Feb 2022 11:04am)
  • I’m 32% for my half of our flat in Partick. Plus bills probably takes me to over 50%. by pheedroid (Thu 10th Mar 2022 8:49am)
  • Does anyone know if yr allowed to stow bikes on the rail replacement buses? Was hoping to cycle to Rutherglen on Friday and take the train back, but it looks like it’s just buses being provided atm. by pheedroid (Wed 23rd Mar 2022 9:11am)
  • Shout out to the wee bam yesterday who, when I was being aggressively shouted at by an angry cyclist on the 754, called him a walloper and reminded him it wasn’t the Tour De France. Can always rely on Glasgow’s best. by pheedroid (Thu 24th Mar 2022 7:54am)
  • I’ve heard nothing. Might swing by Partick station tonight and ask some questions. Quite bad if you usually travel with a pram/wheelchair/bike and can’t take it atm because buses are on. by pheedroid (Thu 24th Mar 2022 12:33pm)
  • Thanks. I’ll let you know if I get answers. by pheedroid (Thu 24th Mar 2022 1:02pm)

  • Academy last night for Future Islands. Not allowed to take a bag in but then found out it’s £3 to leave it in the cloakroom. Absolute worst venue in town. They’ll need to resurrect Bowie on that stage before I go back. by pheedroid (Sun 3rd Apr 2022 11:01am)
  • Sam’s incredible - he always puts on a great show. I missed encore though because I was away getting my bag 😅 by pheedroid (Sun 3rd Apr 2022 11:17am)
  • They always put on a great show (I have a pal who saw them in The Captain’s Rest if you can believe that…smallest place I’ve seen them was SWG3) but my enjoyment was seriously hampered by the venue. Lesson learned on my part, I guess. Aye, need to get to the Laurieston early if it’s show night at the Academy. Was gonny nip in but had no cash and the atm across the road has disappeared?! by pheedroid (Sun 3rd Apr 2022 11:51am)
  • Nah, I think it’s overpriced, uncomfortable and not adapted well to purpose. The sound is never great either. Compare it to the likes of the Barras or even the ABC when it was around and it barely comes close. by pheedroid (Sun 3rd Apr 2022 12:10pm)
  • Dan Deacon? Loved it! Never heard him before but going to get some of his stuff on later, I think. by pheedroid (Sun 3rd Apr 2022 12:27pm)

Sincerely hope it isn’t a sign of times to come and we’ll lose all of our independent pubs. • Geez awright, don’t go to the Ally Arms, then. by pheedroid (Wed 4th May 2022 8:47am)
  • Depends how popular the comedian is that you’re seeing tbh. If it’s local stuff you’ll probs be awright arriving around 8-8:15. If it’s a touring act I’d be wanting to get there around 7 to be in the queue and insure a good seat. by pheedroid (Tue 10th May 2022 10:30am)

  • Absolutely - pay them what they’re due. It’s frustrating to have no late trains atm but I totally understand why. by pheedroid (Wed 25th May 2022 8:04am)
  • Absolutely true. I don’t think bar/pub staff should be on minimum wage anyway tbh and if they’re working late, their taxi should be paid for by the company. I know Sleazy’s definitely used to do that for their staff and maybe Box too. by pheedroid (Wed 25th May 2022 1:48pm)
  • They’re an Irish company but making Neapolitan pizza. I’m up for it! by pheedroid (Fri 27th May 2022 7:08pm)

  • TRNSMT is useful because you know where most of the bams are going to be at the same time. I think if you live within a certain radius of these big gigs you should get a wee drop in yr council tax (unless it’s Hampden since that’s a stadium anyway) but that’ll never happen anyway. by pheedroid (Fri 1st Jul 2022 8:13am)
  • I always said that the march should include the hills up Scott Street and Gardner Street. See how many of them want to do it then. by pheedroid (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 12:36pm)
  • I did this yesterday on the 77 but when it came to getting off there wasn’t another bit to tap…so who knows what they’ll charge me. Great way to do it if all the hardware’s installed! by pheedroid (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 4:25pm)
  • There’s a “tap off” one near where the ticket bin is so you don’t have to go by the driver again. Or at least there’s supposed to be. by pheedroid (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 4:36pm)
  • Fair enough - I’ll know for next time. There was a bit of a scramble to get off so I just went with the crowd. by pheedroid (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 5:17pm)

  • Probs been asked a hundred times lately but does anyone have any recent experiences of Glasgow Airport? I usually give myself two hours to get through security then have a pint and a fry up (priorities) but don’t know if I should leave longer this time. Flying on Saturday and already panicking about FirstBus even getting us there. by pheedroid (Wed 6th Jul 2022 8:19am)
  • Cheers - you’ve pretty much just confirmed what I was thinking. Getting the 77 from Partick so will go earlier in case it doesn’t even show up. Thank you. by pheedroid (Wed 6th Jul 2022 8:35am)
  • Flying with RyanAir so only doing carry on bags - generally get through quite quickly. Flying back to Edinburgh too and already have the bus booked so hopefully won’t have any nasty surprises there! Thanks for replying. by pheedroid (Wed 6th Jul 2022 10:25am)

  • As well as Monorail, Love Music and Missing, I just found Last Night From Glasgow in the Hidden Lane in Finnieston. Very cool wee shop (and not all just Glaswegian music!) McChuills on the High Street often have a wee box at their door too - mostly northern soul if I remember right. by pheedroid (Thu 14th Jul 2022 11:44am)

  • I saw a gig at Sharmanka not long ago and it was fascinating by pheedroid (Thu 4th Aug 2022 7:59am)
  • You’d need to be a bit more specific because there’s literally so many options! I like Baffo and Basta for pizza, Horn Please is nice for wee Indian plates or Swadish as well (they have a full vegan menu.) There’s Stereo, The 78 and Mono for less formal, more laid back, fully vegan options. I really like Five March and Ox & Finch for fancier vibes. Hope that helps a wee bit… by pheedroid (Thu 4th Aug 2022 8:13am)

  • That was going round and round in my head too! by pheedroid (Mon 15th Aug 2022 10:43am)

  • I’ll usually wait for the green but if there’s no one crossing and no traffic moving, I’ll just safely zip through. Can’t abide the cyclists that roll up next to me and just go through without even looking, though. The Dumbarton Rd/Byres Rd cross is bad for it. by pheedroid (Wed 17th Aug 2022 11:32am)
  • Went to see My Old School last night about Brandon Lee attending Bearsden Academy when he was 30. A really brilliant film about a completely insane story. Would highly recommend! by pheedroid (Wed 17th Aug 2022 11:36am)

  • I bring home about £450 less than you a month and it’s tough. I still manage to save a wee bit but find that I’m dipping into my savings more often now to pay off my credit card or just cover some stuff waiting for payday again. If my rent goes up any more then I’ll almost certainly have to move because I feel like I’m already living beyond my means…but then there’s the major struggle to find a flat. It’s seriously depressing tbh. by pheedroid (Thu 18th Aug 2022 8:25pm)
  • Pics of soppy old man pls because he sounds excellent! by pheedroid (Fri 19th Aug 2022 8:57am)

  • I got my bike serviced a few months ago at The Bike Hive, in Partickhill. I was £85 for the service plus some repairs and replacement bits - think it was pretty good value and the guy’s super attentive and friendly. There’s also an old dog in there who takes lots of pets, if that’s yr ‘hing. by pheedroid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 10:59am)
  • Back at Kelvin College today to start the fourth year of my apprenticeship. No offence to the Springburnians, but it is miserable up here! by pheedroid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 11:00am)
  • Have you tried the charcoal chicken in there? I wanna try by pheedroid (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 3:11pm)
  • A friend of mine worked for them for almost 20yrs and was let go at the start of lockdown. Received a letter telling him so and was given the number for Samaritans if he was “struggling.” Never went back after how they treated him, but they’ve sold to Greene King now anyway by pheedroid (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 3:09pm)

  • Any idea how long refunds take from TicketWeb? Gutted that the Gentle Sinners show is cancelled but that means I could probably take the money spent on that and grab a Timber Timbre ticket instead. by pheedroid (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 8:35am)
  • Haha, how did you feel about it? I would’ve preferred Aidan’s vocals tbh but it was still a great cover. by pheedroid (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 9:45am)
  • Can’t think of any places with resident pets, sadly. Sparklehorse usually have a couple of dogs in. If anyone spots a cat in a pub, please let us know! by pheedroid (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 6:16pm)
  • My book club’s choice this month is The Wasp Factory and I’m so buzzing to read it again (pun intended.) I read the first chapter last night by the light of my salt lamp and reckon it’s going to be as disturbing as I remember it being. by pheedroid (Sat 3rd Sep 2022 8:49am)
  • Well, a girl in my book club tried to take it out of the school library when she was 14 and they wouldn’t let her! As soon as books are banned, people just want to read them more. Tbf though, I’ve just spent Saturday morning reading about a rabbit massacre and I’m glad I didn’t have to go through that at 11! by pheedroid (Sat 3rd Sep 2022 10:22am)
  • I hate when bookish people get snobby about King - he’s written some great books! by pheedroid (Sat 3rd Sep 2022 12:14pm)

  • What the hell am I even reading here? by pheedroid (Fri 9th Sep 2022 1:34pm)
  • Absolutely gutted! Thought it looked quiet for a while and then the sign was gone. The same people own the coffee shop on the corner of Dumbarton Rd and Peel St if you still want to give them some business. by pheedroid (Sat 10th Sep 2022 11:14am)
  • Saw they’re doing 50% off on UberEats at the weekend! by pheedroid (Tue 13th Sep 2022 2:00pm)

  • Paid for a weekly between Partick and Springburn on Scotrail but only want to go as far as Queen St today. I know my card won’t let me through the barrier (but I don’t know why) so any way around this? Get off at High St and walk instead? Ask a friendly member of Scotrail staff to load me a free return to Queen St on my card? Ditch the whole idea and go to Springburn again for a jolly? by pheedroid (Sat 24th Sep 2022 9:09am)
  • Nah, I’ve tried to scan it before at stations in between but it just says the station or my card is invalid, or something. Can usually explain to whoever’s standing at the gate but think it would be more difficult to wing it on the way back. High St’s good because no one ever checks tickets there - might be my best bet. by pheedroid (Sat 24th Sep 2022 9:23am)
  • Ah, so you’d need to be changing trains rather than ending your journey there? Bonkers. Surely I’ve given them my money (more than if I’d just bought tickets each day because I didn’t know college was shut yesterday) then I should be able to jump off early. by pheedroid (Sat 24th Sep 2022 9:37am)
  • Know someone who used to work there and said it was awful. by pheedroid (Sun 25th Sep 2022 11:26am)

  • I’m pretty desperate for dogs to be allowed in more places and children allowed in less, tbh. by pheedroid (Sun 2nd Oct 2022 3:59pm)
  • Anyone know if the mods here are against picture posts? I tried to share something yesterday and it’s sitting in my “posts” section but isn’t on this Reddit. Maybe I need to just make it a text post with the photo in the text? I’m confused all the same. by pheedroid (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 10:28am)
  • Hrm, awright. It was literally a photo of a pub and asking what happened to it. I understand wanting to keep pishy memes out the group though, so if it all has to be under the same umbrella, I understand. by pheedroid (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 10:34am)
  • Maybe Sloans? by pheedroid (Tue 4th Oct 2022 2:06pm)

  • I like Burt’s Bees and Carmex. by pheedroid (Mon 10th Oct 2022 1:27pm)
  • I think The Victoria on Dumbarton Road is quite cheap but it might be a bit of a hellhole - I haven’t visited it myself. Same story with the Rosevale. Fiddlers has special deals and a couple of screens - I’m sure they’d be happy to put what you want on. by pheedroid (Mon 10th Oct 2022 5:09pm)
  • The Aragon’s house ale is only £3.10 too. It’s drinkable. by pheedroid (Mon 10th Oct 2022 6:26pm)

  • I attended that college a few years back for a couple of courses and really enjoyed it. Great central location so transport’s never an issue, the building is fairly new so everything was still clean and working and all my lecturers were really friendly. Had a few issues with wee bam students but I was in the construction department downstairs (and I was a woman in her late 20s then) so that’s to be expected. I’m at Kelvin College in Springburn now and it’s an utter sh*those compared to Central tbh. by pheedroid (Sun 16th Oct 2022 10:04am)
  • I’d be curious to know who the service and maintenance company who look after your building are, because they are definitely not delivering on their contract. by pheedroid (Sun 16th Oct 2022 10:11am)
  • Priorities. by pheedroid (Sun 16th Oct 2022 12:22pm)
  • Which would also fall under the service and maintenance company’s duties - that would be the “maintenance” part. Anything out with the property boundary is Scottish Water’s responsibility. Anything within the boundary falls to the owner. by pheedroid (Sun 16th Oct 2022 12:20pm)
  • Royal Mail have been striking…how do they definitely know you got the letter? Patch it. by pheedroid (Mon 17th Oct 2022 10:51am)

  • My pal’s in The Hedrons - I’ll ask her who the support were. Not sure about heaving and ho’ing, though. by pheedroid (Sun 23rd Oct 2022 9:38am)
  • Had a stinker of a hangover yesterday so decided to head to Nowita and treat myself to a big tub of ice cream. The guy was a bit weird with me but sold me the tub all the same and I went home. Went to put it in the freezer…but there was already a tub in there! Turns out I was so drunk on Friday that I don’t even remember going in and buying the exact same tub that I’ve just bought on Saturday from the exact same person. Messaged the guy to apologise and he was totally sound but I can’t remember the last time I was so embarrassed. At least I’ve got loads of ice cream, I guess. by pheedroid (Sun 23rd Oct 2022 9:36am)
  • Nothing quite like a bit of sickening xenophobia on a Sunday morning. by pheedroid (Sun 23rd Oct 2022 10:50am)
  • There are microwaves in the Wolfson Med building for student use…but these might be the exact ones you’re queuing for you. I’d recommend getting a food flask tbh. by pheedroid (Mon 24th Oct 2022 10:37am)
  • Heading to a book launch on Thursday at Waterstones Sauchiehall - anyone know if there are refreshments available or if we can BYOB? I remember being at a comic book launch about 10yrs ago at Waterstones and there was free wine but it all might have changed now. by pheedroid (Tue 25th Oct 2022 10:18am)
  • Thought I’d check here first to see if anyone had first hand experience before I try to overcome some anxiety and phone a shop. Thanks for being so friendly and helpful, though. by pheedroid (Tue 25th Oct 2022 2:14pm)
  • If you get off the train at Springburn there’s two pubs right opposite the station - Shevlanes and Bells Bar. Wouldn’t fancy them on an evening at the weekend but they do me fine for a half after college while waiting on the train. by pheedroid (Wed 26th Oct 2022 11:11pm)

  • GFT’s £6.50 is Friday daytimes atm, I think. Saw Triangle Of Sadness yesterday and that’s I paid. Def used to be Tuesdays, though. by pheedroid (Sat 29th Oct 2022 5:33pm)

  • Cool, ta. by pheedroid (Thu 3rd Nov 2022 9:42am)
  • I’ve got an app called Lucky Trip which seems cool - can set yr dates, where you’re flying from and yr budget and it’ll give you flight, an accommodation rec and an activity to book. Sadly, I don’t have any money to actually use the app to its full potential! by pheedroid (Thu 3rd Nov 2022 1:11pm)
  • Ah damn yeh, okay - I think I read “for the UK” as “from the UK.” Sorry! Hope you find something by pheedroid (Thu 3rd Nov 2022 1:19pm)
  • Honestly sick of seeing him always hyped up on FB…usually by GlasgowLive tbf. Clueless. by pheedroid (Thu 3rd Nov 2022 4:58pm)
  • Stravaigin, Ubiquitous Chip and Hanoi because of the Greene King thing. Oran Mor because of the Stefan King thing (all their venues included, though.) West and SinglEnd for treating staff badly during the pandemic. TriBeCa because they were stealing tips. by pheedroid (Thu 3rd Nov 2022 5:02pm)
  • It isn’t yet, I don’t think, but he’s definitely bought it. I imagine they’ll try to keep the actual takeover quiet. by pheedroid (Fri 4th Nov 2022 6:56am)
  • Had my first visit to The Woodside yesterday - lovely wee pub! by pheedroid (Fri 4th Nov 2022 8:42am)

  • True, but I’d still rather support independent businesses than give my money to chains. I’d personally boycotted Strav and UC anyway due to a friend in their employ being absolute shafted during the pandemic but it’s still gutting to see them sold off. by pheedroid (Fri 4th Nov 2022 8:45am)
  • The Halt Bar or The Captain’s Rest. by pheedroid (Fri 4th Nov 2022 1:14pm)

  • Service is absolutely abysmal in Hyndland. by pheedroid (Fri 4th Nov 2022 1:16pm)
  • Ah, fair enough. There’s one on Clarence Drive that I’m in once a month for a club I’m in and it’s honestly awful. Food is awright when you get it tbf. by pheedroid (Fri 4th Nov 2022 1:33pm)
  • I don’t buy their beer anymore - not a nice company. by pheedroid (Fri 4th Nov 2022 5:13pm)
  • Sorry, I missed your reply! [Here’s an article from the time.](https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/18411890.amp/) They eventually sorted it out but only because the story broke. by pheedroid (Fri 4th Nov 2022 5:16pm)

  • Don’t. by pheedroid (Sat 5th Nov 2022 1:43pm)
  • Why do? So you can have a brief display of some fancy lights to gawp at while the bangs will scare animals and weans and generally just annoy folk in the local area? by pheedroid (Sat 5th Nov 2022 2:23pm)
  • I’d be happy to. One local display seems fair for the community but selling fireworks to members of the public to have in their garden (or anywhere nearby, in your case) is simply idiotic. Only a selfish neighbour would set them off. by pheedroid (Sat 5th Nov 2022 2:26pm)
  • *Awe That’s good you went round all your neighbours and made sure they’d experience “aw and happiness” rather than fear and frustration. You’re a pillar of society - carry on! by pheedroid (Sat 5th Nov 2022 2:30pm)
  • Where’s that person who posted today asking where they could set them off in public? by pheedroid (Sat 5th Nov 2022 8:52pm)
  • That’s them! Thought I was going to die on that hill today, telling them to f*ck off. Thankfully folk came along with the right upvotes. Wonder where they ended up. by pheedroid (Sat 5th Nov 2022 9:50pm)
  • I know this isn’t any help, but I just can’t understand why the universities aren’t responsible for finding you somewhere. I hope you get something sorted! by pheedroid (Tue 8th Nov 2022 8:39am)
  • Always wondered where the wee cafe they go to is. One quick Google says it’s on Maryhill Rd and is called Robyn’s Cafe now. Must’ve walked right past it a few times! by pheedroid (Tue 8th Nov 2022 8:37am)
  • They’re strict on everything at the O2, it seems. by pheedroid (Wed 9th Nov 2022 7:13am)
  • There’s a Mini Market right opposite Partick Library which exclusively stocks products from local and independent companies. The traders change but there’s always a good variety of artworks, soaps, candles etc. Really nice wee vibe. by pheedroid (Wed 16th Nov 2022 10:01am)
  • How’s it no’ jacket weather yet? It was 3 degrees when I left the flat this morning. by pheedroid (Mon 21st Nov 2022 7:45pm)
  • Thought it was overrated tbh. Nothing will beat Te Seba for pasta. by pheedroid (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 1:04pm)
  • I got some in Tesco on Sauchiehall St a few months back. Pubs wise you can def get it at the Doublet and I think Saramago too. by pheedroid (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 12:33pm)
  • Would need to be a big one if it’s going to have to fit three adults! Maybe the costume shop on Sauchiehall St, if it’s still there? 1st floor kinda near Gregg’s. Good luck! by pheedroid (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 12:30pm)
  • Used to be able to get our weekly shop at Lidl for around £20. It’s more than double that now. by pheedroid (Fri 25th Nov 2022 9:18am)

  • Hurt ma heid trying to read this. by pheedroid (Fri 25th Nov 2022 5:10pm)
  • It’s a shame but in a cost of living crisis, businesses like Locavore are going to struggle as they’re definitely the higher end for groceries - we’re talking £3-£5 for a loaf of sourdough. Personally, it’s always been out of my budget but hopefully they can find the funding they need to stay open for their customers. by pheedroid (Fri 25th Nov 2022 5:48pm)
  • I really fancied trying a specific brand of vegan cheese which Locavore stocked - think it was £7 for about 200g. No sale. by pheedroid (Fri 25th Nov 2022 7:48pm)
  • Is this place popular? I work on campus and absolutely despise this building - steer clear of it when I can. Just zero personality to me, seems more like a food court in a shopping centre. Good to hear not everyone is as cynical as me! by pheedroid (Sat 26th Nov 2022 9:49am)
  • I’m a pub reader - Sparkle Horse, The Lismore and The Belle are great for it. by pheedroid (Sat 26th Nov 2022 9:48am)

  • They’re not exclusively plant based but Duke’s Umbrella have a vegan Christmas menu on offer. by pheedroid (Fri 2nd Dec 2022 9:54am)
  • Did it still work without Jacqui there? I saw they were offering refunds if you didn’t fancy it - wee shame for Paul! by pheedroid (Sat 3rd Dec 2022 3:14pm)
  • The Belle is really nice and The 78 too if you get the wee nook by the fire. I’d expect most places to be busy on a Saturday, though. by pheedroid (Sat 3rd Dec 2022 3:11pm)
  • Is it still open? I thought it closed during lockdown by pheedroid (Sat 3rd Dec 2022 3:10pm)
  • Deoch An Dorus show all the games and will drive you down to the Hydro on a shuttle bus if you buy a meal from them and have a ticket. (Double check they’re still doing that tbf.) by pheedroid (Sat 3rd Dec 2022 3:17pm)
  • Shame! Always a nice pint of Guinness and I loved having a look at the original Oscar Slaters sign in the accessible bathroom. I’ll need to take a walk round sometime and see what’s going on there. by pheedroid (Sat 3rd Dec 2022 3:19pm)
  • I’ve had it quiet during the week. Going by the downvotes I’m obviously wrong though. Must’ve been a rare occasion. by pheedroid (Sat 3rd Dec 2022 5:29pm)
  • This whole post absolutely reeks of entitlement. by pheedroid (Sun 4th Dec 2022 11:39am)

  • Went to a gig at The Classic Grand last night. What a weird venue! Four Loco in the fridges and elf bars available to buy. by pheedroid (Sun 11th Dec 2022 9:31am)
  • I saw they were selling tickets for 2023 already. Kinda already thought there was absolutely no chance of that happening after all the rumours. by pheedroid (Mon 12th Dec 2022 10:47pm)
  • I went to Gravitas yesterday on North St, next to the Bon Accord. I’ve never had a massage before and felt so anxious beforehand but I honestly could not recommend it enough. The guy, Andy, sat down with me beforehand to explain what would happen and answer any questions. He was so attentive throughout as well and I could tell he really cares about his clients. Can’t recommend the place enough tbh. by pheedroid (Fri 16th Dec 2022 8:29pm)

  • It’s a specific ticketed event in McChuills today for the homeless and vulnerable. Only soft drinks on sale too. by pheedroid (Sun 25th Dec 2022 12:55pm)
  • Hospitality is a completely under appreciated industry with continuously low wages. A lot of hospitality workers found better paying jobs during Covid and just never went back so now we rely on all new hires who don’t have the benefit of training by experienced workers or people who want to do the bare minimum for the minimum wage. Until wages are increased I really can’t blame them tbh. by pheedroid (Mon 26th Dec 2022 2:38pm)
  • What’s to work on? Polls say unmarried, childless women are one of the happiest demographics, if not the happiest. by pheedroid (Tue 27th Dec 2022 12:41pm)
  • Potentially, but I don’t think any polls prove that one. by pheedroid (Tue 27th Dec 2022 12:52pm)
  • Which e-reader do you use? I signed up for Libby but genuinely couldn’t find any of the books I was looking for on Kindle. This was a few years ago though, tbf. Still take out physical books though. by pheedroid (Wed 4th Jan 2023 10:04am)
  • Slightly beyond my expertise tbh! I usually download an .epub or .pdf and convert to .mobi before transferring to my Kindle. Suits me fine but would use Libby if it was more easily accessible. by pheedroid (Wed 4th Jan 2023 3:26pm)
  • Grunting Growler have their quiz on on Thursdays. by pheedroid (Thu 5th Jan 2023 8:40am)
  • Half Bar and the original Captain’s Rest. by pheedroid (Thu 5th Jan 2023 10:49am)
  • Really liked YesBar! I think the couple who owned it got into a rammy in another bar one night and the place has been shut since? I assume they still own it since no one else is in there though - prime spot for a good pub! by pheedroid (Thu 5th Jan 2023 11:41am)
  • A friend of mine saw Future Islands play there! Wild by pheedroid (Thu 5th Jan 2023 3:39pm)
  • But their website says they’re “Glasgow’s finest gastropub.” The fact they have “burds” written on their menu is already a no from me. by pheedroid (Thu 5th Jan 2023 7:48pm)
  • I’ve been to La Choza - thought the food was really nice but the hot sauce did explode in my face. Waitress was super apologetic but it’s a sign of bad hygiene and hospitality practices imo. by pheedroid (Fri 6th Jan 2023 8:38am)

  • It was a glass bottle so they’ll have refilled it with new stuff on top of the old stuff. Causes a chemical reaction that increases the pressure so as soon as anyone opens it - BOOM! The same happens with ketchup but I dunno about other sauces. Wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been tbh! by pheedroid (Fri 6th Jan 2023 8:43am)

  • 6Music surely not getting on board with that? Think ClydeBuilt and Buena Vida are still off air but they have all their shows on Soundcloud and BV broadcast repeats all the time on their website. Failing that, try SomaFM online for good mixes based on genre. by pheedroid (Sun 8th Jan 2023 2:14pm)
  • This is great! Quite a few bands I’ve never heard of. Happy to see Bricolage and SHMB. Missing Punch & The Apostles, though! by pheedroid (Tue 10th Jan 2023 2:44pm)
  • I’m in Partick too - no private glass bins but that’s to be expected. Nearest ones are at Mansfield Park, Peckhams on Clarence Drive or Thornwood Park. We had food bins but they weren’t used so got taken away. You should have the blue cardboard bins, though - I’d call the council and see what the chat is. Welcome to Partick! by pheedroid (Wed 11th Jan 2023 1:04pm)

  • I’ve lived in Glasgow for about 15yrs and never had a glass bin specifically for the tenement - I assumed that was uniform across Glasgow, for flats at least. I think you were lucky! As for the blue bins, I imagine people throw cardboard in anyway (I do!) All manner of stuff makes its way in but I stick to plastics, tin and cardboard/paper. There’s cardboard recycling at Mansfield Park too if you want to do it by the council’s rules by pheedroid (Wed 11th Jan 2023 2:24pm)

  • I use the Bands In Town app to see which gigs are coming up. Can sort by the dates you want to see - I usually just check to see what’s on next week but I realise this wouldn’t help with the bigger shows that might have sold out already. by pheedroid (Thu 19th Jan 2023 8:34am)

There’s a few good pages you could get in contact with who might be able to help - Lost Glasgow, Past Glasgow, The Glasgow Chronicles, Old Glasgow Past And Present and Glasgow Memories are just a few. Shame because it’s a lovely pub…and I’ve got a gig there in a couple of weeks! by pheedroid (Tue 28th Mar 2023 8:26am)
  • I lived there for years and never had any trouble. As someone else has said, match days can be bad as well as any days the orange crowd get to go for a walk. It’s obviously an area of higher deprivation than other places in Glasgow and there are definitely better places to raise a kid, but all in all, it’s okay. by pheedroid (Tue 28th Mar 2023 12:41pm)

  • I’ve used them once for Glasgow - Aberdeen return and it’s completely fine! A bit weird that they dump you up the road rather than at the bus station but it’s a short walk to Union Square for any onward travel. It was also a bit busier than Megabus but I guess that’s because it’s cheaper. They also gave me a seat number which didn’t actually exist on the bus and the same thing happened with a lot of people - everyone got a bit confused but eventually just sat down wherever. All in all - it’s a bus journey and it’s okay. by pheedroid (Fri 7th Apr 2023 8:01am)

  • I use it to go west-south and back again every other weekend for the pub. Tap your regular bank card when you get on and the same card when you tap off (there’s usually a separate “tapper” on the way out but sometimes it’s not working so just do it at the driver’s reader again.) There’s usually a 10p holding fee then I’m charged around £2.60 each way the next day. I don’t think it’s too bad tbh but I’m not using it every day - would be extortionate if so! by pheedroid (Fri 5th May 2023 10:57am)
  • I’m still confused by this tbh. I would usually stand on the left but there’s signs on the escalator saying to stand on the right. The escalator at Partick station has shoe prints painted on the left, though! Canny win. by pheedroid (Sat 6th May 2023 9:07am)

  • You’re richer than some. by pheedroid (Sun 14th May 2023 12:42pm)
  • The argument is that I’m learning on the job. Sounds like you’re an employer with morals, which my bosses definitely aren’t. Pay goes up once I’m time-served but not by much, tbh. by pheedroid (Sun 14th May 2023 12:45pm)
  • Relationships aren’t everything btw - you can live an extremely rewarding life alone if you give yourself enough love and attention. I’d say focus on you and the rest might happen naturally. Or it might not, and that’s fine too. by pheedroid (Mon 15th May 2023 7:25am)
  • I’d have a public freak out if I saw that dog out for a cycle too. I love her? by pheedroid (Mon 15th May 2023 8:14am)
  • 100% this. by pheedroid (Wed 17th May 2023 9:03am)
  • I’m on less than you and completely scraping by. I still get a couple of nights out every so often which I cling to but will probs have to give those up soon too. I’m looking for a new place to live atm and everywhere is more expensive than where I am now. It all feels a bit hopeless tbh. I nip into the shops for a few bits and it comes to £20! I can’t face it getting worse - it seems that all the Tories want us to do is sit in the dark in our overpriced houses after working 14hr days and eating cold tins from the food bank. by pheedroid (Wed 17th May 2023 1:13pm)
  • Keep an eye out for the fiverfeed listing on The Steamie in the morning - there’ll be plenty to do there. by pheedroid (Wed 17th May 2023 5:04pm)
  • South side or west end are the best options but there are so many places to recommend. I’d go south, hitting up the Queens Park Cafe, Rose Reilly, Bell Jar, Brodies, Alison Arms and Heraghty’s - loads of good pubs within walking distance of each other. by pheedroid (Thu 18th May 2023 11:15am)
  • One weekend at TRNSHT will set you up for almost any bar in town. by pheedroid (Sat 20th May 2023 8:59pm)
  • Get in touch with Slaghammers - brilliant name and I am very sure they do welding. by pheedroid (Sat 20th May 2023 10:02pm)
  • I do a big shop and a batch cook on a Sunday so I have food for the five work days. It isn’t easy, I’ll admit, but definitely keeps costs down. A guy at my work easily spends £10 a day on food. by pheedroid (Thu 1st Jun 2023 2:06pm)
  • I’ve been waiting for a few months with various associations but can’t see me actually getting anywhere sorted, unfortunately. Seems to be that I fill in all the paperwork and then send it off to be lost in the void. A friend of mine waited three years for her mid-market rental in the south side. by pheedroid (Fri 2nd Jun 2023 12:10pm)

  • Brel is a good option but everywhere might be booked on a good sunny day. GWR1051 might be quieter because of location. by pheedroid (Sun 4th Jun 2023 8:29am)
  • Feel free to make your own suggestions… by pheedroid (Sun 4th Jun 2023 10:01am)
  • Do yous always reply to “how you doin?” I feel like sometimes it’s said instead of “hi” and the person’s kept on waking past before I’ve had a chance to tell them how exactly I am doing, but there’s other times I wonder if I’ve been rude by not saying. Whit’s the etiquette?! by pheedroid (Fri 9th Jun 2023 8:01am)
  • Plenty of lone weirdos in Rufus T and Solid Rock - sometimes I’m one of them! Maybe best to start there rather than straight into a nightclub like Cathouse. by pheedroid (Fri 9th Jun 2023 3:40pm)
  • Sounds like you know exactly what you’re going to do anyway. Since the dog’s so easily trainable maybe you could offer to do it for them? I’m sure there’s a website with all the answers you need. by pheedroid (Sun 11th Jun 2023 12:51pm)
  • I was attempting to use sarcasm. It obviously didn’t land. by pheedroid (Sun 11th Jun 2023 1:03pm)
  • I like both cats and dogs, tbh. And while that post is boring, it isn’t condescending, lengthy or basically just asking people to approve the plan I’ve already put in place. by pheedroid (Sun 11th Jun 2023 1:12pm)
  • Davie fae Dumbarton <3 by pheedroid (Wed 14th Jun 2023 9:57am)

  • My barber’s dog got a fright when it didn’t hear an electric bike come up behind it. The bike clipped its tail and the dog jumped into the road and was hit by a car. He’s okay but damn, when is something going to be done?! by pheedroid (Mon 19th Jun 2023 5:38pm)

  • Rent is astronomical and you missed the good weather. by pheedroid (Wed 28th Jun 2023 11:17am)
  • I’ve been waiting for a few months to try and get a flat with them. Seems like I send all my paperwork off into the abyss and just never hear back. It’s exhausting. by pheedroid (Sun 2nd Jul 2023 3:48pm)
  • I used [these guys](https://www.greenmoveuk.com/about-green-move) last weekend. Friend of a friend runs the whole operation so I’m a bit biased but they were super quick, moved everything for me and did it safely too. Can highly recommend. by pheedroid (Sun 2nd Jul 2023 9:16pm)
  • I’m in the exact same situation myself. I’m staying with friends now so technically in a “no fixed address” situation and still can’t get help. I’m aiming for mid-market but even that is just so competitive. by pheedroid (Mon 3rd Jul 2023 9:20am)
  • Both The Scotia and The Clutha are close by and between St Enoch’s and Glasgow Green. Traditional pubs with good beer. Maybe even some tunes too. (We just try to ignore the fact that The Scotia’s part of a chain now.) by pheedroid (Tue 4th Jul 2023 3:31pm)
  • I really need this game. by pheedroid (Tue 4th Jul 2023 9:03pm)
  • Made my bus journey through town very fast this morning - the driver was just fleeing through! by pheedroid (Fri 7th Jul 2023 10:21am)
  • So literally the only way to get home after midnight will be a taxi, which are already short in supply and extortionate to boot? I predict more hospitality venues going under by pheedroid (Mon 10th Jul 2023 9:46am)
  • Looks like there isn’t a UK release date yet. by pheedroid (Mon 10th Jul 2023 12:15pm)
  • This is so boring that I didn’t want to make a full post about it, but can anyone recommend a framer, please? Ideally west end but anywhere’s good really. by pheedroid (Wed 12th Jul 2023 12:58pm)
  • Just an FYI, a user called jamesstewart7691 contacted me personally today claiming to be from the BBC. He wanted to interview me regards a comment I posted here about struggling to find a flat. Parasite looking for a story - ignore him! by pheedroid (Wed 12th Jul 2023 9:51pm)
  • So after working a potentially busy shift in a pub with no set finishing time, a worker would then be expected to take on the responsibility of driving themselves and others home, taking fares and basically working a second job? Aye, sounds smashing. by pheedroid (Thu 13th Jul 2023 10:09am)
  • The Overs is on at the Buff Club this weekend - 70s, 80s, 90s I think…and no weans allowed in. by pheedroid (Fri 14th Jul 2023 7:16am)

  • Bought my first ever ticket on the FirstBus app. One question - what do the words mean when you bring up the QR code?! Yesterday it said BEAN and today it says JAYS. Is it just a random word for security? It amused me, anyway. by pheedroid (Tue 18th Jul 2023 7:58am)
  • My friend works in the Creative Scotland office in there and said there’s no plans to reopen. I met him last week in Tabac and the amount of visitors trying to get in to The Lighthouse was incredible! No clue why they want to keep it shut unless funding is an issue (that’s probably it tbf.) by pheedroid (Tue 18th Jul 2023 8:16am)
  • Absolutely shite to see but they dug this hole themselves. No sympathy for the owner. by pheedroid (Wed 19th Jul 2023 12:46pm)
